This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at his home on Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 4th day of August, 1938, in accordance with request made by the self - Mr. [849], Active Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc.
[Edgar Cayce; Gertrude Cayce, Conductor; Gladys Davis, Steno. Eda Louise Johnson and Hugh Lynn Cayce.]
Time of Reading 11:00 to 11:05 A. M. Eastern Standard Time. …, New York. (Physical Suggestion)
-
EC: Yes - we have the body, [849]; this we have had before.
-
As we find, CONSIDERABLE improvement is indicated in the GENERAL conditions of the body.
-
We would keep those applications that have been indicated.
-
And at least four or five days before the NEXT Bath we would increase by one drop or minim the Gold Solution taken internally; and keep the vibratory forces of same, as well as the Nitrate of Silver - which may be gradually increased; at least a four or five percent (as ye would term it) may be used in the present.
-
In the massage keep plenty of the Olive Oil AND Cocoa Butter, one time with one, the next time with the other. This will supply food values for the muscular forces of the body, as well as those vibratory forces in the impulse of the nervous system through the muscular forces.
-
Especially those areas in the brachial center (for the arms) and in the lumbar plexus (for the lower limbs) should receive SPECIFIC massage with the Oils, to supply nutriment to the ganglia of the nerve system from which or through which impulses for activity to the limbs are received.
-
As soon or as fast as possible, use those characters of exercises as may be gradually obtained from the ROWING machine. This will produce muscular reaction, tend to make for an activity which would bring into play the muscular forces of limbs, torso and the whole of the bodily forces.
-
Ready for questions.
-
(Q) What is the condition in the elbow? (A) This is just from the accumulations and the indications as we have given, where these become so specific.
Where there is swelling, apply the Epsom Salts Packs, see?
-
(Q) What exercises may be taken to strengthen leg muscles - (A) (Interrupting) As indicated, gradually work towards those where the body would be SET on the rowing machine!
-
(Q) Is the Appliance being given alright? (A) As indicated, keep these treatments in the manner they have been given.
-
(Q) Is the diet alright? (A) Keep all of these, as just indicated, in the manner that has been given.

R1. 8/16/38 [849]‘s letter to EC:
Dear Eddie:
Thank you for your letter, and also for the reading, which verified our own observations that I am becoming better. I have been able to exercise myself somewhat, and have made a start on the rowing machine exercise which was recommended. I do a portion of it while sitting on the side of the bed, and I have had a panel put on the wall from which ropes are strung to the bed. With these I am pulling myself up, and it is strengthening my arms and my back. The general condition in the right hip and leg continues to improve slowly, and perhaps after this next bath on Friday there will be a big step forward.
After that we will report to you on everything. In the next check reading I wish to inquire about the change of climate which obviously will be necessary in the fall. My doctor here feels that I should get into the water as soon as possible and stay there as long as I can every day. Even at the present rapid rate of recovery I will not be able to do this before October, so that means going down to Florida. Through the editor of the … Magazine I am making inquiries about …, which is on the west coast, is inexpensive, and provides salt water bathing without surf - enabling me to walk into the water and remain at any depth I choose. I would like to ask in a reading about this plan. I have an idea the reading will also suggest bathing, since it is really the only efficient way to restore atrophied muscles. Of course, getting on my feet and getting around on crutches is the main objective now, and I cannot plan to leave here until that is possible. I believe another six weeks or two months will see it accomplished and I have a feeling that it will be done in much less time. Of course, I had been planning and dreaming about a visit to the beach up until now, but the summer will be over before I can travel and I do not think the reading will recommend such a climate once the season is past. However, we shall see what is advised and follow it.
I have been asked to put a proposition to Hugh Lynn, but since I doubt that it is a serious offer I will tell it to you and let you pass it on to him on his return. Jerry Danzig of WOR, is very anxious to get some sort of psychic program going on his station. One night while he was visiting us I outlined a program which he like very much. He presented the idea to his boss and found that it was received with enthusiasm, so much so that the boss wants to start it in the fall - so Jerry says. As outlined I would act as master of ceremonies and the program would present specific cases of psychic phenomena with the people involved present as witnesses. There would be a board of experts in both science and psychic research, and after hearing the stories and the evidence they would offer opinions and explanations. Members of the audience would also give the opinions as to whether they believed it had happened and why. Obviously I cannot undertake such a program and even if I were to remain here I could only act as master of ceremonies and would be unable to do the research and round up the people. I suggested to Jerry that Hugh Lynn would be an ideal fellow for such a job - thinking that if he came to New York in the fall on a mission such as brought him here in the spring that he could combine business with business and make some money. The program would not have a sponsor to begin with and the station does not have a great deal of money, but Jerry asked me if I thought Hugh Lynn would work for $100 a week. That will be the offer if the thing goes through, so tell Hugh Lynn not to be surprised if he hears from WOR. Meanwhile he can let me know what his plans are for the fall. The last time we talked he seemed all set for Duke, but if that does not materialize the radio job might be very good both financially and for experience.
Everything is going smoothly with our schedule. The ingredients for the battery arrived and the change was made. The only thing we need is some Tim [for hemorrhoids], which isn’t listed in the reading but which is mighty good medicine just the same.
It is very hot here and we realize our misfortune in not being at the beach. Let us hope that next year we will be able to remedy that.
As ever, [849]
R2. 8/19/38 EC’s letter:
Quite interesting about the proposition to Hugh Lynn - he is still at camp near Natural Bridge, with Scouts, be home next Sunday. However, seems funny that it should make the circle and be back to the interest of the Danzig’s again - seems there are several that have such programmes now - had noticed from Hereward Carrington that he was on the air now Saturday nights, believe it is. Haven’t heard him as yet. W.A.B.C.
Am anxious to see High Lynn’s reaction to the suggestion - as you remember the reading has said such a suggestion would come to the Ass’n.
Will have them send you along a bit of T-I-M. Certainly is good stuff. Surprising how it is getting started all over - just of its self.
All pretty fair here - all send love to you, [1102] and the young lady - just hope she isn’t grown up before I get to see her.
Keep on pulling, [849] - you don’t have to be told HE has lots for you to do will you [if you will] do it and HE will give you the strength and health to do it with do you only Trust HIM. Quite an interesting man [1662] here now from Phila. Leader in the Friends - society, among the first Quakers we have had - very very lovely man and his wife.
Best to all ever the same - Eddie
