This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at his home on Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 30th day of August, 1938, in accordance with request made by the self - Mr. [849], Active Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc.
[Edgar Cayce; Gertrude Cayce, Conductor; Gladys Davis, Steno.]
Time of Reading 4:15 to 4:30 P. M. Eastern Standard Time. …, New York.
-
GC: You will give the physical condition of this body at the present time, with suggestions for further corrective measures; answering the questions that may be asked.
-
EC: Yes, we have the body, [849].
-
While conditions are not altogether as satisfactory as they should be, it is due to this congestion - which is a part of the activities of cold, but is hindering specifically the hepatic circulation.
-
Hence as we find, the arousing of the activity of the hepatic circulation through those properties that have been indicated, is well - that is, the Zilatone. In this manner we would take it: Take one tablet in the morning, two tablets in the evening. If there is not the activity from the liver or gall duct itself, repeat this, see? and see that there IS the activity, from the very nature of the stool, THROUGH the gall duct area - or the eliminations, the increasing of the lymph flow to flush the congestion from the system.
-
Whenever this is accomplished, then the next day follow same with the broken doses of Castoria; a teaspoonful about every hour - and take until there is the full activity from same through the alimentary canal! whether it takes one bottle, two bottles or three bottles!
-
This is to create a better BALANCE in the system; and as we find, WITH the use of he Castoria, there will be the tendency for a reduction of those inclinations for temperature from and through the congestion - and through the hepatic circulation.
-
We would continue with the rubs.
-
Also we would continue with the regular intervals of the Baths and all the other treatments as suggested.
-
And as fast as possible, of course, make for the activities. But do not exercise when there is temperature.
-
In the general we find conditions are improved in some directions, yet they are rather acute in others - especially this inclination for the temperature to produce congestion in ELIMINATING channels of the system.
-
Hence the necessity for arousing the internal activities as well as keeping those applications that make for the eliminations through the other channels of the system; that is, the rubs, the baths and the stimulations for the bodily functions.
-
Do these, then.
-
Ready for questions.
-
(Q) Is the cold and congestion the only cause of the temperature? (A) Cold and congestion is causing same. But it is producing conditions that are not indicative of or conducive to better forces for the body.
-
(Q) When able to get out, would it be advisable for me to go to Clearwater, Fla.? (A) As we find, this would be advisable - especially to keep in the water, in the sand; and those mineral baths that are near to Clearwater would be well - but do not remain in these too long in the beginning, see? The sun, the sand, the exercise in water is well.
-
(Q) Is there a better place than Clearwater? (A) As we would suggest, this is the better environ and surrounding - much better than the east coast.
-
(Q) Other than the baths and sand, what treatment should be taken while there? (A) The oil rubs should be kept us, AND - if there are not the better forces - keep the applications of the Appliance to BUILD the nerve forces so that the whole energies are not let down.
-
Do these for the present.
-
We are through for the present.

R1. 9/25/38 HLC’s ltr.: “[849] is better. I have been helping [1102] pack battery, etc. Better set time for a ck. rdg. for him about middle of next week. They leave Fri. for Clearwater… [849] has been sitting up more and standing some. Looks better, though is terribly thin, really awful looking and can move very little. He wants to get started on just right tr. for new climate. Is following diet and other treatments carefully. He will send questions - let him know date.”
R2. 10/2/38 [849] seemed in good spirits. [257] and I went to the train. They brought him in on stretcher-ambulance. [1102] took her cook with her. They had 2 compartments. Their house is near beach - is already rented and ready for them. I surely hope [849] continues to improve, for he has a long road.”
R3. 10/5/38 [849]‘s letter to EC:
Dear Eddie:
We arrived here without mishap and have a lovely place on the beach. I can see the Gulf of Mexico from my bedroom and soon I hope to be in it. The train shook me up quite a bit and made my body sore in many places, but all this is external and is gradually wearing off. Hugh Lynn said you would try to get a reading for me at the end of this week, so I will list the questions which now arise.
I think it best in the suggestion to ask what changes in diet, exercise, and treatment should be made now that we are in Florida. Are there any particular foods obtainable here which would help? Should we continue to use the battery? How much sunlight should I take each day? How soon should I attempt to get into the water?
I am sure that the climate in itself will be a great help, and expect that the reading will outline treatment in keeping with new conditions.
We saw Hugh Lynn at the train just before we left. He is quite excited about his program and, of course, we are praying that it will be successful. I hope that he has a successful winter in New York and that this opportunity means the beginning of big things for him.
[1521] had a grand time on the trip and is already acclimated. As soon as we have some new pictures taken of her on the beach we will send them to you. The cottage is bright and new and with all the rooms on one floor it makes housekeeping less of a strain on [1102]. I want to see her get tan and take on lots of weight. We have hopes that we will see you when you are down in Florida at Christmas time.
Meanwhile I know that the readings will soon have me on my feet.
I know you will be interested to know that I have a genuine relic of Mother Cambrini who is to be our first American saint. Perhaps you know about her miracles. There is a boy at Cathedral College in New York named Peter Smith, who was blinded at birth when a nurse bathed his eyes with a 50% solution of silver nitrate instead of a 5% solution.
Through the intervention of Mother Cambrini the infant’s sight was restored and today he sees as well as anyone. The relic was given to me by my friend Father Hayes of Catholic Charities, and I have great faith in it.
We are anxious to see what the readings say now that we are in such a grand climate. Our love to all of you. [849]
