This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at the home of Mrs. Kate B. Smith, Route 2, Box 20, Hopkinsville, Ky., this 13th day of November, 1935, in accordance with request made by the self - through Active Membership of her uncle, Mr. [419], in the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc.
[Edgar Cayce; Gertrude Cayce, Conductor; Gladys Davis, Steno. Miss [852] and Mrs. [1312]; Carrie S. and Thomas B. House, Wm. H. and Gray Salter, Kate B. and Estella Smith, and Hugh Lynn Cayce.]
Time of Reading 12:15 to 12:30 Noon - Central Standard Time. …, Ky. (Physical Suggestion)
-
EC: Yes, we have the body here, [852]; this we have had before.
-
Conditions are much improved from those that we have had here last.
-
There needs to be precautions as to keeping a balance in those activities that produce for the digestive fluids; in the alkalin and the acid solutions. These should be the first and foremost.
-
When necessary, then - not at all times but when necessary, use a small quantity of Alcaroid AFTER a meal. When there is felt an uncomfortable feeling in the stomach, this would be well to take. A quarter teaspoonful, or a little on the point of the spoon, dissolved in a small quantity of water and then a full glass of water added. This is to keep an activity in the production of an equal balance in the digestive forces of the body.
-
Well that those conditions in the lumbar area be corrected, as to those tendencies produced by contraction in the muscular forces from the lack of the flow of the lymph and the arterial circulation through same, through periods of congestion.
-
It will be found, however, that the addition of an oil rub will materially aid same. Combine the ingredients in this manner, in the order named:
-
To 4 ounces of Witchhazel as the base, add:
Oil of Cedar Wood…1/2 ounce, Oil of Wintergreen…1/2 ounce, Compound Tincture of Benzoin…1 ounce, Oil of Sassafras…1/4 ounce.
-
These of themselves will separate, though when shaken together will combine sufficient for their activity in absorption. This rub would be given either by the one making corrections, or immediately following same. Shake the solution well before a small quantity would be poured in an open container. Massage what the body will absorb; in the lumbar, in the sacral, and especially along the left limb to the knee (under portion) and across the lumbar axis especially. And it will be found that, with the osteopathic corrections as indicated, the tendencies for the curving will naturally become nominally aligned.
-
The use of the low electrical vibrations as we have been indicated WOULD be well. During the periods of the osteopathic treatments, however, such a treatment with the appliance (Wet Cell Appliance, carrying the Hydrochloric solution as indicated) would only be given once to three times a week, for thirty minutes.
-
In the matter of the diet, gradually we would continue to increase; not so much quantity as variety for the activities of the system. Wild game, as the season begins. Fish, shell fish (though these should NEVER be cooked or prepared so that they become hard for the digestion; so let same be broiled or taken raw, or the like). Gradually increase the varieties for the body.
-
Ready for questions.
-
(Q) How often should the massage be given with the oils? (A) AFTER each adjustment. If the osteopathic adjustments are given twice a week or three times a week, or each day, follow same with the rub. For we are considering the periods of reaction. For with the stimulation of ganglia or muscular centers, the activity for absorption is more pronounced; and the properties indicated will work in the manner and order indicated.
Olive Oil rubs for any portion of the body, after hot baths, are good and will keep the superficial circulation more active. For they will work with the superficial or lymph and emunctory circulation.
After the Olive Oil rubs (not after the combination oil rub, but the Olive Oil) it would be well to apply a weak alcohol rub. This will allow little chance of cold or congestion, and a much better development of the skin and the complexion and the body developments.
- (Q) What is causing the burning sensations in the stomach? (A) As just indicated, through the tendency for the unbalancing of conditions between the alkalin and acid condition - or an overactivity of the duodenum in relation to the pylorus and activity of gastric flow of the stomach itself.
Do what has been given.
- (Q) What can be done to keep eliminations? (A) These things that have been given will assist in the eliminations.
For when there is the better assimilation there is the better elimination.
When there is any disturbance in ANY body (and especially in this, when it hes been under strain), and there has been the lack of the flow through the whole of the intestinal system - especially when the connecting tissue in all the folds of he jejunum, as well as through the colon, has been inflamed, there is a tendency for the lack of flow. But with the gastric juices of the stomach kept equally balanced, and the diet made to conform with keeping the peristaltic activity throughout the system, the eliminations will be better.
- (Q) What is causing the restlessness at night and what should be done for it? (A) The same conditions as indicated, through the drawing on the system. For here we would consider for a moment the whole conditions. What is the source of supply for recuperative forces in physical reaction? The blood stream; which receives its activity from that assimilated in the body.
When there has been a tendency for an unbalancing, as in this body, or in any body where restlessness occurs (unless it is mental, and it isn’t mental here!), there is not sufficient of gastric flow.
These activities that have been indicated will take care of these conditions.
Do that.
- We are through with this Reading.

R2. 3/4/36 “I have not been improving like I should the last two months and Dr. Beard has been quite anxious for me to have another reading. I have put off writing because I thought I might improve but instead I am growing worse. [419] told me yesterday he didn’t think it advisable to let the condition run on…
“For the last three months I have been troubled with a constant jerking of the body while sleeping, and as a result I obtain very little rest. During the day I can feel quivers running through the body and am very nervous, but at night my whole body jerks. If I am lying on my side, I jerk with such force that it turns me on my back. The other night I awoke and my mouth and eye had jerked away to the left side, and while it was for a moment only, nevertheless it left me feeling very strange. The eye had twitched before during the day but not with my mouth nor as bad as it did that night. Both [419] and Dr. Beard seem to think it is purely my nerves yet know nothing to relieve the condition. I do not sleep well at all, in fact do not go to sleep for hours after I go to bed, and when I am asleep the jerking keeps me disturbed so that I am worn out for sleep. I will do anything you say do, for I want to get well and strong as soon as I can.
“Not having enough to worry about, all my hair is coming out and there is very little left on the crown of my head. Aunt [1795] said the new hair would probably be curly, but I don’t think so. It is coming in so slow that I can’t tell yet whether it is or not…
“I am enclosing a list of questions I should like to have asked when you give the reading. You may answer them in the reading, but I am sending them in case you don’t.
“Thanking you for your kindness…”
