This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at his home on Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 24th day of September, 1936, in accordance with request made by the self - Mr. [877], Active Research Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc.

Time of Reading 3:45 to 4:15 P. M. Eastern Standard Time. New York City. (Ck. Life on Gobi monetary system)

1. EC: Yes, we have the records here of the entity now known as or called [877]; also those interpretations that have been given of these experiences thus far in the Gobi land.

2. In stressing those particular phases of the economic conditions that existed in the land in that experience, we find:

3. The entity was among the first to establish an exchange between other lands, owing to those associations that were begun with the lands now known as or called India, Egypt, Caucasia, Pyrenees and those of the latter portions of the Atlantean land - in these periods, or this particular period in the Gobi land - as in most of the others save the Atlantean; or these groups, or this people of Mu, or - as indicated - Muzuen, the son of Mu that has first builded this particular city or group that became or was the City of Gold - or Golden City; as we have indicated should be later discovered.

4. The peoples lived in the main within themselves, or among themselves. Those of this particular group were less of class then in the Atlantean or the Indian. Hence the peoples were equal in their positions from the social aspect.

5. The forming of the moral and the penal codes as would be termed in the present was only a portion of the entity’s part in this particular period, but verified by the Prince though set in order rather by Mu; and these were few in number. And to interpret them in the present would be as these:

6. First, this would be a literal interpretation, and not what would be in that speech in that day - though this may be given if it is sought:

7. He that labors with the hands is deserving of the fruits and advantages of the labors.

8. Do [not?] to thy neighbor as thy neighbor does to thee; but as ye would that he should do, then do to him.

9. In these alone were the activities of this peoples.

10. As to the exchanges - as there developed the various types of characters of labors - the hewers of wood, the drawers of water, the dressers of skins, the hunters, and then to be sure the agricultural activities as would be termed in the present - there was the one COMMON storehouse, and the daily labors in each of the activities were as the labors of those that worked or labored in others’ activities, and were as one against another.

11. There were also those in this entity’s activity that were of the indigent and of the young that had no parentage or support, and those that were lame or blind. Those very OLD, as would be termed today, were MERCIFULLY put away. [Euthanasia?]

12. In those activities with the associations with other groups, other nations, this group or nation or this people - headed by the entity - first made what would today be called coin, which was of gold. It was almost square but with a hole in same, smooth but edged that it might be known from other groups that gradually used the same - and was changed to this when it was found that the Atlanteans’ were almost the same. Holes in same and strung to be worn about the waist or about the neck. These - as the exchange then - were as so much daily labor or exercise. There were NO individuals that did not labor if they were above twelve years of age, unless they were ill, lame or blind or with child - others ALL labored! There were NO individuals that did nothing!

13. These were the conditions, these were the activities that were set in motion by the entity as the Prince of that land.

14. As for the groups in its own land, as has been indicated, the worshipfulness was in a temple where those gathered that made for speech-making. There were no priests as in many other lands. They were ALL those that spoke and would be called a forum, or more as a group known in thine own land as the Quakers - who spoke when they were moved by not anxiety, not wrath, but by the spirit of THOUGHTFULNESS - or the recognizing of Mind, the Builder. But the laborer was heard as well as those that were of EVERY trade as would be termed in the present.

15. In the exchange between those of other lands, when these associations were established, there were the spices from India, linens and cut stones from Egypt. These were especially for the women.

16. There was equality between the sexes during that experience. There was only, as has been indicated, monogamy; not polygamy EVER practiced among these peoples. The rights of each were the rights of the other. When by injury, wrath, accident the mate was destroyed or killed, or by death, then the CHOICE was made by the individual and seconded by those that were in the authority as to judgements. But those that judged were AS the common people, as those in authority. For only the Prince, only those of the household of the Prince were the last word - but they never as lords, priests, presidents or dictators, but as INTERPRETERS OF the law between man and man! And ALL interpreters were moved to speech, or moved by the spirit in that ye call religion in the present, though these later - with the mixing of those from India and especially from Caucasia - made for disturbances in the second generation after Muzuen.

17. Ready for questions.

18. (Q) Just exactly what kind of a monetary system did they have at that time? (A) As has been indicated, GOLD!

19. (Q) Did they use paper currency such as we have today? (A) No.

20. (Q) Did they have a Government Bank, and if so, how did it function and what were its powers? (A) As each labored, as each saved, this was given as to each individual. It was not GOVERNMENT - for it was of ALL the people, and there was only the one source of the exchange or the supply, that all belonged to all.

21. (Q) Did they have private banks. (A) NO private banks, as just indicated.

22. (Q) What was the system of taxation? (A) There was NO taxation. ALL LABORED; hence not necessary for taxation. For they were ALL the Government, for all were as one. A common storehouse, a common bank, a common activity throughout in each; each giving as it were the day for that of a piece of gold. A piece of gold then was a day’s labor. Not as dollars, not as cents, not as shillings, not as pence, not as livres, not as any of those used at present; but each piece represented a day’s LABOR, and the women and the children were the same as the men - for each represented THEIR ability to give that they could in their own respective activity, and each - for it was all for the one, and one for all.

23. (Q) In trading with other countries, what was used for money? i.e., Foreign Exchange? (A) These same pieces as has been indicated, that were changed then - that is, edged - or etched; but no figures, no individual heads. These came later. But HOLES in same; almost square pieces, strung.

24. (Q) Regarding my personal associations: What part, if any, did the following play in my life at that time? First, [920], my present wife? (A) A sister.

25. (Q) [1248], my present niece? (A) Came as a visitor only.

26. (Q) [765], my present mother-in-law? (A) We do not find an association in this particular experience.

27. (Q) [906], my present sister-in-law? (A) One admired by the entity when upon the visits in that particular activity, or to Egypt.

28. (Q) [1256], my present friend? (A) One that the entity appointed TO that of judging the valuations of spices, of linens, to those of the day’s labors as they were given to individuals. The exchange was made, put in the common storehouse and the individual aided in the making for the valuation to the individuals, to those from whom such were exchanged.

29. We are through for the present.

P.S. Has anyone gone through all of the readings on file and picked out the parts referring to the Gobi land? Such a recapitulation would be extremely interesting. If such a study has been complete, you well know that I would love to have a copy of it, and if it has not already been done, I would be only too pleased to do anything I can to make it possible. My dear Mr. [877]:-

Thanks for yours of the 29th. I’m glad to know that the Gobi reading was interesting and helpful. Of course, a great deal of it was quite astonishing to us, and I don’t know whether we have fully comprehended it or not.

We have not compiled a paper on that period yet, as most of the information on the period has been given in your readings. However, Miss Gladys says she will be glad to copy for you the data given in in the other individual’s Life Readings, who have had an incarnation in the Gobi land; giving you the name of each individual in the present and history as much as possible. It might be that some of these individuals you could meet in the present and resume acquaintanceship. Miss Gladys says she will find it very interesting to do this compiling, and correlate the period with the same in Egypt, India, Carpathia, Atlantic, etc.

The most amazing thing to us has been and is that though the Life Readings will pick up an individual here and there as being in the same period, and they may be very foreign to each other, the information is very consistent as to the period - and practically each one fits in as the mortise to the tenon.

Well, we finally had a “Get-together” on the house proposition. I hope I’ll be able from now on to take care of the payments as they come, and I give thanks for your courtesy and willingness to help us at this time. Of course, we had storm insurance - and have just had repair work done on the roof and plastering.
