This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at his office, 322 Grafton Avenue, Dayton, Ohio, this 12th day of August, 1924, in accordance with request made by self - [900], via Mr. David E. Kahn.

GC: Now you have before you the body of [900], … Broadway, […] & Company, Room … You will give a Physical, Mental and Spiritual reading, with suggestions for the improvement of any or all of these. You will answer the following questions regarding this body: 1. Are his habits regular?
What is the condition of his tonsils?
EC: Now, in giving the physical, the mental and the spiritual forces and elements and conditions in this body, we have many various conditions to consider under the improvements for any or all of these, and will, therefore, necessarily give other conditions that influence this body, both physical and mental, and thereby having the effect upon the spiritual entity.
In the physical, as given, first the condition in the tonsil: We find there some irritation at the present time, for there has been some exercise, recently, in the body that has perturbed the body, both in the mental and the physical, and finds manifestation in this condition and is affected through other conditions, as we shall see. There is also a tooth giving some trouble at the present time. Not aching, yet the disturbance and distress is felt in this in the lower portion of jaw and that one next what is commonly known as stomach tooth.
Now, these are the physical conditions.
As to the habits of the body, these are by natural forces regular, though there are times when irregularity is accorded. These are in mental forces considered necessary, and not indulgences, but from the stricter sense there are times when the expenditure of physical and mental forces is above the normal or the ordinary.
These are conditions then as we find in the physical body, [900], we are speaking of. First:
IN THE BLOOD SUPPLY, this we find very good, save there is the tendency for the excretory function of the system to overtax the blood forces in the body. Hence there are times when these portions of the body function above the normal. In the division between the elements of blood supply, these are in the normal condition at the present time. There is the lack of red blood in the system, when considered from the constitutional condition of development from the physical standpoint.
IN THE NERVE SYSTEM, this we find is very good in many respects. There are some conditions that are exaggerated in the system, such as we have in the center that governs the flow of blood through the neck, throat, larynx, bronchials, thyroids and these glands in central portion of this circulation. This we find governed by the centers about the 6th and 7th cervicals and there from this position have arisen some conditions that have been exaggerated by the local application of outside or external portions in this body, [900]. This, then, is a center that needs direct according condition to produce the normal condition in these portions of body. The whole sensory system will be assisted through such conditions. In the sympathetic nerve centers and plexuses do these find their manifestations in other portions of the body, as we have at the present time, now, the full flow of secretions to throat, bronchials and larynx, to keep the secretions in their distributing forces and eliminating through this channel used forces in the system, as do we have in the circulation to eyes and to the sensory system in general.
IN THE ORGANS OF THE BODY, brain forces very good. In this we still have more to do within the condition of the mental in its ability to give better development to the physical. We find that this is an entity that the fore-knowledge of conditions will be well applied to the physical attributes of the mental forces in the body. One well given then to control the proclivities of the physical in its relation to governing the physical through mental understanding of physical conditions.
Organs of the sensory system as have been given.
Lungs very good.
Heart’s action near normal. At present just above normal.
Digestive tract shows the excess of secretions as being taken and produced in portions of the system.
In the hepatic circulation near normal. One that would do well to remember that stimulation in the upper digestive tract weakens the activity of secretions as exercised in system through the pancrean forces, and do not take so much sugars in system, else we will have the after effects of same, both in the manifested condition in pancreas and in spleen in its destruction of the red blood cells used in brain’s reaction. Hence would be twofold in its reaction. Brain forces disturbed as well as digestive tract. Only a forewarning though. Not abnormal at present but has the tendency, both through the present condition and that as has been and is carried by mental hereditary forces. In the hypogastric center in its circulation, both as nerve supply and as the blood flow carried in each of its branches, we have these are very good, though a strain produced, as has been given, in the eliminations in system. Hence the troubles at times of the secretion of the urine in system to eliminate sufficient of those forces as exercised through this portion of body.
Then to correct the physical forces, well that the mental have that control necessary to create the correct incentives for all functioning portions of the body direct through sympathetic system. Well that the condition in upper dorsal and the lower cervical region be corrected, either osteopathically or chiropractically, and that the body be more specific in its regular exercise to keep the physical fit for the developing of body mentally, physically and spiritually.
As to the mental forces, in its relation to the physical and spiritual, we find one well given to understand conditions as the visionary proclivities of any given business proposition. That is, one capable of getting the scope and vision or the possibilities of given conditions as related to the financial advancements or possibilities of a given subject. One then that is capable of acting, especially, in the capacity of credit man for any large institution that has to do with numbers of small concerns doing business with the larger. One that will find in such development much of this world’s goods. Well, however, that the spiritual elements be considered, and that the spiritual force of the individual be kept apace with the development in the mental proclivities of the entity.
Then, to increase the forces in the mental, give self’s study to the lines as have been given.
In the development of the spiritual forces, ever keep the injunction in the faith of the entity’s forces and keep the words of the mouth, the meditation of the heart, holy and acceptable unto him.

R2. 8/27/24 Letter from [900]: ”…I think that the ground it covered is excellent but I wondered why there wes no mention made of my ears, particularly the left one, which has been the source of trouble to me practically all my life. The present condition is not in any way acute, but the doctors have pronounced the fundamental trouble incurable.

“Should you find the time and the desire to take another reading on this matter, I would certainly appreciate it. I would also appreciate your going into detail regarding my teeth, as the dentist finds no trouble at all in any of my teeth with the exception of a small cavity in one of the moullers [molars] which he filled. The tooth you specified in the lower jaw next to the one known as the stomach tooth, he pronounces in perfect condition.

“In any next reading you may be so kind as to take of me I would certainly appreciate your answering the questions listed at the end of this letter…”

Dear Judge:-

”…So I took the time - at the expense of a lot of late hours and hard work - to talk to this young fellow [900] - a boy of my own age and of whom I think a great deal - we are very much interested in one the other - and he was willing to go me 50-50 - well he and I decided to send you a check - and he at once gave me 50. - and paid also one half of the phone calls and etc. The reading gave me an insight - to the affairs but only in as far as I already knew - but the part I really wanted and need is the part on him - he wants it and so do I. We both understand - the reading may advise us to go together - or apart - but in either case he wants to see the reading - and know you - if he thinks as much of you after he meets you as he does at the present time - and if you can show him - just on the readings we are taking you will be able to join us on a number of very fine things we are working on. He is well connected as the reading says - but neither he nor I understand what is meant - by getting the other on [900]. Now he and I both are very disappointed in your not coming, and I feel this is the one biggest opportunity of our life - we can not always get oil - and we cannot always make things go as we want - but life is life - Business success is business principles - I am following them

B3. 6/19/24 EC’s ltr. to David E. Kahn: ”…It is impossible for me to consider being there under conditions, being so unsettled as to what you wish to do, until I can get two other propositions off of my hands…

“First, these are the propositions: I am with two gentlemen here working out a proposition and attachment to a radio, which is proving a most wonderful thing. We have some more experiments to make and I can’t possibly leave this in its present condition, not even for a day, until we get some definite condition to work on or out.

“Second: I have reached the point where I will definitely know within the next day or two just how soon I may expect to have the Institute established permanently in a definite way… That all these propositions should present themselves at the one time seems very peculiar to me, and of course you may be sure they are with an entirely different group of people. Of course, you understand I appreciate what you have done… Now, I’m not fearful of the impression that I might be able to make, but being so close run on finances I do not want to take a chance when I may have the very thing here, that is going to work out BIG.

”…The reading was sent, as I wrote you, to the young lady [4353]. I am sure she has it long before this. As to the amount sent, it was only seventy-five dollars - not a hundred at all. While I thank you very much for this, and I really do not know what I would have done without it, I understand and realize that if my attachment for radio is what it seems to be and what it demonstrates itself to be New York is the place to market it… If Mr. [900] wants the class of reading that you seem to think and know that you need for the association, you know if he will wire me, personally, I shall be glad to undertake it for him, and it would be surely as convincing to him given at a distance as it could possibly be were I present.

“With the interest that you seem to think he manifests in me and the possibilities of my work, I would be glad if you would have him do this. Then, if he feels that the results justify a personal conference more so than the present conditions do, I will try to arrange for that…

“I believe, Dave, that you will see from this my position just at the present moment, and the impractibility of my attempting to do otherwise than I’m doing at the present time…”

Dear [900]:-

Pardon me for addressing you but I presume, from letters from our mutual friend, Mr. David E. Kahn, that perhaps you expect same. Dave has asked me a time or two, in fact has sent me a long list of questions, to give a reading on you. It has been one of my rules, and is one I feel I should in no way ever break, not to give a reading on anyone unless they desire it themselves. Of course, the person being in the right mind and capable of judging for himself.

Now, if you desire this reading made, I shall be very glad to hear from you and to undertake it for you. I am sure, however, that from my experience it would be best to separate these questions into a purely physical and mental and spiritual reading, instead of trying to get so much mixed all in one; that is, so many things relating to outside business conditions.

I am very sorry indeed that it was impossible for me to come to New York at the time Dave wired for me. There were so many circumstances just at the time that I could not overcome, and to be perfectly frank my financial condition just at the time was such that I could not spare the time away, nor meet the necessities of the family with the existing circumstances, but I am sure that if this reading request is prepared with the questions in the correct manner you will be able to get an insight into the workings of same, as well or better perhaps at the distance than present at hand. While I feel no one exactly understands how the work is done, I do not myself, yet my long experience and under so many various circumstances I feel that I can, personally, better explain it to individuals than anyone else can. Therefore, it is better in many ways if an individual is really interested in the good that humanity, as a whole, may obtain from the manifestations, for him to be in touch directly with the work, but this may be accomplished when you have gotten a little more insight by a reading on yourself.

I am enclosing you, then, the questions as Dave first sent me. If you feel that these are as you would like to ask them, you may return them just as they are, but I will of necessity have to transpose many of them but will make the reading and the questions will be outlined just as they were asked. I feel sure you have heard a great deal of the work from my good friend, Dave, and from what he has said of you I’m very anxious to meet you in person. Naturally, also, I’m anxious to know what a reading would say about you from a mental and spiritual standpoint. However, I would never take one on ANYONE without the individual asking for same.

So, thinking from Dave’s last letter that you desire the reading, I am enclosing you the regular card, with the date and hour set when this can be made. Please fill in and return with your questions at once, telling me just where you will be on this day and hour. I know you time, Daylight Savings, is one hour in advance of Dayton, Daylight savings.

Dear Mr. Cayce:-

I am in receipt of your letter of the 7th inst, and I want to thank you for the kind consideration you gave the communication which our friend, David Kahn, addressed to you in my behalf. Although I was disappointed in not having the pleasure of making your personal acquaintance I am sure that at your own convenience you will afford me that opportunity at some future time. Dave has spoken to me of you in such glowing terms that I look forward to meeting you with a great amount of pleasure.

Regarding the questions Dave sent you in the matter of my own reading, I left this to Dave feeling that he was better acquainted with the circumstances, with your methods, and with you personally, and could therefore better address you than I could myself. I would most certainly appreciate your giving me a reading and am certain that due to certain personal conditions, not at all financial, you might tender me a great amount of aid. I should appreciate however, your giving me a complete reading including financial as well as physical, spiritual and mental. However you know best what to do in such a matter and rather than revise my questions I am returning them to you as made out by David Kahn and leaving to you such revision as you may deem necessary.

I sincerely hope that it will be possible for you to answer the majority of these questions and I assure you the aid such answers may bring me will be greatly appreciated. I ask, however, in order to make the matter intelligible to me that you return my questions together with any revised question you may make together with your reading. In other words, I will receive from you, your reading, the questions made out by David Kahn and your own revised list of questions should you find such a revision necessary.
