This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at his office, 322 Grafton Avenue, Dayton, Ohio, this 31st day of December, 1924, in accordance with request made by self, [900].

1. GC: You will have before you the reading on [900], with questions on subject matter, given December 31st, 1924, at 1:10 P.M. [900-15], and you will continue with the answers to the questions, as I ask them.

2. EC: Yes, we have the body, the mental forces, the enquiring mind, the seeking for knowledge with the entity, [900], and the subject matter as given.

3. We would study well that as has been given, and apply self in this present earth plane, that the gifts as are accorded the entity may manifest in this present day and generation. Be not as him who was given one talent and hid same for fear of the austere giver, but rather as him who was given ten talents, that more may be added unto him, until he enter into that as was given, “Enter into the joys of thy labors, and sit down on the right hand, for as thou hast been faithful over a few, I will make thee ruler over many.” Enter into the work, then, with an humble heart, and with the joy of the labor, and the peace and the blessings of many will come to thee.

5. (Q) Explain the various planes of eternity, in their order of development, or rather explain to us the steps through which the soul must pass to climb back into the arms of beloved God. (A) These, we see, must be manifest only as the finite mind in the flesh. As in the spirit forces, the development comes through the many changes, as made manifest in the evolution of man.

In the development in eternity’s realm, is that a finite force as made of creation may become one with the Creator, as a unit, atom, or vibration, becomes one with the universal forces. When separated, as each were in the beginning, with the many changes possible in the material forces, the development then comes, that each spirit entity, each earth entity, the counterpart of the spirit entity, may become one with the Creator, even as the ensample to man’s development through flesh, made perfect in every manner; though taking on flesh, yet without spot or blemish, never condemning, never finding fault, never bringing accusation against any, making the will one with the Father, as was in the beginning. For, without passing through each and every stage of development, there is not the correct vibration to become one with the Creator, beginning with the first vibration, as is of the spirit quickened with the flesh, and made manifest in material world (earth’s plane).

Then, in the many stages of development, throughout the universal, or in the great system of the universal forces, and each stage of development made manifest through flesh, which is the testing portion of the universal vibration. In this manner then, and for this reason, all made manifest in flesh, and development, through the eons of time, space, and CALLED eternity.

6. (Q) What is this spirit entity in the body, [900], and how may he develop it in the right direction? (A) This is only the portion that develops other than in the earth’s plane. Spirit entity. For soul’s development is in the earth’s plane. The spirit entity is in the spirit plane.

7. (Q) Does the spirit entity have a separate consciousness apart from the physical, and is it as the consciousness of [900] when he dreams, or has visions, while asleep? (A) The spirit entity is a thing apart from any earthly connection in sleep, yet connected. For the earthly or material consciousness is ever tempered with material conditions; the superconsciousness with the consciousness between soul and spirit, and partakes of the spiritual forces principally. In consciousness we find only projections of subconscious and superconscious, which conditions project themselves in dreams, visions, unless entered into the superconscious forces. In the consciousness of earthly or material forces there enters all the attributes of the physical, fleshly body. In the subconscious there enters the attributes of soul forces, and of the conscious forces. In the superconscious there enters the subconscious forces, and spiritual discernment and development.

8. (Q) Does the spiritual entity, after leaving this earth’s plane, have full realization of the physical life, or experience through which it passed while on earth’s plane? (A) It may, should it so choose. As has been given. As in this: In the way that the spiritual insight was given into the heart and soul of Saul of Tarsus, as he beheld his Master in that realm to which he had passed. The consciousness in the material world, through the material consciousness of another material individual. The vision as beheld by him, in the way that of the superconscious manifests in his subconsciousness.

9. (Q) The body, [900], has now full realization of [Mr. Cayce, breaking in: “No, he hasn’t the full realization of this, as yet.”] his individuality and of the personalities about him, all being in this earth’s plane. Will that full realization remain with him in the next plane, or when he leaves this earth’s sphere? Will he know he was [900] on earth, an individual with definite personality and character, and will he be able to realize that which he was and that which he has become? (A) When he, [900], has reached that perfect realization of these consciousnesses of personae and personalities of individuals, and of self, (to which he may develop) he will become able to attain such superconsciousness in a spiritual plane, as has been outlined. At present, no.

10. (Q) Now give this body, [900], that information which will lead him, when in communion with his God, and when in vision while asleep, to the knowledge of why the soul was fated to enter into all these experiences in order to develop of its own free will to perfection, and then return to God, when God first created souls in a perfect state. Was it to force the spirit to choose with its will the righteous path to God, in spite of any circumstances and conditions? Was it to see if that which once created perfect would return to the perfect? Explain and illustrate? (A) This we find has been given, and is manifest in the life of the lowly Nazarene. As has been given, man was made a little lower than the angels, yet with that power to become one with God, while the angel remains the angel.

In the life, then, of Jesus we find the oneness made manifest through the ability to overcome all of the temptations of the flesh, and the desires of same, through making the WILL ONE WITH THE FATHER. For as we find, oft did He give to those about Him those injunctions, “Those who have seen me have seen the Father,” and in man, He, the Son of Man, became one with the Father. Man, through the same channel, may reach that perfection, even higher than the angel, though he attend the God.

Dear Mr. [900]:

Well, I suspect you think that I’ve entirely forgotten my promise to write you. This is not the case, however, for I have been extremely busy of late - busy for me at least.

Our team won the debate that I wrote you about in my other letter. As you know, there’s quite a bit of work connected with the preparation and delivery of the same, and then the holidays have come along - well, I’ve just put it off.

I certainly appreciated your letter, and it was very interesting. Again, may I say that I feel we should be able to discuss many things of interest, concerning the Work and the Readings.

It was a very pleasing surprise to learn of my coming visit to New York. I feel that you over-rate my poor abilities, but I hope, and I feel sure that I will, get a new and better interest in the Work, if that be possible. It certainly seems the correct way to begin, and the CORRECT WAY is the ONLY one through which it will ever succeed, as experience shows. Yes, I’m indeed contemplating a most interesting, instructive and pleasant visit. There’s certainly great room for success, and success in a work of this kind would, I imagine, rate pretty highly.

Your last questions, on which a reading was given very lately, certainly brought out very interesting new phases. Some of these must wait, for even an attempted discussion, until I see you. We’ve gone over them very carefully and closely; that is, the answers to the questions, and we find that the more discussion means the bringing out of more sides and phases of the seemingly unlimited stock of information and thought. I wonder if you will get the same idea that I do from some of the advice given to yourself in one of these answers. As I told Daddie, I certainly think that he has passed to you some of the greatest compliments that I’ve ever heard given any man through a reading. Your possibilities seem unlimited; not in the coming eons of time, as Daddie expresses it, but in your present life, at this present day and time. Indeed, there may be many who have the ability, but few who realize the possibilities and advantages as do you. It will be more than interesting to watch the outcome.

You will by this time have gone over these last readings carefully, I feel sure. Have you ever heard a more scholarly and deep answer given to any questions than was handed out in the first one, of the second reading? Again, if I think aright, you wished for a little more detailed answer, and in this question, as in a few of the others, he discusses it entirely from a very broad standpoint. Indeed, in the last question, he doesn’t give the answer directly, as I see it, but rather goes around it. However, I believe that this reading, to-gether with the one from which we got the new idea of Christ, will be classed as the two most interesting and instructive, so far. There is certainly a world of material represented by them that needs much study and contemplation.

In the first question you asked, you are compared with three men. Two of these we could place. The last - Fliny, Pliny or Phryne, or however you want to spell it, we are unfamiliar with. Have you ever heard of this gentleman, or lady? I shall make it a point, if I am able, to make a study of the teachings of these three people, as soon as possible. From Daddie’s horoscope, I draw the conclusion that he is the first man spoken of, the Egyptian - [294] Ra-Ta, so it SHOULDN’T be very hard to get an idea of what he taught. Well, you have quite a job before you, for these men have made SOME impression; yet it is certainly the best, most interesting, most fascinating enterprise that anyone could ever undertake. Where these men have dealt with but one phase and side of man’s viewpoint, and without His example, you, with modern ideas and abilities, will be able to congregate many of these truths in a form for the modern world. If I have not made myself clear, I shall be prepared to do so when I see you.
