This psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at the office of the Association, Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 19th day of June, 1944, in accordance with request made by self, Miss [1968], Associate Member of the Ass”n for Research and Enlightenment, Inc.

Born November 22, 1910, in Pine Bluff, Arkansas. Time of Reading Set bet. 10:30 to 11:30 A. M. Eastern War Time. …, Ark.

1. GC: You will have before you the life existence in the earth plane of [1968], born November 22, 1910, in Pine Bluff, Arkansas, and the earthly existence of this entity in that of Ar-ba-ten in the Egyptian Land, and you will give a biographical life of the entity in that day and plane of earthly existence, from entrance - and how - into the earth’s plane, and the entity’s departure, giving the development or retarding points in such an existence.

2. EC: Yes, yes we have the records here of that entity now known as or called: [1968].

3. In giving the biographical sketch of the entity’s earthly existence as Ar-ba-ten in the Egyptian land, in giving the interpretation so that there may be application in the present, something of the happenings in an outline should be indicated.

4. As has been indicated, the entity’s entrance was during those periods when there were the turmoils and strifes because of the activities of the Priest. The entity was among those who had not been purified, but with the return of the Priest to what might be called the religious purposes in that period, that there might be unity between the natives and those who had been overrunners of the land, and then with the entrance of the Atlanteans, there became the necessity of the united effort which was accomplished under the leadership or direction of Ra Ta from the spiritual, or mental and spiritual angles of the experience.

5. The entity then, Ar-ba-ten, was one of those who passed through the Temple of Sacrifice, indicating how here there were those activities in the attempt to make or bring about the more perfect bodies, those not altogether in keeping, but hastening the law of the activities which would bring the more perfect bodies. Thus the Temple of Sacrifice was what would today be termed as the hospital or means for eliminating in varied manners, operative much, those appendages which hindered from the more perfect bodies, that might be brought to fruition in the offsprings of the body, that there might be the more universal form and figure in that which eventually manifested in the sons of God, through the lineage of the chosen of the Father.

6. In this the entity became the more perfect channel for offspring. Then in the Temple Beautiful was the interpretation of the manners of living, the interpreting of relationships between individuals, or the educational program as it would be termed in the present. The entity passed through these with the abilities to assist in aiding others in making their choices for that which would be called or termed, in the length of the day here, as vocational; where the entity would fit into those activities in church, as would be called, or state, for preparations of individuals to fill positions. For, as has been taught or learned in some, through the periods of gestation there may be those formations in mind, in body, as to make what the offspring might be, as to what they would fill, or places they would fill, as those entered into the experience of the earth existence.

7. Please give such information regarding past experience, if any, with which may be used as a helpful influence in my life as well as his.

9. These the entity did well and was in those positions of contributing that which later became active in the rulers of, and the directing of influences for good in that land, as well as in other lands.

10. Should I make any further attempt toward a closer friendship with [S…]?

11. Thus, as has been indicated and as should be, the entity may in this experience be the mother of those who may fill high places; and there needs be that those who fill high places in the present, and the more so for the days to come, be well grounded in the law of the Lord. For it is perfect and will convert the souls of men.

12. So in the application of self in the present Study first to show thyself in body, in mind, in purpose as one seeking to be a channel of blessings to others, keeping self unspotted from the world, condemning none, and as ye do this ye may become that channel through which help, understanding yea, many, many individuals may come to know the Lord. Remember as ye apply self, read, study how Hannah dedicated herself in body, in mind and gave, not by word, but by activity as well, her son to the glory of God.

13. Did I make the right decision in refusing to marry him?

14. As ye practice, as ye apply this in thy experience, ye may set thy face so that thy prayers, thy supplications may be heard, and He will not withhold any good thing from those who seek His coming. Thus, may ye apply in this life thy purposes to become the mother of those who may bless the nation.

15. That I may not fail in marrying the one best for me to aid in being a channel for the sons indicated - please advise me as to whom I should marry and how and where shall I meet him?

17. For the purpose of the sacred service entrusted to me - please give me any information that will enable me to realize the purpose for which I was given material expression - now?

18. Any other advice that would be helpful to me at this time?]

19. (Q) As Ar-ba-ten, in Egypt, what understanding was gained from Ra Ta which will enable me to carry out the purpose for which I made this appearance? (A) Just as has been indicated, realizing this. For since Ra Ta’s experience there has come in the earth that individual who presented himself as the sacrifice which was holy, which was acceptable. He has shown the way. His ways, seek. As ye apply His purposes, His hopes, may ye fit thyself, for the purposes chosen in the Egyptian period may be as a purpose in the present experience.

20. (Q) Please advise how I may go about preparing for the sons who will become emissaries? (A) Just as has been given. As outlined, first there must be the choice of thy associate, thy companion, thy husband. These, as have been outlined, must be in accord, or men of God, keeping God’s purposes, God’s ideals which will manifest in the Christ-Jesus as their ideal that they may practice it in their daily life. For, be not unequally yoked together with unbelievers. Ye did well in thy refusal of him, who in physical body appealed to thee, as thou didst to him, but let thy choice be by Father-God showing thou the way.

“Let my mind and my body and my heart be not deceived by those things of the earth, but in spirit, in truth, may I indeed seek to be Thy handmaid, a channel of blessings for my fellow man.”

He fails not to answer those. And already ye have known and may know well him who may be the father of thy sons. Ye have met him, ye have thought well, ye have dismissed, but he will return again.

14. (Q) What is meant in my life reading by the statement, “God brought such as thee into material experience to be the mother of God Himself?” (A) This indicated that through the channel of the entity as the mother, in the descendant came those who were in the lineage of Jesus of Nazareth.

15. (Q) What were my activities in the Temple of Sacrifice and in the Temple Beautiful that would aid me now in carrying out my purpose? (A) These have just been indicated. In the destruction of, how there were rid from the body, those appendages which would hinder from being the more perfect channel; in the Temple Beautiful, the preparation of mind and body and in meditation and in prayer. These are merely words which would be used to indicate what the entity would seek to attain.

16. (Q) What is meant in my life reading by the statement that I would have imposing dreams and how can I best interpret them to be helpful to me in the present? (A) These have come, these may come. Ye interpret them in thyself. Not by dream book, not by what others say, but dreams are presented in symbols, in signs. Oft they may be as opposite that which is presented to the body which has been in some of those indicated that bring warnings, blessings. Then keep thyself pure in mind and body. For the Lord’s are oft spoken in dreams, in visions. For He is the same yesterday, today and forever. Be not unmindful that there is the manner of life ye live so that ye merit this or that experience.

R2. 7/8/44, Saturday Afternoon, Miss [1968]‘s letter to EC:

Dear Mr. Cayce:-

This is one of those letters that doesn’t require an answer. Don’t you wish you had more like that? Well, I just want to thank you again for everything you have ever done for me and to tell you how much I enjoyed the Congress and attending your Sunday School classes and the Tuesday Night Bible classes. It really is a privilege to be in your home and meet all those wonderful people who are seeking better things.

I don’t guess I’ll ever be able to express my appreciate [appreciation?] for all you have done for me, but I am indeed grateful. If I can ever do anything for you, I hope you will call on me. One thing I can do is to keep 10:30 A.M. and 3:30 P.M. for you with a prayer. I hope to grow to be a better person so some day that will be more of a help to you than it is now.

I don’t have my pictures back yet, but if they are real good, I will send you some.

Give my love to everyone there. I think about you so much and the wonderful work you are all doing.

R3. 11/19/44, Sunday Aft., Miss [1968]‘s letter to EC:

Dear Gladys:-

I just had such a lovely letter from [3175] and among other things, she told me about the financial situation. It was a great surprise to me but I am grateful to her for letting me know how things are, because it gives me an opportunity to help.

I am inclosing a check made out to you, Gladys, and I want you to keep half and see that the Cayces get the rest. Maybe later I can send more. It’s not necessary that my name even be known in this unless you think it best. I’ll just leave that to your good judgement. And don’t bother to thank me because I know how busy you are.

I am just thankful that I can do something in a material way to express my love and faith and gratitude to you and the Cayces. It’s something that can’t be paid for in money, but it’s merely a gesture on my part to let you know that I add my prayers to this with the hope that something good may still come of Mr. Cayce’s illness. Perhaps it will make us all appreciate still more what he means to us and help us to use the information for service to others and for the glory of God!

Thanks again for all you have done for me and for what you mean to us all by your life and example.

R4. 11/27/44 GD’s letter to Miss [1968]:

Dearest [1968]:

You are the sweetest thing! That was the most beautiful letter I have ever had, sending your check. I could hardly believe my eyes when I saw the amount of it. Bless your heart! You can be sure that every penny of it will be used wisely and to the best advantage. I’ll let it go through the Association so you can deduct it from your income tax. Members have the privilege, you know, of saying how their money is to be used, so is you say your contribution is to be applied on Mr. Cayce’s and my salary, that’s that - and it’ll be used only for that purpose. It is a most remarkable demonstration, the way the money has been coming. Thursday we brought Mr. Cayce home in an ambulance from Roanoke and he has been getting stronger ever since he arrived. I stay with him every night right after dinner until two or three o’clock in the morning. Then Kathryn Patterson comes on duty - she is a wonder. She and I are the only ones who are strong enough physically to help him to and from bed. You see, his whole left side is practically helpless, though he can move his foot enough to take steps with us holding him, and this morning he moved his left hand for the first time. He is really just like a baby, so dependent, but we know that the healing must come from within. We are beginning the Wet Cell Appliance treatments tonight and I’ll give him the peanut oil massage afterwards, and keep it up each night. We have discovered that the only thing he was getting according to his reading was the colonic irrigations. Since he’s been home we’ve gotten him off of dope, so that he sleeps longer at a time without any sedative to make him sleep. We’re giving him positive, constructive suggestions about everything, trying to overcome the great fear he seems to have. We don’t leave him alone day or night, a single minute. Mrs. Cayce is about worn out but she is getting more rest now, and his sister Miss Annie Cayce is here taking over his diet - he wasn’t getting any nourishing food either - no wonder he had no strength. God bless you, dear [1968], and Mrs. [3175], Mrs. [264], and all the other dear ones who are “behind” us in this great battle between the forces of good and evil. I know that great good will come of it. We’ll keep you informed.

R5. 1/12/45 Friday Afternoon Miss [1968]‘s letter to Kathryn Patterson:

Dear Kathryn:-

Thank you for notifying me of Mr. Cayce’s passing. I am so grieved over his death. It just doesn’t seem possible that he is gone. He certainly led a full, useful life with so much service to others, and that is quite an understatement.

I guess only you and the others who knew him so well can realize how we all feel, those of us who loved him so much and realize what a great man he was in the true sense of the word “great”.

I had a letter from Mary Wirsing and one from Mrs. [264] and they will miss him as much as anyone I know.

I am so glad that you were with him in his last illness and I know you were a comfort to him and a great help to Gladys and Mrs. Cayce and the rest. I feel so sorry for all of them.

Sometime when you feel more like writing, let me know what you plan to do. I am wondering if you will stay on and help carry on the work. I feel that all of us who were fortunate enough to be associated with the work, should carry on in our own way with the light that we have of what should be done. I think we will all be guided to know what we should do.

I feel so sorry for Hugh Lynn, being so far away and I feel like it will be such a shock to him, because he had such great plans for the future when he returned.

I appreciate your friendship so much, Kathryn, and thank you for keeping me posted about Mr. Cayce, because you know how interested I have been in him and the work.

Please extend my sympathy to everyone there and give them my love.

R6. 6/15/46 REPORT ON LIFE READING OF MISS [1968]:

1968-1:

p. 2. “entity will have, as it has had, some very imposing dreams”

No, she hasn’t had any imposing dreams; however, maybe this is not meant in the literal sense.

p. 2. “cold, calculating” - doesn’t know, of course, what others think of her.

“friendships are few but sincere” - Yes, this is true.

“too analytic, puritanic” - probably mostly in respect to other religions, anything unorthodox. Says she is narrow-minded about drink; doesn’t like to go out with someone who gets tight; isn’t happy in crowd that drinks.

“disappoint in shortcomings” - Yes, that’s true; terribly disappointed in people.

“In Jupiter we find the far-off-ness” - a certain remoteness, yes.

“In the Uranian influence we find the interest in spiritual things” - yes, always has been deeply interested.

p. 4. “so alone” - yes, feels this

“great outdoors calls constantly, and must be seen as it were through the office window” - yes, (?) feels restraint of working in office, dissatisfied; doesn’t like being confined in an office (insurance); likes the outdoors very much, tho she doesn’t like sports.

“make cheer and comfort” - has been told she has this ability, esp’ly with children; very helpful to people.

p. 6. “you have met him, you love him, he has disappointed you” - yes; he was worldly type - a cotton exporter, traded with India, etc.; she felt he was too sophisticated for her. Later on he married somebody else, but at the time of this reading they were going together. Was disappointed in him only in sense that he was too worldly.

1968-5:

p. 2. “seeks travel, unusual places…timidity” etc. Yes, loves travel, is timid about things, though is overcoming it.

In what respects have the life readings been valuable to you?

Taught her not to judge people or be too critical. (telling her not to be too puritanical).

Given her deeper love for spiritual things and better understanding and helped her love other people more.

Given her insight into herself.

Given her a hope for the future, and faith, which she wouldn’t have if she didn’t know this was in the future.

Feels it’s the most important thing that’s ever happened to her.

Given her new philosophy of life - namely to be a channel of blessings to others.

Had never known about reincarnation before; had periods of belief and doubt.

R7. 9/2/46 Miss [1968]‘s letter to HLC:

Dear Hugh Lynn -

Just a short note to let you know that Daddy passed away on August 22nd. It was a great shock to us, because although we knew he had serious heart trouble, still he had been so much better the last two months. I am so glad it didn’t happen while I was at the Beach.

That just leaves Aunt […] (my step-mother) and me at home now, so it is quite lonesome.

It’s strange, Hugh Lynn, but I believe I miss Mr. Cayce just as much as I do Daddy. They were about the same age and a great deal alike (in my opinion) in that they were wonderful men and had the love of God in their hearts. The truths that I have learned from Mr. Cayce and the readings have helped me so much in times like this.

Tell Sally I appreciated her note so much from North Carolina. So glad she and Tommy had such a nice vacation but I know you were glad to get them home.

Hope you are all fine and not working too hard. Give my love to Gladys, Gina, and the others.

R8. 5/25/48, Monday Night, Miss [1968]‘s letter to Austin Rice:

Dear Austin:

I want to thank you again for the group letter and all the things you have done which are helpful - I am returning the money order to you because I really want you to keep it to partially pay for postage, etc. I realize that doesn’t begin to pay for your time, knowledge, interest, etc. but anyway, PLEASE keep it. I’d feel better about it really.

I believe that things will work out for your best interest, Austin, and anyone who is as sincere as you are is bound to have lots of good things come to them. I have my nouns mixed up, I think, but I’m on my thinking.

After all, you went down there for a year and maybe it will be best for you to take up your life again where you left off. I certainly hope everything works out well for you.

[264] let me read the copy of the letter your wrote Margaret [Trim] and you never did say whether you are coming back to Washington or not, but you know everyone will be delighted to see you.

I don’t know whether I will get to see you or not because I have decided to move back to [Ark.] soon. I certainly have enjoyed my year in Washington and I will always be grateful to you for the part you played in getting me up here, fixing my chart, etc.

I want to tell you a secret, Austin, and I hope you will be glad for me. I am engaged to [E…] He lives in …, Texas and is a draftsman for … Co. He is a year older than me (born 12/9/09 in Warren, Arkansas). My stepmother, Aunt […], is his father’s sister, but he is not kin to me, of course. I have known him since I was a little girl when they lived in …, Arkansas. Later I visited them when they moved to St. Louis, but had not seen them in several years. I’ve always thought he was a wonderful person but he always had another girl and then last year he started writing me occasionally.

Last month he and his mother wrote, inviting me to visit them so I stopped by there before going to … - a week was long enough for me to know I am doing the right thing in marrying him and he has all the qualities my reading said he should have, and more too.

I haven’t told my friends at home yet, but I plan to go back to … the first of June or as soon as I can get moved? Then Aunt […] and I are going down there on a visit too so we can make some definite plans.

He is a wonderful person and I am very happy about it, not only because of him but because I want to carry out my purpose. I haven’t told him about Mr. Cayce or the readings yet and think it best not to mention that yet, but I believe I will know when the right time comes.

I don’t know when we will get married, but I hope it will be soon.

I want to tell you something interesting. Vida Belk (a member of Max’s group) read my palm a few months ago and she said no matter who I married that I would always have a friend, a man, who would be my friend all my life. She said I would be a good wife and true to my husband but that this would be a platonic friendship that would be lasting. I think that is a very lovely thing and when she told me that, I thought to myself “That’s Austin”.

I hope it will be that way because I will always be interested in your welfare, and so grateful to you for everything.

I think you are a grand person and I’m so glad I know you.

R9. 5/28/48 (Friday) Miss [1968]‘s letter to HLC:

Dear Hugh Lynn:

Thank you for your letter, and congratulations to you and Sally on your second son. I think that is marvelous and I am so happy for all of you. Please tell Sally that our group enjoyed her letter so much too.

I hope the Congress will be a great success, but I will not be able to attend this year, and for a very good reason. I am moving back to Arkansas, in fact leaving in my car next Thursday, June 3rd, since it is nearer to Texas.

You see, I have interests in Texas now. In fact, while on a visit down there, I became engaged to […]. I have known him since I was a child. He is my step-mother’s nephew but not kin to me, of course. He is a wonderful person and exactly what my reading said he should be (a child of faith, etc.). I haven’t told him about all that yet, but it will come later.

He is draftsman for … Company, so I will live in … We haven’t made any definite plans yet, so I don’t know when we will be married. I just know that I am very happy about it, not only because of him but because I am glad of an opportunity to get started on my purpose as set forth in my life readings. I’m sure you know how important that is to me. I guess that makes me even more interested than ever that you and Sally have two sons. I know they are somebody special! Isn’t it wonderful?

Know you are busy as you can be with the Congress coming up, in addition to all your family plans.

You can tell Gladys and Dorothy about my engagement. I’ve already written Austin about it. You can also tell Mrs. LeNoir, Miss Edmonds and the Norfolk members if you think of it.

Also please have Dorothy change my address back to …, Arkansas instead of Washington now. Thanks.

R10. 11/16/49 Letter from Mrs. [264] to GD: ”…Have just heard from [1968]. She is expecting the baby any day now - and she is SO happy. Her husband took a course in ‘Baby Nursing’ from the Red Cross. She had an X-ray and it is a boy, so she wrote: ‘It is only one this time.’…

R11. 7/25/51 Mrs. [1968]‘s letter to HLC:

…, Texas

Dear Hugh Lynn:

Just want you all to know that I am still interested in the Association and everyone there at Headquarters, so am inclosing a check for the Foundation to prove it.

The reason I haven’t written before is that I stay so BUSY. This little boy of mine, now 19 months is right at the most active age and into everything. He is a wonderful little child, and I hope we can bring him up according to the readings and information. We also are very anxious to have his little brother (according to my readings), so say a prayer for us, please, that he will come at the right time.

I’m glad the Congress and also the Western Congress were such a success. Keep up the good work. Please give Sally and the boys my love. I think about them so often.

I told my [husband] about the Association and my readings. He has read “There Is A River” and is very interested. He hopes to come to Virginia Beach sometime and meet you and the others. In the meantime, there are some questions I want to ask, and will list them on a separate sheet. I know you are so busy, so please answer at your convenience, and we will appreciate it so much.

We brought a little new home last Spring and are enjoying having our own place and yard and flowers.

I’m not a bit modest about bragging on our little […]. He is unusually smart, sweet, cute, healthy, and handsome, and has lots of personality already. I’m looking forward to the day when we can come to Virginia Beach. It will be wonderful to see all my friends again.

R13. 9/20/52 Letter to HLC: “I enclose a check for the Edgar Cayce Foundation as a love offering in thanksgiving of my two sons. I would also like to call to your attention that these two sons were predicted in my life and physical readings in case you would like to make a notation on my file that this much has been fulfilled. I am very grateful and humble. Just hope I will be able to do my part now to bring them up properly so they can fulfill their purposes…

“Wish you could meet my family. […] is 2 and 1/2 now and going through the cowboy stage, or do they ever outgrow it? We named the baby […] and call him […]. He is 3 months old now and they keep me so busy, as you can imagine.

“I am so fortunate in having such a good life, full of the interesting job of rearing this family, but it is also full of timing and testing too with many problems of all kinds…

“If you have any advice to give me as a parent, I will welcome it.”

R14. 3/23/53 Letter to Gladys and Al Turner: “I wish for you two a long and happy married life together. The nicest thing I can think of is to hope that you will be as happy and as congenial as […] and I are. We believe that waiting until later in life to find each other has made us appreciate our marriage even more than if it had come when we were much younger.”

R15. 3/19/55 Letter to HLC: “I am secretary for the … CFO [Camps Farthest Out] Council Ring, which is a big job. Also [husband] and I have a prayer group that meets at our home every Thursday night.”

R16. 3/10/60 Letter from [264] to GDT: ”…I heard from [1968] occasionally. She and […], her husband, and the two adorable boys live in … Quite a tourists’ town during the winter, especially for skiing. They own and operate a motel there. She is so happy…”

Dear Gladys:

Happy Birthday on January 30! Hope you have a wonderful day and lots of nice surprises.

I think of you so often and appreciate all you have done and all the sacrifices you have made to further the work of the Association and to help make this world a better place for all of us.

Through the years, I’m sure that you have had many problems and that there have been many well-meaning but interfering people who have been “problem-children” so to speak. However, I hope that all of us who are your “public”, even with our faults and shortcomings, will radiate so much love to you and breathe so many prayers for our Father to bless you, that you will have more and more happiness with each new day.

You have always been an inspiration to me, Gladys, and I have always felt very close to you, in spite of the span of miles and the numbers of years since I have seen you.

So thanks for being you and such a wonderful channel for God to work through! Power to you, and keep up the good work.
