Protestant) This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at his home on Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 27th day of July, 1939, in accordance with request made by the self - Miss [1968], new Associate Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc., recommended by Mrs. [264].

Born November 22, 1910, in Pine Bluff, Arkansas. Time of Reading 11:10 to 11:55 A. M. Eastern Standard Time. …, Arkansas.

1. GC: You will give the relation of this entity and the universe, and the universal forces; giving the conditions which are as personalities, latent and exhibited in the present life; also the former appearances in the earth plane, giving time, place and the name, and that in each life which built or retarded the development for the entity; giving the abilities of the present entity and that to which it may attain, and how. You will answer the questions she may submit, as I ask them:

2. EC: (In going back over years from present - ” - ‘32 - formative and changing years - ‘29 - ” etc., on back to birth date.)

3. Yes, we have the entity now known as or called [1968]; an unusual personality, and in giving the interpretations, - the Atlanteans’ experiences are so vivid, these become as those individuals upon whom the real future of the state or nation will depend.

4. Hence in choosing the interpretations here of the records as we find them, these are given with the desire and purpose that this may be a helpful, hopeful experience for the entity; thus enabling the entity to realize and to be conscious of that purpose for which it is given material expression or manifestation in the present.

5. For, nothing comes by chance, - and God hath not willed that any soul should perish, but has with each temptation prepared a way, a manner of escape.

6. Then, the individual activities of each soul in materiality are to give expression - by choice of will - of the Creative Forces or God in the material plane.

7. Thence, as these interpretations give the inclinations, the weaknesses, the virtues, the vices that may become stepping-stones or stumbling-stones, these are chosen with the desire that this be a helpful experience.

8. For, if individuals were as mindful of what they have been as they are of what they are to be, this would become a much more interesting as well as a purposeful experience; for then, as He gave, those being on guard do not allow their houses, their own selves or their mental abilities to be broken up.

9. For, mind is the builder; hence, as each entity finds itself body, mind, soul within itself, it finds the counterpart - Father, Son, Holy Spirit. Thus it is understood how that the mind is the way, even as He has exemplified in the flesh the Way in which each soul may better manifest its relationships to the Creative Force or God, through the MANNER in which each soul, each entity, is treated, is mindful of, by self.

10. For ye show forth thy love, even as He gave, “As ye do it unto the least of these, my brethren, ye do it unto me.”

11. Thus is set an ideal, a pattern, a way in which, through which each soul then may judge, according to that which is, which becomes, which may be the urge latent and manifested in the material plane.

12. In the material sojourns we will find influences to the real emotions of the entity, - as we find in the astrological sojourns (as termed by many) urges arising from the latent forces, those that are just glimpsed within the mental self, or becoming dreams as it were of the entity.

13. And this entity will have, as it has had, some very imposing dreams. For as an Atlantean, manifesting those spiritual laws and spiritual truths in material application, these become at times very close to the surface in the experience of the entity.

14. Coming under the astrological signs that make for that as sometimes felt by others, as the entity has experienced, that the entity is cold, calculating, rather given to the mental emotions than so much of the purely physical emotions, - we find that the friendships that are made by the entity, while few, are very sincere. For what the entity chooses it becomes sincere with, - takes disappointments badly at times, and yet eventually - as it will understand from that which is being given - even as He - learning patience in those activities in the material world ye become more and more aware of thy soul and its dependence upon its relationships with God, Christ, Jesus.

15. In the astrological aspects we find that Mercury rules. Hence we find judgements, - the abilities to analyze.

16. Do not become too analytical for its own self, - but for a PURPOSE, yes. Be not puritanic, for as ye would be forgiven, so forgive those who disappoint and disturb thee oft in their shortcomings. Rather as He counseled with them, as He taught, - “and when ye have been converted, strengthen thy brethren,” these were the words He used to those nearest and dear to Him in the flesh.

17. So in self find those influences within thine own heart and mind that will enable thee to counsel thus with those disappointments, to those close to thee that ye have experienced. And know that love covereth a multitude of shortcomings. For even as He gave, “I condemn not - - sin no more.” Let that be then thy watchword. Let that be thy manner of approach to even those things that are so worldly-wise.

18. But know that in Him is wisdom indeed. And as ye hold to His tenets, His counsel, that wisdom which will bring peace and harmony in thy experience is indeed thine. For His arm is not short as man’s arms, nor are His promises dependent upon other than, “Lovest thou me more than these?”

19. These be the answers then within thine own heart and soul.

20. In Venus we find both love and affection, - that will be, have been far off, but will be within thine own experience.

21. Thus the home will become the really great adventure for the entity, - that it may through its own close work with God bring into BEING those who will be emissaries, - yea, be those who will rise in power in PRINCIPLE, in state and national associations and affairs.

22. This then is the glory, the crowning of thy patience, thy love, thy beauty of purpose, thy sincerity.

23. And above all, to self be true and - as has been given - ye will not be false to any. For thy body, thy mind is indeed the temple of the living God, and there He hath promised to meet thee consciously. And as ye become aware of His abiding presence, more of beauty and purpose and of harmony and of joy of life will indeed be thine.

24. In Jupiter we find the entity’s afar-off-ness, yet in that position where many may call the entity, the body, blessed for having given, for giving to the world that which will become such a blessing to many.

25. In the Uranian influence we find the interest in the spiritual things, as well as the awareness of that which is sordid. The extremes, ye know, meet only in the Christ, - who came unto His own and they received Him not. So in thy extremes, when ye become discouraged, disconsolate, when ye become in such an attitude as to wonder what is the way, know that He IS listening - listening! As Ye CALL, He hath said, “I will hear and will answer speedily.”

26. Then so live, so act that ye are ready, ye are EXPECTING Him daily.

27. As to the appearances in the earth, - these as we find are not so many that influence the entity in the present, and under such varied circumstances. Hence the reason, the cause why so oft in material things the entity finds itself so alone, - and yet in the most unexpected times and places - meeting self all over again, and finding that it would like to hold in such a way and manner, to embrace in such a way and manner as to know its source.

28. For the harkening is to something within that just evades self so oft. But know, He hath promised - that is able to keep that promise - “If ye abide in me and I in you, I will bring to thy remembrance all things from the foundations of the world. For ye WERE (as He gave) with me in the beginning.” And He is indeed then thy Lord, thy Brother, thy Aide in all things.

29. Before this we find the entity was in the land of the present nativity, - being among the first of those who settled in the land. Hence near and dear becomes this land, and yet the great outdoors calls constantly, and must be seen as it were through the office window - and yet these bring visions oft to the entity of fields and streams, of unseen treasure, - yea, of those associations with life in the “rough” as it may be called.

30. For the love of nature grows, and is akin to God. For all nature manifests life, and life IS the manifestation of God.

31. The name then was Warmack - Nan Warmack. The entity gained throughout the experience in its ability to meet and to cope with the turmoils of political as well as the relationships which arose with the disturbing factors of many natures.

32. Hence the entity is oft in the present called on to act as a go-between, to act as a mediator for others in their disturbances or their disputes.

33. Keep self not back, but know that as ye enter into such with that prayer, “Lord, be Thou the guide,” ye may bring to the experiences of many the awareness of His presence.

34. From that sojourn the entity gains those abilities to take WHATEVER may be at hand and use in such a manner as to make cheer and comfort in the lives of those about the entity.

35. Hence again the abilities as the statistician, or the copyist, - and yet the home becomes the near akin to that for which God brought such as thee into material experience - to be the mother of God Himself!

36. Before that we find the entity was in the Palestine land, during those periods when the Master walked in the earth; and the entity was aware of those influences of His life in that experience.

37. For was not the entity then the mother of Jairus’ daughter [[559]?] who became aware of His presence to heal body, mind and soul? [GD’s note: Mark 5:22-43, Luke 8:41-56. 10/4/29 See 2485-1 and 10/21/31 see 421-5 indicating that [2485] and [421] were also present at the healing of Jairus’ daughter. Also 8/9/36 see 1246-2, who was present. 5/25/34 See 559-7 indicating that little [559] had been “that one whom the Master called again from the deep sleep.”]

38. The entity doubted in the beginning, and yet received her own into her arms, - presented by Him.

39. How much more, then, may thy body in the present find in thy arms that which may indeed be the channel to tell the story of His love for man, of His filling the whole life purpose of man! How well does such fit the entity to tell to those who are young and old, the stories of the patience of the man of Galilee, - yea, of how stern He might be when He put the entity out of the room, as well as those of the household, because of doubt, - and then there are those lessons ye will gain from the experience, as to putting the whole trust in the faith of Him that IS the way and light and truth and understanding!

40. The entity was a joy to many throughout that experience; suffering oft in disputations, - being disturbed oft by the other individuals who caused the disturbance, - and yet the entity in heart and mind was at peace because of His blessings to thee!

41. Hold fast to that as ye gained in seeing in body the love in the flesh presented to thy arms, by the love of the Son of the Father, God!

42. Before that we find the entity was in the Egyptian land, during those experiences when there were the turmoils and the strifes that brought many desperate conditions in the experiences of those peoples because of the banishment of the Priest.

43. But the entity was among those of the children of the Priest’s daughter, that brought to the peoples the greater understanding in the activities of the Temple of Sacrifice, as well as the Temple Beautiful.

44. Thus, as the entity grew in grace - not only with the Natives but the Atlanteans that came into the land - there were brought greater opportunities for the application of love in the lives of those as they chose their activities in the various fields of service, - whether to become mothers, active in teaching or ministering, or to become active in the various capacities. For the entity aided them in their choice.

45. The name then was Ar-ba-ten.

46. Before that the entity was in the Atlantean land, during those periods of the first of the destructive forces.

47. There we find the entity was in a state of turmoil because of the activities of the sons of Belial, and with those of the daughters of the children of One. For the entity had disputations, - being physically in love with one of the sons of Belial, and yet giving in its service, giving in its activities with the children of the Law of One.

48. Hence disputations, and the giving away to fleshly desires arose.

49. Leave these far from thee in the present. For know, while they arise in thy experience in the present, there is the healing which comes in Him and the knowledge of His presence abiding with thee, that taketh away the DESIRE even for those weaknesses of the flesh.

50. The name then was Asmen-n.

51. As to the abilities of the entity in the present, that to which it may attain, and how:

52. Study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman not ashamed, but rightly giving the pressure where it is needed; giving credence where it has proven the measure to the standard in Him, thy Ideal.

53. The HOME is the real adventure, the real purpose of the entity’s expression in the earth. For as seen, in Atlantis the desire for same brought disturbance; in Egypt it brought the better understanding; in the time when the Master taught thee, there was the perfect home with His presence abiding there AFTER the awakening; in the experience in the present land, it brought a helpful force.

54. Hence in the present, build thine own home upon the sure foundation. Thou hast met him, - thou lovest him. He has disappointed thee, but bring that into thy heart and mind that - with the Christ-life and purpose - ye will bring into material experience a CHANNEL to be the blessings of the many. 55. Ready for questions.

56. (Q) Should I marry? (A) You should - as just indicated.

57. (Q) Whom? (A) As has been given, the entity knows him - she has been disappointed in him - but this can be amended.

58. (Q) How long should I wait? (A) October.

R2. 9/22/39 Letter from Mrs. [264] to EC: ”…Have had several lovely letters from [1968] in Ark. She said [R…] had been lovely to her ever since she returned. Have been trying to help her with her reading…”

R3. 12/14/39 Letter from Mrs. [264] to EC: ”…Have just had a letter from [1968] of …, Ark., and she is interested to know if she should get a check life reading, and on what appearance. From her life reading she believed that she should marry in October. This [R…], to whom she believed it referred, has been most attentive most of the time since she went home from the Beach. She has written me this, also that during the month of October he did not go to see her.

“[1968] is so anxious to do just what is right. She is taking her reading so very seriously, and has written me about it numbers of times. She is so desirous of fulfilling her destiny as outlined in the reading, and she firmly believes that it is according to the Divine Plan. She says that constantly she asks God to guide her.

”[…] is a cotton-broker and she says the war has seriously affected the cotton-market, so considering the many changes that have taken place since she got her reading, she believes a check reading would help her. Since she asked me what appearance would be most helpful, I wrote her that I was writing you.

“I thought possibly the Palestine experience might be the most helpful, since it seems to me, from that, she now has the urge to express, as the reading gave, in the present. I’d appreciate it so much if you’d read her reading and let me know what you think, and I’ll write her at once. She says she wants to get the reading as soon as she hears from me…”

R4. 12/16/39 Letter from EC to Mrs. [264]: ”…Have yours of the 14th. Have read over Miss [1968]‘s reading, and personally there is a question to me as to which would be the one to suggest for the check reading. If you remember, the Atlantean is referred to the very first of the reading, and is the one she is to meet most severely at the present. Evidently her friend was in the same period. It will be the most material-minded experience or temptation from that experience. And the one in Palestine she is doing something about it all, and that would give her more of the spiritual advice I am sure. So, would depend - does she seek to make a material manifestation now, the Atlantean; but if it is the spiritual development she seeks first, then the Palestine. That is my opinion in the matter. Would certainly like to be of help if possible, that you know. She may get bawled out in the Atlantean, and possibly it isn’t what she needs at this time…”

Dear Mr. Cayce:

I have intended to write to you sooner to let you know how things were going with me since my Life Reading in July. However, something slipped up and things did not turn out as they should have so I am asking your help again. Please give me a check life reading on my appearance at Atlantis and answer the questions on the attached list. I hope you can do this for me soon as I am very anxious to get everything straightened out.

If it will help you any in locating my other record, it was … given on July 27, 1939.

Please send a carbon copy of this check reading to Mrs. [264], as she has promised to help me in carrying out the things I should do.

I want to thank you again for all you have done for me and I hope after I get this check reading that I will have better news for you next time.
