This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at his office, 115 West 35th Street, Virginia Beach, Va., this 9th day of April, 1929, in accordance with request made by Mr. [195].

1. GC: You will have before you the enquiring mind of [137], of … Ave., N.Y. City, and the vision* that came to this mind concerning motor, concerning business of self, as well as organization of Ass’n of Nat’l Investigators, Inc. Also you will have body and enquiring mind of [195], present in this room, together with drawings X, Y and Z, being different positions of revolving drum relative to containing tank, held in hand of [195]. You will answer the questions as to vision, as well as to drawing held by [195].

2. EC: Yes, we have the bodies, the enquiring mind [137] and the vision as had respecting motor, also the enquiring mind [195] - with the drawing, or drawings, as held in hand, with vision of [137] - also [900] - as respecting motor and changes as regarding developments with same.

3. Now MUCH may be given as respecting the vision. Rather, then, will we give those questions. Ready for questions.

4. (Q) Is this vision correct as to time and to space used in new building? (A) This rather emblematical of the space as would be necessary for the handling of those conditions as would be connected with the development of motor. As is seen, space and place as reference to financial world, as well as for distribution of association with such conditions - or place, space, time, are all relative factors - and this gives to the mind, and to those associated with same, the relative conditions as respecting the magnanimous and enormous space,

5. (Q) The drawings X, Y and Z show central position of Drum in relation to central or dividing line of segments of containing tank. Considering the assembly, each has its good and bad points. Would drawing X, having center of Drum coinciding with center and dividing line of containing tank be the most logical assembly? (A) The drawing X here we may have the better relative force as was given in the relation of the angle as necessary. While that in Z offers also the same relative position, but produces such a condition in the first circle of rotation as to bring bad position for the rest of the getting together of the parts necessary. While in Y, these are overcome in part - still they do not give the proper relative forces in gathering, or in the combination. Then X offers the correct position for assembly and of developing the greater power.

6. (Q) Will present 7 inch pinions have to be enlarged to 8 inch so that side of barrel tank will not scrape tank wall in new position? (A) This the information given in why the necessity of the new tank and new tank position and pinions, to prevent this binding.

7. (Q) Should new container tank be made 1/2 inch wider as well as 3 inches greater in diameter than the present container at … St., Dayton, O.? (A) That is as has been given.

8. (Q) Regarding Hospital Cayce Hospital, 105th St. - later renumbered 67th St., Virginia Beach] - will well now through one strata to 35 feet have to be put through another strata to 45 feet for best water? [3/7/29 See 254-48, Par. 3-A, 4-A.] (A) This same strata is 35 to 45 feet in the strata. In the lower portion of same would offer the better water, with same cleared or cleaned by the proper pumping. In this relation, as has been given respecting water, this is of a better water than that in the current or surrounding country - better even than the city water; yet there are those elements of conditions surrounding same that will prevent this from being satisfactory. Then, this condition should be thoroughly ironed out, and that necessary change made as to make all satisfactory for the operations; for one already prejudiced against conditions cannot be satisfied with that even presented in a better manner. Then, use waters here outside, and make arrangements for the other to satisfy all conditions, see?

9. (Q) Does this mean it will be necessary to dig another well for drinking water? or connect with city water? (A) Just as given, there are those that - were twenty wells, even better than this - would not be satisfied without connection with city water. Hence these should be ironed out with those that are handling same. The Forces have given conditions. Give or act in that way as will give the satisfaction to the conditions as surround same. This water, as given, would be satisfactory. This water as is used here will NOT be satisfactory. These are contradictory, yet these would never satisfy some that ARE TO BE SATISFIED, see? Then, use these waters outside and connect for waters that would be satisfactory, for we have an ABUNDANT supply and it will be found there will be times when this will have to be used in the conditions as will come about.

10. (Q) Any other suggestions regarding any of these? (A) As has been given, much may be said concerning the visions as experienced by [137] - though the body has in the greater part interpreted same for self - be sure that same is in a WORKABLE way and manner, for with the various changes and with the various members of firm (nineteen in all) this expansion will bring many, many, different conditions in the lives of all.

In the vision as seen by [900] as respecting those interpretations of various theological subjects and the manner in which these are to be given, let the body mentally be guided by the vision - WITHOUT TOO MUCH projection of self, self’s interests, in same; keeping ever the first commandment in the forefront of all activity. In the varied conditions as arise, the various forces as would guide and guard the way will present to the body that as is necessary in the next step of development.

Will these keep, then, that as is committed unto THEIR care. We are through.

Dear Sir:

In regard to installation of pipe lines and appliances in connection with work at your hospital, I agree to the following.

I agree to furnish all labor and materials at the following prices:

50 lin. ft. 3/4” galvanized pipe @ .25 per lin. ft. 225 ” ” 1” ” ” .27 ” ” ” 450 ” ” 1 1/4” ” ” .33 ” ” ” 6600 ” ” 2” ” ” .37 ” ” ”

1---550 gallon pressure tank (installed 120.00 1--- electric driven crane pump (Cap. 1400 gal. per hr.) 257.00 2--- shower bath fixtures (complete) @ 8.50 each

I will furnish labor and materials for such work as cutting through concrete pit walls, disconnecting old pumps and connecting new ones, or any other work which you may order, for cost, plus fifteen percent (15%).

I shall request you to furnish any money which may be necessary for me to advance for city water meter and permits in connection with this work.

Owing to the great amount of material and also in order to take advantage of the cash discounts which I have figured in the above price, I shall request you to pay 75% of the cost of material when all of the material is delivered on the job and the balance of the entire amount at the completion of the job.

As per your conversation with Mr. Baldwin, the materials for this job have been ordered and will be placed on the job as soon as the necessary permit is secured from Norfolk & Southern Railway Company.

I also agree to give this job special attention and to perform the work in a satisfactory manner.

R4. 7/18/29 EC’s letter to [900]:

Dear [900]:-

In reference to the water supply, that you may have the whole thing before you in a concrete way:-

As I told you, we took up with Ashburn [Willard R. Ashburn, atty.] the matter of connecting with the city. We found we would have some trouble connecting with the real estate developments beyond the city limits, as they wanted to charge us half ow hat they had to pay in water line to connect with them, which would have amounted to approximately $1800, also 3 cents per thousand on water for that running through their pipe, and we take their meter reading, or they would approximate what we would use.

So, as Mr. Ashburn said, it would be well for us to have our OWN water line. While it makes it a little more expensive, it would certainly be more satisfactory and we would have a much better rate and a much more satisfactory supply, for we can pump directly from the city system, which we wouldn’t be allowed to do on the other - and this will insure an adequate supply at all times. So much for that!

We had 4 bids on this system. There was a difference of 900 between the enclosed bid and the highest, and 300 between the NEXT lowest bid and this one. As I figure, this is for the 2 water systems. It will take 6600 feet of 2” line to connect us with the city water; that is, our pump. It will take approximately 600 feet to install the line for our yard system, which prevents our having to use city water to sprinkle the yard with. This necessitates our purchasing this 550 gallon pressure tank, also the pump - or, in other words, the whole figure, outside of the work, will be approximately $3200. This is for both water systems, the shower, and everything complete.

Now the work on this will be approximately 15% of the cost price, which will be as you see - about $400. I’m sending you a copy of the letter from Mr. Gresham. He is the same man who has done our grading for us, and has done a great deal of work around the building - and we have found him trustworthy in every respect. He guarantees to look after this line after it is installed, should a leak occur he is to repair it without cost to us.

Now I would like to know about this right away. As you see, he has his pipe all about ready to be put on the job, the minute we get the notice to him. Ashburn has promised to have all papers ready from the city by tomorrow or next day. So would appreciate it if you would let me know about this by the first of the week. As you see, the price is made that we are to advance at least 75% - or when the pipe is in the ground we are to advance 75% of the cost price. In other words, we are getting this price, or saving what it would cost to put it in by paying the cost of the pipe or line CASH. I hope this will be satisfactory to you and [137]. Trust this will end a great deal of our troubles we have had respecting these conditions. Appreciate it if you give this your prompt attention.
