This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at the David E. Kahn home, 44 West 77th St., Apt. 14-W, New York City, this 19th day of March, 1935, in accordance with request made by the self - Mrs. [903], Active Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc.

Time of Reading 10:50 to 11:25 A. M. Eastern Standard Time. (Ck. Life Reading)

1. EC: Yes, we have had this before. We have the entity and those relations with the universe and universal forces, that are latent and manifested in the personalities of the entity now known as or called [903]. These we have given here before. Those experiences that show their manifestations in the urges and personalities of the entity in the present arise from the Grecian and the Indian appearances; and the astrological urges arise from the sojourn of the ENTITY in the environs of Jupiter - in the present, which - beginning with the 15th or 18th of April this year - will be in the greater benevolent influences in the experience of the entity during this present sojourn, and there will be those greater opportunities for the mental and soul development for the entity during the next three years. These are owing to the activities through the astrological sojourn that bring to the entity’s experience the advancement in its associations. As to whether the entity applies or uses these depends upon the will of the entity and its reactions to those opportunities as they present themselves in the experience.

2. Also we will find the Indian sojourn, where the entity from its activities in the plains and in the hills of the land came under the influences of the teachings in the experience, will make for those abilities within the self to advance in the personal and material application of same in the experience of the entity in the present.

3. These arising, then, make for those opportunities for the entity, and these are the experiences that make for the greater soul development in the present sojourn.

4. Ready for questions.

5. (Q) Will you give some detail of the Indian incarnation, indicating the particular urges brought to this present experience? (A) As indicated, when there were those activities from those in the hills and in the plains and the overrunning of the land for the superior action of the individuals during the entity’s sojourn there, they bring in the present the opportunities for the material application of those tenets, those truths that may be applied in the body-consciousness in raising to the mental forces the awareness of the spiritual import in this present experience.

In that sojourn we find there were the warrings of those from the hills who came into the valleys for the material sojournings or activities; and the expressions of same were, as has been indicated, not in warring as with weapons of materiality but in the application rather in the experience of those that would make for not merely the conveniences in the physical body or the things pertaining to materiality, but as to how the individuals in their application might make for the awareness of the oneness of the influences in the spiritual force as to the mental and material bodies.

6. (Q) Was the entity associated with Dr. [866] in the Indian incarnation? (A) Dr. [866] then led those in not what would be termed a rebellion, but rather as a supplanting of the associations in what would today be termed activities in the economic and in the social experiences of the individuals. For as was given then, this became the class separation by the manner in which individuals purified themselves. The entity’s associations then were as a pupil to the teacher, as would be said in the present.

7. (Q) Are his present teachings in this incarnation to awaken the latent possibilities of this entity, [903]? (A) As indicated, with the astrological and with the material or earthly sojourns coming in conjunction or in those activities such as to make for the OPPORTUNITIES for the awakening, if the entity embraces or applies or absorbs - as it were - through the mental and physical application of such truths, such tenets, then there will indeed be that awakening; for indeed the teacher is STILL the teacher.

8. (Q) In what incarnation was the entity associated with Ann Schwartz? (A) We haven’t an Ann Schwartz. We will find it. (Pause) Yes. Ann Schwartz, then Benenda, in India - or now known as India - was an associate in those activities; for this entity then aided Benenda in gaining the knowledge, the understanding of the teachings in that experience. The entity, then, as it were, in the present makes for the reversing of the experiences.

9. (Q) What was the relationship with the entity’s present children [sons [759] and [773]]? (A) These have been indicated, of course, in their associations; not in the Indian as we have here, but those necessary.

For a moment, let’s turn to what IS that termed as the Akashic Record, or that which may be said to be Destiny in the entrance of a soul into materiality. For remember, matter moved upon - or matter in motion in materiality - BECOMES the motivative force we know as the evolutionary influence in a material world. An entity or soul is a portion of the First Cause, or God, or Creative Energy; or the terms that may be had for the MOVEMENT that brings matter into activity or being. Hence souls in their varied experiences - whether in the earth or materiality or in the various spheres of activity about the earth (termed the astrological sojourns and their influences, where there have been the fruits of what? Spirit! as the motivative forces in a contact) - are again and again DRAWN together by the natural law of attractive forces for the activity towards what? The DEVELOPMENT of the soul to the ONE purpose, the ONE CAUSE - to be companionate with the FIRST CAUSE!

Then as the entity here contacts in materiality those of its own body, those of its own sympathetic condition, it is for the development of each in its associations one to another toward that First Cause.

As to each of the children then, as we find, these have been leading one another, leading self, the ego, to these varied activities.

10. (Q) What was the relation, and in which incarnation or incarnations, with the entity’s present husband? (A) These associations were much later, and were - of course - in the Grecian and in that previous to the American Revolution.

11. (Q) What was the entity’s relation, and in which incarnation, with Edgar Cayce? [294] (A) In the INDIAN!

12. (Q) What was the relation at that time? (A) The associations and activities arose from the activities of the Priest in the Egyptian experience with the Indian; for these were collaborating experiences.

13. (Q) In what way can the entity assist in this period? (A) The unifying of the activities, for these were one.

14. (Q) What was the entity’s relation with [849], and in which incarnation? (A) During those same experiences when the entity [849], as called in the present, then Abeniel (?). After those rebellions in Egypt, the entity aided the entity now called [849] in finding self.

15. (Q) Is my present development on the road to fulfilling my karma? (A) MOST individuals in the present misinterpret karmic conditions. The development or destiny as karmic influences - each soul, each entity, should gain the proper concept of destiny. Destiny is within, or is as of faith, or is as the gift of the Creative Forces. Karmic influence is, then, rebellious influence against such. When opportunities are presented, it is the entity’s own WILL force that must be exercised - that which has separated it or has made it equal to the creative influences in the higher spiritual forces to make for itself that advancement. Then in EVERY contact is there the opportunity for an entity, a soul, to fulfil or meet in itself or its soul self’s association with the Creative Forces from the First Cause, to embrace that necessary for the entity to enter into the at-oneness with that Creative Force. Hence as for the entity’s fulfilling, it is EVER on the road. As indicated, during the next three years, during the astrological and the coordinant influences through the earthly experience, the greater opportunity for fulfilling same is before the entity, [903] called in the present.

16. (Q) In what material sense can I best demonstrate these truths? (A) Within self, within the abilities to eradicate this, that or the other influence that SEPARATES the inner self from being aware of the oneness of all force and power that manifests itself in the earth or in the influence about same. By eradicating that which doth beset; which means becoming more and more aware of the fruits of the spirit that are set by all: Love, hope, brotherly love, faith, fellowship. These are the fruits of the spirit. These the entity make aware of, that as the body thinks, as the body limits itself in any NEGATIVE influence, then it becomes aware in that direction. As the body embraces all as a positive influence or force, more and more does the growth come to the awareness of MAKING itself, the soul, at-one with the Creative Forces. See?

17. (Q) Explain just what part this entity played in bringing together the work of present [866], in his Indian incarnation, and the work of present Edgar Cayce as the High Priest of Egypt at the same period? (A) As there were those activities that made for the coordinating of the oneness of the purposes and desires of each, the entity aided in bringing to those that acted as emissar ies the COORDINATIVE forces in the teachings of Ra-Ta (now Edgar Cayce) and the teachings of Saneid (now Dr. [866]).

18. (Q) Just how can the entity assist in coordinating their work in the present? (A) By making for the cooperative forces in the individuals that may be through their own inner development aware of the ONENESS of the influence such may make in the individual application of same in their experience.

19. (Q) Does the entity understand correctly that she has never been previously associated with her present children? (A) Not for their own soul and spiritual development. Materially, yes; in those activities, though, that made for MATERIALITY they came to the entity in those material associations. In this it is their SOUL development, see?

Keep, then, that opportunity that through the Creative Forces as in the astrological, the higher soul development from the material planes that are influencing the entity in the present, there may be such an at-oneness with that that there may be brought THIS awareness; that what is constructive in the influence of any soul is of the spiritual force or God influence - and that which makes for the separation of same is that which will weaken and sap the materiality in any soul.

R11. 9/13/44 GD’s letter to Miss [5230]: “Mrs. [903]‘s rdg. (903-33) gave information very similar to yours, when she asked about the type of work she should do. She felt, just as you do, that it was not applicable and that she was too old, anyway, to start anything along that line. Soon afterward conditions began to develop which made her see that she was quite well fitted to do exactly the type of work the rdg. suggested. I’m sure she would be very glad to discuss this with you. Her address is…”

R12. 2/26/47 Mrs. [903] wrote, after having been enrolled for some time in a class under Dr. Gardner Murphy, psychologist (See page 342 of the book, THERE IS A RIVER by Thomas Sugrue): “Murphy came up to me yesterday and said, ‘Mrs. [903], when am I receiving the Cayce material?’ I was so surprised I fairly mumbled my answers. I definitely feel his ‘attitude’ in the past is not so much the book - but his chagrin in realizing he muffed the opportunity of studying a more intriguing phenomena than any we’ve touched yet. It’s a kind of permanent mockery. Well, send on the excerpts and copies of doctors’ reports, results and conclusions…with a footnote giving the number of authenticated cases in our files… Half the class knows about Cayce now, due to library interludes, and one magician in our group, an open minded one, said he could prove possible fraud, or the telepathy hypothesis on all our cases so far, but Cayce stumps him… Ask Gina Cerminara to drop me a line saying what she is doing on the book (MANY MANSIONS, 1950, William Sloane Associates), how she plans to treat reincarnation via Cayce as a point in evidence. I want to show it to Murphy. He’s dying to get at it, but he’ll have to wait. I only want Gina’s letter as a teaser, and I want him to know about her. He was really happy to know we were treating the records in the honored and traditional manner.”

R13. 3/4/47 Gina Cerminara’s letter to Mrs. [903]:

I thought you and Tom Sugrue] might like to know how things are proceeding on the life-readings book. Something more than half the chapters are written. I believe that I will have completed the rest by July.

More and more I am struck at the integrative effect such knowledge as this can have upon all the sciences of man. Jung remarked, in the foreword to a book written about his psychological system by Jacobi,

“Since it is my firm conviction that the time for an all-inclusive theory, taking in and presenting all the contents, processes, and phenomena of the psyche from one central viewpoint, has not yet come by a long way, I regard my theories as suggestions and attempts at the formulation of a new scientific concept of psychology based in the first place upon immediate experience with human beings.”

I have no doubt any longer but that the data of the Cayce readings present that “all-inclusive theory, taking in all the contents, etc. of the psyche from one central viewpoint”.

I am trying throughout, after presenting the evidence, to show this centrality of viewpoint, and to integrate the reincarnation principle with the sciences of psychology and psychiatry. Naturally, education, religion, philosophy, and sociology cannot but be transformed in turn.

One of Nieztsche’s phrases which struck me most on reading him in college was “the transvaluation of all values”. I don’t recall at the moment how he expected this to be accomplished - I think perhaps it was merely one of the outpourings of Zarathustra. But the phase often suggests itself to me as I reconstruct the evidence on these cases. A transvaluation of all values must certainly be the ultimate result to society if psychologists will have the wit enough the grasp the implications of these readings.

R14. 4/20/47 “Dr. Murphy felt the rdgs. were too brief and now says since they are to be screened medically, the entire record should be sent - that which may not seem important to a layman may become a clue to a doctor. Also he suggested that I meet Dr. Jan Ehrenwald and have him study the cases. His book will be published soon - a medical man and his studies of the paranormal. He arrived in this country about 6 months ago from Prague - Murphy is very excited about him. He told me last week that he is disappointed in the students in the class who profess their interest in this field. He said, ‘You can’t be interested in this subject - it has to become your life’s purpose.’ He also said how much he wished we’d go on working with the society (American Psychic Research Society) after the term is over. I asked him in what way and he explained how many experiments are waiting to be made and how they needed the right people to do them. So I suggested that he share this hope with the class since obviously none of us had the slightest idea there was work to be done. He did that after Tuesday’s session and I’m going to see that a few of us do continue. He even offered money to those who would need it for their particular experiments.”

R15. 5/12/47 “It’s been stiff going, but I feel we’ve gained a great deal in the laboratory field. I only wonder any results are obtained considering the approach and controls.”

R16. 8/51 She sent GD card from Athens, Greece: “Here we are sitting on the Acropolis wondering just exactly who played what parts 2500 yrs. ago. The trip is interesting and we’re all well.”

R17. 11/24/64 GD’s note: Through the years Mrs. [903] has remained actively interested and helpful in the A.R.E. work.

R18. 4/1/76 Mrs. [903] wrote GD: “Your remembrance of my birthday always brings a glow. How precious is the bond that remains unbroken over the long years!

“I spent some time with Hugh Lynn on this [N.Y.] trip, as well as Gina. The symposium was a huge success. After such a long absence the ‘package’ was made welcome. The forces are keeping the A.R.E. galvanized - no sooner is one project completed than another is made in readiness.”
