This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at his home on Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 7th day of September, 1938, in accordance with request made by the self through wife - Mrs. [757], Active Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc.

Time of Reading 10:50 to 11:05 A. M. Eastern Standard Time. …, California.

1. GC: You will give the present physical condition of this body, with suggestions for further corrective measures; answering the questions that may be asked regarding same.

2. EC: Yes - we have the body here, [909]; this we have had before.

3. As we find, many changes have taken place in the physical forces of the body since last we had same here. All of these have not been for the betterment of the body. But as we find, the acute conditions with the functioning of the organs have arisen from the general condition - rather than from that of an organic nature, as would appear in the present circumstance.

4. The attempts and the activity of the body in locomotion, in the attempts for activity, we find - owing to the unbalancing of the activity in locomotion - have brought about pressures to bear on the cerebrospinal nerve system; and especially upon centers or ganglia from which impulses are responsible for activity to the organs of the body - or areas that are directed by the impulse through their activity.

5. This has slowed up the activity in eliminations, and hence this - causing a pressure to the alimentary canal, especially in the areas of the colon; as a portion of the transverse and descending - has produced an engorgement.

6. Pressures there, owing to the engorgement, have made and do make for the gas as well as a physical reaction of the nature to produce pressures upon the POSITION of the organ of the heart itself.

7. Hence we have had not only an irregularity in its pulsation or in its activity but such a change as to cause an unbalancing in the flow to which the blood is carried in its flow FROM the heart itself. This has in a manner produced conditions that then cause a great deal of anxiety to other portions of the system.

8. Now as we find, the rest will aid; and should be a part of the applications.

9. But we would have sufficient of the manipulative measures osteopathically, as combined with those applications of the nature to empty the colon and remove the poisons from the system - and thus make for the ability for the adjustments in the segments in the upper dorsal as well as in the lumbar and especially the lumbar axis centers - as to relieve these disturbances.

10. These then we would do.

11. First, keep - of course - the quiet for the body; but have an osteopath to aid in not only the colonic irrigations but in the adjustments along the cerebrospinal system for the relieving of the areas that have become unbalanced.

13. Ready for questions.

14. (Q) What causes the lump in lower right groin? (A) This is an effect of the very condition indicated of the unbalancing of impulse for eliminations as from the system itself. Hence as indicated, the lower lumbar and especially the lumbar axis - and with the removal of these pressures we should find the system’s ability to separate and to alleviate the cause of the rising or the kernel or enlargement there.

15. (Q) How often should the osteopathic manipulations be given? (A) This will depend, of course, upon the response the body makes and the ability of the body to remove the pressures. Of course, in the first this will require about three treatments a week, but later they would gradually grow less and less.

16. (Q) How often the colonic irrigation? (A) This again, as indicated, should be under the supervision of the one making the manipulations; whether these would be once a week or once a month or once a day until the condition is alleviated, will depend upon the responses of the body.

Do that, then.

R1. 9/11/38 Wife’s letter: “Mr. [909] and I want to thank you for your kindly attention and advice. It has relieved my mind and we will carry out the treatments. The colonic irrigator is out of town just now and it will be a few days before we can get started. I am giving him the diet and other tr. you advised with the first rdg. It has helped him and will until I can get the colon irrigated. We again thank you very much and I will let you know how he is getting along. Enclosed find a ck. and I will be glad to send a little more later on.”

R2. 3/17/39 Mr. [909] and wife sent small ck. as birthday gift to EC.

R3. 6/9/39 Wife renewed membership saying they had moved to another town, and were trying to sell their old place: “Please hold a good thought for us. We have had a very upsetting year. Too lengthy to explain.”

R4. 10/12/39 Wife’s letter indicated they had moved back to their old home: “Mr. [909] is not at all right. HEART, the doctors say. Naturally I am upset and grieved, but hope now that I am back in my own home again some of it will settle, as this last year or more we have had a lot of upset. Not Mr. [909] and me, ourselves, but other things have come in that have just about wrecked us, and I hope for a word of encouragement from you.”

R5. 2/3/41 Wife’s letter: “I am sending a ck. for $5 to be applied to the expenses for housing your very valuable records. We enjoyed the visit with Mr. and Mrs. Kahn. Have had a great deal of rain this winter and as it is our next summer’s water supply we are always glad to get plenty of it. Mr. [909] and I are fairly good, and trust this finds you well. With good wishes to all your work and workers, we remain, Mr. [909] and Mrs. [757].”

R6. 7/24/41 Wife’s letter: “It is with great sorrow that I write this letter, for I lost my beloved mate of many years last Sunday. His heart has been troubling him for some time but I always hoped for the best, but my hope was not realized, and now I am entirely alone, as I have no one except one brother living in N.Y. A prayer and a word of comfort would be appreciated.”

R7. 7/31/41 EC’s letter: “Am indeed sorry to hear of the passing of Dr. [909] - realize there is little one can say to one who has lost a mate. Had looked forward to meeting you and your husband. Now it will be in another plane of activity, but feel you know that while he may be away from you in the physical, in the mental and soul he is nearer than ever, and will be as much dependent on you as ever, only the trials, the worries and the suffering of the physical are gone. As we have and do put our trust in Him who is the resurrection, we realize life is one continuous stream, and not something cut short by so-called death. For death in the physical is birth in the spiritual, and Mr. [909] is much more alive now to the things you have studied in the last few years than he ever was. Do not mourn for him. Live rather for him, in that way that helps keep his consciousness in that way of thought onto greater glory in Jesus the Christ.”

R8. 1/15/42 Mrs. [757]‘s letter: “I will indeed set aside a few moments each day for prayer. May peace come to the world soon.”

He is home in bed and will be for some time. Naturally, I am worried and will appreciate your help. Also has lump in lower right groin close to scrotum. Will hold a loving thought for you each morning between 10 and 11.”
