This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at the office of the Association, Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 5th day of June, 1942, in accordance with request made by the self - Mrs. [934], Associate Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc.

Time of Reading 4:00 to 4:05 P. M. Eastern War Time. …, Va.

1. GC: You will give the physical condition of this body at the present time, with suggestions for further corrective measures; answering the questions, as I ask them:

2. EC: As we find, there are some improvements in the general conditions in the body.

3. While there was a lack of the proper eliminations in the activities given for the restoring of coordination between the superficial AND the deeper circulation, - that is, the character of massage, - we find that some improvement is showing; and the reaction of these activities has caused periods of MUCH improvement in portions of the disturbing conditions.

4. There is the need that there be at least MORE of such applications, properly administered.

5. We would put about ten days to two weeks between the colonic irrigations, now. These have been very well given, but we would insist there be used in the first waters the soda and salt, - in the proportions of a level teaspoonful of salt to the half gallon of water, and half a teaspoonful of soda. In the last quart of water used for the rinsing, put two tablespoonsful of Glyco-Thymoline.

6. Now we would administer three to four - perhaps six - osteopathic adjustments, with special reference to the eye eliminations; and thus such an one that is in accord with this information should give same. Irvin would be well here, see? These should be given with special reference to the neck, to the area from the 3rd dorsal to the face and head.

7. As a wash for the eye we would use a mild antiseptic. Some that have been applied have been too severe. A warm solution is preferable to using same cold. This should be an acid, but sufficiently mild to enable the circulation to absorb through contact with the eye itself and aid - through the stimulations to the eliminations - in throwing off the poisons.

8. Ready for questions.

9. (Q) Is the alcohol solution used in the hydrotherapy place all right, or should I have one made? (A) This is very good, though it would be better to have a grain alcohol solution rather than the distillate solutions - for these carry some poisons, to be sure.

10. (Q) Should I have the eye externally treated, or cleansed, by an eye specialist? (A) If you wish to pay that price, all right! but if you will use an antiseptic - mild antiseptic solution, you can do it better than most of them will!

11. (Q) Is the eyesight in my right eye permanently impaired? (A) No.

12. (Q) Will there be a scar? (A) Will tomorrow come! This is foolish! [See 934-12, Par. R1 for questions that did not get asked.]

13. We are through for the present.

R3. 7/3/42 C. W. Irvin’s letter to EC:

Mr. Edgar Cayce, Arctic Circle, Virginia Beach, Virginia

Dear Mr. Cayce,-

I want to thank you for the patients you have sent me recently, and I also want to tell you about one of them.

When Mrs. [934] from … came in to me some three weeks ago, she had a condition in her eye which was about the worst of its kind I have ever seen, and had she come to me from any other source, I would have refused to treat her, for honestly, I would not have known what to have done for her. But when she gave me her reading, I decided that I would carry out your instructions, but frankly, I thought that we had met our waterloo - you in sending her to me, and I in trying to do anything for her, but when she came in for her second treatment there was a marked improvement in her condition, and every time she returned, I could see further improvement; she was in to see me today, and the eye is almost back normal again. This was one patient whose money I had decided to return to her after a few treatments, but as happens so many times in life, I was figuring too far ahead, but to my dying day this patient will always be a miracle to me.

Thank you again for referring this work to me, and I assure you of my hearty cooperation.

R4. 7/6/42 EC’s letter to Dr. Irvin:

Dear Dr. Irvin;-

Thank you for yours of the 3rd and your reports on those who have come to you - especially Mrs. [934], am glad for her and for you that she is better and appreciate your letting us know - it is just such reports from Dr’s and people all over the country for years and years - is why we try at all - I know of myself can do nothing, but when people get results like this well its worthwhile. Know it has been true in my own family - and there are hundreds yes thousands of others who say the same - All Praise to HIM and those who help when the suggestions are made.

Thanking you and will try and stop in and see you next Wed. afternoon the 8th if you are in.

R5. 5/59 Monitor Radio tape transcript regarding Case [934]‘s eye condition, by C. W. Irvin, D.O.:

Announcer: More experiences in the life of this mystic in the next chapter in the series on Edgar Cayce the mystic of Virginia Beach. Here is Walter McGraw with another chapter in the series of Edgar Cayce, a man, who with no medical education, found that he could put himself to sleep and diagnose and prescribe the illnesses of persons thousands of miles away.

W. McG.: Up until the time of his death in 1945, thousands of people wrote to him, often giving him no details whatsoever. And very often, in his so called readings, he would even recommend by name and address the doctor they should go to for treatment. One such doctor was C. W. Irvin of Virginia Beach [Norfolk], Virginia, who tells this story:

C. W. Irvin: One patient I remember was a Mrs. [934]. She ran a restaurant down at … and the woman was practically blind. When I talked to her and read the paper she had with her, I thought, well here’s where I catch up on him. He told me to move certain vertebrae in her neck, that it would cure her blindness. Her eyes were absolutely white, so I treated her just as he said. I instructed her to come back one day later. She came in the next day and I treated her again. I told her to come back the following day. She came back the following day and her eyes were as clear as mine and I had never done anything for her except what Edgar Cayce’s reading had said to do. From that time on, I followed Edgar Cayce’s readings very, very closely, and I didn’t treat one patient that I didn’t get results.
