This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at his home on Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 10th day of April, 1941, in accordance with request made by the self - Mrs. [934], Associate Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc.

Time of Reading 3:40 to 3:50 P. M. Eastern Standard Time. …, Ohio.

1. GC: You will give the physical condition of this body at the present time, with suggestions for further corrective measures; answering the questions, as I ask them:

2. EC: Yes.

3. As we find, there are greater disturbances as after effects from those conditions as we have indicated - of the glandular disturbance as manifested in measles - in the strain of the eye.

4. With those general tendencies that have been indicated in times back of disturbance to the kidneys, arising from conditions in the organs of pelvis, - the lack of taking precautions has caused the disturbance to the eyes proper - now.

5. Rather than applying the Mutton Tallow, Turpentine and Camphor compound to face, apply it across the small of the back and put the heat there. It will do MUCH more good.

6. Keep the eliminations with a vegetable compound, - as the Castoria or Syrup of Figs, taken in small quantities often, - and then after there has been the activity from such, flush the system with a good saline, - such as either the Eno Salts or Sal Hepatica. Possibly the Sal Hepatica would be the easier to take.

7. These activities we would keep, and remain quiet. Do not attempt to use the eyes. Keep in a shaded room. Do not read by artificial light nor in too strong a light, or too strong sunlight.

8. Taking these precautions, we will bring the better forces for this body.

9. (Q) Should any local application be made to the right eye to take out the swelling and relieve pain? (A) Only some good antiseptic. Any good eye antiseptic.

10. (Q) Are any of my teeth causing any trouble? (A) Rather the general trouble is causing some disturbance with the teeth, as we find.

11. (Q) What causes the sinus or catarrhal trouble and what can I do towards curing it? (A) All of this is a combination of the disturbances as indicated. Apply the rub and the heat across the kidney and small of back, see? and keep quiet for three, four, five days.

Do not ATTEMPT to work until ALL of the disturbance has gone, and THEN the body should rest at least a day - on account of the eyes and using same; else we will have trouble later on that may be of greater disturbance.

R1. 4/14/41 [934]‘s letter to EC:

Dearest Eddie Cakie:

Your “Problem” has a most disturbing problem of her own now. I am so worried because I have lost two going on three weeks of work and I’ve spent every cent I had on medicine for These two cases of measles. My eye just simply wont get any better and I’ve got to go back to work soon or I don’t know what will happen to [1208] and me.

They have had to give my work to another girl at the office and now that I have this offer at the Beach they wired me to come as soon as possible. What shall I do Eddie Cakie. Do you suppose I am too inconsistent with God that I am punished this way. I just can’t understand it. I want to do what is right and I thot I was doing pretty well but to have had this happen to me especially with the responsibility of my boy. I am not so much afraid for myself but I must get well so I can care for him. I love him better than anything on the earth and I am glad for the opportunity of caring and watching and training him. Of all the people that love him too, I feel that I am the one God chose to raise him and I do want to take advantage of the great privilege.

In case anything should ever happen that I couldn’t, I hope you and [288] will look out for him. My people love him but they know nothing of the future we plan for him and that is why I believe you should have him.

This is a serious matter to me and I want so much to get better. Would it be asking too much to ask for another check reading some time this week? I can’t bring myself to go to a doctor because with them it is only guess work and I can guess. From the last check reading I gained a lot of good information on the care I should exercise over my physical body but I have followed it as closely as I know how but still the trouble persists. There is a film over my eye that wont come off and it burns and stings. I have been using an ointment called Mettycaine that I got from the druggist that has alleviated the intense pain somewhat but I am a little dubious now as to the good if not harm it has done. I’ve also used 20% solution of argerol and a solution of boric acid; putting the mutton tallow compound on my back and applying the heat lamp twice a day. I haven’t read but I have typed a few letters but I don’t have to look at the typewriter and I can do it in the dark. (Hope you can read it.)

Use your own judgement Cakie whether or not you think another reading will help. I don’t know. Perhaps I am too impatient but I can’t help worrying. We need the money I earn so desperately. I have a great faith in God but I also feel that I should help myself as much as I can and it certainly isn’t his fault that I am in this predicament. Am I wrong Cakie. Am I on the wrong track? So again I am asking you for spiritual help and advice. I need you Cakie, VERY MUCH.
