Date: 12/21/1937 Sex: M Age: 23 ReadingID: 5834
This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at his home on Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 21st day of December, 1937, in accordance with request made by the self - Mr. [949], Associate Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc.
[Edgar Cayce; Gertrude Cayce, Conductor; Gladys Davis, Steno. Abbie Kemp, Helen Ellington and Bob Williams.]
Time of Reading 3:35 to 3:40 P. M. Eastern Standard Time. New York City. (Physical Suggestion)
-
EC: Yes, we have the body here, [949]; this we have had before.
-
Conditions are not so well in the present. These conditions in the present, as we find - as the nervous condition, the breaking out, the condition in the arms and over portions of the body, are as much psychological as pathological.
-
This is not intimating that there is a weakness or an inclination of a weakness in the mental self. Rather is it that the high nerve tension and the abilities of the body to psychically take ON conditions are supersensitive and active in this body in the present.
-
Then, as we find, correct physically the diet; from all those things that increase the condition by a superacidity or from those that create alcoholic reactions by their combinations - eliminating these.
-
And let the manipulations osteopathically be given with POSITIVE suggestions as to what is to be accomplished as there is the releasing of the segments along the cerebrospinal system; as to what this affects and HOW the releasing of these areas about the upper dorsal and the lower portions of the cervicals will and do affect the circulation through the arms and hands.
-
Thus we will find quite a change coming to the body.
-
Use any lotion that is helpful or beneficial to the arms, in a rub. As we find, a compound prepared with equal portions of Olive Oil and Tincture of Myrrh, and a third of the quantity of Balsam of Tolu in solution, would be well to be used as a rub for the arms and hands.
-
Do this and we will bring the better conditions for this body.
-
Ready for questions.
-
We are through with this Reading.

Reports
Reports & Follow-up
R1. 12/27/37 Letter to EC: “I have been pretty uncomfortable with my hands, but it’s clearing up now fairly well. The same day I wired you I had x-rays taken, which showed nothing. The reading still baffles me a little and I don’t know what to do about it. I have cut out the starches and the sweets, of which I haven’t consumed much in the past few months, but it is the psychological and pathological passages which have me somewhat confused, but I imagine I’ll be all right in a few more days.”
R2. 2/21/38 Wire: “Have not had complete use of arm since Dec. Would like another rdg. as soon as possible.” [EC wired appointment date.]
R3. 2/22/38 “I have been pretty uncomfortable with my arm, arms in fact. The last rdg. seemed to say that it would disappear in time and described not the stiffness in my wrist which was bothering me at the time, but the pains that started about a week later and have been bothering me off and on ever since. It prescribed cutting starches from the diet and the osteopathic adjustments both of which I have followed, and also the oil rubs with the tincture of myrrh which I had been having up to a few weeks ago. It is not a very serious pain, I mean it is no more than a discomfort - nothing unbearable, but it is naturally causing me some anxiety in respect to my practicing [piano] which I feel now is very important. I am anxious to see what it says now.”
