This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at his home on Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 24th day of February, 1938, in accordance with request made by the self - Mr. [949], Associate Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc., this Reading Sponsored, however, on Active Membership of his father, Mr. [437], in the Association.
[Edgar Cayce; Gertrude Cayce, Conductor; Gladys Davis, Steno.]
Time of Reading 3:55 to 4:10 P. M. Eastern Standard Time. New York City. (Physical Suggestion)
-
EC: Yes, we have the body, [949]; this we have had before.
-
Now as we find, there are still those disturbing conditions as we have indicated between the reflexes - or the sympathetic nerve forces and the reaction to the locomotion as related to the brachial center or plexus - or to the arms and hands.
-
While these have been aided somewhat, as we find these can and may be materially aided and the condition eradicated if there will be the following of THOSE SUGGESTIVE FORCES AS WE HAVE INDICATED!
-
Hence, as we find in the present, we would give that there be changes as to the administration of the manipulations. Not that this is belittling that which has been done, but rather that there may be the full carrying out of not only the necessary forces now as we find to prevent there becoming adhesions in the areas of the soft tissue about the ganglia from which these portions obtain their impulses for activity (by the use of the electrical forces) but that there may be those adjustments just sufficiently along the areas and with the SUGGESTIVE THERAPEUTICS AS THEY ARE BEING MADE!
-
And we would suggest that these be carried by the administrations from Dr. Mary Miller.
-
We would also give that there be the electrical treatments BEFORE the adjustments; that is, every other day, just BEFORE the adjustments and suggestions are given, we would for twenty to thirty minutes (NOT longer, though ordinarily it is understood that such electrical forces are of longer duration) use the deep therapy or the HEAT - but NOT strong; that is, not to the highest tension, see? and not over twenty to thirty minutes.
-
Then afterwards, every other day, you see, we would have the adjustments in the upper dorsal and through the cervical, as well as the adjustments in the LUMBAR axis AND the coccyx area.
-
And AS such adjustments are being made, the doctor would MAKE THOSE SUGGESTIONS to the body that is being treated, you see, AS TO WHAT IS BEING RELEASED AND THAT WHICH IS TO BE ACCOMPLISHED BY SUCH RELEASE IN THE SYSTEM!
-
As we find, then, we would in the present leave off the rubs; and keep the adjustments - that is, through this new connection or association - and the electrotherapy or the treatments with the deep therapy - this the HEAT as in same, see?
-
Let these be kept then for TWO WEEKS!
-
And then we will give further instructions as to whether or not these are accomplishing what they should in these directions.
-
And then we will find that these should bring about better conditions throughout for this body.
-
Ready for questions.
-
(Q) What about the diet? (A) Keep this along in the line that has been indicated; that is, not too much of starches or sweets - but a well-balanced diet.
Do these then for two weeks, then ask the questions from the physician as well as from self.
- We are through for the present.

Reports
Reports & Follow-up
R1. 2/25/38 EC’s letter: “Let us know how you come along, [949], with the new suggestions. Was most peculiar, the same day as your rdg., had rdg. [1544-1] for an English girl who according to rdg. has the same trouble as you, and it was about the 3rd time ever had such condition described (in wrists and arms, etc. [neuritis]).”
R2. 4/2/38 Letter from [949] to EC: “You have not heard from me since my last rdg., so I’d better tell you what happened. The rdg. hit my trouble on the nose, again, but by the time I got it, I was feeling so much better that I didn’t go down to see Dr. Mary Miller as suggested. I got along fine for about a month, when last week it got me again in the wrist, so we went down to see Dr. Mary Miller. She is quite a woman - said she has had quite a number of experiences with you and also several rdgs., and she went to work on me. I don’t feel much better as a consequence of the one treatment, but somehow I feel confident. At any rate, the rdg. said that I should take these treatments for two weeks. Then I would like another reading. That’s two weeks from Friday, April 1, I not only want to reserve time, but thought you might be interested in my impression of Dr. Miller.
“She told me that Hugh Lynn had returned to Virginia Beach. I got a letter from him and was planning to run down and see him while he was here. These last two weeks I have been busy, tho, and was planning to see him later - forgetting entirely that he might be going back to the beach.
“Dad wrote you about his last rdg. [437-8] and I saw your answer. He has been going to Dr. Dobbins and hasn’t been complaining since.”
R3. 4/13/38 [949]‘s letter to EC: “The time for my rdg. Friday, 3:30 - 4:30 is Okay.
“I have been going to Dr. Miller, and I am feeling fine. After about three treatments I regained the use of my wrist, and I have been playing piano again since Monday. She says that the condition is not completely cleared, but that it’s just a matter of time. So you see that I feel pretty good. I would like to ask the following questions:
“Would it be possible to get a more comfortable and more corrective shoe than I have been wearing?
“If so, where, or thru whom can this be done?
“We had breakfast, Sunday with Hugh Lynn, here at the house. He and my father had a long talk about that rdg. which he said was very interesting. And this Friday nite he said that he is gathering a few people to discuss the Life Readings, and my sister and I are planning to go.
“I hope that everything is fine, and am anxiously waiting to see this next rdg.”
