This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at his office, 115 West 35th Street, Virginia Beach, Va., this 9th day of August, 1927, in accordance with request made by Mr. [953] and Mr. [270].

Time of Reading 12:20 P. M. Eastern Standard Time. Chicago, Ill.

1. GC: You will have before you the bodies and enquiring minds of Mr. [270] and Mr. [953], of …, Chicago, Ill., and the information as given for these bodies on July 21, 1927, and at that time you mentioned the unusual conditions respecting this country and the shortage of food crops. You will now tell us more about these conditions as referred to, giving specific data where possible and state what grains will have a short crop this year, manifestation of which will be apparent by harvest time and before replanting season. You will answer the questions which I will ask you.

2. EC: We have the information as given respecting conditions relative to the shortage of grain in this country. This, as we see, is especially those two in which there will be seen the shortage - though there will be the various reports that would indicate such was not the condition - they will vary from time to time. Wheat and oats, BOTH, will show by the actual conditions - being a shortage of several million bushels in this country, as well as in the other various wheat producing areas - Russia and Argentine, specifically, and a portion of the western country in this country, and an abundance in the Canadian, with destruction to a greater portion of the crop at and near harvest time in various sections.

3. These will have their effect, then, upon the commodities as they are seen in the various stages of the production as necessary for maintenance of that of the surplus supply for the use in the various districts and countries.

(Q) Should the 15 acre tract in Block 19, Section 68, Crockett County, Texas, be acquired now at the present price or would it be better to wait developments on the east side of the Pecos River before acquiring additional holdings? [See 953-27, Par. 8-A on 7/21/27] [See 270-16, Par. 6-A on 4/5/28.] (A) Wait for development.

6. (Q) What will cause this shortage in grain crops? (A) Various destructive agencies, and the various conditions locally existing in these various wheat and oat producing areas - weather and the various contingencies as arise from the harvest of same. Short crops, fly, and other various conditions.
