This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at his office, 115 West 35th Street, Virginia Beach, Va., this 5th day of April, 1928, in accordance with request made by self - Mr. [270].

1. GC: You will have before you the body and the enquiring mind of [270], of Room …, … St., Chicago, Ill., and you will answer the questions that I will ask you regarding the physical, the mental, and financial endeavors of this body.

2. EC: We have the body, the enquiring mind, [270] - this we have had before. Also those associations and information as has been given concerning the various endeavors of the mental and financial forces of the individual. Ready for questions.

3. (Q) In a reading [270-9] made for him on July 21, 1927, you said the physical condition of the body showed improvement, and suggested that in addition to the mineral treated water he should use the Radio-Active Appliance. Do such conditions exist that it would be well to use this, or are there some other ingredients that may be used at this time. (A) The conditions as exist relative to the amount of iodine necessary for the body to add in its vibrations that which will overcome the effects of those conditions existent in the body (portions existent at present), those as would be received through the Radio-Active Appliance carrying the element of iodine for assimilation in system will receive the greater effect from same through this than assimilation through any other, as we find at present. Through those properties of thyroid administered as medicinal properties for the body would be beneficial, these would induce, as we find, too great a proportion of fatty tissue for the body to find proper improvement for condition existent in thyroid region, though these may be administered for beneficial effects for the body, see? and that of the Radio-Active Appliance with the anode that will carry the iodine to the system - THIS will bring the better conditions. We would say, then, use that.

4. (Q) In reading made on Dec. 20, 1927, [270-11] concerning oil well now being drilled in an 80 acre lease in Crockett County, Texas, by Mr. Wyrick and his associates, will you give us the status of this operation and what may be expected from same? (A) As has been given, these operations still prove, and are proving, successful - and the handling of same is the way through which all that are connected with same may, or can, expect returns in proportion to that invested. As seen, production near ready for the action of that as given to Wyrick for the handling of same. These will be successful, both as to production and as for sale. The manner and way is to sell both well and acreage for development by others, rather than attempting to store, or to become a producing company. This, as seen, should pay each one that invests, or has invested, one dollar twenty for each one, see? The lease, the oil, are under different contracts and different conditions. Each should be handled in the way that OTHERS may receive that of bonus or pay for the investment, and most will be obtained by the sale of both the well (a producing one) and the acreage as prospective. This will bring the greater returns, see?

5. (Q) What should be the outcome for each hundred dollars invested in the lease and well? (A) As given. [See 270-16, Par. R1, R3.]

6. (Q) What information can you give us regarding the general condition of the grain as related to that given by you on Aug. 9, 1927? [See 953-28.] (A) This, as seen, related to the varied conditions that would, and did, exist in various portions of the country respecting the manner and way of the crops, or of the visible supply. This will continue to decrease in the amount as is available, or as is seen, and there will continue through this present season the continual rise, until near September or October of present year, with many varying fluctuations, dependent upon conditions in various portions of the grain producing areas of the country; but, as has been given, and as seen, this is reaching more worldly wide proportions than has been in years past. While conditions in financial circles will tend to keep the lower price, yet the supply and demand will be such as to bring the general increase in same.

R1. 4/5/28 [270]‘s wire sent at 2:18 P.M.: “See rdg. 270-11 made on 12/20/27. Now past twelve hundred feet. Can you check operation Friday in connection with questions in my recent letter. Answer.”

R1.] for such attention as you can give them in the near future, and in doing so, if consistent let’s have some information on reason for past failures, and will this not be one too? Personally I dislike to bother you with such things but find myself each day relying more on the advice given in the readings. So I guess you will have to bear with me, at least until I reach that place set aside for me [as indicated in 270-15]. Then I will try and be of some real service to you and the noble work.”

R2. 4/6/28 EC’s letter: “We had taken the rdg. when your wire came, and as most of the information was given I didn’t think it was necessary to go over this again just at this time. Should the occasion arise that you would want information, of course we’ll be glad to do whatever we can. I should think from this, however, that this will work out alright, and I feel that it will.”

R3. 4/12/28 Mr. [270] wrote: “Mr. Wyrick is still away, but is expected back early next week. A report this morning from the West Texas project indicates that the well is down about 1400 ft. and they have encountered sulphur water. He also intimated a desire to shoot the well at about 1310 or where they encountered the oil strata. This feature will be decided upon his return. Peculiar as it may seem, I was rather concerned about this project after receiving your reading of April 5, which in discussing the investment return mentioned 1.20 for 1.00. Suppose you noticed this. It rather poured cold water on my aspirations. However, I hope that a sufficient amount will be salvaged from the project to at least offset the investment.”

R4. 4/23/28 He wrote: “I was very sorry to have advised that it would not be possible to attend the meeting, that much I think you know, since I had looked forward thereto as the opportunity to meet those interested in the East and to renew the mutual acquaintance with the others, but what’s not to be is not to be. That seems to be a good deal like Mr. Wyrick’s SUCCESS in his oil activities. I presume you know ere this, that the Crockett Co. Well was a failure, went down 1400 ft. and struck Surplur Water - later it was decided to go back to 1310 ft. and shoot it but the production was not sufficient to justify so they called it another failure. Some time when I have an opportunity I am going to inquire through some questions more about this project. In the mean time if you care to look back over readings [270-11] of Dec. 20-27 that you may understand what I had in mind. In any case when I received reading [270-16] giving the approximate return it was obvious that instead of a well the return would come from the resale of the lease and a non-producing well. See if that is not the way it appears to you. Words can’t express how this struck me when received since it was planned if this had materialized to provide the necessary backing to start building at the Beach. Now I am worse off than before and the plans made are simply shot to pieces. Anyway I wish you would write me after the meeting and give me the high-spots, and maybe some day I will get within the territory of the first appearance [Baltimore, Md., as given in Life Rdg.

270-15] and if I do I’ll run down and see you.”

R5. 7/26/28 M. B. Wyrick in Chicago wrote [270]: “We expect to commence drilling soon for oil in North central Indiana. We have secured the leases on a formation that we believe will show production at a very reasonable depth, probably 1200 to 1500 feet. We are gauging the depth by reports of the State geology on wells that have been drilled in the North part of the State where production has been had at 950 to 1500 feet.

“Our past efforts in seeking the golden fluid have brought only disappointment. Because of this fact, we feel that you may not be inclined to contribute again to the expense of drilling a well. We do not recognize defeat and should you feel luckly and care to cast your lot with us on another venture, send in your check for 50 or 100 by September 20th and we will start the drill going again.

“If we got production, you win in proportion that your subscription is to the total expense for drilling the hole. No money used for any purpose except drilling and casing.

“A few of us who were interested in past operations, expect to finance and drill the well but would like for as many of our associates as may desire, who have been with us on the other projects, to participate for if we win we want you to share.

“Please let me know soon if you care to join and for how much, so that we may adjust our finances accordingly.

R6. 8/1/28 Mr. [270] wrote:

Dear Cayce,

“This is the next one? Am going to see you in Sept. Been very busy and expect you have too. Will write shortly. Kind regards,” [270]

R7. 11/24/28 Memorandum to Mr. [270]: “We will commence drilling our well in Indiana when we close a contract with the driller, which I hope to do in the next week or ten days.

“The location is in Starke County, five miles south of Knox and the first well will be located on 160 acres, the production of the first well and the lease on the 160 acres to be pro-rated to the shareholders upon the basis of the interest taken. We estimate it will take $8000.00 to drill the hole.

“If you would like to have an interest of $100.00, please send me your check. When I contract with the driller, I must deposit in a local bank the amount of the drilling contract.”

R8. 11/28/28 Mr. [270]‘s letter referring to 11/24/28 Memo. from Mr. Wyrick: “What would you do if you were in my place? That may seem a rather pointed question to ask you but, knowing my circumstances and connections, it behooves me to seek your advice, surely if for no other reason than because I have contributed about $1000.00 in the past few yrs. to the other wells [[4905] series, etc.], and as you know got nothing back. Again I don’t want to pass this one if the prospects seem to indicate a successful operation. Were it possible I would indeed like to discuss another angle of this undertaking with you personally. Perhaps some day we can. Anyway, suffice it to say, I trust, that I cannot comprehend why past undertakings were failures - in view of the readings

• and for that reason am inclined to think there is something wrong in the make-up of those backing the enterprise. Have you thought of it along that line? Suppose you schedule this and my other letter [11/26/28 ltr. see under 270-18, Par.

R9. 12/5/28 EC’s letter: “I’m not situated so I can get this information for you for some time, but will take it up at the very fist opportunity; though I know, from the memorandum, it would be rather late for you. I don’t know how to tell you anything about this offhand, but if you think in the course of the next two or three weeks will be plenty of time, alright. If not, drop me a wire and I’ll try to get it in sooner.”

R11. 3/9/29 Mr. [270] wrote: “Understand indirectly that Mr. Wyrick has started his oil well down in Indiana. Sure hope for his sake that it comes through, even though I am not in on this one.”
