This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at his office, 115 West 35th Street, Virginia Beach, Va., this 14th day of January, 1929, in accordance with request made by self - Mr. [270].

1. GC: You will have before you the body and the enquiring mind of [270], …, Chicago, Ill., and the conditions and associations of this body, and you will answer the questions I will ask you regarding same.

2. EC: We have the body, the enquiring mind, [270], and those associations and conditions as surround the body. These we have had before, and much has been given the body concerning those same conditions - of which the body seeks information at present. If those conditions and the information concerning the conditions as have been and as are taking place were considered and studied, the BODY would not be worried concerning same at the present time. The changes as have come about have been noted for the body, that they would take place, and that they would prove more satisfactory to many interested, and would NOT be in the way of a hindrance to the body’s applying SELF and self’s abilities for the interest of the company or of SELF.

3. As to there being other changes, these necessarily will arise, and - as has been outlined - if the body were to accept offers for the changes of self to the eastern offices, as may come through the very channels as have been set in motion - of which the body has been given information then that would necessitate the following up of many changes JUST in this direction.

4. If the body [270] will apply self as diligently in seeking out what the body [270] may accomplish through that which is being done, as much as in finding fault with some of those who are higher and much lower in positions as concerning same, much better would be the outcome for this body in its association with the information [source] it is attempting to attain information through, and with the associates, and for self’s own best development. WE ARE THROUGH!

R1. 1/20/29 He wrote: “The rdg. served to confirm previous thoughts so predominant in my mind at present. Peculiar as it may seem the ultimate location seems to be D.C., even though I have had no direct information up to present time. Quite recently a very good friend was in N.Y. and in a general discussion mention was made of the noticeable lack of real material for large city managership. With this my friend said he knew of a man that ought to be in the commercial dept. A record was made of my name, and D.C. was mentioned as the place then in mind as needing such a man. That was one of the reasons why I wanted to know if that move would materialize. The rdg. of last June [270-17, Par. 4-A] said I would locate in that vicinity. Personally I know it would mean greater success than here, but my difficulty now is to push it diligently as the rdg. suggested, for the reason that I am not in a position to do so, except through a friend and in talking it over at home. Mrs. [4794] says it will come, meaning to bide time for the present. In fact, I see nothing else to do, except to try and have the friend make some sort of a suggestion that might bring the matter nearer a head. I will, however, wait until you have had an opportunity to reflect and then if in your judgement I should make a move (write N.Y.), please tell me so. I assume you will recall the general outline of what was said in the readings. Aside from that I am sure with a closer location, closer cooperation, would result on other matters, and at the same time afford an opportunity to discuss these things in greater detail. That is one phase I have always missed and surely felt the need of. I am indeed grateful for your action in putting my request in line for such early attention. You don’t know how much I appreciated it.”

R3. 3/9/29 He had written: “I should like to know something about the attached [below] Press remarks - clipped today from the Chicago Journal.”

“Prospects Dim for W.U. - Radio Merger

New York, March 8. - Prospects of a merger in the immediate future between the Western Union Telegraph company and the Radio Corporation of America have been diminished, according to intimations today in authoritative financial circles here. Negotiations along these lines, which had been in progress, were terminated two weeks ago, it was learned, and are being held in abeyance pending the return to this country of Newcomb Carlton, president of the Western Union. Whether the discussions will continue, it is understood, will be a matter for decision by the Western Union.”

B2. 1/10/29 He wrote: “For some time things here at the office have not been moving along in a way they should, primarily because of the lack of complete and comprehensive information needed to handle certain work satisfactorily. Some apprehension having been expressed by the Division Auditor, Mr. […], today Mr. [953] informed me of certain changes he wishes to make in the accounting section, transferring to me certain employees now assigned to other work. The assistance of these men while needed will not be entirely competent since their working knowledge of accounting is not fundamental. It will, however, have the effect at least of removing these men from work now done, to another dept. where their activities can be closely watched and at the same time eliminate that feeling of too close a relationship between the employee and his supervisor, to which there has been some objection offered. Personally I am very much concerned about the whole matter and have been ever since I wrote you on the subject early last year [See 270-15 Background]. Your reading then [270-15], while somewhat indefinite in the matter of my own personal advancement within the … Co.’s service, did assure me of a change in location. Now I would like to have you make another reading on this subject…

“Is not this organizational change just a forerunner of other changes? if so, what manner will they affect me? Naturally, I like to work and enjoy the fruits of my 23 yrs. service with the … Co. but conversely would not care to suffer demotion or embarrassment. Accordingly would it not be a wise move for me to seek employment elsewhere, where conditions would be more congenial and conducted on a businesslike basis? As a matter of preference would prefer to remain in Chicago but to gratify the wishes of my superiors will go wherever they wish to send me.

“Will the suggestions recently made to Vice-President […] provide the avenue for a change and the advancement so long sought? If so, when will this change materialize?”
