This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at his office, 115 West 35th Street, Virginia Beach, Va., this 12th day of March, 1929, in accordance with request made by self - Mr. [270].
[Edgar Cayce; Mrs. Cayce, Conductor; Gladys Davis, Steno. Mr. L. B. Cayce and Mrs. Thos. B. House.]
Time of Reading … Avenue, 10:45 A. M. Eastern Standard Time. Chicago, Ill.
-
GC: You will have before you the body and the enquiring mind of [270], …, Chicago, Ill., and you will answer the questions which I will ask you regarding this body’s relations in a mental, business and financial way.
-
EC: We have the body, the enquiring mind, [270], and those associations and relations respecting the mental, the physical, and the financial conditions of same. These we have had before. Some changes or developments are coming and have come to the body in various directions, and there needs be that the body carry out those suggestions as have been given the body concerning how the body should so fit self in mental attitude and in physical relations with various individuals and groups to bring for self the better understanding in the material and mental relations. Ready for questions.
-
(Q) Developments respecting conditions seem to show some improvement. Give information regarding future conduct. (A) There needs be only those precautions, conditions and relations as have been given the body as respecting same. In the specific changes as may be offered the body, these are to be used or applied in the life in the MANNER as has already been outlined for [270].
-
(Q) State fully the real cause of the chaos respecting my employment with the Western Union and my association with Mr. [953]. Is this condition the result of rivalry manifested by others who have influenced him and thereby seek personal gain with increased power to control the destiny of the accounting work in this Division of the Telegraph Co.? (A) This has been given in the variations and concerning this as is outlined here. There has been given that the body should attend to its own portion and affairs and keeping same in such an exemplary manner as that the rivalry or the slight remarks as may be directed to or toward the activities of the body will be only as that as it had not been spoken, in the light of the manner in which the affairs are attended to. Back talk or counter moves, or paying attention to slight or light remarks, merely magnify the condition - unless there be a real basis for trouble.
-
(Q) Previous readings have indicated offers would be made for transfer to the Eastern office and it was also suggested that I concentrate in that direction. While some discourse has taken place, yet by reason of the organization line-up it is practically impossible for me to do as much as I would like to in that respect. You will therefore state if I shall continue to depend entirely on friends, otherwise what is the best plan to follow, especially since they have suggested that I sit tight in present position and await developments? (A) These are just the conditions as have been pointed out to the body, and that that the more necessity of how and why the body should apply self in the directions as have been given. There are, as seen, many possibilities in the changes as may be offered, and with the increasing OF the varied elements of the combination the body may so apply and so affiliate self with same in a manner that this would advance not only the financial but the executive position of the body. While it is true there are current reports that such combinations are not even being considered at present, this more for the effect to be produced upon holdings for the various companies that would be associated in such a combine than of definite information as to what the outcome of this combine will be. It is known that there are those conditions as respecting governmental activities that would prevent the open culmination of such combines, yet these are being made in a clarified manner that this may be brought about later on. Then, unless there are many more changes, these combines may be expected. The body so fitting self, then, in a manner to meet the needs of the conditions as these arise, would be in the position of holding a much more advanced position than at present, with the combination of Radio, Tel & Tel, and Western Union.
-
(Q) Information has come to me that it might be to my advantage to file an application for employment - (A) This just that as has been given concerning this very condition!
-
(Q) Please give any advice regarding the Press remarks respecting Western Union and Radio merger. (A) This has just been GIVEN!
-
That is all the questions.
-
We are through for the present.
Reports
Reports & Follow-up
R1. 3/19/29 He wired asking EC’s judgement as to 270-20, Par. 5-A, 6-A; whether it was meant that he should be transferred to the Eastern office or should apply for employment with another firm. EC replied:
“MY UNDERSTANDING IS THAT YOU SHOULD MAKE APPLICATION THROUGH INDIVIDUALS WITH BOTH COMPANIES.”
R2. 3/21/29 Mr. [270] wrote: “Personally I dislike to be bothering you so frequently, but it seems so necessary since I am trying to get myself in the material and mental shape suggested - accordingly find your readings not only helpful but a real guide. As I want to continue along that line have decided to write you again for your interpretation of the last rdg., particularly 270-20, Par. 5-Q, 6-Q and the answers to each. 5-A relates entirely to present employer as I read it, at least it was so prepared with that thought in mind. But you will note both the Radio and (I presume the International T. & T.) are mentioned in the answer. That accounts for my wiring you about this recently, since I have been given an application by the latter company but have taken no action respecting it. On the other hand all my friends in N.Y. and here have urged me to sit tight and that is what I plan to do by requiring the ‘others’ to make and then justify any move on my behalf. Does such a plan seem to tie in with your understanding of the 3/12th rdg.? and in that connection note the rdg. of 1/14/29 [270-19] which also mentions CHANGES to the Eastern office. Perhaps these have more to do with the combined in its ultimate form than the present status. In any event I am doubtful of the action respecting the material aspect that I should undertake, or if it would be practicable to leave such a move to the N.Y. friends, to arrange. In them I have full confidence and believe fair and impartial treatment will be received. This, however, may be an entirely wrong idea of mine. In fact, I don’t like to impose and will, if you feel that the intention is to file the application, I will do so at once. Par. 6-A of the 3/12th rdg. [270-20] seems to refer more to getting the body in the proper shape, at least that’s the way it has occurred to me. So if you can spare the time to write me of your views on this matter it will surely be appreciated, and may I have this, say, by Wed. a.m.? Send to office Special and I will be on lookout for it. One reason for the haste is that the Vice-Pres. will be here on that date and who knows but what this mess will be cleared up on that day?”
R3. 3/26/29 EC’s letter: “Replying to yours of the 21st, I would especially like to talk over this rdg. with you - but it is very hard to do by mail. I’ll give you my interpretation as I see it, in the light of the information given here, and as has been given. I’m sure you are correct in your surmise as to a great deal depending upon your individual attitude towards individuals and conditions as to what the future developments along many of these lines are to be. My understanding, that there is to be eventually a combination between Western Union and International Tel. and Tel. While current reports were that this would not come about, and that there were in fact laws that presumably would prevent such a physical combine - yet there are conditions being put in motion that would enable those desiring to consummate this to accomplish it, and that your position with one of these companies is such that the relying on your friends for the possibility of advancement was all sufficient in PART - BUT that through these same friends there would possibly come the opportunity for you to make application for a change, or there would be a change made with this idea in view, that would enable you to be advanced - and these very friends might insist that you make application, or have it on file that, when such comes about, you would be able to take advantage of it.
“So, you can see why it has insisted on your sitting tight and that these changes would come about, and that these individuals would be able to assist you.
“Now I think this is in answer entirely to 270-20, Par. 5-A, 6-A, and I think I have NOT drawn on my imagination at all for this interpretation. I believe you will see these will work out just this way. Of course Western Union, Tel. & Tel., Radio are to be one and the same, EVENTUALLY - though they may continue to be known under different names.
“I hope this helps you out, and that it has given you the correct interpretation and that you will be able to get just what you want.”
