This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at his home on Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 19th day of September, 1935, in accordance with request made by the sister-in-law, Mrs. [313], Active Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc.

Time of Reading 11:00 to 11:15 A. M. Eastern Standard Time. …, Alabama. (Physical Suggestion)

1. EC: Yes. As we find, there are disturbing conditions. These have assumed, in times past, some alarming conditions. And the applications that have been made, for the preparation and precautions to prevent further inroads, have brought better conditions somewhat.

2. But there will be required or necessitated the operative forces to make conjunctive activities with that condition which has been produced in the body.

3. These are the conditions as we find:

4. As indicated, they are of the specific nature; and not in their beginning necessarily of the malignant nature, yet very deep-seated in the organs of gestation - and especially the inroads that have been made upon the uterus.

5. Then, the applications of those things as indicated, to make for infertility - and to make for the segregations of the activities of those destructive forces to the tissue, would require the operative forces; which, as we find, may become the more helpful to the general conditions of the body.

6. Such measures would incapacitate the body in some directions, to be sure. Yet with the proper precautions, as we find, within the next thirty to sixty days these should be carried on.

7. For the general conditions of the system (though we find these have been improved somewhat) there will be required patience and persistence on the part of the body, AFTER the operative forces; that there are not those activities of the nature as to make for a return of the conditions.

8. But with the manner and the type of application that has been made, with these conditions being carried on (provided there are no burns made, and very careful precautions should be taken as to this), we find that there should be no after effects.

9. So, we would proceed with the treatments that have been outlined; that have been indicated for the body by those under whose care the activities have been carried on.

10. Ready for questions.

11. (Q) Is it possible for her to get well without an operation? (A) As indicated, we find that under the existing conditions such measures should be carried on - and the treatments that have been indicated.

12. (Q) Will the operation be an absolute cure? (A) If the proper precautions are taken before and immediately following such an undertaking, we find that there should be a cure.

13. (Q) What date would be best for the operation? (A) As indicated, between the next thirty and sixty days.

14. (Q) Any other advice? (A) Just keep those precautions, being consistent throughout.

15. We are through for the present.

R1. 9/20/35 EC’s letter: “I wonder who is in charge at St. Vincent’s Hospital Birmingham, Ala.]? I merely mention this, because a few years ago I was very well acquainted with most of the physicians in charge of institutions in B’ham.”

R2. 2/11/36 Mr. [228] [Mrs. [313]‘s husband]‘s] letter: “[313] says that four doctors had advised against operating on [1004]. Dr. Lester is her doctor.”

R3. 12/9/36 Mrs. [313]‘s letter: “I have just returned from a visit to Birmingham and I am very much worried about [1004], my sister-in-law. I would like for you to give me another reading on her condition, as I do not have any faith in the way her doctors are treating her.

“Her doctors are: Dr. McQueen, Gloss Co. physician - Dr. Lester, Gloss Co. surgeon - Dr. Ferril, asst. to Dr. Lester - Dr. Meadows, X-ray and Radium specialists. I wonder if there would be a chance of getting one of your Norfolk doctors to write to Dr. Lester and recommend your treatments.

“I think it would be best to mail the reading to my brother’s office, as it may be unfavorable, then if he sees fit, he can give it to [her].

1. Would an operation at this time be advisable, or would it spread the disease?
2. Is the Radium being given correctly?
3. Should there be any more Radium given?
4. Should the X-rays be continued?
5. Is there danger of a hemorrhage?
6. Advise how to get doctors to cooperate with reading.
7. Would it be wise to change doctors - if so who & where to?
8. Could she be cured at the Astor Memorial Hospital in N.Y. City?
9. Does she still have a chance of being cured?

B1. 9/15/35 Sister-in-law [313]‘s letter: “I am writing in behalf of my brother’s wife [1004], although she is not aware of the fact. I have worried so much over her condition in the past few weeks, that I find that I just have to ask you about her. In August, her doctor had a laboratory test that decided that she had cancer of the uterus. Immediately they gave her a 24 hour radium treatment, then put her to bed for a month or so with x-ray treatments every other day in preparation for an operation the first of October to remove the uterus entirely. They say that will be an absolute cure, but I am afraid of it and believe you may have another treatment that will be better.

“My sister-in-law [1004] is a believer in your work, but so far I have not been able to get my brother interested. I thought it would be best to put the Physical Reading before them in a finished form rather than to ask them about it as there is so little time to spare. What you say may sound so much better than the operation that my brother may even show it to the doctor.

”…[1004] is in bed, but goes to the … for X-ray treatments each day… (1) besides those … listed in Physical Reading are the radium and X-ray treatments beneficial? (2) Could the Dr. be persuaded to cooperate with the reading? (3) Please ask any other questions (GC) that you think would help.”
