This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at his home on Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 20th day of May, 1939, in accordance with request made by the self through wife - Mrs. [959], Associate Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc.
[Edgar Cayce; Gertrude Cayce, Conductor; Gladys Davis, Steno.]
Time of Reading 3:55 to 4:05 P.M. Eastern Standard Time. …, W. Va. (Physical Suggestion)
-
GC: You will give the physical condition of this body at the present time, with suggestions for further corrective measures; answering the questions he has submitted, as I ask them:
-
EC: Yes, we have the body here. In some respects we find conditions are very good, and in others rather unsatisfactory, - as there is the inclination for a great deal of sluggishness through the eliminating channels.
-
This tends to make for the accumulations of poisons in the system, hence tending to make for an unbalancing in the equilibrium, or to raise the blood pressure.
-
As we find, if there will be given rather regularly the high colonics - not just enemas, but the high colonics, in a SYSTEMATIC manner, - with the osteopathic adjustments to relieve the tensions especially through the areas from the 9th dorsal upward, but occasionally making for a coordination with the lower portion, - we would keep down the blood pressure, we would keep away from the gases on the stomach, poor digestion, or sometimes a disturbance that arises with the headaches, especially of mornings, and the bad taste in the mouth, and an excess of perspiration at times which becomes disturbing to the body.
-
These should be done systematically.
-
Keep away from too much MEAT, especially in the warm weather; and no red meats, - that is, the inclinations for the raw or rare steak, or ham. No hog meat, no pork of any kind. These should be tabu for this body.
-
And if we will do these, we will find better conditions for this body.
-
Ready for questions.
-
(Q) What is condition of heart and kidneys? (A) As indicated, these effects arise from disturbances from the poor eliminations; and if there are those activities as suggested for better drainages to be set up osteopathically, as well as in the colonics to remove the toxic forces from the system, we will find much better conditions.
Stay more to vegetables and such, than meats.
-
(Q) What is the cause of coughing after meals, with no appearance of cold? (A) Poor digestion, slow elimination or evacuation or digestion through the stomach and duodenum.
-
(Q) Is body too fat? If so, how reduce? (A) Keep away from meats, and take grape juice before the meals and at bedtime, - about an ounce and a half of Welch’s Grape Juice with an ounce - or not quite so much - of plain water, taken just before the meals. This will tend to keep from so much rich foods. And beware of too much of pastries and the like.
Doing these, we will reduce, as well as making for a more normalcy in the activities of the body. For it will reduce the excess sugar. Though this is sugar in the grape juice, it is a different character and will produce a better reaction through the alimentary canal. Do not take this just once or twice a day, - take it three to four times a day, and EVERY DAY for a month! and then see the difference!
The colonics, - in the beginning take about three in the first two weeks, and then they may be a week or ten days apart.
The manipulations osteopathically, - take at least six, and these about two or three days apart.
- We are through with this Reading.

Reports & Follow-up
R1. 5/25/39 Wife’s letter: “Needless to say I started what part of the treatment that I can here. Everything but the osteopath - that I cannot get here in … but we are expecting to move back to … and then we can secure that tr. too. [1170] and I feel the reading was very accurate in everything but headaches. He does not have headache, but all other symptoms are present. Am sure he will improve.”
R2. 2/20/40 Wife wrote: “Mr. [1170] has been so well since following the suggestions in his last rdg.”
R3. 4/29/40 Wife’s reply to Questionnaire:

PLEASE ANSWER THE FOLLOWING QUESTIONS CAREFULLY
(1) In your opinion did the analysis of the Reading cover the condition? Yes.
(2) Give symptoms of condition described correctly? So far as we could tell all symptoms were described perfectly.
(3) What was the physician’s analysis of this condition? Unknown, as he gave one remedy for a while without results & then would change - without results until patient was almost too weak to walk, [since] 6/12/36.
(4) Have the suggestions given in the reading been followed exactly as outlined? To the LETTER except the osteopathic adjustments. [The osteopathic Dr. we had in town was in no way sympathetic and as Mr. Cayce once said unless there was sympathetic adjustments - better let alone.]
(5) For how long? Until patient was feeling normal.
(6) Describe the extent to which improvements have resulted? The patient felt like a new man.
(7) Comment. When run down, patient is given a round of treatments - as prescribed in May ‘39 reading.
