This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at his home on Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 18th day of December, 1936, in accordance with request made by the mother - Mrs. [1348], Associate Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc.

Time of Reading 4:25 to 4:40 P. M. Eastern Standard Time. …, Mass. (Physical Suggestion)

1. EC: Yes, we have the body and those surrounding conditions with the body. And many there be that might gain a lesson most worth while in their experience if they would, if they could, but see and know and experience the love that is beyond compare - as is shown in the lives, the care and the attention of those about this body.

2. These as we find may grow, may go into, a greater and greater awakening; to that knowledge and experience that all health, all life, is as a full consciousness of the individual entity and soul being aware of the presence of Divine forces and influences in its experience.

3. Not a great deal of change in the physical or material aspects of the conditions in the present, yet there is a quieting, a coordinant condition in the activities of the mental with the physical reactions through the very use of the Radio-Active influences in the body.

4. These precautions we would give, and these as a helpful influence:

5. Do not attach the Appliance until it has been in the water, or the ice, for at least ten to twenty minutes; and do not allow the ice or water to come closer than an inch and a half of the top of the Appliance. Keep all very clean, by rubbing off with a cloth (dry) and polishing the plates or anodes with emery paper each time before applied to the body.

6. We would find that it would be well to use the periods during which the Appliance is attached as periods of meditation and prayer.

7. As the physical forces are subjugated to the mental forces. For the Mind is the Builder, whether of that we term as the upper, the lower or the middle strata. And if these are in accord with that unison as created by this mechanical aid for attunement of a perfect circulation that radiates by the very vibratory forces of the body through this creating of the current that forms for coordination, such study as of the 30th chapter of Deuteronomy would be well. Especially those portions of same as to the admonition to each individual, that the divinity that is sought finds the greater expression and is in the own self that attunement may be had. And also those as may be found in the 14th, 15th, 16th and 17th chapters of St. John; how He - that is the Way - has given His promises.

8. And know that they are not just to those who were present, those words and that message given, but to each soul that seeks to know His Face. For He IS Life! He is Strength. And Healing is in His Presence! And no ill that may hinder can be in those hearts and minds that realize His Presence is near, even as is given there - that ye ask in that Name!

9. That there has been some confusion in the combinations of the oils that were intended to work with the vibrations as set up by those influences from the Radio-Active Appliance, is indicated by the disturbances created with the use of same and the irritations as arose.

10. These were not prepared properly. But for the present, and to bring about that as we find may make for the more PERFECT coordination under the existent conditions, let’s substitute - or let’s use in their stead these:

11. Use equal portions of Tincture of Myrrh and Pure Olive Oil. Heat the Oil to add the Myrrh. Keep this combination then as a massage over those portions of the cerebrospinal system, and all of the structural portions; that we may bring to all of the activities a stimulation of help as arises from the activity of the influences of these properties to the body.

12. Do these, and then as we find in no great distant date there may be the considering of the orthopedic surgeon making braces that there may be the greater activity for the body; eventually so much greater outlook upon all the conditions as will arise in the experience of the body.

13. We are through for the present.

R1. 12/27/36 Letter from [1215]‘s mother [1348]: ”…Your letter and the report have been received, and we were very happy to get it. It gives us new courage to go on, cheerfully and full of confidence that things will come out right for our dear boy. His own faith seems unshaken and he does not worry about his condition. All he ever says is ‘I know it will take a long time,’ but has no doubt whatever about his ultimate recovery, for he often speaks of when he will be driving a car again, and similar things. People marvel at him, not knowing the spiritual help he has received right along. We shall be careful to follow your instructions in regard to the appliance, and I shall have the new oil made.

“We have been somewhat in doubt about when to apply this oil, before or after the treatment from the appliance. In fact, we tried it both ways with the first oil. Would you please write me about this?

“With best wishes for the New Year…”

R2. 1/5/37 EC advised using the Appliance in afternoon or evening following his bath when he is prepared for rest, and the oil rub immediately following.

R3. 2/25/37 Mrs. [1348] requested first Life Reading for her other son, Mr. [1347].

R4. 3/30/37 She requested third Physical Reading for [1215].

R5. 4/5/37 Letter from [1215]‘s mother [1348]: ”…Replying to your letter of the 2nd in regard to [1215], would say the time is all right with us.

“With all the faith and hope we are capable of, [1215]‘s condition is such we cannot help but feel great anxiety at times. Medical science does not seem to have found the answer so far, and yet I strongly feel there is SOMETHING for the boy. [1215] himself says that at the rate things are going, he knows it will take several years before he is well, but he has never spoken of any doubt as to his ultimate full recovery.

“His general health is good, and he is able to go to the movies twice a week, play games with his friends, etc., nearly every evening in the week. He is not in pain at any time, but cannot use his legs, and has to be carried wherever he goes.

“Of course, what we are very anxious to know is - are we doing all we can to help him along. He has very faithfully had the treatments you prescribed for the last five to six months. He has always had a graduate nurse, so the routine of his life is well taken care of. He also has a set of exercises prescribed by a physio-therapist, who sees him once a week.

“We haven’t had our neurologist up from Boston since last summer, and I have been wondering if we should have him examine [1215] again. And I also wonder if some new X-Rays might show something that wasn’t seen in the first ones.

“There is quite a bit of improvement in his hands, and he can pick up small objects and hold a glass of milk between his palms.

“We shall be so grateful for any light you can give us…”

“P.S. [1215] will be sleeping at the time you mention.”
