This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at his home on Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 15th day of December, 1936, in accordance with request made by the sister - Mrs. [1337], new Associate Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc., recommended by Mrs. [601].

1. EC: (In undertone, “Funny trees in here.”)

2. Yes, we have the body, [1305].

3. Now as we find while conditions are very serious, there are those hopeful indications also, for at least sufficient recovery for an active service in carrying on much as the body has outlined for self. Some changes naturally will be made, for it is more than just material gains or more than just death to die.

4. The conditions as we find in the present arise from a long standing condition where pressures in the body to the blood stream have overtaxed the system, until the thinning of the walls has allowed a seepage that - with the pressure on same - has produced an incapacitation not only of the physical functionings in almost all of the activities as related to the sensory system and the locomotions but to the mental forces and mental reactions of same; though there are not injuries as yet to the central brain nervous system.

5. Poor assimilation naturally is a result, as well as other disturbances.

6. To relieve these pressures then, and to produce an absorbent without leakages recurring, and to strengthen the walls even of the artery and the vein circulation, is that to be accomplished.

7. Hence as we find, these would be the manners as we would find that would prove to be the more helpful:

8. First we would prepare Balsam of Sulphur. This is a combination of Sulphur and Linseed Oil boiled together, to be sure in an enamel container IN water - or else it may catch fire or explode. Make about a pound of each; one is by weight, the other by measure, and boil together. [See 1305-1, Par. R7.]

9. Have the osteopath to use this along the cerebrospinal system every other treatment that is given; not every one but every other one. Use this especially in the 1st and 2nd - well, throughout the whole of the cervical area and especially in the lumbar and the sacral areas. Massage what the body will absorb of this each time it is used. Set up drainages by the same stimulation.

10. Also use the enemas, not too high but saline solutions, to remove poisons from and through the alimentary canal; so that the pressures may be relieved and the assimilation and activity of the other portions of the system may make for better coordination.

11. Begin in at least three to six days with the use of the low electrical vibrations from the Wet Cell Appliance, carrying an alternation of solutions - one time the Atomidine and the next time the Spirits of Camphor. The vibrations from these solutions will not only aid in the activity of the circulatory system but stimulate and be a healing influence to the very walls of the intestines, the blood stream, the canals, the flow of blood itself; also make for glandular action, reducing the blood pressure, relieving the great strain upon the body.

12. Keep the body quiet. Make these applications each day, one day using the Atomidine, the next day the Spirits of Camphor. Remove the connections from the solution after each using, rubbing them off. Put the connections together for their use at least twenty minutes before they are to be applied to the body, so that the charge takes place in the solutions themselves, so that the vibrations in each thirty-minute treatment from the vibratory forces are carried into the system.

13. The first day the small plate would be attached first, to the 4th lumbar axis center; while the larger plate - through which the full commercial strength Atomidine passes - would be attached last, to the umbilicus and lacteal duct and gall duct center. This is to be kept very clean; close connections, though not too tight.

14. The next day the small plate would be attached first to the 3rd cervical plexus (vagus center - 3rd CERVICAL plexus), while the larger plate - through which the full strength Spirits of Camphor solution passes - would be attached last, over the same area as the day before; that is, the lacteal ducts, the umbilicus plexus, the gall duct area or the lower portion of same. This for thirty minutes also.

15. After EACH Appliance treatment, a massage is to be given over the areas with oils - the areas where the applications of the plates or anodes are made. The oils are to be equal portions of Olive Oil, Tincture of Myrrh and Compound Tincture of Benzoin. Heat the Oil to add the Myrrh; then the other ingredient. Shake the solution well before massaging.

16. To be sure, the body is to be kept quiet.

17. And the diet is to be that easily assimilated. Those foods that are body-nourishing and are well-balanced as to the blood-building and nerve energies. These have been very well outlined.

18. Do these and then in twenty to thirty days we would give further instructions.

19. But we will find improvements, if these are applied consistently, persistently; not with rote but with the feeling of the correct vibrations for this body that will bring the attunement with the Divine for a personal service of the entity in this material plane.

20. Ready for questions.

21. (Q) How often should the osteopathic manipulations be given? (A) At least every other day, and at times every day. But it’s every other treatment that the Balsam of Sulphur is to be used.

It’s EVERY day that one or the other of the solutions through the vibrations from the low electrical forces would be used.

EACH day there must be an elimination through the alimentary canal, whether it’s little or much. Do not irritate the body by too oft using same, but if the enemas are given properly they only aid and DO NOT weaken the body - as some would have others believe!

22. (Q) As the Balsam of Sulphur is dangerous to combine, can you tell where it may be prepared properly in Detroit? (A) With the laboratory there - plenty of them can combine it. It is a very old combination, but any chemist - with the name of chemist - can combine same.

23. (Q) What chance for body regaining speech? (A) He should soon regain the activities of all his system, mentally and physically. To be sure there will be some little halting in the limbs and the arms for some time, but these should be overcome - if these are followed.

Do not give too many heart stimulants unless these become absolutely necessary. But the osteopath here may accomplish a great deal more than internal medicine.

24. (Q) Any specific directions for the osteopath? (A) These are generally known, and those that we would apply to ANY case where there has been clot loosed by seepage in the whole of the blood system, by overpressure, overtaxation.

25. We are through for the present.

I know the doctor on the case and there will be very little cooperation from that end as he will not relish the idea of losing the fees he is collecting. He took care of [480] until we rec’d [480]‘s first reading. Then told me I was crazy and he hasn’t seen us since.”

Dear Mrs. [1337]:

The information as gotten for your brother was forwarded Air-Mail Special. Do hope it will prove of help. Am sure your anxiety at the present time is such, that as to how such may be gotten, is minor to what can be gained by the use of the suggestion given for help. And will only say this Mrs. [1337] the reports from thousands of people through the years have been where ever there is help offered, in the resting, and the person tries out, and does that suggested consistently, the help has come. I understand often people have trouble getting Dr.’s carry out the suggestions. And in each and every case there is something to be done it is not just faith but faith by works.

Know we are glad to try and be of help any way possible, we realize the information seems impossible, but it has worked with thousands through the years.

R6. 1/2/37 Mrs. [601]‘s ltr.: “It seems unfortunate that Mr. [1305]‘s wife and family could not appreciate the first rdg. Mrs. [1337] had a very good idea of the rdgs., and was most anxious for them to try the suggestions outlined, but when they consulted their physician about trying osteopathic trs. he became very indignant and said the patient would die of a heart attack if disturbed. He is slowly but surely sinking each day and can appreciate the last part of the last ck. rdg. They seem to be waking up to the fact that medical science has done very little for him since he took ill last summer and yet are lacking in courage to try something that may help to put him on his feet and help him to carry on for the purpose he has to fulfill. It is a great pity, as he is a fine man and had always been helpful to many when he was well.”

R7. BALSAM OF SULFUR: Balsam of sulfur is a combination of equal parts of linseed oil and sulfur. This liniment was recommended about 35 times in the readings, often for cases of paralysis, impaired locomotion resulting from arthritis, misplaced vertebrae, etc. Two different types of treatments were recommended. The most commonly suggested treatment was to massage about 1 handful of the Balsam over the cerebrospinal system. The other treatment was to massage the Balsam over the lymph gland areas, including armpits, neck, abdomen, and groin. The body absorbs the properties in the Balsam, whichever treatment is used, and, as with other massage lotions, only the amount which the body will absorb should be used. A few minutes after the massage the body should be washed off with a weak solution of baking soda, made in the proportions of 1 teaspoonful to 1 gallon of water. The readings suggested a Balsam massage 3-4 times per week or every other day, and often recommended it be given before or after a spinal adjustment.
