This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at his home on Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 9th day of December, 1937, in accordance with request made by the self - Mrs. [1496], new Associate Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc., recommended by Mrs. [1246]. 1. EC: We have the body here, [1496].

2. Now as we find, while the general conditions in the physical forces of the body are very good, these in some manners need a greater stimulation to care FOR those changes that may be wrought in assisting the body to replenish or rebuild SPECIFIC conditions that are disturbing the body.

3. And these, unless there ARE changes wrought, must make this experience rather a dark one from the physical standpoint.

4. As we find, while there is lack of proper nutriment or building supplies in the physical body going to the optic nerves themselves, this is not a condition of glaucoma nor of atrophy of the nerve itself, but is rather from lack of supply of energy from those branches in the cerebrospinal system that produce the impulse for the flow of blood supply TO those centers to the optic nerves.

5. Hence, as we find, there may come material aid. However, this may require some little time, some persistence, and a great deal of patience - FROM the mental and the spiritual sources.

6. Yet physical applications, as combined with faith and hope and consistency, will bring a great deal of help; and more than a sixty percent increase in the visibility for the body than from that indicated in the present.

7. As we find, then, there must be a RELEASING of those pressures that are indicated in the upper dorsals and through the cervical centers. This as we find had best be applied in a chiropractic AND a neuropathic manner; and then the stimulation - not directly to the optics or eyeballs themselves - of the low electrical vibrations that will enable those ganglia so released to stimulate the circulation directly to those portions of the body.

8. In the application of the vibratory forces that stimulate the body, make the application of the one anode or plate to the centers released in the cervical area; and the other to the forehead ABOVE the eye, so that the stimulation would reach the center through the openings in that portion of the forehead - or just above the eyelid and below the brow, see?

9. These we would give for periods of three to four weeks, about three to four times a week; and then rest periods.

10. During all these periods it is well that a warm wash be used - not too strong a solution, but that would cleanse the eyes - such as that used for infants’ eyes; not silver, to be sure, but those properties that are cleansing and soothing; that the stimulation may then be aided to carry off the drosses produced.

11. We would suggest such treatments as may be administered by Dr. Mary Miller.

12. Ready for questions.

13. (Q) Can the entire treatments be given by Dr. Miller? (A) Hasn’t it just been given? These are given by Dr. Miller!

14. (Q) May eyesight be restored completely through these treatments? (A) As has been indicated.

15. (Q) Any spiritual advice? (A) As has been indicated, there is the need of patience, hope, persistence.

Let the meditation oft be, in sincerity; not as mere words, but as these:

“SO STIMULATE, O FATHER, EVERY EMOTION, EVERY ACTIVITY IN MY BODY, IN MY BEING, THAT THERE MAY BE ACCOMPLISHED IN ME THAT AS THOU HAST GIVEN AND DOST GIVE OF THY LOVE AND MERCY FOR THE MANIFESTING OF SAME IN ME.

“DO THIS, O LORD, IN THY GRACE, THY LOVE, THY MERCY. AND HELP ME TO SO LIVE, SO THINK, SO BE, THAT THIS MAY BE ACCOMPLISHED NOW.”

Dear Mr. Johnston:

Enclosed you will find a copy of a reading given for [1496].

She is a young woman who is losing her eyesight and has had to discontinue work. I discussed her case with a friend who knows her well before we offered to sponsor it for her. There is a real need.

Dr. Miller, who was suggested in the reading, has offices with Miss Campbell. If you get in touch with Miss Campbell about the Numerology you may have opportunity to check up on the case. Dr. Miller is a new contact and seems very interested in following through with us on cases.

My dear Mr. Cayce:

Please forgive the seeming negligence in acknowledging your letter and the wonderful reading, which I received about two weeks ago. But the delay was caused because I wanted to talk with Dr. Miller before writing to you.

First, I do want to thank you for your great kindness and help. It is impossible for me to tell you in words what it has meant to me - but I am sure you will understand. I am deeply grateful and I hope and trust that the opportunity will be given me to prove my gratitude.

I have seen and talked with Dr. Miller on Friday and treatments have begun, in accordance with your instructions. I know now that my vision will improve and, of course, I am again grateful to you for sending me to Dr. Miller, who has been most kind and generous.

I am now ashamed to tell you this, but I feel I must. It took me about ten days to get up enough courage to go to see Dr. Miller. And it wasn’t until I had talked with Mrs. [1246] that I found the strength to go.

So, you can see how much you have done for me. God bless you!

I shall, of course, write to you about the progress I am making, that is, if I may. I know the improvement will be great and I do want you to know about it.

I do hope you don’t mind the typewritten note - it is much easier for me, at the moment.

R4. 3/4/38 Dr. Mary A. Miller’s report via Miss Florence Evylinn Campbell: “Some very good news about Mrs. [1496] I am sure you will be pleased to hear. Just a few days ago she was able to locate her glasses with her completely unaided eyes. Improvement all along the line seems to be very satisfactory.”

R5. 4/10/38 [1496]‘s ltr. to EC:

My dear Mr. Cayce:

I have been receiving treatment, three times each week, from Dr. Mary A. Miller, to whom you sent in last December.

Because improvement has been very slow, Dr. Miller has suggested that it might be wise to ask you to recheck my physical reading, in the hope that you might be able to suggest to her a new treatment for more rapid improvement.

With this in mind I am writing to ask if you will be good enough to let me know what your charge would be to me for such a recheck.

I know that you are very busy but I would be deeply grateful to you for an early reply.

Please know that I deeply appreciate your kindness to me last November.

Examined at Manhattan Eye, Ear, Nose & Throat Hospital clinic, N.Y. & was told she is 6 times as far-sighted as any person they’ve ever seen; no use spending money on heavy glasses, gradually she won’t be able to see at all; right eye practically sightless now; nothing advised except strong glasses at present and then eventually total blindness - nothing to be done. Was working as private secretary, but of course had to quit on account of eyes. So in hopes there will be some chance for her thru the Rdg., just can’t feel that she will have to experience total blindness the rest of her life, there must be hope for her thru this channel - so grateful for opportunity of having Rdg.

B3. GD’s note: I remember that Mrs. [1496] had a distinctive offensive odor from her body; not just from underarm lack of freshness, but an odor that seemed to be coming from “all over” her, or rather from the “inside of her”.
