This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at his home on Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 8th day of April, 1938, in accordance with request made by the mother - […], Associate Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc. The regular $10 fee for a Check Physical Reading is being charged to the mother, but a copy of the Reading is being sent to Miss Mary C. Clendenin (who temporarily Sponsored the first Reading) so she may see the progress that has been made.

Time of Reading 3:35 to 3:50 P. M. Eastern Standard Time. …, Mich. (Physical Suggestion)

1. EC: Yes.

2. As we find, conditions are greatly improved.

3. While the lesions in the right side have in the greater part been broken up, these as we find will necessitate the occasional use - or periods, rather - of the Castor Oil Packs. Hence we would have these, in the beginning, two or three days a week - for a couple of hours. Then after three or four weeks, make them only two days a week. Then after two or three weeks make them once in a week, see?

4. Also we would have at least ten to fifteen gentle osteopathic adjustments; with particular attention to the lesions in the caecum area. These adjustments should be given about twice a week for two weeks, left off for a week, and then the rest of them given about once a week. But have sufficient to insure the breaking up of the lesions and adhesions in the area, as well as to insure the full coordination of all portions of the cerebrospinal system; or that all segments are in their proper relationship one to another. There should be particular attention through the lumbar, sacral and coccyx area.

5. Keep, then, the diets.

6. Gradually, leave off the capsules or James’ medicine. One time leave off one type, the next time leave off the other type. And as the body responds to the manipulations, and the activities of the body are more normal, these may be gradually left off entirely as we find - all of them.

7. With the first periods of leaving these off there will be the inclinations for a reversion to contractions and spasmodic reaction, owing to the very nature and character of the drug included in same.

8. Hence it will be found that this will require some little time, and the keeping up of the Packs even after the finishing of the adjustments; for the body to coordinate in all of its relationships in the nervous forces of the body.

9. These as we find offer the greater opportunities; WITH the mental attitudes, WITH the constructive forces ever of those about the body as well as the body itself.

10. In the development, as the changes come about, there should be - first - the greater activity of the body in associations with others, but not ALONE in the beginnings.

11. And by the latter portion of the year, the body SHOULD be able to return to school; but we would change rather to the vocational schools than to the REGULAR schools.

12. Ready for questions.

13. (Q) What physician would you suggest to give the osteopathic manipulations? (A) As indicated, there must be first the aligning of each segment in the cerebrospinal system, see? There must be, then, the coordinating of each area as it cooperates with the others; that is, as the upper dorsal coordinate with the digestive forces as WELL as with the reaction of the SENSORY forces. As indicated, the PARTICULAR attention - too - to the sacral and coccyx area, as well as the lumbar axis.

R1. 4/11/38 Letter to EC from [1527]‘s mother:

“I received the Reading this A.M.

“Thank you and bless you. It is a very wonderfully comprehensive Reading, and we appreciate it more than I can say. For it will carry us on so far now. And so, I feel, as in all things, the Father has us in HIS heart. It is all very wonderful.

“But for me, it is just all as it should be. It seems quite natural for the answer to be revealed just in the way it was, through ‘you’. I just see HIM and know HIM in ‘you’ and through ‘you’ even as in ALL. It alters everything so, doesn’t it?

“Heaven right here on earth. And of course, the Adam creations are so very very old, it is to be expected that great adjustments must be made everywhere through all planes of consciousness. The few who realize are like the pioneers of old, for they in turn, are pioneering for our NEW Earth.

“So we shall follow the Reading, in every little detail. Doing the Father’s will, as directed.

“And of course, it is LOVE alone, that is able to do all, through us, when we have given all that we call ‘ourselves’ up to it. YOU must have become lost in Love for ALL men too. But, it brings joy doesn’t it? An inner knowing that compensates for all lesser things? Oh yes!

“And so, with you and through your blessing us in the way you have, we will go right on, patiently waiting on God and the outmanifestation of HIM in all planes of consciousness, in [1527]. So that perfection may reach the physical body too, at last, and then as you say, the boy may do his part in the Kingdom, here and now.

“It has been a very very big overcoming, for all three of us. I can never tell you, but at last comes the DAWN. I surely am thankful to see these first faint glimmers, and shall do my part looking towards THE SON-SUN.

“Much love to you all, too. And thanks. I will be mailing in two days again re the financial part. D’you know that little sacrifice, I put forth was even a lesson to me and has had a part in all my lessons. So I bless even that. No telling what one can do until one has to, is there? Oh, it’s a great life, after all.

R2. 4/14/38 Letter to [1527]‘s mother from EC:

“Good to have yours of 11th - just hope and pray everything will be just as is HIS will, and am sure whatever is, is for the best for do we live and have our being in HIM then it is ours to say and be - Thy will O God be done in and through me.

Not that we merely sit still, but work with a might what our hands find to do, and as the Psalmist said, tho he slay me yet will I hold to HIM, for in Him there is strength and life.

“As the help comes for all of you, all praise to the Father in Jesus Christ, for it is the Father that worketh in me, and not of myself, to be a channel of blessings to someone each day, is my prayer.

“Hold fast to the faith in the Master - for His promises are sure, and they are thine will you but make them so - ‘if ye love me you will keep my commandments’ is to us. ‘The secret things are of God, but that He has revealed is for us and our children forever,’ and that revelation is in the Master, Jesus Christ.

“Thanks for everything, your letters are most helpful to me and appreciate them. All grace and mercy to you and your household.

“Love and good wishes to all, in Christ Jesus.”

R3. 4/21/38 Letter to EC from [1527]‘s mother:

“Thanks for your grand letter and I must also thank you for the paper on ‘Atlantis’. I agree with it most all, just some parts that have never before come to my own consciousness.

“I really have done intense studying, on my own - untold meditation, and a great deal has come to my inner consciousness. It makes a person very, very humble, before the greatness of GOD.

“This seeking all came about, because I wanted to learn the TRUTH. And I started out on account of [1527]‘s condition.

“I just had to find GOD!

“Now, in the realization, I know that ‘I AM That I AM,’ even as all men, in the ‘Reality’. In which same ‘Reality’, there is ONLY ALL PERFECTION. Then it is, that one can understand, that all less than our true Perfect SELF is the creation of the ADAM-man, surely not the FATHER.

“After which, one can understand that the Indwelling Christ, in each of us is even again, as JESUS, raising the ‘dead’ (in consciousness). That, in turn, being ‘The Comforter’ in each of us.

“I feel that we are brought to our ‘moment of awakening’, by diverse means. The moment being the birth of the ‘Christ-child’ in the human SOUL - the SOUL being the eternal immaculate ‘Mother-principle’.

“The ultimate, is LOVE-Perfection. I feel, that we are awakening one by one, and starting back on our journeys to the Father, Who IS ALL-LOVE.

“I do think, that THOUGHT is the great means, even as a light-switch given, for our guidance. It is everpresent, and radio-active and that must be why our Beloved Master said, ‘Forgive us our trespasses’ for it is pitifully easy to send out erring thoughts even to each other. And mercifully easy to remember that, also it is in our power to BLESS.

“I’m like a child stumbling around in a wonderful land, finding treasures. The FATHER’S wonders.

“So, I try to do the best I can. It is a big and full-time thing.

“Now, Mr. Cayce, regarding the last Reading. Which is very important to us, isn’t it? Now, the last Reading, the vibration was not a bit good here.

“You will know that I feel, very intensely now, won’t you? Well, dear Mr. Cayce, I do not see things, but I FEEL them, and KNOW them. And at times, there seem ‘Forces’ that are not nice and reflect THROUGH [1527]. The last day he seemed to be very bad tempered - ugly - and not easy to talk to, if you can see.

“When I said, let us get quiet, well, we had a time getting that way. Finally, when I closed my own eyes, it felt like a million forces tearing the air, almost. Over and over, I mentally placed it all, in the Father. Until, at last, there came a peace. Then, I felt your contact might have been made.

“But, I would like to know if you too felt the difficulty, the inner sense of turmoil.

“Finally, [1527] has slipped back, quite badly.

“Good Friday, 9:30 P.M. he passed out while reading the newspaper, just like a light going out. Had a hard attack. Again, last night, the same, around 7:30 P.M., while sitting talking - out like a flash. And, this A.M. - fell - like a tree while standing in the bathroom, around 8:30 A.M. Three attacks, in six days. Yet, none since Feb. 11th.

“I was not able to go downtown, to Dr. T. John R. Thompson]. But I have an osteopath who was perfectly willing to follow instructions, and not in the least odd about it all. He has followed, with my knowing, gently and [1527] HAS HAD FOUR adjustments now.

“Then, I went on with the three packs last week, as told. And decreased one by one the James’ tablets, etc.

“Now, we would like to say this. That a year ago December after taking osteopathic adjustments for several weeks, [1527] SEEMED to lose his mental balance altogether. He at that time took a brain attack, it seemed, and was uncontrollable - almost - ended his physical-plane existence. (It was a frightful experience to go through.)

“My husband is very worried this A.M. Has just called up, from work to see how the boy is and says, PLEASE ask Mr. Cayce if we can’t lay off the ‘osteopath’ etc. and DO ALL THE REST FAITHFULLY. He would rather it take a little longer, in time, than [1527] might lose his mind-balance as he did before. It WAS dreadful. The packs helped so much and we feel tho’ it might be longer, nevertheless it is perhaps SAFER to be longer.

“This son of ours is a SOUL - through whom we have come a long way - yet now, I do feel having learned the TRUTH - it is odd, the condition does not pass. Maybe it is all a test!

“Well, I still know that in GOD all are perfect. And that LOVE suffereth - oh, very, very long. So we can go slower, to help his physical body vehicle and not mind.

“So shall we just leave the adjustments for awhile.

“I am going to mail this air-mail, and enclose a stamped air-mail envelope to you as we are very anxious.

“Blessing the little enclosure to you. And blessing YOU too.”

R4. 4/22/38 EC’s ltr. to [1527]‘s mother:

Dear Mrs. […]

Just received yours of 21st - would by all means leave off the adjustments, at least until we have the opportunity to check on [1527] again - will have to notify you about that - and please this is from us - and not to be even considered from any financial way.

You will pardon me tho for going into a little detail as to our experience, about the suggestions for treatments - here are three experiences - 1st when we had the Hospital here, a boy about seven [[758]?] was brought here, he was having as many as 53 per day - not always that many but very near that

• he was at the time on Dr. James’ pills - after about three weeks these were reduced to about two each day then the adjustments were begun - and they ceased altogether - then another Dr. took charge he was also an Osteopath, but did not give the adjustments as the other man had and in less than two days the spells began again - reading taken - and the condition called to mind - the Dr. so incensed about a reading telling him how to treat, he left the Hospital, but the next person that came in did as the suggestion was given, and they ceased, and have not returned. Now this Dr. who left - is the Sec’y of the State Ass’n of Osteopaths, has an office in Norfolk - We had a case of same nature [561] - the Mother asked him would he treat as reading suggested this time - he did - and it is one of the most remarkable cases we have record of. Another these people have not met - they live in Ky.; the information outlined an adjustment, was undertaken - boy [1465] got worse just as you say has happened to [1527] they wired us - information suggested the corrections were not made aright
• got in touch with the Dr. insisted they do the adjustments as was suggested - there has not been a return of the attacks.

So do not know just what has happened - but by all means leave them off until we have opportunity to check on the adjustments made.

Thank you for your letter, will wire you Mrs. […], and just keep the hour as will be set - there certainly was not as good vibration after the last reading as the first - sincerely hope we may find every thing different next time Yes - we are perfect in the Christ consciousness - we must not judge - spiritual things by material standards - nor the other way round - and we meet ourselves in the consciousness where error was made.

R5. 4/25/38 Letter to EC from [1527]‘s mother:

“I received your kind letter this A.M. Thank you - oh so very much.

“I also wrote to Mrs. […] [mother of [561]] last week

• at last - and I had her answer this morning too. So, with her lovely words, and reassurance and yours too, the sun shines, just as much still.

“Not that I doubt the Source. Only the reaction seemed so terrible after the marvellous gain of the previous treatment. Then, there was the memory of the same kind of reaction with the other osteopathic treatments a year and half ago, and we felt it right to tell you. So, I can see, that evidently it has to be the RIGHT osteopath. Yet, because […] [husband] and myself are truly so honest, it never entered our heads to think anyone would say that they would follow the directions, and then go ahead and please themselves anyway!! Evidently, that is what happened, as it did with the one you mentioned. So, if it is right to go ahead, why when I hear from you on it, I surely will go right downtown to Dr. Thompson. It is the same charge for each treatment no matter where, so, I CAN make the extra effort to get downtown, really. Apparently, all doctors are not quite honest.

“Mrs. […] [561’s mother] said her son was just perfect now. That her girl [571] was now taking the packs. So, I will write her again. It was a grand letter.

“To have found Christ-Love does help so. Had I not found HIM, I cannot think how these years would have passed. I expect it was necessary for me to be tested - well, and so I can go on still knowing and believing Him and His words that, ‘we shall find’. The point is, that so many give up ‘seeking’. But I have always believed Him, so, I have kept right on - believing and going! I just had to find HIS answer through someone because I am sure, sure, that HE meant all that He said.

“So, don’t worry - everything is alright. I wanted to write and write you - ever since the other day. I was so anxious that you would not be sorry and feel badly. Don’t do that. I still see only the SON - shining.

“I went right along with the packs, anyhow last week and will do again the three this week. He is quite shaky, but has had only the three spells I mentioned. He has GREAT faith in the Father working through ‘you’ - So all is well.

R6. 5/2/38 Letter to EC from [1527]‘s mother:

“This is now Monday 9:30 A.M. here in … Your letter just came, so you see it was delayed one day on account of Sunday, I guess.

“So, I shall type this as quickly as possible and run up to the mail office and get this in air-mail special delivery and hope and hope it will reach you before Wednesday A.M. If not, then you will understand, won’t you?

“I asked Mr. […] about any special questions and he said, ‘well, you know […], I feel that when [1527]‘s body is readjusted then, the rest will come about naturally - that our primary question is to literally help him to have a good vehicle.’

“He further said he felt that he was the one who suggested a doctor near home, etc. We are very, very sorry about that.

“I have had a penitent few days, believe me, Mr. Cayce. “The Father revealed the answer since I wrote you. HE said, ’… it was like giving you a perfect chord of music which, if you had played as I had given it to you would have been a harmony, but you put in a wrong NOTE and again it gave you a discord. But you can listen to ME again now.’

“So, I will.

“[1527] has been free of spells again since treatments ceased. He had the three that one week and half - none since then. I DID give him the PACKS as told. So, I guess the lesions must be coming along now. I just leave that to His Father each day.

“I have wanted to write and write you, each day. I was so terribly sorry I had again strayed from HIM and tried to interpose my little human self.

“We will be with you on Wednesday.

“Blessing you IN HIM.”
