This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at his home on Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 4th day of May, 1939, in accordance with request made by the son-in-law, Mr. [1561], Associate Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc.

1. GC: You will give the physical condition of this body at the present time, with suggestions for further corrective measures; answering the questions which have been submitted, as I ask them:

2. EC: Yes.

3. As we find, the greater disturbances in the present are from poisons or toxic forces caused by the lack of proper eliminations from the system, and the almost non-activity of peristaltic forces through the system.

4. While it becomes necessary to use eliminants, it is well - and would be more efficient - if the high colonics rather than the mere enemas would be used occasionally. This would necessitate, to be sure, one equipped for as well as trained in such. But the removal of those influences and forces toward the caecum area, as the accumulations there in the ascending colon, is necessary if there would be the improvement in the directions of the nervousness, the irritation, the lack of appetite, the mental equilibrium and all.

5. Those suggestions as should be given by one making those measures which have been indicated should ever be constructive; not as dependent upon the activity of others, but rather the independent activity of the entity in the direction of following the SUGGESTIONS of others in constructive ways and manners.

6. In the application of the Gold, - as we find, we would use - in these particular conditions - the Radio-Active Appliance carrying to the body the Solution of Gold (in the proportions of one grain Chloride of Gold to each ounce of Distilled water). This will require, then, not the use of salt packs or any wetting of the plates, but making the application of the solution itself in the regular form or manner.

7. The attachments would be made as follows:

Always make the FIRST attachment to the extremities (that is, the smaller plate coming from the red or positive pole); one day to the right wrist, the next day to the left wrist, the next day to the left ankle, the next day to the right ankle, and then commencing over again - circulating the attachments in this manner; while the larger plate, through which the Gold Solution passes (that is, coming from the black or negative pole), would always be attached last, and always to the umbilical plexus - (This is because of the impulse from the body-vibrations) - or lacteal duct center, or - on the body - three fingers from the umbilical plexus towards the right side, see?

9. Do NOT use other solutions, but have the plate smooth - not so that it irritates - and attach directly to the bodily forces.

10. In this character of application, it will be necessary that the Appliance be thus attached for at least one hour, - not just twenty or thirty minutes but for at least one hour, to SET UP the vibratory forces of the body sufficient to become radio-active with the solution itself.

12. (Q) Are the colonic irrigations being properly administered? (A) As we have indicated, these need to be COLONICS occasionally - not always - and not merely enemas, see?

But use the various forms of the active forces for the removal of the fecal forces through the system. Of course, some body-weight as will carry through the system would be beneficial, - as the psyllium, even though it is necessary to use Castoria occasionally, or occasionally the senna derivatives, you see, or occasionally it may be necessary to use wholly the vegetable matter, - as the Inner Clean. Any or all of these may be necessary under varying conditions, dependent a great deal upon the mental reaction of the body, to be sure.

13. (Q) How often should the colonics be given? (A) Just sufficient to keep the body from suffering from toxic poisons, or reinfecting forces.

14. (Q) How long and how should the oil rubs be given? (A) These should be given AFTER the application of the vibratory forces of the Appliance. As to how long, - as long as the body absorbs the oils, - over those portions especially of the cerebrospinal system; especially, though, from the 9th dorsal downward, and occasionally over the limbs. The body needs to ABSORB those influences to stimulate superficial circulation, and this will aid in setting up a better coordination between the deeper and the superficial circulation, to be sure.

15. (Q) Should suggestions be made by both the doctor and those taking care of her? (A) As indicated, the SUGGESTIONS should be more by the physician, THAT THE BODY WILL TAKE the suggestions of those who wait upon the body! This becomes then a combination, - but the suggestions should be constructive, always.

16. (Q) Any specific suggestions you would advise to be given? (A) As just indicated in the beginning.

17. (Q) She often still has difficulty in swallowing. Can anything be done to help this? (A) If these rubs are kept up, and if the better eliminations are created, this condition should be materially aided.

Do that, as suggested.

R1. 5/7/39 Mr. [1561]‘s letter to HLC:

“May 4th reading for [1553] suggests changes in electric treatment. Also, 1 grain gold solution to 1 oz. water instead of 2 grains.

“Also revert to Radio Active Appliance! and 1st paragraph on page 2 [1553-13, Par. 8] of this last reading is puzzling to me - for - the ‘plates’ are the SAME SIZE - one copper, one nickle. Until now the copper has been used as negative and the nickel as positive and therefore carrying gold vibrations.

“Too, the little battery has NO markings whatever or distinctions of poles to designate positive or negative wire connections.

“So - can you order a new battery and have it sent collect, or tell me where I may get one in a hurry. (Sealing wax on top of one here in use is cracked & may make it partially or totally useless) - don’t know how to test this type! Also would like to get 2 new jars with lead tube & fixtures for solution - these are about ready to have served their purpose! All C.O.D. - How about it - hate to bother you but I remember the saying ‘If you want something accomplished, take it to a busy man.’ and maybe you can do this ordering over a phone? (Notice gold is on negative now - see reading

R2. 5/11/39 HLC’s letter to Mr. [1561]:

“I am sending you today two new solution jars.

“The following explanation regarding the radio-active will clear it up I think.

“I would suggest that you mark one of the poles on the Radio Active so that it will always be the first which is attached to the extremities. Now always use the other pole in connection with the gold solution. From the other appliance do you not have an attachment of a large plate - if so use it. If not use the small plate until I can have a larger one sent to you. The idea of these directions is that the same pole should always be used for the gold solution and the marking helps keep this straight.

“With this Radio Active it seems that the positive is always the one attached first. You see the current comes from the body flows through the appliance where it is built up and then back into the body after passing through the solution.

“Dad used the red and black marking system to describe this because in Radio Active appliances used for gold solutions this is the customary way to describe it. Remember you have a Radio Active that belongs to someone else not used for solutions and therefore has no markings on it. It is just as good however and not affected by cracks, unless it is loose. I see no reason for additional expense of a new appliance. Another one would be just the same with the posts red and black. Dab a bit of paint yourself and save the $18.50.

R3. 5/20/39 Letter from Dr. William D. Taylor to EC:

“It has been necessary for Mr. [1561] to drive me back and forth to Passaic to treat Mrs. [1553] due to the fact that I have no car at the moment. He finds however that business is becoming so pressing and urgent that he cannot give as much time now as before. Consequently he suggested that the treatments be cut down to two a week instead of three.

“The difficulty with this arrangement is in being able to space two days satisfactorily as one day must be Saturday to fit in with the week Mr. [1561] has planned, and of course, I am very busy at the office.

“I still feel that Mrs. [1553] needs quite some treatment and that three a week are the least due her, however it may be that now in her somewhat improved condition she can do with less.

“If you think it advisable the time can be cut down to once a week on Saturday but if she should have more treatment she is welcome to all of my time that she needs.

“What do you think about less than three treatments for Mrs. [1553] weekly? Please understand money is no factor in this case as I would gladly treat her free of all charge rather than she be denied what is best for her health.

“I will appreciate your advice concerning the number of treatments you think Mrs. [1553] should have as I wish to consider the welfare of our patient first above all else.”

R4. 5/22/39 EC’s letter to Dr. Taylor:

“Thank you for yours of the 20th - have studied over the information on Mrs. [1553] and seems to me while the three each week might be better would you make the two just a bit heavier, not to irritate - for of course anything that can help too much of same might do harm. But good stiff treatments two might be made to cover the situation until I see you, at least then we may be able to talk the matter over a bit.

R5. 5/23/39 Mr. [1561]‘s letter:

“Mrs. [1553] seems to, at times, gain in strength & have a clear mental coordination - less emotional - less crying - yes, MUCH less.

“Her inability to speak articulately, except a very few understandable words, of course makes it difficult to know her feelings & her thoughts - but generally - there is improvement - great improvement as compared to a year ago when the first readings were had - you see, she started back from very close to ‘zero.’”

R6. 5/30/34 “Last [1553]‘s reading. Directions for correction of constipation were not clear. This SEEMS the biggest problem now? Please ask for specific and detailed directions, as though instructing a dumb nurse! (When you can wedge in the questions.)”
