This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at his home on Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 19th day of January, 1939, in accordance with request made by the self - Mr. [1724], Associate Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc.

Time of Reading 4:10 P. M. Eastern Standard Time. New York City.

1. GC: You will give the physical condition of this body at the present time, with suggestions for further corrective measures; answering the questions he has submitted, as I ask them:

2. EC: Yes.

3. Now as we find, while the reactions that cause almost an extra flow of the blood, or hemorrhage, is apparently very discouraging to the body, this arises from too great a quantity of the electrical forces over certain portions of the impulse system.

4. We would leave these off, now, - that is, the hydrotherapy treatments.

5. But we would have the deeper OSTEOPATHIC adjustments with special reference to the 9th dorsal and those all the way through the cervical and upper dorsal; coordinating the lumbar and sacral axis and ileum plexus with same.

6. Be mindful that the diet is kept very close to those lines that have been indicated.

7. Ready for questions.

8. (Q) Who would be suggested now to give the osteopathic treatments? (Q) Such as Dobbins.

9. (Q) What are the developments since my last Reading? (A) As indicated. Some have not been so good. Hence the change that is indicated, with special reference to those areas. For there has been set up sufficient of the coordination between superficial and deep circulation. Now there needs to be a balance created, you see, between the sympathetic and cerebrospinal system, through the nerve impulses and through the ganglia along the cerebrospinal system.

Still be mindful of the diet, and when necessary use those properties that cause a better flow from the pylorus to the lower portion, or the better assimilation in the digestive forces.

Dear Mr. [1724]

Hope the suggestions at this time work wonders for you - at least the man suggested for you now is one of the finest men in N.Y. and am sure you will find him so. Will be anxious to know what he says when he goes over you.

Am anxious to see your Life reading - have often wondered where the reading will say you fit into the picture - they are very curious documents - but the funny thing is they do work.

Like last Monday’s programme - one of the best yet. Oh - am sure you are finding Mr. [1151] one of the finest men to work with that you ever met - Would like to see a copy of the Journal haven’t seen one as yet.

Let me hear how you come along with this change - please.

R2. 1/23/39 [1724]‘s letter to EC:

Dear Mr. Cayce:

Again your check reading was excellent. I had had a hemorrhage about two weeks ago - and apparently another one before that, in Dr. Reilly’s office, while on the table taking a too drastic electrical treatment. It is unfortunate that this had to happen because Dr. Reilly was grand to me - though perhaps careless in “giving me the works” in my condition. I almost collapsed in his office, got a numb feeling all over - and had to lie down for around an hour before I could even get up.

My doctor, a wonderful person, Dr. Wanderman, whom I want you to meet when next you come to New York, put me on a diet of largely milk. I am to take a series of X-rays this coming week to see how much damage has been done. Dr. Wanderman said it is a wonder I didn’t develop peritonitis - and obviously I have to be most careful.

Your own readings have been amazingly accurate and to the point - above all frank - even censuring certain well- intentioned treatments given. They have also been most helpful.

I doubt if there is a young doctor more renowned in New York City than Dr. Seymour Wanderman, for his diagnostic ability. He has watched my physical condition all the time I was doing the Wilkins’ experiments. Hugh has a copy of the March Cosmo which contains the article on this work. Dr. Wanderman is most sympathetic in his interest in the psychic readings you are giving - and would like a test reading, if it could be arranged, on a patient of his, whose consent to such a possible reading he has gotten. I am going to speak to Hugh about this. Dr. Wanderman states, if this reading proves satisfactory, there are many cases he would be glad to arrange readings on - on the usual fee basis for membership in the Association. As a physician, he must assume the scientific attitude, and would appreciate this test reading being given.

It is my hope that you can enlist a few men of the calibre of Dr. Wanderman, in the strict medical field, to co-operate with you - as I feel it will greatly widen your scope of service.

I am awaiting with great interest the date on the “Life Reading”. I’m getting together soon with [257] on some other matters concerning you and your work. Please accept again my deep thanks for your great kindnesses to me. Mr. [1151] is a great soul and meeting one test after another in this transition period, in splendid fashion. R3. 1/26/39 EC’s letter to [1724]:

Dear Mr. [1724]

Thanks for yours of the 23rd - do hope you will soon be feeling yourself again, the reading may be correct but unless you can use same to help isn’t much good.

Will be glad to cooperate with Dr. Wanderman, seek to try and help wherever and whenever can, and wish to interest the profession if it is worth their being interested in same, and they can only know am sure by such tests as they may themselves make.

See Hugh Lynn and arrange this when he gets back - but he, H. L., is hard and fast in bed today. Never saw any one with a worse cold - had to try the works on him this morning, hope to have him on his feet again in day or so.

Making the period for your Life reading for the afternoon of the 9th - if there is the opportunity for you will be interesting for you to see what the impressions you get at the hour of that reading 3:30 to 4:30 E.S.T. the 9th of Feb.

Will be interesting to see where such information will tie you up with some of your associates at the present - that makes most interesting reading material. Is a very funny thing how it does it more often in a very consistent manner, even with the hundreds of such readings, one can easily see how people will react to one another. You may wish to ask some questions on such a reading - be well to talk that over with Hugh Lynn also; the data under separate cover may help you with an idea or so.

Hoping everything goes well with you - but would not put off seeing Dobbins.

R4. 2/3/39 [1724]‘s letter to EC:

Dear Mr. Cayce:

Thanks for your grand letter of the 26th. I’ve been so busy, this is my first opportunity for answering.

I’m feeling much better. Had a series of X-rays which confirmed report in your readings. Also confirmed your statement that hemorrhage was caused by too severe electrical treatment at Reilly’s. Reilly himself was so nice to me - it is too bad that his handling of cases is so reckless as it concerns actual condition of patients. Confidentially, I think his Dr. Waggoner (or however he spells his name) is a weak link. He gave me a very rough colonic which didn’t help matters any, either - and, under the electric treatment that followed, I collapsed on the table from pain and then an unexplainable feeling of exhaustion and numbness. What happened, I KNOW NOW, is that a severe hemorrhage took place. I never went back to Reilly’s again, despite Hugh’s urgings for me to continue treatment - he not knowing what I had gone through. Several weeks later, I had a second hemorrhage which I detected and reported to Dr. Wanderman, asking you for a check reading. Since then I have been on a diet and have had special care. The crime of this is - it SHOULDN’T HAVE HAPPENED. The ulcerated condition was present but, with proper treatment a hemorrhage could have been averted - ALSO as your readings indicated. Dr. Wanderman made this point: in readings such as you give on health, where most patients are in serious condition of one kind or another - it is imperative that THOROUGH physicians check up on cases and follow through with treatment to protect the patient and your readings. Reilly meant well but he could have killed me. Wanderman says it’s a wonder peritonitis did not develop. I am hopeful that Wanderman can be interested in co-operating with you on cases because he is a genius among physicians and as fine a man ethically as you will ever find in the profession. He is getting the consent of this patient for the reading and the data you require on your form - and I will then send it on to you. It may be that he will prefer the report sent direct to him in place of the patient.

I am glad you feel that our radio programs are improving. I know there have been features that Hugh would very much like to introduce - but some of them are impossible at present for want of commercial backing - others because of prejudice or feelings of policy on the part of WOR officials. All things considered, I think remarkable progress has been made.

I will keep the life reading appointment with you, February 9th, from 3:30 to 4:30 EST - and will try to see what impressions I get during this hour. I will be enormously interested and, of course, am profoundly appreciative of all you are doing for me - [1151] - is going through great tests these days - but it is grand we have found each other - my life work is becoming clearer every day. Thanks again for everything!

Thanks for yours of the 3rd - glad you are feeling better, too bad that such mistakes can be made, and even when doing what they feel no doubt best. Trust, however, you will come along with little or no trouble now. Have you been to see Dobbins? Better, if you haven’t.

Am looking forward with interest to your life reading. We wonder many times about such and are usually not prepared for what is given us.

My, how one wonders about such work as this. This morning received word from some one who heard of the work in Ceylon - and few weeks ago some one that was told by a medium in Paris, France to come see me. And who am I to be noised so abroad? Just hope can help here and there in HIS NAME.
