EC: We have the entity and those relations with the universe and universal forces, as are latent and exhibited in the present entity, [1734].
-
In entering, we find the entity astrologically coming under the influences of Jupiter, Mercury, Mars, and Uranus. In the changes as have come in the application of the will in the present experience, we find those influences as manifest in Mars and in Uranus are the RULING influences in the present experience; yet those manifestations of the entity in Jupiter AND in Mercury have their influence, yet in the DEVELOPMENTS FOR the entity, those relationships in the activities of those forces as seen in Uranian influence bear most on the entity’s development, the entity’s success in the MATERIAL world, and those in that of JUPITER being that as would have the influence in the development as for the MENTAL and SPIRITUAL plane.
-
As is seen in the Uranian influence, these become either VERY good or VERY bad. In the application as the entity has made IN the present experience, these have been so far toward that of good, and the influences as may come through those of occult influence are good, APPLIED in the proper manner; there being that differentiation made by self as to occult influence as PURELY occult, and that as is of the psychic forces as have to do with those of the MENTAL and the SPIRITUAL forces in an entity. Occult being rather those ALONE that may be used for divination or subjugation of others in their various elements of development; while the purely psychic AND occult will deal more WITH those of the mental and spiritual life. These of interest, especially, to the entity, and in the ability to designate and to draw the proper conclusion in the application OF the influences gained, will be for the development and for the ADVANCEMENT OF the entity, whether related to the earthly experience or material forces, or of mental body or of spiritual body.
-
In those influences as seen in the PERSONALITY as manifested by the entity:
-
Those interests as the entity has as regarding those of machinery, or of those that are of the mechanical nature that has to do with the PLEASURE and ALSO with the COMMERCIAL and BUSINESS side of individuals; THIS a condition as may well demonstrate TO the entity JUST what IS given AS respecting that of THE influence of occult forces in the life. The SPIRITUAL side accept, the spiritualistic side reject. The OCCULT forces study, just as in COMMERCIAL forces alone the entity would NOT succeed. In pleasure AND commercial forces the entity succeeds in the material plane. Just as the change is coming in the present period, and through the next ten to twenty years, the entity may succeed most FINANCIALLY IN the INVESTMENTS, that has to do with the aerial conditions, or those both of COMMERCIAL and of PLEASURE in motor crafts, as of air or as of radio. These are of the aerial influences, or of the air. As the entity’s influence has much in the relationships with same through that as has been applied in the life, taken in the manner as given may mean much in the DEVELOPMENT of the entity, or applied IMPROPERLY may mean much retarding for the entity. These are to be studied as the influences and interests in the experience of [1734], and considered in those relationships WITH the experience OF the entity in the various experiences through the earth’s plane.
-
As in the experience before this, we find in that land known as Grecian, and during that period when there was much discussion as respecting the mental development of man, and during that period known as Socrates’ age. The entity then one who PERSECUTED the body, the MENTAL forces OF those who thought or studied along those lines, and REJECTING that as was PRESENTED by Socrates as for thought, for study. In the name Astroidal. In the experiences, the entity lost AND gained, both in MENTAL and in MATERIAL things. Gained materially during that period the entity or body, as Astroidal, fought or sought to suppress those teachings. GAINED in the MENTAL and SPIRITUAL body, losing in MATERIAL things, when the entity began to study and teach and UNDERSTAND for self. Again we find that same influence in the entity’s experience as may be seen in the present, of being able MENTALLY to become conscious of that as is the proper interpretation of those forces as manifest to the entity in the various phase of mental and SPIRITUAL application; for with the CORRECT application mentally and SPIRITUALLY, material affairs take care of themselves. In the present experience we find those studies of the period are both interesting and antagonistic to the study or thought of the entity. At times it is easily passed over; at others, counsel in self through the reasoning of the peoples of the period, and especially of the disciples of that one persecuted by the entity.
-
In the one before this we find in that land known as the Persian. The entity then among those that were of the rule that gathered together much of this world’s goods in gold, precious stone, metals, of various and foreign lands; spices and herbs; and the entity the KEEPER of same for that ruler known during that period as Croesus, and the entity gained and lost through that experience. In the name Bestreld, and the NAME may STILL be found among those of that period when they will be uncovered in the land in the UPPER Chaldean country. In the experiences of that period, the entity gained in the ability to serve many in MANY ways; not only those of the peoples in that land but of those in the foreign lands. LOSING in storing or HOARDING, that caused the destruction of the PHYSICAL conditions by the hordes from the hill country to the South; and the entity gained even in the persecutions as were brought about by those who captured and destroyed much of the storehouse of the peoples and of those gathered by the entity in the period. In the present, we find all such are of interest to the entity, in a more or less PASSIVE manner, but that a manner in which these may BE made secure, as IS gathered, is of ESPECIAL interest to the entity, how they may be preserved or kept against ANY inroads, or ANY of outside influences. In the application of this period, the entity finds much in common as may be the experience in the present application of the entity’s experience in THIS life.
-
In the one before this we find in that land known as Egypt, and when there were the peoples coming in from the North. The entity then that one whom the peoples overran, and in the name Raai, and the entity was of those peoples who first brought to that land the study of the relationships of man to the Creative Energy, and attempted to ESTABLISH this relation with the peoples in the gathering and in the calling of same together, and neglected to countenance those that called on the entity for the defense against the hordes that came in from the North country, in the name of Arart [165], and the entity fought LITTLE with the peoples, subjecting self rather than making bloodshed for the peoples of the land, and through the application of self in the period - while condemned by others, condemned by own peoples for the time - the entity gained MOST in ALL its experiences through that period. Not in merely submission, but in that the PRINCIPLE as was given BY the entity DURING that period became the basis for the studies of the prince of Peace, and the establishing OF those schools as began in the land by those that overran the land. In the present the entity will find the call of the SPIRITUAL forces emanating most from THAT experience.
-
In the ABILITIES of the entity and that to which it may attain, and how:
-
As is seen, the study of the relationships as have been given BY the entity throughout its experiences in the earth’s plane, and as to their physical, mental, and SPIRITUAL application. In THESE the entity may excel, either in a SPIRITUAL insight, the MENTAL application, or the material things of life. Ready for questions.
-
(Q) Has the entity any religious tendencies? (A) Just as given, the deepest seated of MOST men! Religious in SELF! We are through.

R1. 4/8/30 EC’s ltr. to [1734]:
Mr. [1734] New York City
Dear Mr. [1734]:
I came home to find my father quite ill with pneumonia. We have had a pretty hard fight. You know a man of his age, and with so little vitality, it’s mighty tough. He seems to be some little better this morning. I hope he continues on the improve. It has taken every ounce of my strength and vitality, staying with him and doing the very best I could.
The main thing I wanted to write about though, Mr. [1734] - there came to me this morning one who owns a piece of property very close to our holdings. This property I would like to own myself, personally. I, of course, haven’t the wherewith at present. I would like to know if you would help me handle it. It will take $3,000 to own the property outright. This is on a paved street or roadway, which is very much better than most of the property in that vicinity. I have to give the man an answer sometime the latter part of this week. May I have a reply?
Thanking you - and hoping you will consider this purely as a business - not as just a favor to assist me, for I expect to repay the whole amount - and with kindest personal regards to you and yours, I am
Sincerely, [EC]
R2. 4/8/30 EC’s ltr. to [257]:
Dear [257]:
Replying to yours of the 3rd, regarding an appointment for Mr. [1734] - owing to circumstances and conditions at present, with the innumerable number of appointments that have been and are being delayed at the present time, I hardly see how it is possible to make an appointment for him any time in the very near future.
Regarding the conversation over the phone about Mrs. [1732], it will be an impractical thing - under the circumstances - to, in any way, do such as you suggest, owing to the feelings as exist in some quarters; and it’s an impractical thing anyway, [257] for us to be making appointments to go somewhere else when my business is here. If I am to have a vacation, it’s meant that I’m to go away from work - not just go somewhere else to work - I can’t help what they say, or how much money they’ve got. As soon as it is possible, I will write her. If circumstances are such that she has to go ahead with her operations, I’m sorry - but I can’t help it.
Certainly glad to know that your Mother is better and I hope the baby keeps going along fine.
Pa has been very, very, ill. It is almost a miracle that he has held out as well as he has. Seemingly, he is quite a bit easier this morning. If complications with the heart do not arise, I think perhaps he will get along alright. This we can tell only in a few days. As you can very well imagine, he hasn’t allowed me to be hardly out of his sight, and not out of the house for the last three or four days. He has constantly drawn on every particle of strength I have had, and I’ve been very ill myself - but I’ve had to keep going. We won’t be able to do anything for a few days yet. I know I’ve got to take hold of myself first.
Sorry to hear of Mrs. [189]‘s accident. Certainly hope that she gets along nicely. Hope [102] get along alright.
Thank you for your consideration and offer. I’m going to try to do the very level best I can for each and every applicant, but it’s an utter impossibility for me to fill or answer all of the requests that are now being made. I’ve got to get some rest myself first, if I’m going to be worth anything to anybody - and I’m afraid each and every member of the Board is going to have the realization they’ve been riding a free horse too hard.
With love to all,
EC:GD

Dear Judge:
Thank you very much for your letter of April 8th and I appreciate even more, knowing what you are now going through. I agree with you absolutely that regardless of what other conditions come to you, your health must be taken care of and that the Board of Directors or any one else have no right to “ride a free horse too hard”. It is only human nature, Judge, that we must all take care of our little fort which is our own bodies and see that every one else respects them.
I know just how your Father feels because all his life or since I have known him, he has worshiped the ground that you walk on and he has a good right to do so. I wish I could do something beside send flowers which I am doing today and I hope that the plant will give him a little happiness. During this week I hope to send another little package which will arrive in good condition but forget where it comes from and if any questions are asked, you know nothing about it.
(When Mr. [257] had finished dictating this part, his telephone call came thru, and he talked with you, so I will end his letter rather abruptly. We all hope that “Dad” is now out of danger and is recuperating rapidly. Tell him I am looking forward to seeing him this summer. I hope that you are feeling better, too, and that if there is anything we can do for any of you in New York, please don’t hesitate a minute to let us know.)
With kindest regards to you all.
Sincerely, [349] [[257]‘s secty.]

Dear Judge:
Attached hereto is copy of letter received from Mr. [1734]. He has suggested that we combine with him in our medicine proposition. In other words, that he join us in the manufacture of our products and his products and we finance it jointly. What do you think of this idea? [257]
4/8/30 [attached letter] New York, N.Y.
Dear Mr. [257]:
I am sending you under separate cover a sample of Atomidine and one of the first pamphlets that we had gotten up in regard to its uses.
I will be pleased to take up the matter in the future with you, whenever it is convenient.
Sincerely yours, [1734]

Dear Mr. Cayce:
I am very sorry to hear of your fathers illness & trust by now he is on the road to a speedy recovery.
Now as to your request for a loan of $3000. before I can decide I would like to have more information as for just what purpose you desire to buy same, - how large a plot it is, - where located, - & on what business basis do you wish to arrange the loan. After I receive this information I will be in better position to tell you what I’m willing to do.
With kindest regards to Mrs. Cayce & yourself from Mrs. [1732] & myself.
I am sincerely, [1734]
R6. 4/17/30 EC’s ltr. to [1734]:
Mr. [1734] New York City
My dear Mr. [1734]:
Replying to yours of the 11th, I am sure - from my very meagre description when I first wrote you - you must have felt that I was very little of a business man, though I was asking for something on a business basis - but I felt sure that it was a real opportunity that had been offered me that day, and acting on the spur of the moment, hoping to be able to handle it SOME way in time to gain possession of the property, I wrote you as I did.
Now, the plot is one just north of the property owned by the Association, and is at 107th Street, while the property owned by the Association is from 105th, across 106th and half of the block facing or adjoining that as has been offered. [12/18/63 GD’s note: Now 69th and 67th Streets respectively.] The price, as I said, is
3,000 for five lots of 150 feet by 50 feet, or a plot 150 by 250, which has been divided into the five lots and so laid out on the deed books. This is, of course, lots close to where the university will be built. As I said, it will be a considerable question of housing people that would be associated with the university. My idea was to gain possession of the land, if possible - for I've never owned any myself - for myself and my family, and as soon as I could make the arrangements to erect a house on one of the lots, or more of them if possible, and RENT same TO those that would either be coming to the hospital or be coming to the university, as the professors or someone wish ing to take advantage of the opportunities offered at the university, and in this hoped to be able, and would be willing, to pay so much each month, provided I could make this in such terms that it would enable me, WITH what I obtained from the rent of the place, to be paying for the house itself. I had thought that I would be able to erect a home that would be presentable, and rentable, to such parties, for about8,000 or9,000. This I could do in the building loan, if I OWNED the land - but if it is ENCUMBERED, of course I couldn't do that in the building loan - so the payment I would make back to you, say50 a month until it was paid - paying whatever interest reasonable - and with the rent on the house, it would enable me possibly to be able to OWN these lots AND the building in a few years. That’s my whole plan. What have you to suggest? I don’t think that it’s a wild idea, and possibly I SHOULD have gone to some of those that I’ve been associated with, but feeling and knowing that they are giving very heavily TO the work, I didn’t want to feel like I was burdening them more. I had thought, from what you had said, that you would possibly be interested - and IF you were, I was in hopes that you could see your way clear to assist me at this time.I want to thank you for your consideration. I appreciate your interest in my father. I’m glad to say that he is very much better.
Hoping I may hear from you very soon, before it is too late to handle this at this figure - for the announcement of the university has already caused property to be advanced in that vicinity - and with kindest personal regards to you and yours, I am
Sincerely, [EC] EC:GD

Dear [257]:
Many thanks for copy of letter from Mr. [1734]. I think it would be well for us to consider the matter with him. Possibly we can take this up at the next time we have a meeting of the Health Service laboratories. [See [165] series] Something must be done with this very soon, too.

Mr. Edgar Cayce, The Association of national Investigators, Inc., Virginia Beach, Va.
Dear Mr. Cayce;
I have just returned from a weekend vacation and found your letter awaiting me, or I would have answered same before this.
Now, as for your desire to buy this property, I don’t think you really appreciate just what you are trying to let yourself in or. If you owned your own house free and clear, the taxes, insurance, upkeep and repairs and interest on your investment, would figure not less than 10% of the cost of your building and land, and a house suitable for your requirements could not be put up for less then twelve or fifteen thousand dollars, not counting the cost of the land; and on this basis your rent would be approximately fifteen to eighteen hundred yearly. If you have this put up through a building loan proposition, the amortization will probably come to another thousand or fifteen hundred yearly, which, it is my belief, is beyond your means to consider at present. Insofar as putting up houses for the purpose of renting to others, would strongly urge that you do not load yourself with this worry, as it is entirely out of your line and a very hazardous venture from a financial viewpoint.
When I was last in Virginia, I expressed to you my great interest in your work and looked forward at that time to identifying myself more closely with it, but before I can do this, you will agree with me that I will have to have more personal proof of its value, and a more thorough knowledge of its stability, and also to assure myself that I am entirely in accord with the policies of those who are backing this movement. Up to the present I have not been able to get much further than I have been since I left Virginia. I trust that I will soon be in a position to do so, and if I do identify myself more closely with this work, it will be with the understanding that you would be put on a salaried basis of not less than ten or twelve thousand yearly and then on this basis, you could afford to build yourself another house where you so desire and within your means, with the added satisfaction of not owing any money thereon. Even if it would be necessary to pay a little bit more for the land later on, I believe you will agree with me that it would be a much wiser proposition to wait until you are put on this self-sustaining basis.
Sincerely yours, [1734]
R9. 4/24/30 EC’s ltr. to [1734]:
Mr. [1734] New York City
My dear Mr. [1734]:
I am just in receipt of yours of the 22nd, and I thank you very much for writing me as you did. No doubt you are exactly right in your surmises about the whole matter. However, I do not OWN the building where I live. My IDEA was, that the five lots - at the price they were offered, and with my building a house that would rent for sixty to seventy-five per month in that location - would so raise the price of the other lots, that within a short while I would be able to DISPOSE of the other lots for sufficient amount to pay for the building and the lots - for I know that it MUST succeed. Possibly, though, I am not the right type to delve into such things - but being just a struggling fellow, naturally it is the desire of everyone, I suppose, to hope to be able at some time to own a little piece of land, other than two by six, that he may call his own. However, I appreciate your counsel.
Now, respecting the work of the Association, I wish that you would get in touch with Mr. Blumenthal. Eddie or Morton, or both. Talk over the work, their experience, their experiences with it, and see just how well the ideas conform to your ideas - and if it is possible for me to be of help in any way toward your UNDERSTANDING just what it is all about, or whether you feel it worth while or not, I’ll be more than glad to try and help. I do not claim ANYTHING for myself. I do not believe there is anything done that is not possible for anyone else to do. It may not be done exactly in the same way and manner, but it is from the same source, and is from the All Good - or it is nothing at all.
I shall be very glad to hear from you at any time, and if at any time I may be of service to you and yours, you know I’ll be more than glad to try and do so.
Again thanking you, and with kindest personal regards - asking to be remembered to Mrs. [1732] and the rest of the family - I am

Mr. [1734] New York City
My dear Mr. [1734]:
We are in receipt of your of the 24th, with request for the readings for Mrs. [1732] and the young lady [1738]. We called at your home today on the phone. Mrs. [1732] was not in. As you know, it is necessary that we know just where the body will be when we go to give the reading, if it is to be successful. We had no call back, nor notification that she expected it to be made today, so of course it wasn’t. The next time our check physicals are given is next Monday, the 5th. Please let us know if Mrs. [1732] will be at home during that morning, so we will know whether she wishes the reading made at that time or not.
We are entering the one for Miss [1738] but I will have to tell you that we are so far behind, we necessarily have to take them in some sort of form in which the requests are made, giving the preference - of course - to those who are present, or those who are in the hospital. We are having to close the membership on those who expect the readings immediately, unless they are coming to the hospital - for we have such a great number that we have not been able to take care of so far. We feel that, more and more, we will have to limit the readings to the hospital and the research work, to do the most good for the most people. I believe that’s correct. What is your opinion?
Hoping to hear from you, and that we may be of service, I am
Sincerely, [EC] EC:GD

Dear Judge:
Just a line today to offer my sympathy for the amount of work that is being piled upon you rapidly. It is very wonderful to outsiders to be so popular, but the responsibility is heaped upon your shoulders with so many people constantly depending upon your efforts in their behalf is only known to a few of us in the inner circle.
I am having a meeting on Monday with the secretary of the Foundation at the suggestion of Mr. [1734] who has requested that I meet with them and tell them more about the work. Mr. [1734] confidentially told me Wednesday night that he hoped to see you placed on a salary of not less than $12,000 per year which will cover your modest needs until some of our own deals and plans go through where you will be independent from everybody.
