This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce in Room #2135 of Hotel Victoria, New York City, this 30th day of October, 1931, in accordance with request made by Mr. [1734] and Dr. S. A. Bisey.
[Edgar Cayce; Gertrude Cayce, Conductor; Gladys Davis, Steno. Dr. Bisey, Messrs. [1734], [257], [426], and Adams.]
Time of Reading 4:00 P. M. Eastern Standard Time. New York City. (Body and enquiring mind, especially in reference to his Beryllium and Atomidine interests - Questions)
-
EC: Yes, we have the body, the enquiring mind, [1734] - this we have had before; also those conditions or interests as in reference to Beryllium and Atomidine. Changes have occurred in both situations since last we had same. Ready for questions.
-
(Q) Regarding Beryllium: What substance or impurity is still in our alloy which makes it too hard and brittle to roll successfully? (A) As we find, it is not the alloy but rather the temperature, or the NATURE of the temperature, at which the rolling, or the working of same, occurs. Will the heating be raised to a greater temperature in the activities, then it would PREVENT that of the brittleness or the activities that occur in the present handling of same.
-
(Q) What temperature do you suggest? (A) Raise from sixty to sixty-five degrees higher than that as it is worked in at present.
-
(Q) What is the proper flux to use in melting and alloying our metals and what is the proper method? (A) With more manganese, this will make for a better gathering together of the atoms in the metal for a more perfect product, and will make for a better handling. This would be not a high percent, but needs to be tested in the varied ways as for the compressions or rollings in the making.
-
(Q) Is manganese alone a flux, or something else? (A) Manganese is an addition to that as has been in the flux, see - for, as we find, in making a product of the nature, manganese is as one that acts in the capacity of MAKING the ALLOYS as come in the heating and rolling to form more of the drawing together in such a manner as to give that property that makes for flexibility of its various uses, WITHOUT making heavier in the handling.
-
(Q) Regarding Atomidine: Was the experiment of passing an electric current through our Atomidine carried out exactly according to instructions? [See 358-1 and 358-2.] (A) Rather should there have been a greater quantity of the solution through which the current passed, that carried the electronic forces into the product or solution. As to the temperature, or the amount of current, this just about the proper measure. There will be seen, as has been given, that with the product so electrified, the same reaction in the system as the solution or product is made in the system of a body; for, as this condition exists: As the product is an element that is necessary in the human body, or all animal life, for the COORDINATING of tissue for the activity of glands in the body; as the glands AND the tissue are especially of the ELECTRONIC NATURE in the body, those of properties that are to be assimilated must necessarily have that content to bring the same stimulation each time that makes for the cohesive activity, or that as of a relative nature that work together, rather than having an antipathy one for another. This is that accomplished by electrifying the product. Not that it breaks any of the elements in the product, or solution; rather makes same so as to conform WITH the NEEDS of the human body. This is better, as will be found by experimentation, than with that of passing those of oxygen, or those of other elements. While oxidized, or oxygen is also a necessary element in the breaking up, especially of tissue that is infected in any manner in the human body, yet its oxygen vibrations with the basic forces in this solution are not the same. It is true that were this to be applied in those conditions as were primarily of an EXTERNAL nature, these would be bettered; for then we would produce in such cases as ulcer, in eczema, in rash, in hives, in sores of ANY nature. The oxidization, then, so covers the external portions as to destroy the outward or external portions and heal from within in a better manner. While those for and of the portions of system that are acted upon by the property itself are component factors in the body in the muco-membranes of the digestive system, in the activities of the lung or respiratory system, in those especially of the glands, as in the thyroid or in those of the adrenal, or those about the caecum, those even about the scrotum and the activities of the glands about same, THESE will act in the way that the electrical forces make for vibrations that in each system will coordinate and make for a better product. Use, then, a larger container or quantity of solution in which the property is suspended when the current is passed through same.
-
(Q) How much larger? (A) For the size as used, or this - make this as a proportion, and proportion it as according to the quantity that is electrified. For the two ounce solution, use at least two GALLONS of the solution, or BUILDER, THROUGH which the current is electrified, and be sure there is that IN the solution that BUILDS as of ITSELF; for remember, there is a different form of electricity created by current passing through solution already in action and it - the solution - being suddenly sapped up by current passing through, gives to the atoms of the solution being electrified a different activity in the system.
-
(Q) What length of time should the electric current be used? (A) 15 to 20 minutes, dependent upon - of course - this has got to be governed by the quantity of solution, both suspended and in which it IS suspended, see? For as the ratio now, as given, with the same amount as given, this would be for 15 minutes. Now if we increase the quantity and the container, remember the electrification does not begin to take place until the WHOLE of the solution has reached the same temperature - see? Hence the same proportions in the length of time, and the quantities kept in the same ratio.
-
(Q) Should the willow charcoal be used in the solution, or not? (A) Not necessary, unless this is going to be given directly to the body FROM the solution - see?
-
(Q) Could the same solution be used over and over again? (A) Be used over again, so long as the solution is DISCHARGING - see? That is, solution in which the property is suspended, so long as this is DISCHARGING, or has an electrical force itself without current turned on.
-
(Q) Can the Atomidine Ointment be made so that it retains its strength without any antiseptic deterioration whatever? If so, how? (A) This would require an entirely different chemical preparation, for as the atomic forces in the basic force of the property itself is thrown off by exposure, were it able to be kept entirely without AIR, so that there is no reaction FROM the forces without on the property ITSELF! But this had BEST be made so that it may be PREPARED as it is to be used, without going through a higher process, and were this TO be used, then we would oxidize the property; that is, pass it through oxygen, or oxygen within same, which would hold it more in suspension - but is easier to act upon, by the activity even with the oxygen, as seen.
-
(Q) Should the Beslin Co. interests be eliminated by reorganization or other method before any arrangement for a broader merchandising plan is consummated? (A) The reorganizing, as WE would find, would be the better and more SATISFACTORY manner to go about for the general distribution of the product itself; though in the reorganizing there should be consideration given to the first, or the activities of those who made it POSSIBLE for the product TO be so near to a perfect product for what it is to do! But we would re-organize. To be sure, the general distribution is the manner, NOT only the way to make MONEY out of the product (for there’s millions in it!) but being as well a product that WILL be of a great deal of benefit to the human family. When there is the general distribution, there should ever be the warning that the physician should be consulted as respecting same, and the DOSAGE should be altered! This, as we understand, is in opposition to much of the findings of those who have made tests as respecting the product, but these are the conditions as we find them; and remember, this is going to a public - and the product must be responsible, rather than a man that may hide behind something else!
-
(Q) There are three parties, Carter, Clark and [257], looking into the taking over the marketing of our product. Are any of these the proper parties with whom we should conclude negotiations? If so, which? (A) Any ONE of these, provided they - either of these parties - have made their proper connections for the way TO distribute, or to finance the campaigns for the distributions in various centers of the product. Any of these, for their interests may be made one.
-
(Q) In what way could Mr. [426] assist in getting public acceptance of Atomidine? (A) First in advisory manner, second in the manner of PRESENTING same to a seeking public.
-
(Q) Could he aid in the financial set-up, and how? (A) Directly, or through channels IN which the body [426] is interested.
-
We are through for the present.

Reports & Follow-up
R1. 1/22/32 EC’s ltr. to Mr. [1734]:
My dear Mr. [1734]
I haven’t heard from you since our visit to New York in November.
You no doubt remember my talking about a compound that was given through our information as a remedy for pyorrhea [Ipsab], receding gums, bleeding gums, and the like. This has proven a very much worth while product by tests, both by the profession and the public. I have been considering for a long while some way to get this on the market. Recently I have interested a chain of drug stores, the main branch of these having for some years compounded many of the prescriptions given through these channels for individuals in various parts of the country. We have practically decided on our way of distribution. While we realize it is a very slow process, it is one that will in a very short while - we believe - pay its own way. The formula will not pass out of my hands. I will manufacture the product, or have it manufactured under my supervision. This will be sent in bulk to the drug house for bottling, labeling, etc. I will do part of the advertising through our own channels, as well as through some newspapers. I need a little capital to begin this - just a few hundred dollars. I was wondering if it would be of interest to you to furnish this capital for an interest in the company? I assure you there will never be another demand or request for capital in this direction, and it will not be over five hundred dollars - which will give you one-tenth of my part. To be sure, the drug house is to furnish cartons, printed literature, labels, bottles, etc., and is to do the distributing - but for the necessary paraphernalia to manufacture it, I’ll need at least that amount - though it won’t take it all at once. This may seem very unethical to you, but to me it means that we will have a real income in a short while - for the product DOES sell! I would appreciate it if you would let me hear from you in regard to this in the very near future.
With all good wishes and regards to you and yours, I am
Ever the same, [EC] EC:GD

Mr. Edgar Cayce, Association For Research & Enlightenment, Inc., Virginia Beach, Virginia
My dear Mr. Cayce:
I have your letter of the 22nd of January and noted very carefully contents.
As you know I am interested in a like preparation Atomidine] on which I am still waiting until I can find the right connections to introduce same properly to the public.
I find the expense of carrying my proposition until I am able to make proper connections a very heavy drain upon my resources and therefore I am unwilling to add at the present time any extra burden upon me.
With kindest regards, I am
Sincerely yours, Mr. [1734]
R3. 1/28/32 EC’s ltr. to Mr. [1734]:
Dear Mr. [1734]
Many thanks for yours of the 25th. I am sorry that you do not see your way clear to assist in our preparation at this time. However, I do not agree with you that the two preparations are similar. I think they fill entirely different places in the lives of individuals. It is my hope that you will be very successful in making the proper connections.
With kindest personal regards, I am
Sincerely, [EC] EC:GD
R4. 2/22/32 Letter from Dr. Sunker A. Bisey to EC: ”…The negotiations to raise further capital have failed and Mr. [1734] is unwilling to invest more capital and so for the past 6 weeks I have had to accept half the royalty and should this continue for another 8 weeks I shall be reluctantly obliged to cancel my license in which case the property and proprietary rights will revert back to me and Mr. [1734] will suffer the loss of his capital… He staunchly believes in the product but wants someone else to invest the capital without relinquishing the control and of course under such conditions capital is hard to obtain…” [See 358-2.]
R5. 1/31/33 EC’s ltr. to Mr. [1734]:
Dear Mr. [1734]
For some time we have not heard from you. I trust that the world is treating you very kindly, that this finds you and yours in the very best of health and meeting the conditions that arise from day to day - through the general distress that seems to be caused throughout the country at this time.
Are you still interested in the sale and distribution of Atomidine? We have continued to find several cases where this product has been suggested. Recently, especially in the Middle West, the local people have had trouble in getting a supply. A physician for whom it was suggested, as well as for some of his patients, reports that he has not been able to get it at his regular supply house; he wrote directly to Schieffelin some weeks ago and has not yet heard from them.
Locally we have suggested Atomidine a number of times, and have succeeded in getting it distributed through the drug stores in Norfolk. However to buy it and mail it to our customers is quite expensive, especially when having to pay the retail price.
Could a plan be arranged whereby we could distribute Atomidine in the vicinities where we are advertising it? Would it be possible for us to buy Atomidine at a wholesale price and distribute it in the territories where we have a demand for it, and that have not been supplied as yet? Perhaps this would seem a slow way, yet it has certainly been very effective - and Atomidine is making friends in many portions of the country through our efforts, especially in districts where the drinking water is not satisfactory.
I would like to hear from you in regard to such a plan, if you deem it worth while.
With all good wishes to you and yours, I am
Sincerely, [EC] ASSOCIATION FOR RESEARCH & ENLIGHTENMENT, INC. [EC:GD]
R6. 1/31/33 EC’s ltr. to Dr. S. A. Bisey:
Dear Dr. Bisey:-
It has been some little time since we have heard from you. I trust the general depression has treated you as kindly as might be expected, under the existing circumstances.
We have continued to have suggestions through our readings for the use of your product, Atomidine. It might be that we could give you some very good reports, or case histories, if you would care for such; at least sometime in the near future.
In some localities where this has been suggested, we have had trouble in locating the product.
Would it be plausible or possible for us to arrange with you and your associates to distribute Atomidine in the vicinities where it is not available at once? We would be very glad to hear from you about this, and in general.
Hoping you are feeling the very best in the world, and with all good wishes, I am
Sincerely, [EC] EC:GD
P.S. Under separate cover we are sending to you an article on Life Readings [See Life Readings article under 2265-1 Reports.], which I believe you will find interesting. Should you contact anyone whom you might feel we could assist in any way, we would appreciate your speaking to them regarding the Work.

My dear Dr. Cayce:
I received your letter of Jan. 31st and was mighty glad to hear from you. I am glad you are taking such a personal interest in pushing Atomidine to your friends and I will be very happy to receive the reports and case histories you speak of if you will kindly send them at your early convenience. The question of supplying Atomidine to your friends I understand that you have already written to Mr. [1734] and he has already written to you about it.
Since I wrote you last many important and interesting things have occurred, and some of the psychic experiences which you may find interesting. Last September Mr. [1734] at the advice of some friends, started a campaign of putting Atomidine of the market under a new name for female hygiene, and they all thought it would go very big. The campaign was started about the 20th of September and two days afterwards I went into a deep meditation and trance condition and had a dream message that the campaign would be a flop and they would not be able to sell even two dozen packages within two weeks, and that on the 24th day something of a drastic nature would take place which would work for my benefit. I told about the dream messages to Mr. [1734] and other people and they could not believe it because they had placed the product on sale at nine different stores and surely expected a good sale. But it happened just as I dreamed, within two weeks they just sold about a dozen packages and the whole thing failed, and just on the 24th day […] all of a sudden took drastic action in winding up the whole company and making a new start. About that time I had another vision in which I saw Mr. [1734] starting up and doing some active work. And that was so. Now Mr. [1734] is very greatly interested in pushing Atomidine forward and has agreed to put in about $50,000 of new capital, and hope the thing will go better. I will let you know how the thing progresses. But my three dream messages and visions are come absolutely true.
With kindest regards, I am,
Yours very sincerely, [signed] S. A. Bisey

Dr. S. A. Bisey, Box 288, Grand Central Station, New York
My dear Dr. Bisey:-
We were very glad to have yours of the 9th. As yet I had no word from Mr. [1734]. I hope you will both understand that I am not asking for anything, save to be better able to distribute your product to those in various portions of the country who have had it recommended for them through the readings. As I said before, in several places we have found it impossible to procure Atomidine, and one physician has had trouble in even getting the manufacturers to respond.
There are several reports that we will prepare for you. We have been quite busy trying to get sufficient together to keep going, so I haven’t had a chance to compile these. But we certainly do need the cooperation and support of those whom I believe the readings are favorable to, in the very things they are pressing.
Your experience is certainly quite interesting. No doubt your guiding forces have enabled you to see just what is going to take place. I do not feel there is any doubt but what this product can help our fellow man, as well as furnish sufficient returns to satisfy all who are interested in its manufacture and sale, to satisfy all who are interested in its manufacture and sale, provided it is given some national advertising and some arrangements whereby a more universal distribution may be made. The merit is there, and I am sure that each time we have recommended it through these sources
- where directions have been followed as given - it has proven to be most beneficial to each individual case. We have a very interesting case in the South now, which we hope to follow to a successful conclusion, and we will be glad to submit a report to you regarding it.
Should you see Mr. [1734], I would appreciate your jogging his memory - as to whether it is worth considering or not (that is, my proposition). If it isn’t, then let him say so. But I presume that in the last six months we have sold a hundred and fifty bottles of your product.
Thanking you for your letter, and with kindest regards, I am
Sincerely, [EC] ASSOCIATION FOR RESEARCH & ENLIGHTENMENT, INC. EC:GD

BRITISH ATOMIDINE COMPANY BOX 288, Grand Central Station New York
Dr. Edgar Cayce, Virginia Beach, Virginia
Dear Dr. Cayce:
I received your letter of the 14th. inst. Mr. Assmus, the new manager appointed by Mr. [1734] to promote the sales of ATOMIDINE, has already written you about supplying you with ATOMIDINE at wholesale prices and I hope you find the arrangement satisfactory and allow you fair return for your efforts.
I would certainly appreciate your sending me several reports about some of the interesting cases that have come under your observation particularly the one in the South at the present time.
I am enclosing some copies of testimonials sent by our mutual friend Dr. Frischkorn of Norfolk, Virginia they are very interesting. Dr. Frischkorn is still trying some experiments and is greatly interested in the merits of ATOMIDINE. I am also enclosing copy of a testimonial from Dr. Kellerman which is also very interesting.
Some time ago I had a dream vision of which ATOMIDINE was used in the treatment of Lepers with beneficial results so I have been trying to get some medical man interested in trying it on such cases and one Doctor in India in charge of a Leper Hospital has kindly consented to give it a trial, and I am hoping it will give good results. Should you come across any such cases please give ATOMIDINE a trial.
Last year the ATOMIDINE business was at a standstill and Mr. [1734] being undecided about the policies to adopt did not pay me my usual Royalties besides I had to meet some heavy doctor’s expenses due to my illness but since this month Mr. [1734] is taking a keen interest in the matter and hope I shall again be on my feet financially in three or four months time when I shall be glad to make some contribution of your worthy fund.
Hoping to hear from you at your earliest convenience and to receive your reports.
I am with kind regards,
Sincerely Yours, [signed] S. A. Bisey [SAB/HS]
R11. 2/28/33 EC’s ltr. to Dr. S. A. Bisey:
Dear Dr. Bisey:-
Many thanks for yours of the 21st, and for sending me a copy of the reports as to results individuals have had from using your product. It is too bad that I can’t give you the two cases I want to report at this time, more in the form of a doctor’s certificate, or that we haven’t them signed directly by the individuals themselves; though I am sure either of these would be glad to give a report directly should you desire it. However, they give the credit to the readings for giving how the Atomidine should be used with other properties suggested.
We are returning the reports, and thank you very much for sending them for our perusal.
Still we are finding many different cases where the readings suggest the use of Atomidine, either alone or in conjunction with something else. In practically every case we are finding excellent results, or the individuals report such.
I’m glad you have been able to get Mr. [1734] interested sufficiently to undertake creating a wider distribution of the product. It is something that everyone should be able to have.
I had a letter from the organization that is handling the proposition. They gave me a price that is very satisfactory, but I think they failed to get just my idea. Not that I want them to give me anything, for I’m not in business to sell the stuff to anybody. I don’t want to sell it. I merely would like to know HOW I can arrange to get it distributed in the various centers where there has heretofore been no sale, so that when we recommend it they will have no trouble in obtaining it right away, without having to wait weeks, sometimes months, to get it. One physician in Peoria, Ill., tried for three months to get a supply of Atomidine. Possibly this was during the period of change. But many people, as you can very well recognize, come to believe there isn’t any such thing, when they have such an experience. So, I hope there will be a general distribution of it throughout the country, that it may be put into the hands of all the wholesale people in such a way that it may be distributed very easily. Also I hope it will get you in the financial shape that is satisfactory to you. I can very well realize just what the conditions have been to everyone throughout the country for the last few years. I know what it means when you are “under the weather”, or any member of your family, and I hope you will soon be feeling your normal self again, and that there will be many years of useful service that you may give to the human family; for you are a very much needed man, in the work you have done are are doing for mankind.
The enclosed reports [2/28/33 See enclosure below from Edgar Cayce to Dr. S. A. Bisey, discoverer of Atomidine] may be similar to some you have had, but they seem to be quite remarkable in the results obtained.
Hoping to hear from you, I am
Sincerely, [EC] EC:GD INDIVIDUAL REPORTS ON ATOMIDINE
Case of Miss [951] - …, Ohio - 18 years of age; had been suffering for several years with what had been diagnosed as arthritis. Physician’s had despaired of anything being done, to prevent continual hardening and enlarging of joints, and stiffness arising from such. There was gradual contraction of tendons and muscles from all joints, especially hands and feet.
A course of Atomidine was prescribed, small dosage three times a day for a period of three weeks; then a rest period of a week, then another three weeks of the Atomidine with baths and other recommendations, including strict diet.
At the end of four weeks the patient was free entirely of any suffering, soreness, stiffness, and to date - now nearly six months - no return of any bad symptoms.
The treatment is still being continued, with a reduced quantity of Atomidine.
Mrs. [272] - …, Ala. - 40 yrs. of age; had a very bad case of infection from G. C. germs, which had been disturbing her for some months. Treatments from physicians had failed to clear the blood stream or to give any relief from local infections.
Atomidine was prescribed in courses, 8 to 10 drops twice a day, and douches carrying Atomidine also.
Almost immediately there was noted relief from the eruptions, as well as from the severe pains that had continued for some time.
The condition has cleared entirely, and the body attributes her relief to the use of Atomidine - which cleansed her body of the dreaded condition.

Dear Dr. Cayce:
I am in receipt of your letter of the 20 of Feb. last and thank you very much for sending me the reports of two cases which are indeed very interesting. Whenever you have anything to report of an interesting nature, I would indeed be very glad to hear from you.
I am glad that the proposition made by my Company for supplying ATOMIDINE is satisfactory to you. I would suggest that as ATOMIDINE is listed in Druggist’s Circular [3/7/33 See Atomidine flier and attached medical reports below] of which every Druggist has a copy that you tell any of your friends that have difficulty in getting it to have their druggist consult this circular or the Schieffelin Trade list and place the order with Schieffelin & Co. direct or their Jobbers and the stuff will be obtained in a few days. In this way the druggist will get acquainted with our product and finding a demand for it he will take care to have a supply always on hand.
At present everything is topsy-turvy due to the Banking situation but I hope things will right themselves in the near future.
With Kind Regards,
Sincerely Yours, [signed] S. A. Bisey [SAB:HS]
ATOMIDINE IN MEDICINE
Made and Distributed by SCHIEFFELIN & CO. Established 1794 - NEW YORK
For Atomidine Company Mount Vernon, New York
Atomidine is a stable compound of iodine in a saline solution that liberates the element in an atomic or nascent state on contact with an excess of solvent, such as the fluids of the body. No other active medicinal agents are present. By liberating nascent or atomic iodine, Atomidine furnishes the organism with this element in such a form that it may be readily utilized.
The lethal dose of Atomidine in animals is very large, which accounts for the absence of untoward effects in its clinical use. Due probably to its rapid absorption and its ready combination with harmless proteid or other organic compounds in the body, iodism very rarely occurs even in sensitive persons.
Atomidine acts beneficially in iodine deficiency diseases, gastro-intestinal disorders and asthenic conditions. It has the property of reducing blood-pressure in cases of hypertension. Atomidine is an efficient diuretic and urinary antiseptic, acting in either an acid or alkaline medium.
DOSAGE
Approximately 1/100 grain of iodine is present in one drop of the solution.
The average dose is 5 to 10 drops in one-half glassful of cold water, repeated every two or three hours. Frequent small doses are more effective than larger amounts at less frequent intervals. When an intensive effect is desired 20 or more drops may be administered over the critical period and repeated as required.
Atomidine should be diluted only at the time of taking, and never given after a starchy meal.
It should not be administered in combination with other drugs.
ATOMIDINE IN DENTISTRY
Atomidine is the remedy of choice wherever a powerful non-irritating antiseptic and germicide is required.
In post-operative cases, such as tooth extraction, Atomidine cannot be recommended too highly. It acts as a hemostatic and is non-escharotic. When applied to the tooth socket in the pure state there is an immediate blanching of the tissues with an arrest of hemorrhage. An almost complete freedom from pain is observed in extraction and oral surgery operations wherever Atomidine is used as a post-operative application.
Atomidine stimulates the growth of tissue. Two or three days after an extraction and the application of Atomidine, the socket is filled with healthy granulations.
MEDICAL REPORTS ON ATOMIDINE (A TOMI-DINE) [12/2/82 GD’s note: Case numbers on these Atomidine medical reports have no relation to case numbers used for the Edgar Cayce readings. The majority of the listed Atomidine reports were obtained on patients in foreign countries.]
ATOMIDINE is a scientifically prepared ethical product of ATOMIC iodine, endorsed and prescribed by many leading doctors and is the culmination of many years of research work of Dr. S. A. Bisey, D.Sc. (Hon.), distinguished scientist and inventor.
Since its discovery in 1914, it has been the first and foremost ethical preparation of iodine that liberates ATOMIC iodine upon contact with body fluids. It is NON-POISONOUS, NON-IRRITATING, STAINLESS, ODORLESS AND A WATER SOLUBLE COMPOUND, SAFE FOR INTERNAL ADMINISTRATION. ATOMIDINE is manufactured and distributed by the well known manufacturing pharmacists, MESSRS. SCHIEFFELIN & CO., OF NEW YORK.
In its early years it was known under various names. During twelve years of test period and research work it received endorsement from the medical profession as a recognized product of high medicinal and scientific value and ONE OF THE GREATEST CONTRIBUTIONS TO MATERIA MEDICA. This led to the adoption of its scientific name ATOMIDINE (atomic iodine) in keeping with medical terminology, by which name it has been known since 1926.
Thousands of doctors in America and other countries have prescribed ATOMIDINE and have reported splendid results in a wide range of diseases. We have in our files many hundreds of clinical, chemical and case reports, together with testimonial letters and articles published in medical journals with clinical testimony supporting the various claims made for ATOMIDINE. ADDITIONAL CLINICAL DATA
There are many conditions, not mentioned here, for which ATOMIDINE has been used with good results and due to the fact that it is non-poisonous and non-irritating it has greatly extended the scope of iodine therapy - particularly for internal treatment. In our files there are several medical reports as to the satisfactory use of ATOMIDINE in - cancer, leprosy, epilepsy and tuberculosis. A preliminary investigation as to the use of ATOMIDINE in intramuscular and intravenous injections has been productive of the most gratifying evidence and further research is being conducted for the purpose of putting the preparation in suitable ampules for injection therapy. Further information or copies of medical reports will be gladly submitted on request.
ATOMIDINE OINTMENT
The valuable properties of ATOMIDINE are incorporated in ATOMIDINE ointment which renders them available for topical applications. ATOMIDINE ointment is a preparation of genuine therapeutic merit that will meet exacting clinical requirements. It is penetrative, non-irritating, emollient, effective in both aerobic and anaerobic infections, it promotes cell metabolism and repair and relieves pain and congestion. Physicians will find it of real value for digital examination of rectum and the female genitalia, and an excellent palliative for local application by means of tampon.

Dear Dr. Bisey:-
I was indeed very glad to have yours of the 7th. For a few days I was in New York the latter part of the week, but didn’t have an opportunity to talk with you or to even phone, as I was very busy every minute of the time.
One thing that has made it hard for some wholesale people or jobbers to get hold of Atomidine, I presume, has been the change made sometime ago in your association with Schieffelin. However, I hope everything will work out satisfactorily through the present arrangements.
Of course, for the last few days everything has been topsy-turvy. The banking situation straightened out, as it began in your place yesterday I believe, many other places today, possibly the rest by the end of the week, will restore much confidence and I trust that in the very near future we will see business on a better basis, and the outlook for each and every one much better.
Hoping to see you on my next visit, that you will let us hear from you when you have the opportunity, and with all good wishes, I am
Sincerely, [EC] EC:GD

Dr. Edgar Cayce, Virginia Beach, Virginia
My Dear Dr. Cayce;
I was glad to know from Mr. Ladd, the club secretary, that a branch of your E.C. Foundation is being formed in this city. [See 254-65 in re NY mtg.] I am enclosing a copy of my letter to him.
You remember that some time ago I suggested to you to open a branch of your Foundation in this city to get a larger number of people interested in your work but at that time the idea did not appeal to you and I am so very glad that you have now decided to open such a branch here, and you may depend on my giving you my heartiest co-operation.
You have all along taken a personal interest in bringing ATOMIDINE to the notice of your friends and I appreciate it very much I assure you.
Hoping to have the pleasure of meeting you again in the near future, with Kind Regards
I remain,
Yours Most Sincerely, [signed] Dr. S. A. Bisey. [SAB:HS]

Mr. R. N. Ladd 501 Madison Ave., New York City
Dear Mr. Ladd;
In reply to your letter of the 15th. I was very glad to learn that a branch of the Cayce Foundation is being established in this city and I am happy to know that you have kindly elected me a member of the Foundation.
It would be a very good idea to have either a lunch or dinner held in honour of Dr. Cayce. Regarding the date and time any day of the week is usually convenient to me but I would make it convenient any day or time provided you let me know a couple of days in advance.
With kind regards and best wishes,
Very Truly Yours, S. A. Bisey. [SAB:HS]
R16. 4/25/33 EC’s ltr. to Dr. S. A. Bisey:
Dear Dr. Bisey:-
I am in receipt of yours of the 18th, also enclosing copy of your letter to Mr. Ladd [see R15 above]. I appreciate your writing me, and I appreciate the attitude you have taken regarding the attempt there, on the part of my friends, to to - if possible - interest a sufficient number of those who have reasons - many who have not been able to put them into words - for believing help and aid may come to them through these sources. And for one such as yourself, who has been gifted by nature - or God, or whoever we choose to call it
- with the knowledge of such things, to join also in such a movement, of course, brings a great satisfaction that would be hard to describe to someone else.
Oftentimes I have wished that I might have the opportunity to work closer with you, for I realize that your experience, your training, has fitted you for a real leader in a work of this nature, that may not be found very often in the experience of but few.
If they are able to arouse sufficient interest to warrant calling the meeting, and if I am privileged to be present, I trust I may have the opportunity to talk with you at some length regarding not only our own personal interests so much, but rather as to how we may cooperate in being of greater service to our fellow man.
I would appreciate it a very great deal if you could make an appointment with Mr. Ladd [Robert Nelson Ladd: Chm. of 1st A.R.E. Study Group, in Hempstead, L.I., N.Y.] to talk with him at length. He is very sincere, and a very lovable man. I don’t know whether you have met him in person as yet or not, but I am sure you will find him very worth while. It is true that his experience has not been conducive to as broad a field, possibly, as you and I may feel we have; yet sincerity in being of service to our fellow man is the first pre- requisite in being of value to our brothers, and this I’m sure you will find that he possesses.
Hoping that I may hear from you again, trusting you may have the opportunity to see Mr. Ladd and any of the rest of our friends or associates there, and with all good wishes to you and yours, I am
Ever the same, EC:GD
P.S. Recently I have had quite an unusual experience. Nothing new, I could possibly say; but I know that you have had - and possibly have now - associations and connections with some of the initiates in India. One of the best known astrologers [Laurie Pratt], and one considered by a great number throughout the country as an authority on astrological research and astrological reports, has been kind enough to submit to me a reading, casting the chart and giving the report, especially, as in reference to psychic abilities. I’m wondering if you could put me in touch with, or could suggest someone of these teachers; not that I want to checkup, not that I’m questioning what has been given, but I believe it is said by one in authority, “In the mouth of two or three witnesses a fact is established.”
Please let me hear about this also. EC.

BISEY RESEARCH LABORATORY Established 1921 Box 288, Grand Central Annex New York City Dr. Edgar Cayce, Virginia Beach, Virginia
My Dear Dr. Cayce;
I received your letter of the 25th, April last and was very glad to hear from you.
I endeavored to see Mr. Ladd twice but he happened to be out when I received his letter of the 9th inst. regarding the dinner on the 18th. inst. in honour of Mrs. Cayce, Miss Davis and yourself and I am writing to Mr. Ladd accepting the invitation and informing him that Mrs. Bisey and myself will have the pleasure of attending the dinner and are looking forward to the pleasure of meeting you all at that time.
It is indeed very kind of you to think so highly about my psychic gifts and I would always be glad to co-operate and help a person of your psychic attainments and gifts.
I do hope that your friends will be sufficiently interested to make it possible for you to open a branch of your foundation in this city. I will certainly be very happy to be of any help to you and when you are here I hope you will be able to appoint a little time so we could get together and have a heart to heart talk on matters and subjects in which we are both sincerely interested.
I read with a great deal of interest the [May 1933] bulletin giving your Astrological Forecast and no doubt your unique psychic gifts are in conformity with the exalted position of the planets in your Horoscope. While in India I used to know some Astrological experts but owing to my continued stay in this country I have lost touch with them. I know an Astrologer here who is very capable and trustworthy and I would be glad to have him verify the positions of the planets in your Horoscope, and I will endeavor to bring him to the dinner if he happens to be in town and available. I will tell you about him further when we meet. With kindest personal regards and best wishes and looking forward to meeting you shortly.
I remain, as ever,
Yours Sincerely [signed] S. A. Bisey. [SAB:HS]

THE TRIUMPHANT CAREER OF A HINDESE SCIENTIST
WE HEARTILY CONGRATULATE THE EMINENT HINDESE SCIENTIST, S. BISEY, UPON HIS COMPLETION OF HALF A CENTURY’S RECORD AS A SCIENTIST AND INVENTOR. A SELF-MADE MAN, SUNKAR BISEY HAS SET A NOBLE EXAMPLE WORTHY OF EMULATION BY THE YOUTH OF INDIA AND OF THE WORLD. HIS STORY DESERVES TO BE KNOWN FAR AND WIDE. - EDITOR (Haridas T. Muzumdar, Ph.D.)
To The Editor of “India Today and Tomorrow” 20 Vesey Street New York, N.Y.
Dear Sir:
Permit me to bring to the attention of the readers of your esteemed paper the following autobiographical sketch of a humble worker in behalf of Science, Truth and Humanity.
It is fifty years this month of May, 1933, that a certain incident came into my life that made me turn a new leaf and resolve to pursue my own career as a scientist and to endeavor to rise in this world and visit foreign lands, depending solely on my own efforts rather than to accept the financial help cheerfully offered by my wealthy father. And I am happy to say I fulfilled my ambition and met with a great deal of success in spite of handicaps.
In the year 1883 I was in India at Dhulia, in Bombay Presidency, where my father was a Civil Judge for the District. I was then sixteen years of age and attending High School. My father was indeed very kind to me and showed me great affection. Being the eldest son, he naturally wished me to study law and to qualify myself for a good position in the Judicial Department with his influence. But, fortunately or unfortunately, my tendencies were all toward mechanical and scientific work from my earliest years.
In those days of half a century ago, in India, it was considered unbecoming for the son of a dignified District Judge to dabble with mechanics, carpentry and such craftsmanship and so my father was naturally greatly disappointed to note my tendencies, although he never interfered with my experimental work nor declined to give me money to purchase materials and things I needed.
Sir R. V. Subnis, Ex-Prime Minister of Kolhapur State, was then Head Master of The Dhulia High School, and being an old friend of my father, used to visit us often. Whilst I was studying in his High School at Dhulia, he gave me the Scientific American to read, knowing my tendencies toward scientific subjects he once presented me with a small chemical apparatus to carry on some interesting experiments with it. Reading of the Scientific American, and particularly the interesting account of the Late Thomas A. Edison’s inventions, filled me with the ambitious desire of becoming a scientist like him and some day go to America and meet him. In fact, I began to look upon America as my dreamland. Mr. Subnis admired my unusual scientific tendencies and often encouraged me.
In the month of May, 1883, fifty years ago, a peculiar incident took place which I owe my success. One Sunday morning Mr. Subnis came to consult my father on some matter. My father then asked me to bring some papers which he had told me previously to keep ready but my mind being engrossed with some experimental work, I had altogether forgotten to carry out his instructions. He was then naturally very angry with me and blamed me severely in the presence of Mr. Subnis about my negligence and for wasting my time doing useless experimental work instead of enjoying the summer vacation or studying as other boys did. That being the first time my father had been so angry with me, I was much hurt.
Mr. Subnis then advised my father to encourage me for my scientific turn of mind and declared that some day I would be a renowed scientist and inventor if properly encouraged. After that my father, believing in Mr. Subnis’s advice, never spoke a harsh word to me and left me alone to carry out my work.
But my father’s blaming me in the presence of my teacher and showing his dislike for my scientific turn of mind had a different effect on my sensitiveness. I went to my mother and cried bitterly. I did not realize then that my revered father meant well. I misjudged him instead and thought that as I often troubled him for giving me money for my experimental work he disliked such work. In the heat of the moment I took an oath before my mother never to ask any more financial aid from my father for my scientific work and made a firm resolution to make my own way in scientific research, to visit America and to meet Mr. Edison some day. I resolved always to rely on my own work for finances. That day I turned a new leaf in my life and gladly stuck to my resolution ever since through thick and thin, for the last half century and fulfilled my ambition.
I begged my mother not to tell my father about my resolution, as I did not wish to hurt his feelings. For the first five or six years, it was difficult for me to meet expenses and many a time I had to go without luncheon at school to save money out of my weekly allowance. After finishing high school I entered the Government Service to earn funds to carry out my scientific work. When I made some little success with it, and began to attract public attention, my father was happy and expressed a desire to send me to England to learn some technical art or science.
I was then obliged to remind him of the incident which took place some seven years previously and respectfully declined his kind offer. He was surprised and felt sorry about it, and tried to persuade me to break my boyish resolution and accept the offer of his help. But I requested him to overlook my disobedience and not tempt me with his offer.
I was feeling happy in what I was doing and felt justly proud of my resolution which was teaching me a valuable lesson in self-reliance while setting an example for some of the sons of rich men to follow. My father understood my attitude and felt happy and proud about it.
My father passed away in 1893. In 1895 I accepted an offer to go to England where I spent six months and exhibited some of my scientific optical illusions invented by me and many English papers spoke highly about them. In 1897 H. H. Sayajirao, Gaikwar of Baroda, gave me a valuable present for my scientific work at a special Durbar. In 1898 I won a prize in England completing with several European inventors for inventing an automatic weighing machine. It being the first time for a Hindu to win such a competition in England, I was hailed as an inventive genius. Several prominent citizens of Bombay then urged me to resign my Government service and go to England as a pioneer Hindu inventor and scientist to prove to the world that the Hindus did not lack inventive faculty.
My mother strongly opposed my going abroad. She could not understand why I should forsake a comfortable home, a young wife and a son and a promising Government position to under- take a risky job in foreign lands. But I realized the importance of what seemed to me a national mission. I gladly answered the call to do my duty to my motherland, and came to England in 1899 and since then have been carrying out such work.
For sixteen years I carried out my work in England in which the late Hon. Dadabhai Naoroji, Sir Ratan Tata and Hon. G. K. Gokhale took a keen interest. I invented type-casting machines on original lines and as I solved some intricate problems unsolved by European inventors I was called the Edison of India. In 1908 I was honoured by the Indian National Industrial Congress at Madras for my scientific work. Since 1916 I have been permanently established in this country. I completed the type-casting machines. The Scientific American published an illustrated article about these machines in August, 1917, and the Inland Printer and other technical papers also published illustrated articles.
Besides the type-casting machines I put on the market an iodine compound known as Atomidine (atomic iodine). It is acknowledged to be the only water soluble, non-poisonous, non-irritating, odorless compound of iodine known to science that has also the unique property of helping the growth of healthy tissue. It is the result of ten years of my research work and is prescribed by thousands of physicians and dentists in this country and abroad. When in December, 1930, the late Thomas A. Edison granted me a special interview and presented me with an autographed photograph I felt that I had fulfilled my ambitions completely.
Among my several handicaps I was a native of India and my Hindu race was considered backward in science and invention. In fact, the prevalent impression was that the inventive faculty was not a natural heritage of the Hindu race, an erroneous impression which my work considerably helped to remove. I had to carry out all my work in foreign lands with scanty capital and meantime I had to support my wife and children also in foreign lands.
Like other inventors, I had my share of uphill work, but being in foreign lands it was even harder. Now, after 50 years’ labors, I am well established in this country, the land of my dreams, my work is known internationally, and my name referred to in the “Who’s Who in America” and other reference books. I feel, therefore, justly proud of my record as a self-made man coming from ‘backward’ India and establishing as a scientist and inventor in this leading land of the world.
In 1883 while in India, I used to read the interesting account of the opening of the new Brooklyn Bridge, the first to connect Brooklyn with New York. This year - this very month of May, they are commemorating the fiftieth anniversary of that Bridge on a lavish scale and I am also commemorating the fiftieth anniversary of the completion of the record of my struggle, in my own humble way. As the fates would have it, there is some sort of similarity between the two events, happening about the same time. The Brooklyn Bridge was the first gigantic engineering enterprise of its kind and met many obstacles, but it succeeded in bringing Brooklyn so close to New York that it became part of the great metropolis.
The success of my work as a pioneer in foreign lands was much to be doubted. There have been many instances of people in poor circumstances rising to a position in the world through hard work. But my task was a self-imposed one. I refused financial help cheerfully offered to me, so people thought I would soon come to my senses, when I met hard times.
In spite of handicaps I have succeeded in partly bridging the vast gulf between the East and the West through my work as a pioneer inventor and scientist of India, and I am very happy to be established in this, my dream land, America.
Born in Bombay on the 29th of April, 1867, at 4:36 A.M., I am in my sixty-seventh year. I am thankful to Providence for having kept me in sound health, for having given me the courage to stick to my early resolution to fight my way to success in three continents and for having preserved my life while crossing the submarine-infested Atlantic three times during the world war. On one such occasion, I am grateful to say, in 1918, Providence miraculously saved my life and that of my wife and children when our steamer in crossing the Atlantic barely eluded the torpedo fired from a German submarine. We landed safely at New York on July 4th, America’s Day of Independence.
I am also thankful to my friends in India, in England, in America and elsewhere, for their kind help and cooperation toward the fulfillment of my pioneer mission.
Sincerely yours, SUNKAR A. BISEY

CONGRATULATIONS FROM THE SCIENTIFIC AMERICAN 24 West 40th Street, New York City
Dr. S. A. Bisey Box 288, Grand Central Station New York City
Dear Dr. Bisey:
We offer you our sincerest congratulations that you have at last “arrived” after so long and intense struggles. That the Scientific American has been such an aid to you is not for the present staff to be proud of, but it is one of the heritages which we of the present generation feel most keenly as an urge to maintain the same high standing the magazine has always held in the past.
After your work you are indeed fortunate that you can enjoy the things you desire.
Cordially yours, L. S. TREADWELL, Vice-President [h-enc]

LOTUS PHILOSOPHY OF LIFE
Leading to an Universal Religion of Truth, Reason and Understanding
By Sunkar A. Bisey
“There is nothing higher, more precious or pious than Knowledge.” - Bhagavid-Gita.
“Ye shall know the Truth and Truth shall make thee free.”
It is truly said that knowledge is power and truth opens the gateway to freedom. During the last half century our store of knowledge has greatly been enriched by the enormous strides made by electricity, radio, chemistry, spiritism and other sciences, the rapid spread of education among the masses and backward classes, the easy intercourse and and exchange of views among all the nations of the world, equality of rights granted to women, freedom of speech and thought on religious and social subjects and their bearings on the scientific discoveries in various parts of the world.
The power gained through such knowledge has set even the orthodox people to take a broader, more enlightened and charitable view of the teachings of their own as well as other religions of the world. The blind faith in believing the teachings of the priests and ministers and their explanation or version of the deeper meaning of the mystical writings of their respective religions or philosophies, is fast dying away and every religion is slowly but steadily losing its hold even on orthodox people.
There are six principal religions of the world. Three in the Eastern Hemisphere, namely - the vedants and Hindu religion; Buddhist and Confucius religion, and in the Western Hemisphere the Mose or Jewish religion, the Christian and the Mohammedan religion. The Fatherhood of God and brotherhood of mankind, universal love, peace, justice, faith and tolerance were the fundamental principles and cherished ideals of the above named principal religions as they came originally from the same fountain source. Although thousands of years have passed since their foundation, their teachings have failed to get the desired deep rooting in the minds of people and owing to their constant fighting with each other on religious, social and political matters, there is more money and energy spent in the world today on destructive and warlike measures than constructive or uplifting ones; consequently, several nations are at war today and preparing for more wars.
The great World War is over, but as it was principally fought among the Christian nations it gave a very rude shock to the cherished Christian ideals of “Love thy neighbor” and “Thou shalt not kill” and consequently it has set in motion another war in the thinking minds as to the truth and value of such a religion. During the World War regiments received the blessings in the churches to go to the war to destroy the enemy - Christians! Several priests and ministers went to the battle fields with the Bible in one hand and a gun in the other and made a mockery of Christ’s Ideals. It is the priesthood that thus degenerated the true Christ’s religion and His cherished principles by falling a prey to the capitalists’ offering of gold. Like the Christian religion, other religions also become more or less degenerate and most of the people lose faith in them. It is, therefore, no wonder that earnest thinkers and even some broadminded priests and ministers of all religions all over the world, are sincerely endeavoring to find a way to unite all the principal religions of the world into one universal religion to oppose the onward march of atheism by unmasking the eternal truth underlying all the religions and arriving at a common basis of understanding that will appeal to common sense, stand to reason and bring real peace and happiness to the world. Believing that any attempt made in that direction would be welcomed; I am emboldened to place my philosophical views before free thinkers and earnest seekers after the eternal Truth.
One of the vital problems of today is the finding of a religion that will fit in with the age of reason which is challenging the old age of faith.
Any philosophy or religion if destined to be universal and readily acceptable must be based on scientific truth, must appeal to common sense, and must be free from any dogmas. To do a thing because you are told or taught to do so or because others do it, is to do it mechanically with a hesitating and fettered mind, but to do it because it appeals to your common sense or because you know why you are doing it, is to do the same thing intelligently with a free mind. The main object of my philosophy is to tell you in a simple way what you should do and why you should do it to enlighten your soul and achieve the salvation which is after all the main aim of all the religions and to explain to you how the laws of karma, destiny, re-incarnation and duty work out; why some religions differ from others on certain points and how they were all necessary for the progress of humanity at different stages of our evolution, and what really happens after death.
THE NEW ERA
About a couple of centuries ago the whole world was ruled by kings and despots claiming Divine authority. Gradually their despotism began to decline and at present many nations are ruled by representatives of the people and within a few years the whole world will have republican governments where the ruling power will belong to the people. Thus despotism will be replaced by true democracy, men and women will have equal rights, and everybody will fully enjoy personal liberty of thought and action. This changing condition will be brought about by the liberal and free education and scientific knowledge gained by the masses and their gradual realization of the eternal truth that is opening the gateway to freedom. Our old theories and mistakes or misconstrued ideas about the Hell Fire and the actual conditions in the Spirit land, have undergone a great change due to the valuable knowledge gained through the daring research work carried on by several eminent scientists all over the world during recent years. The world is now looking forward to an universal religion of democracy and deed and not of dogmas and deceit.
THE NEW RACE
The generation about sixty to seventy years ago showed signs is dissatisfaction towards the orthodox religions and their dogmas, but not being strong enough to openly bolt away from their elders and their orthodox views, it outwardly remained submissive while inwardly its mind was prepared for drastic reforms and consequently gave birth to the present generation now about thirty-five to forty years old, which is openly revolting from the established church, religion, social customs and conventions. This generation again in its turn and with a mind less fettered and more prepared for revolutionary reforms, has been bringing into the world a new or free race, commencing about one year after the breaking of the World War, which in turn will be the parents of the so-called sixth race. Young children belonging to this free race and now about sixteen to eighteen years of age are far more intelligent and inquisitive than their parents at similar age and require to be satisfied with sound explanation rather than blind faith. In the World war, - first of its kind in the human history, those that lost their lives, realized on their awakening in the spirit world, that they were misled by false religious beliefs and dogmas and were merely made tools or fodder for guns by the cunning, power, greedy capitalists under the pretense of patriotism. So with the spirit of revolt against such things and desiring to help humanity with the Divine knowledge, many of them re-incarnated in this world to form the new free race. Any new philosophy and religion therefore has to deal with the present and more particularly with the coming generation, and nothing would satisfy them unless it has some scientific backing, and appeal to its common sense and intelligent understanding, and it must also fit in with the new era. Mere blind faith will not succeed. The time has arrived for a new Messiah to bring to the world a common sense, democratic, liberal, scientific, intelligent and matter-of-fact philosophy and religion free from dogmas, deceit and Hell bogey.
This is the age of reason which is the highest product of our evolution. Many scientific men turn agnostic to the belief in God because He does not measure to their yardstick. They forget one thing, however, that they can measure physical things with physical means, but Divine and abstract things must be measured with a mind clear, unbiased and impartial. It is necessary to use a powerful microscope to see the millions of microbes in a drop of water that are invisible to the naked eye, and so to know the reality of the Divine knowledge one must concentrate with a clear mind in deep meditation which acts like a microscope.
Fifty years of my life I have devoted to scientific research, but the more I carry on my scientific research, but the more I carry on my scientific work I become convinced in the reality of a loving God and His Divine wisdom and the chief sources of my knowledge is in deep meditation on Divine things. With a pure mind and desire to know the truth to benefit humanity, answers to my prayers are oftentimes given to me during meditation or psychic dreaming. When I made up my mind to write my thoughts on philosophy I also made up my mind to tell the world the “truth” according to the light shown to me, without any hesitation or fear of contradiction or even ridicule.
The Hindu Yogis, thousands of years ago, described this country as the AMER-LOKA (Everlasting and Blessed Land). America is truly a melting pot of all races and religions and blessed with scores of broadminded philanthropists who have cheerfully and liberally been helping worthy and charitable institutions, and undertakings with the noble objects of benefitting humanity and increasing its welfare.
My sixteen years stay in this country and close association with people engaged in different industrial and commercial pursuits has convinced me that compared to the European countries this country is very materialistic, and perhaps my fate has brought me here from England to publish my philosophy in this materialistic country to help spiritual awakening. I hope my frank and common sense philosophy will prepare the ground for the coming Messiah to bring the Kingdom of Heaven on earth.
ADAPTING THE SPIRITUAL THOUGHT OF THE EAST TO THE WESTERN MIND
They say, “East is east and west is west.” The east takes one viewpoint of life and the west takes another viewpoint of life. Suppose there is a gold mine, - two gold mines, one in the east and one in the west. The miners work all day digging gold. Hard work. The eastern man says to himself, “well, I have worked the whole day, but my luck wasn’t to find the gold; perhaps I will find it tomorrow.” The western man says, “Well, I have looked and haven’t found any gold; what’s the use?” The eastern man in happy and contented. The eastern man’s philosophy is that he is in the world just for a little while. This is a prison life. You have come here for a certain destiny; certain purpose, to learn a good lesson and find out your purpose in life. After that is accomplished you leave the world and go to the spirit world.
When I was young, about 21 or 22 years of age, in India, I came in contact with a Yogi who took a kindly interest in me - took a fancy to me, and I became his disciple. The Yogis do not take any money. They expect devotion and sincerity from the disciple. I was prepared to do that and I was accepted. For six or seven years I worked under him in doing my daily work or anything of the kind, how to concentrate the mind, how to meditate, and those kinds of things. I completed that training. Then in 1896 the bubonic plague broke out in Bombay, my home town. It was a very infectious, contagious disease, so terrible and so contagious that even parents would leave their children affected by the plague and run away for the sake of their lives; that has actually happened. So when the plague broke out, I was in Bombay. The people did not know what to do. You would find hardly anybody in the town either night or day. Then my Yogi friend told me, “Here boy, here is one challenge to prove to the public the power of faith in yourself, the power of mind over body. Go and work with those plague-stricken people.” I worked with the plague for two and a half years every day, six or seven hours every day, in hospitals, in camps, in close contact with plague-stricken patients - did not take any medicine, did not have any inoculation. My life was considered in the danger zone. My faith in that science, Yogi Philosophy, made my mind confident that I was doing God’s work, doing my duty as a citizen of Bombay with- out receiving any money and so no harm shall come to me. For two and a half years I did not take the plague, which was very catching and dangerous. Why? Because I had confidence in myself and concentration, meditation and prayer. Then you are safe, no disease can come to you, no matter how dangerous. In 1899 I left the plague work and went to England as the pioneer inventor and scientist of India.
Now, you will ask me how to adapt the eastern methods to western minds. It is hard because the western mind is trained in a different way, in a materialistic way. You are taught that the “Lamb of God has cleansed you from all sin.” It has given to the western mind an easy pardoning of sins. The eastern mind says, “But you are responsible for your deeds and no one can save you but your own redemption and recompenses.” The eastern mind is careful because no one is going to die for his sins. When these truths are not given you at an early age, it is different. Therefore, it is very difficult to get to these points. How to adapt eastern mind to western mind? Teach young children the art of breathing - another thing the western mind should do is meditate. The art of breathing and meditation. To illustrate: If a big bass drum is being beaten at the same time a violin is being played softly, you hear the drum, but the music is drowned out by the noise of the drum. Both are all right in their place. So it is with the inner voice. You cannot hear it unless all else is stilled. Practise meditating ten minutes daily - go in secret where you are not disturbed, quietly try to hear the very faint inner voice. When you begin to hear the inner voice, and become more and more spiritualized, then you forget material things.
Consider Mahatma Ghandi - a frail man, not weighing ninety pounds. The secret of his powers lies in the fact that he hears the inner voice of conscience. He is sixty-four years old. I am sixty-seven. He is an old man, hardly much vitality left. When Ghandi decided to go on his twenty-one day fast, I told my American friends one thing, “If you will look at the reports two or three days before Mahatma Ghandi went into the fast you will find that he did not go into the fast of his own volition. The inner voice told him to go into the fast for his people. He could not refuse. He is not doing anything off-hand, but following the inner voice of God and consequently he is sure to come out of the fast triumphantly.” And so he did!
I don’t think the western mind believes very much in the law of destiny and duty. Many people think that as you go to college and take a degree you are assured of a successful life. Why are there so few successes? Law of karma. The western people should learn that there are certain things which are predestined and you are to go through those things whether you like it or whether you don’t like it, but it is your duty to do the thing to the best of your ability. The western mind has to learn that philosophy of karma - that there is a previous life, a present life, and a future life.
Suppose you have about $5000 and you want to take a trip from here to California. You go to a tourist agent and ask him, “Well, I want to take a trip to California. I want the trip to last one year and to visit these different places.” He presents you with a program. You go to Washington for two or three days, go to Chicago and stay there for three weeks, and then you start on your further journey. You can’t change this course, which is similar to destiny. But you have a certain freedom. We should not think that we are perfectly helpless. Here is the plan of destiny: Begin from here. Go to Washington - three days in Washington, do such and such things at Washington; that is also in the plan. But how to do those things, how to spend the time, how to mix with people, is up to you. That has nothing to do with the plan. There is one scope for your freedom of action.
An actor may be presenting the part of a king; another actor may be presenting the part of a page boy, but that page boy can do his part with more alacrity than the man who plays the part of the king. It isn’t the part - it is how you play it that matters. That is the freedom that you have. Supposing that I spend three days in Washington. Maybe I will do some nasty things. How to do it is up to me. That is my duty. How you do the duty is building the karma for the next incarnation.
The western mind has to learn that there is such a thing as conscience. Conscience never goes wrong; conscience never deceives us. You say something tells you you shouldn’t do such a thing, or that such a thing is wrong, or you have a “hunch”. What is that something or “hunch”? It is your conscience. The inner voice of conscience, not outside of you, but inside. If you will learn to hear the inner voice of conscience, you will never do wrong. If your conscience tells you such and such a thing is right, no matter what others think, that is right. It is your own conscience that condemns or condones you. The western mind has yet to learn the effect of conscience. What is conscience? That is also another subject that would take me a couple of hours to dwell upon. ADVERSITY - remember one thing, and I am telling you from my own experience. I have been away from India for the last 37 years, have travelled in India, England and America. I have gone through plenty of uphill work and plenty of difficulties. If any unfortunate difficulties come to me, I say, “God, you have sent this thing for my good. So I am not going to curse You for it. Yes, there is something You want me to learn from it.” You begin to see that if that thing had not happened, you never would have gotten a blessing. Every difficulty I have gone through I have gotten better. It was a blessing in disguise. Never go backward. I saw the reality of the thing - God’s way of doing it.
Consider the new age. This is called the Aquarian age, which will be in full effect from the year 1975. In that age the new race is coming and that we call the 6th race. The children belonging to that race will be very inquisitive. These children are now about two years old. You will find those children very, very bright - brighter than their parents.
Now, why is it that people feared God all these centuries, and now they don’t fear Him? Supposing you have a son three or four years old. He isn’t afraid of anything. When he grows up, say eight years old to about fourteen years old, he is taught to obey you and fear punishment for disobeying you. When the children are eighteen years of age they don’t fear their parents. They begin to love their parents. (We are eighteen years old, the next race will be grown up - twenty-one, in the light of spiritual evolution.) The fear of God - just waiting to catch you or punish you appeals to the child mind. Do not fear God, but LOVE God. Fear conscience. Do not fear Death, but fear conscience. The next race, the 6th race, is coming on earth and will not be fooled. It will be a matter-of-fact race. It will not believe in blind faith, but in scientific facts and demand a new religion of love, freedom from dogmas and misunderstanding.
I think now I will say a few things about Dr. Cayce’s work. I have known Dr. Cayce and his work for about two years. I have been an investigator and a scientist for the past 45 years, and have knowledge of the tricks and optical illusions used by fake mediums. For thirty years I made a certain observation - with that knowledge I have investigated every psychic phenomena that came under my observation, and with that investigating mind I have watched Mr. Cayce, and I am convinced that he is possessed with that peculiar power which I call ‘self-hypnosis’. His is the first case that has come into my investigation, and he is O.K. When I say that, my name is at stake. I am making a public declaration. People may call me crazy, so you have the privilege right here and now. I am doing my part, my duty, that is all.
I believe the time will come when the east and west will not be separate. “East is east and west is west,” but when united they stand for the best!

BISEY RESEARCH LABORATORY Established 1921 Box 288, Grand Central Annex New York City
Mr. Hugh L. Cayce, Virginia Beach, Virginia
My dear Mr. Cayce:
I received your letter of the 28th of June last, and was very glad to know that my various talks and lectures on psychic and philosophic subjects were liked by the people there. I did what I could to help the cause which certainly deserves every encouragement and assistance.
Regarding the manuscript of my work on philosophy, if you like you may keep the papers with you for a month or so and read some of the chapters at your weekly meetings at Norfolk or Virginia Beach and have some discussions. I will certainly be interested to know the comments and criticisms without any reserve because I would like to know my shortcomings and also to know what part is not quite clear to understand. This may give me an opportunity to improve upon it.
Thank you very much for all your kind wishes, which myself and wife very greatly appreciate. My wife liked Virginia Beach so much that she is contemplating coming there for a couple of weeks early in September and in that event I may be able to come there for a few days.
I enclose herewith a check for $15 to cover my membership fee and also for the reading I had while I was there.
With our kind regards to all of your family and to Gladys & Mildred Davis, from Mrs. Bisey and myself, I am,
Yours cordially, [signed] S. A. Bisey.
R24. 7/10/33 EC’s ltr. to Dr. Bisey:
My dear Dr. Bisey:-
Yours of the 6th, with enclosure for the Association, was received, for which please accept our sincerest thanks. This is being answered by me, as Hugh Lynn has left with a group of Boy Scouts for Chicago.
We certainly did enjoy having you and Mrs. Bisey here, and did appreciate everything you did and have done in behalf of the Association work. I feel very sure from some of the letters we have received that there will be quite a number of individuals in New York who would like to form a group for a study of the phenomena in one way or another. And you can be of a great deal of assistance in this direction. I do not know that it would be plausible or practical to attempt forming any such groups during the summer months, but I am sure that by the first or middle of September we should begin to get them together. That will give you the opportunity to work out many situations for individuals, not only being helpful to them but also an aid to you in furthering some of your ideas.
I just spoke to Miss Mildred about presenting your manuscript to the group. So far I have not gone over this myself. However, inasmuch as Hugh Lynn took the car with him, we are prevented from attending the regular Monday night meetings. We will try to do this, though, just as early as possible, and - of course - will be glad to give you the comments. I will ask Mildred to make notations both for and against whatever may be said at such meetings.
I’m certainly glad to know that Mrs. Bisey enjoyed the Beach, and we hope she will follow out the contemplated visit in early September, for we have found that September and October are the most beautiful months and seasons here of the whole year. Of course, after Labor Day (which I believe this time is the 4th) the prices usually are from ten to twenty-five percent less than the regular summer rates. This makes it very satisfactory for most people, especially those who are not desirous of very large crowds. Please assure her that should she come we will be very happy to have her come in at any time, for we all enjoyed knowing her very much.
Thanking you again for your contribution to our work, both of yourself and your means, assuring you of our appreciation, with all good wishes to you, Mrs. Bisey and family from all here, I am
Sincerely, [EC] EC:GD

Miss [275] … Ave., …, N.Y.
Continued use of Atomidine occasionally, small quantities four or five days each month; then rest nearly a month, calling a month the twenty-eight days, see?
Mrs. [411] (by her sister, Mrs. […], … Ave., …, Canada.)
To stimulate glands and create proper reaction for further treatment, take Atomidine as follows: Five minims three times each day for five days. Then rest a period of two days. Then begin with three minims three times each day, raising the quantity one minim each day until ten minims are being taken three times a day. Then we would reduce the dose in the same manner until only one minim is being given three times each day. Then rest for a period of ten days. At that time we would give further instructions.
(Above taken in conjunction with sinusoidal treatments once a week.)
Miss [272] …, So., …, Ala.
Continued use of Atomidine, internally and as douche; to clarify blood stream and stimulate glandular activities.

Atomidine to be taken internally, 1 minim each day, increasing 1 drop every other day until 10 drops; then discontinue 3 to 5 days, then begin over again at 1 drop, etc. (For gland condition - see individual reading for details.)
Dr. Bisey, could you send us some free samples of Atomidine? We are always needing some, and wanting it, but we have no money. The only help we can give at present is in recommending it to others, which we are doing whenever possible.
Kind regards to you all.

BISEY RESEARCH LABORATORY Established 1921 Box 288, Grand Central Annex New York City
Dr. Edgar Cayce, Virginia Beach, Virginia
Dear Dr. Cayce;
I received your letter and am glad to know that the Powers are recommending ATOMIDINE to various patients thru your readings and the patients are benefitted. As asked by you I have the pleasure of sending you some sample bottles of ATOMIDINE per separate post.
On the 6th. inst. I entered into a new agreement with Mr. [1734] by which he will be entitled to sell my medical preparation under the name BESLIN exclusively for all external applications. I have retained the full ownership and control of the product and Trade-Mark ATOMIDINE to be used exclusively for internal use, mouth diseases and other complaints. I am receiving from Mr. [1734] only half the amount of my former Royalty and the other half I must now earn by selling ATOMIDINE solely thru my efforts. I am therefore trying my best to increase the sale of ATOMIDINE and I hope that a large circle of my friends including your good self will help me in this direction. ATOMIDINE will be sold to the Doctors and the Public for
1.00 retail for a two ounce package as before. I wish to help you and your work and I will be glad to send you one or two dozen bottles of ATOMIDINE on consignment at 50 cents each, that is, very much less than the wholesale prices. You may sell it for1.00 or even $1.25 as some druggists do that will give you a little profit and also help me out. You may pay for the goods when the stock is sold. Please let me know whether the idea appeals to you and if it does I will send you the goods.Last Saturday and the Saturday before I attended the meetings which Mr. Ladd called for arranging a programme about your coming visit to this city. We are going to meet again next Saturday and I hope by then the plans will be completed and we will have the pleasure of having you here once again.
Thank you very much for sending me information about the treatment of ATOMIDINE suggested thru your readings to several people. I will keep them on my record.
With kind regards and best wishes,
Yours sincerely, [signed] Dr. S. A. Bisey.
R30. 10/19/33 EC’s ltr. to Dr. Bisey:
Dear Dr. Bisey:-
I was very glad to hear from you. Ever since you left the Beach I have been wondering about you, and had intended writing, but for some reason we just haven’t gotten to it.
With a great deal of interest I note what you say as to your new agreement with Mr. [1734] regarding the Beslin, also regarding your handling and controlling Atomidine. I assure you we will be very glad to help wherever it is possible.
We would be very glad for you to send us a dozen bottles on consignment, and we will see what arrangements we can make about same here. We would like to report on this every thirty days or oftener, if you desire, and remit for what we have sold. We certainly thank you for the samples you have sent us.
Dr. Bisey, I appreciate very much the interest you have manifested by attending the meetings Mr. Ladd has called. I hope you will be there at the next meeting. And I appreciate your report. I trust the trip may be arranged, and that we may be of some service to our fellow man in New York during the next few weeks.
Hoping to see you soon, and with all good wishes, and regards from each and every one to you and yours, I am
Sincerely, EC:GD

My dear Mr. [1734]-
We are desirous of keeping in touch once in a while with those whom we feel have had some interest in our undertaking. Of course, I do not want to burden you or induce you to be interested in something you have not found of interest in your experience. But we have had some very interesting meetings and associations with various groups there in New York and other places recently, that possibly have been of some unusual interest to those who ever think along psychic lines. I would like very much to hear from you, and to know how things are going with you. I understand from our friend Dr. Bisey that you are still carrying on with the Atomidine, and I’m hoping you are finding it very much worth while. We still find that the readings suggest the use of Atomidine for specific conditions, and I do not know of a single instance where it has not brought a wonderful report - where used in accordance with the reading suggestions - and there have been some very unusual cases, too.
We have had some meetings with one of the most noted English mediums also recently, and a comparison of readings [507-1 and 507-2] was made. This might be of interest to you. If you would like to see this report, we would be very glad to send it to you.
Anyway, we would be very glad to hear from you. And with kindest personal regards to you and yours, I am
Sincerely, [EC] EC:GD

DR. DESIDERIUS DE BESZEDITS, M.D. Coyuca de Catalan, Guerrero, Mexico
Atomidine Company, Mount Vernon, N.Y., U.S.A.
Gentlemen:
I am in receipt of your kind favor of the 11th. inst. (Air Mail Copy) for which I wish to thank you most sincerely.
As for the acidity of Atomidine that supposedly makes it inapplicable for injection purposes, it will not “hold water” in clinical practise as it is so stated in text books. About two weeks ago two horses and two dogs, all of them highly valued animals, got sick with a disease we could not diagnose; they started trembling, walked slowly with a staggering gait until they fell unable to stand up without help. I took two drops of your concentrated solution of Atomidine to 10 cc of water then mixed it with equal quantity of 2% solution of hydrochloric acid prepared in seawater, of this solution at 10 A.M. I have injected 5 cc into the first horse into a large vein protruding all along the left hand side of the belly. In about two hours the animal seemed to recuperate but by the night it seemed very sick again, had fallen and stretched out and was given up as dead. While in this position I injected (at midnight) 10 cc of the same solution intramuscular, into the inside surface of one of its hind legs. At about 6 A.M. next morning we found the horse eating corn. The second horse recovered in the same manner after three injections of Atomidine solution without hydrochloric sol. So did the dogs. I believe these animals either had eaten something poisonous or were bitten by a scorpion or by our “tarantula” spider. A few days after I injected 2 cc of the same solution into a woman having epileptic-like fits; she at once quieted down, slept for an hour or so and awoke well.
In several hyperacidity cases it gives prompt relief; I have tried it (5 drops in half a glass of water) on my own self, it gave instant relief. Just imagine the thousands of tons of “Bicarbonate de Sodio” that could be substituted by this Atomidine sol.
I have a case of very bad gastric ulcer; 10 drops of Atomidine by mouth three times per day and two high enemas per week (20 drops of the sol. in 2 liters of warm water) had worked wonders; for the man could not leave his bed, where he spent most of the day crouching in very sharp pains during most of the day during three weeks. In two weeks time I also injected intramuscularly four times 2 cc of the sol. and the last time I saw him he was completely free of pains, sitting making baskets in front of his hut.
About 95% of my patients are charity patients I have a great field to try out Atomidine. As soon as I return home I will find out in my laboratory just what chemical changes or reaction happens when Atomidine comes in contract with the gastric juice, or with the mucous lining. Can you tell me something on this point? And also what happens (chemical) when it comes into contract with pus?
50 drops of Atomidine in water 3 times a day stopped persistent coughing of long standing.
I hope your shipment reaches me soon so I can start it with my “illustrious” patient here and thanking you again for the shipment, I beg to remain,
Yours very truly, [signed] Dr. Desiderius de Beszedits

ATOMIDINE COMPANY 64 East Sydney Avenue Mount Vernon, N.Y.
Miss Gladys Davis, Secretary to Edgar Cayce of the ASS’N FOR RESEARCH & ENLIGHTENMENT, INC. Virginia Beach, Virginia
Dear Miss Davis:
I have your letter of the 2nd. inst. and was indeed very glad to hear from you. Thank you very much for sending the literature to several friends as mentioned in your letter and hope it will lead to some business to our mutual benefit. I would certainly be pleased to send you goods on consignment and as requested I am sending per separate post one doz. packages of ATOMIDINE. ATOMIDINE is also put up in ointment form in very attractive one ounce jars retailing at 50 cents and I will be glad to supply you with these on the same terms should you be in a position to handle same.
I received a circular regarding the Home Health Remedies Co. and was interested in same. I note that they use ATOMIDINE in your product IPSAB. Personally I am delighted with it but I do not consider it as advisable to combine ATOMIDINE with anything else. ATOMIDINE as it liberates ATOMIC iodine does not readily combine with other substances.
Lately I have been making good progress in advertising ATOMIDINE for malaria in the Southern States. Last June and July about 1,100 doctors were supplied and about 200 have responded and are using ATOMIDINE for malaria with outstanding success as evidenced by their reports.
Your Health Home Co. might try to sell ATOMIDINE for malaria in your State as malaria is very prevalent there.
Last year September when Mr. Cayce was in N.Y. in one of his readings [358-8] he advised me to introduce ATOMIDINE in the states of Louisiana and he mentioned the name of some province or town which I cannot make out and find in the post office directory, will you kindly refer back to that reading and see whether you could get further information about the correct name and let me know at your early convenience? It might help in my present propaganda work.
I was so sorry I could not accept the position of a trustee in your association for reasons stated before, however, you may depend upon my doing anything I possibly can to help the good cause. If at any time there are any important subjects on which the Association desires my advice or opinion you may write to me regarding same without any hesitation and I would be glad to let you know what inspirations come to me.
I would like to urge you to give your special attention to the use of ATOMIDINE for feminine hygiene as it can be safely said there is no other preparation on the market that is so ideally suited for this purpose. ATOMIDINE is a most powerful germicide yet harmless to the most delicate tissues and membranes of the body. I feel sure that your efforts in this direction will lead to a very profitable business for yourself and besides you will have the satisfaction of knowing that you are rendering a real service to your sex. For this purpose 80 drops of ATOMIDINE are added to one quart of warm water. Should you be interested in this particular application of ATOMIDINE I will gladly send more detailed information as to its use in a general way or for the treatment of Leucorrhea and vaginal discharges.
I am enclosing a copy of a report from Dr. Desiderius de Beszedits [see Par. R38 above] a prominent and influential physician of Mexico, who is generally interested in ATOMIDINE and is doing considerable research work in the treatment of various diseases including leprosy.
With kindest regards to all, Sincerely yours, [signed] S. A. Bisey
