GC: You will have before you the body and enquiring mind of [1734], his associates and associations, and investments, and especially the Beryllium Corporation of America and Laboratoire Durveaux. You will answer the questions on this and other matters.
-
EC: Yes, we have the body, the enquiring mind, [1734], and those associations and relations as respecting the affairs and business relations of this body. Ready for questions.
-
(Q) Is the Beryllium Corporation associated with the proper organization that will be able to develop this metal for commercial purposes? (A) The association is capable of developing same for commercial purposes. As we find, these will be able to do so, and will develop same.
-
(Q) For what application will this metal first be used? (A) That in a combination with metals that are in the same line with same; that is, such as have an affinity for same, see?
-
(Q) Will it be possible to work pure Beryllium? (A) To make for commercial usage would be better to work same with its affinities, both above and below in the scale of metals, and not in its pure form.
-
(Q) What alloy shall we use, in order to be able to successfully work this metal? (A) That affinity below and above this metal.
-
(Q) Can you give the exact formula? (A) This would be dependent upon the USAGE for which this is to be made. While there is a partial affinity with the Beryllium and that of the alloy in ALUMINUM, these - in their ratio, then - would be one to eighty; and in that BELOW same would be one to ten - see?
-
(Q) What application would you suggest for an alloy? (A) These will, of necessity, be cored WITH same in making an alloy, see?
-
(Q) Just what is meant? (A) Just what is SAID is meant! Cored, being the manner in which, in the heating, the combinations be made, see?
-
(Q) Describe the proper method to alloy these metals? (A) In taking that one below, first, see - in the scale of table of metals - we have those that will, with its affinity, make for a stronger textile in working and in strength. These would be cored from the raw state in which such is found, in the core manner - or in the BURNING of same. Then the refuel, or the REFUSE of same taken off - then the combination becomes, then, that which may be used in THIS class. In the one that is ABOVE same, this would require that method through which the passage of same would be termed the ARSENIC method; this requiring that these be taken FROM the refuel or refuse before there were the combining of same. These would be the manners in which this may be combined. In this manner, this may be used with that in the tungsten variety of products, or in those requiring the HEAT for the transmission OF heat. In this form, this would be the most valuable.
-
(Q) Describe the proper method to work these alloys? (A) These will require, when these are made into the various metals that come from the alloying of same, the various manners of experimentation through which same goes, under the various effect of heat, the various effect of electrical magnetation, and all the various forms of testing for the various ELEMENTS with which it combines for commercial use. This will require the testing method.
-
(Q) How many metals would have to be alloyed? One or two, or more? (A) In the first, as was given, this would require ONLY the two. In the second, would require those of three - and this makes for the LIGHT metal that may be used in construction, and IN MANY forms where steel has been used. Then, these may be combined WITH that THROUGH the arsenic method, as to where they may be used for the transmission - as in those where tungstens have FORMERLY been used. This production MAKING that which would be a more COMMERCIAL VALUE, and at less cost.
-
(Q) Can an alloy of magnesium and Beryllium be made that has commercial possibilities? If so, how can it be accomplished. (A) These flake too much, but they may be combined in magnesium - that make for a strengthening in those that are OF the same variety, but making for a stronger textile in the combination; for the VIBRATIONS of metals make for their combination, whether they be of the pure low vibration or those of the HIGHER vibration, that carry even those that are reached IN the radio or radium ACTIVITY OF such metals. As seen in the combination in magnesium, this forms too low a vibration for that found in the Beryllium. This prevents, then, this combination - without the use of OTHERS, becoming of such COMMERCIAL value. While those that would be combined WITH those as come from the alloy used with the affinity just ABOVE, make for a more commercial, usable, product - see?
-
(Q) Can you give the exact location where sufficient Beryl deposits can be found for the most economical and commercial production? (A) Well, this would require a great deal of seeking out. There are, as has been seen and known for some time, various points where there are PARTIALLY seen products that may be used in this connection. These have an affinity in those, especially, where the ignetious formations in the geological survey would show. Now, in testing these - from the various positions of same, as related to THIS particular country - these are found to only show in six or SEVEN points, in any great quantity. While those in the Ural Range, and in the Siberian country, show greater quantities, on account of the PARTICULAR ACTIVITIES as were seen, and the SAME point shows in the southern Andes Range, or near that border line between the Chilean and the Peruvian. THESE are the greater points, opposite - as is seen - in their activity in the forces of nature as combined with the geological position of the various effects as were created by the various changes as has taken place in the earth’s surface. In those points, then, where the least CHANGE has taken place will be found the greater deposits of these beryl.
-
(Q) Is any large deposit in Texas? (A) These are seen in the Llano uplift.
-
(Q) Where are the other six points in this country? (A) Near Sitka (?), near that of the Black Foot Hills (?), and in the Adirondacks, and in that of Big Mountain in Carolina.
-
(Q) Where shall we start first plant for manufacture of Beryllium? (A) Near the deposits in the LLANO uplift.
-
(Q) Have we proper patent protection? (A) Proper patent protection. There will, necessarily, in the various developments, be those combinations reached that will be necessary to keep covered, as the changes are brought about.
-
(Q) Have we the proper method successfully developed ready to start manufacture? (A) There will necessarily be some minor changes. As a WHOLE, proper method is, and has been, outlined.
-
(Q) When should the body go to Detroit? (A) When the necessary demands are for the following up of those conditions already set in motion.
-
(Q) What is the proper way of melting the metals? (A) Through the double core and the arsenic method.
-
(Q) Is the marketing of the company’s product [Beslin? Atomidine?] in the proper hands at present? [Distributed by Laboratoire Durveaux?] (A) These are very good.
-
(Q) How can we increase sales through these channels? (A) By the increase of the various usages for the product.
-
(Q) Shall we give up this method of introduction, and go directly to the public in an extensive advertising campaign, using the present name of the product? (A) Not as yet. Keep the proper course at present. With the developments as go on, then the change in the method may be the most advantage to all. At present, we would keep the same manner.
-
(Q) For what particular purpose should this product be introduced to the public? (A) There are so many VARIOUS channels through which this may be presented to the public, for public consumption! These, as we find, should first be followed out along the lines as have ALREADY been set out for same. Then, as the various developments come, these may be set as for more definite usages.
-
(Q) What size package and at what price retailed? (A) This depends, of course, upon the manner in which this is to be PRESENTED to the public, and in the manner as has already been SET UP - this SHOULD be kept much in the same way as has already been presented, as to package and as to price.
-
(Q) Have we engaged the proper advertising agency? (A) These are good!
-
(Q) Should the campaign start in New York City, or a smaller city? (A) New York City would be the better. This would cost the most money, but the most returns will come from same!
-
(Q) How much money would said campaign require to assure success? (A) Two million dollars!
-
(Q) Will I have to advance all this money? (A) No.
-
(Q) Would you advise going ahead or dropping the whole matter? (A) It’s worth while! Why drop it?
-
(Q) Can our product be modified for intravenous use? (A) May be modified for same.
-
(Q) To whom should they go to get it modified? (A) This had best be developed farther along in the same lines as have already been outlined. There are MANY channels through which this may be changed, or the modifications may come for such usage. This may be applied through some of the research forces in such lines in Boston, or in New York, or in Detroit - EITHER of these would be, or offer, the right sort of a channel. Let’s carry it forward in its USAGES, as is already set out, FIRST - before such a division is made. This would prove a success, in the undertaking as is set forth. Let’s do that!
-
We are through for the present.

B1. 3/10/30 [1734]‘s letter to EC:
Mr. Edgar Cayce c/o The Association of National Investigators, Virginia Beach, Va.
Dear Mr. Cayce:
I beg to confirm arrangements made in my behalf by Mrs. [2541] for the 20th and 21st. [GD’s note: Mrs. [2541] was a close relative of Mr. [1734], either a sister or a first cousin.] Since making these appointments, I met Mr. [257] personally, and he interested me so greatly in your work, that I expressed a desire to come earlier, in order to obtain more appointments.
I trust that during my stay in Virginia, you can arrange to give me at least five or six appointments.
Looking forward to this privilege with a great deal of pleasure, I am
Sincerely yours, [1734]
B2. 3/12/30 Mr. [257]‘s letter to EC:
I just had a talk with Mr. [1734]. He tells me that his father left a very large Foundation in New York with millions of dollars to spend for the development of things worthwhile for humanity. They are interested in all kinds of investigation which will bring longer life and healthier conditions to humanity in general. He therefore is coming down to see you, to get as many readings as he possibly can, to find out where he fits in to our work and how he can make recommendations to the Foundation to help the work.
He informed me today that he thought the only weak part of our whole plan was that too little consideration was paid to you personally and too much to the other interests, so I therefore invited him ‘to be good to you’. Don’t laugh at me, but I really believe that this man will be your friend. Their home cost, to furnish, at least one-half million dollars. Their country estate possibly twice that. The man is retired from business and is only handling the investments of the estate and funds for the Foundation.
I am very happy for your sake and for one time at least, you will find questions without my name in it because I really believe that the Forces have found this man through me to you and your family. If that is accomplished, our twenty years will not have been in vain. I have a lot of other plans to discuss with you and I am hoping to be at the Beach on Thursday the 20th as I understand [900] will be there on the 22nd. If I can possibly get there during this coming week, I would like to come and spend the week with you. Keep me posted as to how you like the [1734] family. They certainly are lovely and I am sure you will enjoy knowing them both at the Beach and here.
B3. 3/19/30 EC’s letter to HLC:
Dear Hugh Lynn:-
We haven’t had a line from you since we were there. So busy? Or nothing to say, particularly?
I was notified of about an $8 overdraft this morning. You will see from the enclosed that this has been taken care of, and that you have a penny or two besides.
Hope you are keeping busy in the proper direction. Would like to know your reaction from the information gotten for Dr. Taylor. Dr. Brown was to be here - guess he is coming tonight, I don’t know. Mr. [1734] (the first one of the people who really represents a foundation fund) is here studying the work at this time. He brought his whole family
- his wife [1732], a daughter [1738] of about fifteen, a boy [1735] fourteen, and a little girl [1737] about ten - and a governess and a maid. We began with their readings yesterday afternoon, although they have been at the hotel almost a week already. They have had a physical for Mrs. […] and a life reading for the older girl. Of course, we will have to go through the whole family. Just what his reaction is, I can’t say. The nearest that I can even guess - when he first came, he told me that [257] had talked business to him, telling him how I had made money for other people, and he didn’t see why I hadn’t been able to make some for myself. Said he didn’t come as a skeptic, as he had been studying phenomena for thirty years or more, but that he had been looking for an organization that was making a scientific study of psychic phenomena - that, if we could show him that was what we had, he was ready to invest - that he represented a fund (which represents something like fifty millions, or two hundred thousand income every year). Let’s hope we may get a teeny weeny bit of it anyway, IF we measure up. If we don’t, we don’t want it.
I suppose Eckin has written you about his airplane ride, as he has been quite enthusiastic about it ever since he flew all over Virginia Beach with Gray [Salter] last Sunday morning.
Everything is strumming along in about the same line. Talked to Morton a few times. They will all be down this week end. There is a POSSIBILITY of Mr. Wyrick’s being down. Should he do so, I will wire you - and you COME!
They had a very nice little birthday dinner for me yesterday evening. Sister invited Mother and I, the Van Pattens’ and Lydic’s. Of course we had dinner at the hospital.
Tommy [House] is working at Benstock’s [Drug Store]. Seems to be doing very nicely there. Benstock’s a great fellow. His wife was down for the weekend, and stayed until yesterday. Mr. Janngen was here also. Of course, it’s this constant coming and going all the time. Well, don’t wait so long before letting us hear.
Much love, [EC]
