This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at his home on Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 3rd day of April, 1939, in accordance with request made by the mother - Mrs. [480], Associate Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc.

Time of Reading 11:25 A. M. Eastern Standard Time. …, Michigan.

1. GC: You will give the physical condition of this body at the present time, with suggestions for further corrective measures; answering the questions which have been submitted, as I ask them:

2. EC: Yes.

3. As we find, it is not so much the improper combination with the milk but rather the combination with other foods that causes the body to REBEL against the feeding time.

4. Here as we find, while orange juice is advisable in most cases, we would weaken or leave it off entirely in this case; and keep the right formula for the milk; and as we find there would be less spitting up.

5. It will be well for this body to be given and to RETAIN, as it were, a little Olive Oil each day; just a few drops will be most helpful for the body, - as would be, alternated with same, the Peanut Oil. It is well that there be kept this activity so that there may be the better reaction with the whole of the hepatic circulation. One to two drops should be sufficient each day, see? One day give the Olive Oil, the next day the Peanut Oil, and so on. These act with the assimilating system and are strengthening to the activity of liver AND kidneys, and thus will make for better conditions through the body.

6. Well that the Lime Water STILL be a part of the formula for the diet, or for the milk for the body.

7. Do these and, as we find, we may keep the better conditions for this body.

8. Only those combinations cause the disagreement with the digestive forces. With the Oil taken for two to three months, we should find then the citrus fruit juices combining much better with the gastric flow through the system.

9. Ready for questions.

10. (Q) Would you suggest any change in the milk formula? (A) As indicated, this had best be kept as it is at present, but NOT using the orange juice; rather taking the Oil as suggested.

11. (Q) How may he be broken from sucking his thumb? (A) Give him a pacifier or let him keep it as it is. Better a pacifier than the thumb, though, because this might eventually cause some deformity with the same, see?

12. (Q) Does sucking a pacifier cause any abnormal conditions? (A) Some hold that it causes adenoids. No. It does not cause other than a period when the will must act with the habits of the body.

13. (Q) Why does he not sleep through the night? (A) It’s an active mind in the one direction, and those disturbances of the assimilation in the other. These activities changed as indicated should make for better sleeping through the evening.

14. (Q) How may lower hepatic circulation be aided? (A) As just indicated, through the usage of Olive Oil and Peanut Oil; one to two drops each day, one day one, the next day the other.

15. (Q) Any other advice for this body? (A) These we would keep in these directions.

R1. 4/4/39 EC’s letter to [480]: “Was good to hear your voice again on the phone - do hope the suggestions for the young man help out - never was so anxious to see anyone scarcely as that boy - hope he won’t be grown up and voting before [I] get to see him - know he must be cute.

“How are you feeling, [480]? Mrs. [1100] was saying how fine you were looking - how is [633] and Mr. [619]? Give them both my best. All are pretty well here. Guess I am about the best grunter among the bunch - both boys were home last week - Edgar Evans for spring Vacation - left tho Sunday - and Hugh Lynn went back to N.Y. this morning on a little business - guess he will be back the first of next week.

“Let us hear from you. All send love to each of you.”

R2. 4/8/39 [480]‘s letter to EC: “I’ve run out of my own stationery so this will have to do.

“The baby’s [1788] reading came and also your kind letter - we eliminated the orange juice and added the lime water and started with the two kinds of oils. I notice a difference already, he has almost stopped spitting - it seemed cheese would come up two or three hours after eating. The next reading we have for him - I’d like to go over his entire diet in detail and also find out when egg should be added, our doctor wanted me to start him on it now - I think it’s too early, don’t you. What has been your experience with baby’s diets?

“I hope you are feeling better - what seems to be the trouble? Mrs. [1100] just doesn’t seem to be getting around to herself again, don’t you think this climate is bad for her?

“Please have Gladys write me how much I owe you - I’ve forgotten and I’d like to straighten it out because I know how much you need the cash and I don’t like to ask for readings unless I can pay for them at once.

“I am enclosing a picture of the baby taken about one month ago - he held his head up like that when he was four weeks old. We just love him - he is so good and loves to be played with. Certainly do wish you could see him - he doesn’t take to everyone but I’m sure he’d recognize a friend in you.

“Enclosed is a check for 15.00 - 5 of which to apply on anything I might owe.

“How is the record room coming?

“Love from us here to you all. Happy Easter!”

R3. 4/10/39 EC’s letter to [480]: “Thank you very much for yours of last Saturday - my oh my that is the sweetest looking boy nearly ever saw - just made us all crazy to see him. Oh he looks just like you, [480] - my, sure would love to see him, don’t wonder that you and [633] are crazy about him - what does Mr. [619] have to say about him, [480] - am sure he must be very fond of him.

“Mighty glad to note you think he is responding to the suggestions and is keeping his food better - for of course he has to keep it for him to do him very much good - oh there are a lot of babies over the country and through the years that have had pretty nice diets arranged for them by the readings - and most of them have done pretty well. What is your nickname for the baby - Gertrude and Miss Gladys both knew who he was without my telling them. My how we would like to see him.

“I seem to have just one cold after another - and guess have been going a bit too heavy with work - last week was the greatest number of readings have ever taken in one week - am just tired I guess - but had rather wear out than rust out - if am doing any good and must be from the nice things people say to me.

“Am sure it is the climate that is against Mr. [470] and Mrs. [1100] both - know they like it there but will be glad when they are changed again on that account.”

“How much you owe you do not owe one penny - you have a clean sheet - thank you. Would that everyone was like that - but am glad to try and help at all times.

“Had a funny one the other day, [480] - think you will appreciate this - someone here at the Beach [Mrs. [1857]] phoned me that their sister [Miss [1849]] was here from N.Y. and that she had a letter of introduction from a Dr. in N.Y. and wished to come talk with me - I not knowing the name told them to come ahead - they did and when they came in the lady [1849] looked as if she might have just stepped out of Paris

• she told me she had been abroad for the last three years and in Paris, France - heard of me - so when she came back she hunted up someone in N.Y. who knew me - her name [1849] well I looked her over a bit and her sister [1857] who was with her - and then reminded them that I had known them since they were tiny girls about 12 - 14 - Pete and Bill I used to call them - and it was them. Am afraid she was disappointed for she expected to find some renowned person - but said she wished she had known it while abroad. Very lovely girls - yes I knew them as the girls - they have both been married but funny things do happen.

“Well hope that boy would recognize us - am sure tho he would

• give him a good little squeeze for me - as well as the rest here - all send love and regards to each of you.

“H. L. is back in N.Y. again - be there for few weeks I guess

• E. E. should get through school in June.”
