This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at his home on Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 17th day of July, 1939, in accordance with request made by the father - Mr. [1797], Associate Member of the Association for Research & Enlightenment, Inc.

Time of Reading 11:35 to 11:40 A. M. Eastern Standard Time. …, Mass.

1. GC: You will give the physical condition of this body at the present time, with suggestions for further corrective measures, answering the questions which have been submitted, as I ask them:

2. EC: Yes - we have the body here; this we have had before.

3. As we find, there are some improvements but NOT as much as there might have been had there been a little closer adherence to those suggestions for the diet through the periods of the applying of the suggestions given.

4. There should be more of the foods, or the diet, such as we would give here. As the affectation is to the eyes, or the sensory system, there is required more of the vitamins A and B-1, C and K as a part of the diet.

5. Then, we would add the steel cut oats as a portion of one meal each day.

6. Also we would take Codiron as a tonic.

7. Then, after another week (this would be two treatments osteopathically, and the seven days of this changed diet), we would begin with the application of the electrical forces that were indicated in the first suggestions.

8. While the body is where it is taking the electrical treatments we would have the osteopathic adjustments also in New York - by Dobbins. These would work together with the changed diet, as well as the better cooperation in the electrical treatments.

9. These would be given twice each week for a couple of weeks, then left off for two to three weeks, - then given a couple of more weeks, see?

10. The corrections would be more specific in the vagus center.

And when making the correction in the 2nd and 3rd dorsal, HOLD the 4th lumbar center also. Make the correction with the body lying upon the face - head straight.

11. Do that.

12. Ready for questions.

13. (Q) Have the osteopathic treatments been administered as directed? (A) Do as has been indicated.

14. (Q) Since he has eye-glasses which were previously given him for reading, by a physician, should he wear them? (A) Wear them until there are those changes being brought about by the use of the electrical treatments, see? Then it would be well to change these.

15. (Q) Is his present stuttering an indication of his present eye condition, or is it due to other conditions? (A) This is a sort of combination. That is why, in making the adjustments as we have indicated, we would change to the Dobbins’ method - during the period of the electrical treatments.

16. (Q) What other treatments can we pursue to help him with his eyes or to help him with his stuttering? (A) Do these as we have outlined, and we will have the better effect.

17. We are through with this reading.

Dear Mr. [1797]:

Hope the suggestions help at this time with the young man’s condition. I think you will see some difference with Dr. Dobbins’ treatment more than with the other man. Don’t know. Not that I’m trying to discount the other man, - but Dr. Dobbins is exceptional, and has had a great deal of experience with the information in the readings. Let us hear from you. R2. 8/15/39 11:03 AM Western Union Telegram addressed to Edgar Cayce:

“Please wire your interpretation [1817]‘s reading. At end of two weeks should he stop both osteopathic and electric eye treatments or only osteopathic treatments?” [1797]

R3. 8/15/39 EC’s reply: “Suggest stopping only osteopathic, continuing electrical treatments as Erlanger advises.”

R4. 8/15/39 [1797]‘s father’s letter:

Dear Mr. Cayce,

As you know, I wired you to-day [See 1817-2, Par. R2 above] to learn just what was intended, if possible, in [1817]‘s reading where it says to leave off these treatments after a couple of weeks. It was not clear to me whether we should discontinue both the osteopathic and the electrical eye treatments or if we should stop only the osteopathic treatments for two or three weeks as indicated. I am very anxious to follow this reading of [1817]‘s to the letter and I hope you will be able to enlighten me in this regard. I know you will be pleased as of course I am to know that [1817]‘s eyes have already improved somewhat as a result of these treatments and as I think I wrote you before his general conditions have already improved as a result of the earlier osteopathic treatments.

R5. 8/17/39 EC’s ltr. to [1817]‘s father:

Dear Mr. [1797]-

Yours of the 15th - had your wire the day I arrived home from a week’s vacation in the Thousand Isles. Nice fishing there - wired you.

SUGGEST STOPPING ONLY OSTEOPATHIC CONTINUING ELECTRICAL TREATMENTS AS ERLANGER ADVISES Think this would be the proper procedure. After the series with Erlanger, then a rest period of three weeks and then would repeat the entire series. Am glad to hear he shows improvement - know you and he are pleased.

R6. 8/30/39 Mr. [1797]‘s ltr. to EC:

NEW YORK

Dear Mr. Cayce,

As I wrote you previously we have been aware of considerable improvement in [1817]‘s eyes for some time. Yesterday Dr. Erlanger examined them and tested them again and told Mrs. […] [[1797]‘s wife] that the vision of the right eye had improved 500%. I want you to know how happy we all are and how very much we are indebted to you. [1797]

R7. 9/1/39 EC’s letter to Mr. [1797]:

Dear Mr. [1797]-

Was very happy to have yours of the 30th and have such a fine report from the Dr. about the boy. I am sure can appreciate your and Mrs. […]‘s feelings in the matter, as have experienced something of the kind myself with my own boy, Hugh Lynn. As you know, all praise to the Powers that be - am sure we all realize it is not possible for me to be able to tell what would help, but the power of Truth that may work through me alone. So, all praise to the Giver of all good and perfect gifts and may we always give HIM the glory, and may the boy’s eyesight be used in the and [end?] to the Glory to God.

Now, regards the other reading. Yes, another might help. Will be glad to try, if you wish. Would make up a list of questions and we will see what can be gotten [See 1797-2 Reports, also 1797-3].

Haven’t been so good for last week - have been out of the running - a very bad cold and have a hard weekend before me. Hope will be able to make it.

Let me know if you wish to reserve a period for you - being out a week has put me in bad for appointments for a time but will do the best we can.

R8. 12/18/39 Father’s letter: I have intended to write you before this about my boy [1817]. His eyes are VERY much better. Dr. Erlanger has said that from now on he wants [1817] to come for a treatment only once a month.

[1817]‘s general condition is also much better than it has been in the past. You must know how very happy Mrs. […] and I are and how much we are indebted to you. At the end of a few months I hope to have another check reading for [1817] as I want to be sure we have done all we can do for the boy.

I want to take this opportunity to convey to you and to Mrs. Cayce and to Hugh Lynn a Very Merry Christmas and a Very Happy New Year from the [1797] family.

R9. 12/29/39 [1797]‘s letter:

NEW YORK

Dear Mr. Cayce,

I have just had a new experience. A man who I had never seen or heard of until to-day came to see me about you and to learn about your health readings. In a round-about way he had heard of [1817]‘s improvement. He has a little girl [2084] who the doctors have told him has not more than ten years to live. You can imagine the poor fellow’s feelings. I hope I may have renewed his faith and I know he intends writing you immediately.

This man is Mr. [2841] of …, Connecticut. He [Mr. [2841]] comes to me well recommended. I know he will be deeply appreciative of anything you can do to help. As a matter of fact he may be so interested that he will want to come come to Virginia Beach to meet you. [GD’s note: See Mr. [2841]‘s child’s rdg. 2084-1 on 1/27/40.]

R10. 1/2/40 EC’s letter:

Dear Mr. [1797]-

Thank you for yours of the 29th. Yes, guess that was an unusual experience for you - some coming to you to ask about a reading. But to try and be of help to some one, as disturbed as this father must be, well, gives one a funny feeling can they refer them to something in which one has confidence. You know now, how, friend [257] feels and something of what a responsibility I feel - not of myself

• but that I may live right or in such a way that GOOD may come to those who seek through these channels. And to so live that one like you might heartily endorse that one - try a reading. I know of myself can do nothing, only as the Spirit of truth may work through me.

Thank you tho, for every thing. Haven’t heard from him [Mr. [2841]] as yet, but will be glad to try and be of a real service in HIS name. [See 2084-1 on 1/17/40.]

R11. 6/11/40 Mr. [257]‘s letter: “Mrs. […] [[1797]‘s wife] just walked in to talk about [1817]‘s eyes.”

R12. 2/1/41 Mr. [1797] obtained a Life Rdg. for his daughter. See 2443-1, Par. 43-A saying she had been associated with her brother, [1817], in past incarnations in Atlantis and in Persia-Arabia.

R13. 7/12/43 Father [1797]‘s letter: “I believe [1817]‘s eyes are growing better slowly and I continue to be optimistic on his behalf.”

R14. 1/28/44 Father [1797]‘s letter:

We are all working hard here and are well. I think [1817]‘s eyes continue to improve altho it is still difficult to get him to give an exact report. He seems to prefer to ignore the condition and maybe he is right. In any case his school work has improved impressively.
