This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at the office of the Association, Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 3rd day of October, 1942, in accordance with request made by the self - Mr. [1861], Associate Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc.

1. GC: You will give the physical condition of this body at the present time, with further suggestions for corrective measures; answering the questions, as I ask them:

2. EC: Yes.

3. As we find, there are improvements in many ways in the general health. To be sure, at times the body overtires itself somewhat in its anxiety. This causes a bit of upsetting at times, or produces the irritation that finds expression in its conversation or speaking to others. At times it is not perceptible to the entity, at others we find that others feel it rather than knowing - or the entity itself experiencing - this anxiety.

4. We find, as for the general forces, there has been some strain through some usage of the glasses; yet there is a continued improvement in the strength of the eye or vision itself.

5. We would use the reading glass rather than being dependent wholly upon the extenuation in the lense of the reading glasses. These as we find are more easily adjusted to the needs of the body. While it takes or requires a little more time, it is most helpful to the body.

6. We would again now, especially through those periods when there is the susceptibility to cold or congestion, take the vitamins. At this time we would take rather the One a Day brand, rather than the others that have been part of the experience. Take both the A and D and B-Complex. Take the One a Day A and D of mornings, the One a Day B-Complex of afternoons - or evenings. These will help to stimulate or keep a better balance, preventing the tendency for colds - if the body takes those precautions especially to keeping the feet dry through wet periods.

7. Occasionally, - once to twice a month, - we would have those corrective forces osteopathically, especially through the latter part of October, November, December, January and February, see? These we would have, and they will aid in keeping better resistance in the body.

9. (Q) Should present oil massage be continued? (A) We would keep the oil massage at each period, as we have outlined.

10. (Q) Should I repair the frame of the reading glasses I have been using, or continue using the stronger glasses which have been substituted for the reading glasses? (A) The reading glasses, as we find, rather than (the magnifying glass) or those that have been substituted at this time. The reading glasses we would use, as indicated.

11. (Q) Have been unable to find records of B. A. Seay from either Henrico County Clerk or Virginia Bureau of Vital Statistics. Will you give exact place, number of volume, and name under which this record may be found - spelling name? [See 1861-13, Par. 18-A, 19-A.] (A) As we find in this connection, there has been located the correct association of Barney A. Seay - or Barnett A. Seay, as a member in the army of the Potomac. You have the record.* Get this - follow this through. [See 1861-14, Par. R1.]

12. (Q) What is the cause and remedy for excessive shrillness in my phonograph? (A) We haven’t the phonograph! [See 1861-8, also 1861-10, Par. 19-A.]

13. (Q) Any other advice? (A) Keep the correct mental attitude in its associations and dealings with others. Be creative in thy thoughts, in thy purposes, in thy ideals. This will aid physically, mentally, spiritually.

R1. See 9/20/45 letter under 1861-19 Reports [re 1861-14, Par. 12-A], explaining that he found upon joining the Masonic Lodge in this present life he was able to learn all of the work in a very short time. He did find the birth record and Civil War records of the Virginia State Library, as well as in Henrico County Court.

R2. 10/8/42 Wife [2072]‘s letter to EC:

Thursday afternoon

Dearest Eddie,

I’m sorry I haven’t been able to sit down and write you and thank you for the readings sooner. [See 2072-11.] Mother has been ill for two days. Worry, indigestion and the coming on of a bilious attack, which occurs occasionally with her, have brought her to bed today. She has had some relief this morning and has slept some today, however, and I believe she will be alright tomorrow.

The readings were very good, and altho we hoped we might not have to make the trips to Norfolk with transportation and travelling conditions congested and slowed down as they are, looks like we still must have few more osteopathic treatments. We know, of course, they are always very beneficial and if the Forces and you say we must have them we’ll just have faith in Them that manner and means shall be provided that such can be carried out. Well, perhaps we shall be able to see you occasionally too. Perhaps next Wednesday depending on Mother’s being well.

[…] left early this morning to be inducted into the army. Then I believe he still has two weeks before he must report somewhere.

Mrs. […], whose husband [2828] has the spinal condition, that I spoke of in a letter to you once before, called me last evening, after I had written her a note regarding the physical readings and said they had talked and discussed having a reading and wanted now to have one. The Drs. are unable to do anything more for Mr. [2828]. [1861] has been around at their home all afternoon talking to them and has just now come back to take an application to them to fill out for the reading. You may, perhaps, receive same with this letter. They asked Mr. Hawkins (Baptist Pastor whom we prepared a way to have a reading for his wife’s condition - you remember) if he would advise them to get a reading and he said, “By all means.” They have tried all Drs. and means and exhausted same, so they are both very ready and in favor of a reading. We know the reading can help him if anything can.

You may also soon hear from […] for a LIFE reading. She is most anxious to have one and especially since having read “A Search For God”. With the time nearing when she shall have to choose her career or life work I know it will be of tremendous value to her.

Eddie, you remember the question [1861] had in his reading:

“What is the cause and remedy for excessive shrillness in my phonograph? If caused by bad tubes, please specify type-number”? He was quite disappointed in not having an answer for this, but we realized that because he was at College, the phonograph was not THERE and therefore you could not find the phonograph or locate the condition. His phonograph means so much to him and his work, do you suppose you could at some time get that question in at the close of another short reading when you have time - of an AFTERNOON? Stating the question as “What is the cause and remedy for excessive shrillness in my Capehart Panamuse phonograph at … If caused by bad tubes, please specify type number.” If it be necessary, if you will tell him when you can try to get the answers, he will stay at home and have the phonograph in process of playing. Would it be asking too much of you? His phonograph is almost as much to him as his eyes - but I think you can understand how much music and tone mean to him!

May be down next Wednesday. Could you come in for the evening if we come? Will let you know definitely a little later.

We are enclosing Mr. [2828]‘s application with this letter with check in the amount of 10.00 and he is asking if he might send 10.00 now and 10.00 next month. He is doing some bookkeeping at home, but is unable to work at the ... anymore. Since they have had considerable expense on Drs. I suppose this 10 at two different times makes it much easier for them.

[1861] told them he thought this would be alright with you. They are lovely and honest people, and I know you can trust them.

He would like an afternoon appointment.

R3. 10/10/42 EC’s letter to [2072]:

Will do what can about the phonograph - the information however is seldom very satisfactory on such things will sometimes offer suggestions with out being asked, but usually when asked for such things will refer you to some one person but will do what we can. Think will have to set a time tho but will talk with you about that when see you if don’t have something on it before that time should you come down next Wed. be sure and let me know.

Have to go tho now - some one calling for me.

R4. 12/2/42 EC’s letter to [2072]:

Dearest [2072]-

Thanks for yours of the 30th - yes 1942 is almost gone hard to realize in all this turmoil from day to day almost a year has passed, one is forced to wonder what another 12 months will bring - changes for all of us of many natures, just as the last has brought, many we have grown to accept without realizing what has taken place. We are all proned to oft as the poet gave “backward turn backward O time in thy flight and make me a child again” etc. Guess I am so crude or something rarely do I feel just like that - but rather to - keep me Oh Lord in the ability to live in the memories that are good and in the knowledge of thee who gave “I will bring to your remembrance all things since the foundation of the world” to those who love me -

Each time have made plans - something has seemed to thwart me, guess will wait and see - yet would like to be there real soon, will be sure to try and see you the afternoon of the 7th and do hope nothing will keep me from it this time be sure and let me know for sure won’t you.

Am having to go in each week now myself but go on Tuesday mornings but it is to another place. The day I wrote you about the Album had letter and catalog from the makers of the Album so have ordered what wished direct from the makers - the American Binder Co. N.Y. thanks tho very much.

People that come and go in the Army life are interesting - Mrs. Cayce has been trying to help by letting enlisted men’s wifes used rooms here - have had and have at present some very lovely people. One especially like yours from Ky. ours was from Ark. a right young couple only married one year the day she arrived here they were very lovely people, very much in love and had been sweethearts since Grammar school days, and was very touching seeing them take leave of one another and hear them talk about it all, he is now possibly in the Solomons or Australia one it seems never knows. Can from experience then appreciate your and Mrs. […]‘s experience.

H. L. has recently been to N.Y. to see publishers about the book and when they would be ready with the regular edition. The special edition will be mailed - they say tomorrow or next day, having quite a nice request for the book so far - had to order quite nice lot today sent along to be mailed from here - many it seems now even with out seeing the book want extra copies for Christmas - have been particularly interested in the number that have been ordered by Gov. officials in Washington D.C. and most are from men that have never met tho have done work for some of them, but never met them. So think you will have your book the day you come to Norfolk, tho possibly get it when you get back home.

Just hope you will not be disappointed in the book - tho the subject may not be so much, the writer has presented it very interestingly and you will possibly know me better when you have read it - tho believe you know me better than most people do possibly best of all.

R5. 12/13/42 Wife [2072]‘s letter:

Dearest Eddie,

The book has come! I knew [1861] had it when he came back from up town and called me in an interesting excited tone the minute he stepped in our living room door. Sure enough he said “The book has come.” And me in the midst of papers, ribbons, seals, wrapping packages! I could hardly wait to begin it, and of all the many things I’ve planned on doing last night and today I have gotten nothing done except the most interesting - a start in the book. I’ve read 80 pages and think it excellent. Like the way Tom has written it. Having heard you tell some of these things or speak of various persons we indeed live with the book. It seemed strange (and nice, too, of course) to read about Anna Seay and her father and I came upon it all by surprise for I didn’t expect to find anything about her in the book. That she lived, then, checked with a reading you gave me - well, sometimes it all seems like a beautiful story I’ve read somewhere else!

What a beautiful thought you chose to autograph the book - almost a very symbol for the whole motive, the cause and thought behind your life, as portrayed here.

I haven’t yet thanked you for coming in last Monday. We did appreciate it so much and enjoyed every moment of being with you. These things are the things that are incomparable with anything else in [2072]‘s life:

Seeing you, talking to you, reading Readings, reading of you, or helping someone else with readings. I feel happiest then

• it is the things I love most of all. It is the best and greatest of all links in a material world, with God & Christ.

R6. 12/20/42 Wife [2072]‘s letter: “[1861] has gotten his reading glasses back and he says the reading evidently was right - he doesn’t seem to notice so much strain upon his eyes as with the magnifying glasses.”

R7. 1/5/43 EC’s letter to [2072]:

Dearest [2072]:

Yours of the 29th - and didn’t even answer you, just wasn’t able, think will have to get you or some good friend to give me a reading, had rather a bad time Christmas week, and off to a bad start for the New Year, glad to say feel some better today, and hope will make it, as have lots that needs to be done, sorry sorrier than know how to tell you that missed you and [1861] but wasn’t much going yesterday. Hope you had good trip and that both of you are fine.

Glad to hear Mr. [2846] is feeling better, hope he will keep on the improve and be real well again. Some Chiro’s like Dr’s in all schools are fine, and if they will pay attention to the suggestion they can do a very fine job of some cases.

Thanks for your confidence in me, know will have to have the help and prayers of many to keep me in the strait and narrow, many can stand reverses that can’t stand popularity, that we see so oft in the personalities of the leaders of old, that we see today, human nature seems much the same, we seem to get self sufficient, self important all too easily, lets hope I do not, neither do I wish to be so timid as to lose opportunities to give to the Glory of GOD in Christ. Just remember me when you pray.

Certainly sorry to have missed you - do hope to do better next time, want to get over that way soon as can, expect to be in N.Y. about the 20th for few days. The launching of the trade edition of the book or something like that.
