This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at his home on Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 9th day of January, 1940, in accordance with request made by the self - Mr. [1861], Associate Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc., through phone request by the brother.

Time of Reading 3:40 to 3:50 P. M. Eastern Standard Time. …, Va.

1. GC: You will give the physical condition of this body at the present time, with suggestions for corrective measures; giving the cause of the existing conditions, answering the questions as I ask them:

2. EC: Yes, we have the body of [1861]; this we have had before.

3. As we find in the present, there is rather the acute condition, - which results from acute indigestion, with pressures upon the hypogastrics, and producing through the congestion in the hepatic circulation a pressure and a contraction and a pain in the back of the neck and head; with temperatures.

4. These as we find have been reduced somewhat.

5. As we find, in the first - at present:

6. Give a colonic irrigation.

7. Then prepare a heavy poultice of cooked onions, chopped fine. Preferably cook in Patapar Paper. Then mix with same just sufficient corn meal to make it stick (raw corn meal), but not so heavy as to make it dry - yet not so juicy as to discolor or become burdensome in making the applications. Apply such a poultice (between gauze), as hot as the body can stand same, to the back of the head and neck, and the same over the pit of the stomach. Keep on until the poultice gets cold, or until the pain is relieved.

8. Give internally those properties which as we find will aid in reducing the tendencies for nausea, and alleviate the disturbances through the digestive forces, acting as a bromide to the gastric forces of the stomach. Prepare same in this way and manner:

Lime Water…1 ounce, Cinnamon Water…1 ounce, 10% solution Bromide Potassium…10 minims, 10% solution Iodide Potassium…10 minims.

9. Add the ingredients in the order named; the dosage being only a teaspoonful in half a glass of water at least two and a half to three hours apart.

10. On the morrow, if necessary, give more of the high colonics to remove these distresses through the alimentary canal, and the poisons and accumulations there.

11. These, as we find, should bring relief for the body.

12. If it is necessary, after four or five hours, and the pains are not relieved in stomach and in the head, apply the Onion Poultice again, see?

13. Do these and we will find the better forces for this body of [1861].

14. The diets should be liquids and semi-liquids, of course, until the strength and vitality is regained.

15. Ready for questions.

R1. 1/12/40 Letter from [1861] to EC: “I am happy to say that thru following your advice I am much improved now and hope to be my normal self again in a few days. However, I was sicker than I have been for quite a long time and the pain in the back of my head was so acute early Tues. morning that I didn’t know whether I would live or not; while my temperature was above 102. Suffice it to say, I am happy to have this new evidence of the truth and sincerity of the work that you are doing.

“I guess you will still give my Mental and Spiritual Reading, as scheduled tomorrow afternoon, as I still want that, for it was given me as a Christmas present by my fiancee, Miss [2072] [noted in 2072-1 Reports], for whom, you gave such an amazing Life Rdg. However, I am not all together surprised at it, for we are so very congenial with each other that we felt we must have known each other in a past incarnation. Needless to say, she is much pleased with her rdg. and you know that I share this happiness with her.

“I believe I can think of no other questions to ask in connection with the Mental and Spiritual Rdg., than those already submitted. Incidentally, my head was so inflamed by my recent illness that I felt the 2 currents come up my spine, pass thru my pineal and into the forehead. I ascended from the earth plane and up thru various planes that were alternately good and bad until I reached the White Brotherhood. When I got up Sunday morning, I could see not only auras, but entities flying in the air. As I discovered later, all of these things were due to swelling of the glands. Yes, I guess I did feel like I was on top of the world, but it was not comfortable and I could not even concentrate on any thing. I believe it was only thru my will that I did not go into death.

“By the way, if you will let me know what the charge for my rdg. of last Tues. is, I will send the amount.

“Again thanking you and with best wishes to you all.”

Describe How Treatment was used: As per physical reading #10,251-C&A [1861-3]: one Colonic; onion & conrnmeal poultice; Lime water, cinnamon water, Potassium bromide and Iodide solution

Results: Lowering of temperature, settling of stomach, relief of pressures [See Comments below] in back of head by following day. Was not necessary to repeat colonic or onion poultice the second time.

Comments: With the pressures in back of head there must have been (a dilation opening) or activity of the centers in the head, for things were seen flying about that were invisible to others, together with other experiences (inner) of a psychic nature (similar to those Mr. Cayce experienced as he left his body.) After two days of this affections of the centers, the treatment prescribed by reading was started and the immediate relief of pressure stopped this activity of the centers.

R5. 2/2/70 GD’s note: Mr. [1861] told me recently that he has kept the above nausea prescription in his medicine chest all these years, and it has worked like magic in similar symptoms, for himself, his wife, and friends. He has the prescription renewed periodically.
