This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at his home on Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 4th day of July, 1940, in accordance with request made by the self - Mrs. [2072], Associate Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc.

Time of Reading 10:40 to 10:55 A. M. Eastern Standard Time. …, Va.

1. GC: You will go over this body carefully, examine it thoroughly, and tell me the conditions you find at the present time; giving the cause of the existing conditions, also suggestions for help and relief of this body. You will answer the questions, as I ask them:

2. EC: Yes.

3. Now as we find, while there are some disturbing conditions which prevent the better normal reactions, most of these would be rather as warnings to make the corrections now while changes are coming about in the body.

4. We find that these have to do primarily - the disturbing forces - with the incoordination in the eliminating channels. Consequently, with the manner of suppression of the nerve forces, there is a hindrance in the eliminating channels.

5. Much that should be eliminated through the regular channels of the alimentary canal, or the kidneys, or the perspiratory system, or the respiratory system, becomes - as it were - changed.

6. Thus we find there are disturbing factors in the cuticle of face and portions of the body where it is rough, or where there are excess blackheads, or an oily skin at times, or those activities that cause disturbance in all of these.

7. As we find, the primary cause lies in a subluxation, as combined with the changing of the glandular forces in the activities of the body as it HAS developed. Thus the changes wrought by the associations will ASSIST in making changes for the body.

8. These subluxations exist in the lumbar, sacral AND the lower dorsal area. These then affect the circulation.

9. Three or four GOOD, DEEP manipulations, taken first, should make most of the corrections.

10. AFTER the osteopathic corrections have been made, we would then begin with hydrotherapy treatments, - that is, we would have the “whole works,” as it were.

11. First we would have a Sweat, preferably not raising the temperature of the body so much, but the FUME Bath as combined with the Dry Heat; and this Fume Bath with an equal combination of Spirits of Camphor and Oil of Wintergreen put in the water that would be boiled under the body so that the fumes of these would settle over the body, see? Put about a teaspoonful of each in a pint of water for this purpose.

12. Then have a THOROUGH rubdown.

13. These we would have about once a week until three or four are taken.

14. And THEN - not before that - we would have one or two (which should be sufficient) of the Short Wave Therapy - the Deep Therapy treatments.

15. Then, after a month, another colonic irrigation would be given. This would be a part of the general hydrotherapy treatments, you see; that we may cleanse the colon from those disturbances that are beginning to be indicated by the pressures through the subluxations in the sacral, the lumbar and lower dorsal areas, in the rectal area in the sphincter centers.

16. When the three or four general hydrotherapy treatments have been given, we would continue the Baths or Sweats. These may then be taken by self, by rolling into a hot wet blanket for fifteen to twenty minutes, AFTER having been rubbed thoroughly all over the body - face, hands and entire body - with Peanut Oil. Afterwards have a thorough rubdown with coarse towels, see?

17. Also for the rectal condition we would take a general exercise morning and evening, - just a few minutes; raise self gently on toes, bending forward until the fingers touch the floor; raise the hands high above the head, still on toes, then reach for the floor. Then the general circular motions of the body, wit these, should reduce the conditions and bring the proper eliminations, proper coordinations of the circulatory forces , and improvements to the whole general forces of the body.

18. As to the diet, - we find that the diet which has been a part of the experience in the present is VERY good. We would not change this a great deal.

19. Never combine fruit juices and cereals, however, at the same meal.

20. Fruits and nuts in their season should be taken, especially almonds and filberts.

21. Keep those things that have been used, only avoiding the combinations as indicated.

22. Do all of these in the ways as we have given, and we should very soon have and keep the body in the normal physical reactions, with greater mental and physical abilities to express the spiritual influences of the body.

23. Ready for questions.

24. (Q) What diet (for this body) would give the greatest harmony of forces for further development of the Kundalini forces? (A) As indicated, these are very good and we would not change these in the present.

We would change those conditions that exist as subluxations, which three to four of the thorough osteopathic adjustments in the area indicated should correct. Then we would have the hydrotherapy, and three to four of these should be sufficient; then the one or two short wave therapy treatments; then keep in the regular way as indicated.

25. We are through for the present.

R1. 7/8/40 [2072]‘s ltr. to EC:

Dear “Eddie”,

Words can never express my gratitude for my reading. I feel the corrections it suggests mean more to me than anything else - OUTSIDE of all the people I love. For I believe that the perfect harmonizing of my body will help me more than anything else to keep love forces flowing for helping others

• which I want to do more than anything else.

And so, it’s thank you again from the depths of my soul, and thank you, too, for the feelings you cannot express in words, for we do “feel” them deeply. Every atom of you goes way deep into me - well you’re still “sweetheart” and always shall be! For what is Love but something to be kept fluidic and used for good - and there ARE a million good ways to use it.

I do feel just over the edge of memory, and I pray that some morning at dawn when the Kundalini forces have risen (as they have sometimes) that I can go backward through this life and the past. I hope! I don’t doubt any facts that come through you - they seem so true to my innate feelings.

We certainly do like Dr. Dobbins. [1861] had his 4th treatment this morning and I had my first. [1861] has had difficulty relaxing until this morning and neither Dr. Dobbins or he have been pleased or felt that something was actually accomplished until today, for Dr. Dobbins hadn’t been able to budge his back until this A.M. - the “4TH” treatment.

We received a wire yesterday from [1861]‘s brother saying Father […] is critically ill and they apparently expect the end any moment. He has taken “Old folk’s Pneumonia” and the lungs are filling. This will mean we must be prepared to leave here any moment although we will remain unless he is unable to recover, as he is unconscious and mother […] said we should not return unless absolutely necessary. [1861] does not believe he [his father] can live through the condition because of the previous 7 year paralysis. If we are called we hope we shall be able to return to New York later to complete the treatments.

You may be interested in knowing Dr. Dobbins was eager to examine my spine before your reading came to see if the two would agree and so on Friday before I received your Reading on Saturday, he found spinal adjustments necessary at the dorsal, lumbar, and sacral regions and ALSO in the cervical. After reading the Reading this morning he presumed the cervical was not mentioned because it might be contingent on the other adjustments! So he said we’ll follow you’re reading and see what happens. I certainly love that in him that is so willing to comply word for word with the method of treating. Doctors, generally, want to go their own way.

I had the first excellent going over with “cracks” and “snaps” then this A.M. and feel like I’d be “all new” pretty soon.

I’m just so thankful for you I don’t know how to say it. Here you are able in a few minutes to tell us cause and treatment and save a thousand dollars of stupid experimenting. Several years ago, in L.A., I had had a spinal exam which said my spine was not right, but I had not so much connected the facial condition with this. Dear old guiding power of you to verify my diet, too, for I’ve been thought [through?] everything from queer to stupid and starving myself, whereas I’ve actually had to inch by inch experiment to find a diet that would keep harmony enough in my body that I could center my mind out and away from myself, on love, etc.

You know, we would both like very much to know your friends here. It wouldn’t “burden” us, because we would like to meet and talk with people who know you, are familiar with your work, are your friends and people who are occultly or mystically inclined and we don’t know exactly how to go about meeting them. We have visited, and I have entered, the Arcane School here (of whom Mr. King knows you and Hugh Lynn).

Whispered: altho you wish we could remember and recall our next past life, I wish you could go back a little farther in lives and connections, for I feel there must have been something very deep, from in another life, that brought about the childhood closeness and the attraction between the souls and feelings at present (since the moment [1861] showed me his first Physical Reading). I feel something so deeply interwoven into my heart. Were you an influence similar to this as Uhjltd I wonder? I seem to feel like things in this life are similar to another life before - or something.

R2. 7/10/40 EC’s ltr. to [2072]:

Dear “little sweetheart”

Thanks for yours of the 8th - do hope you and [1861] will not have to go back - yet feel as if you had already gone. Just hope all is well - however.

Glad you liked your reading. Can’t ever tell you [2072] how much you and [1861] mean to me. There just arn’t words that will tell the story. Yes - to be sure, perfect harmony of the Physical body - gives the better channel for the Mental and spiritual to manifest, and all is the more Beautiful.

Hope you do peep over the edge of memory - some morning - but it is all to real to me, that as look here at this picture of you and I - see another day in the past - when we as children pledged our love for each other. Hope to tell you all about it some time.

Was sure you would like Dr. Dobbins - he is first of all a Christian Gentleman. Glad he made the examination, and found the check in most of the centers. This continues to be a marvel to me, for have so little idea of what a physical body from the Dr.’s stand point looks like, as know nothing of physiology or anatomy.

Are you still in N.Y. will wish to have several people call you - so drop me a card at once won’t you.

We lived close to Hopkinsville, Ky. [B. A. Seay and his little daughter, EC’s playmate] - about 6 1/2 miles out - the Lodge where the records are of [1861] is Beverly Ky., and don’t know whether the lodge is still in existence or not, can find out if any of the old members are still living. Hope to some day take you and [1861] over some of the land - just know tho it is all changed you will both get the feel of it.

If my memory serves me right - and it may not it was Feb. of 87 or 88 will never forget the experience - for felt something was taken from me - and walked several miles myself to be with you at the end.

Yes - evidently each of you were close to me as Ujhldt [Uhjltd] - or however it is spelled, that was where I was the healer.

When get to thinking of all this - well so many things crowd in to be said - can say nothing, possibly better just now that way, better feel our way a bit. While I know comparisons are odious at times, yet find myself feeling, that am rally closer to and feel more strongly about you and [1861], than any one else that I am even related to, or know.

And am sure have many friends that think a lot of me.

But must stop now. Have a real bad cold - mislaid some rule for myself am sure, so don’t feel physically fit at all.

Certainly hope all is well for each of you, and things are better at home than [1861] dreams; please let me hear, and know am glad to help if possible.

• deep therapy. I have completed my series taking one short wave or deep therapy treatment. I am feeling exceedingly well and think my face will clear when I can get back to faithfully keeeping my old diet. Can’t always keep it here much as I’d like to.”

R5. 9/19/40 [2072]‘s ltr. to EC:

Dear Eddie,

There hasn’t been a day pass but what we’ve thought or spoken of you I guess, and I’m sorry I haven’t been able to write you since we’ve returned. I’m hungry for a letter from you - so - guess I’ll just have to write some sort of a scrap so I can have a few words about you, your family, and any interesting notes on your cases and research. I can never tell you how much your work and interesting information, etc., that come from and through you, help and inspire me. There have been so many things to do, so many people to meet, so little time to myself for meditation or inspiration now for the four weeks we have been back, I almost felt like I just couldn’t take it. I know that I can accomplish good things if only I can just have time to myself for creative meditation, but people are so socially inclined, and so little occultly or mystically inclined, here, I was quite depressed with so many callers while we were staying at Mother […]. It is not until the last three days that I’ve had a little time of my own. It’s almost like a blessing. To me quietness, and the God we find when we turn inward, make idle gossip, and the usual womanly talk - without - purpose, clubs, and bridge something to shrink from. I wish I could like social gatherings and activities better but there are so few of them that have goodness and God inspiration that I feel lost, depressed and limited (almost fettered and chained) by the smothering habits of thought people hold on to for dear life.

R6. 11/4/40 Letter: “The sacral region of my spine is not corrected yet. It moves and slips frequently and the nerves are sensitive there at times. The upper part of my spine has stayed adjusted, though.

“So far as we know now we are planning to pursue the treatments for [1861] in N.Y. again during Xmas vacation… If finances permit will see if the sacral region of my spine won’t do better by an adjustment then also, since the upper part has ‘set’ for awhile.”

R7. 12/29/40 (Sunday) [2072]‘s ltr. to EC:

Dear Eddie,

Hope you are well and had a happy Xmas.

We came in Xmas Eve to be with mother on Xmas day, as this was her first Xmas alone since Father […] died.

Have wanted to write you before, but we thought we would wait until these treatments were over and report on how we came out.

The osteopathic treatments, we believe, have very nearly adjusted the spine [1861]‘s. Dr. Dobbins has been surprised and encouraged with the progress he was able to make this time.

And now, we would like another reading. You may set a date and we’ll send the questions and check for the reading after hearing from you.

We are most anxious to know just what has taken place in his [1861]‘s body and the next step we should take.

We had many interesting experiences this time in connection with our trip. Among them the meeting of Miss [2348] in the waiting room of Dr. Dobbins offices on the Saturday before we left N.Y. Dr. Dobbins told us on Friday Miss [2348] was coming in Saturday from Virginia and we were hoping we might have an opportunity to meet and talk with her. I had lay the thought of her arrival completely out of my mind, tho, as we made plans for leaving Sunday. As we went up in the elevator Saturday morning I was sure that a young lady in the elevator with us WAS Miss [2348]. I saw only her back as she stood and walked before us and then when we sat down opposite in the waiting room I could hardly resist the desire to even address her as Miss [2348], but I waited a few minutes. Suddenly she said “Is this Mr. [1861]? not even looking at us. And so we introduced ourselves and after the treatment she went with us to Dr. Erlangers. She was alone and uncertain of her way there and as we were going for an eye treatment we were glad of the opportunity to talk with her and found her case and reading most interesting. She is a sweet, sensitive and likable person, and it is good to know that the treatments have helped her eye, too.

We’ve both come to love Dr. Dobbins so much we have the highest respect for him and his work. He’s fun to talk with

• always open - minded. He’s kind as can be, and certainly knows how to manipulate the spine. He’s someone you enjoy going to and talking with every day of the year as his never dull, forgetful or tediously repetitious, and always wants to talk on new, interesting subjects. Many doctors become dull and BORESOME by their talk as they treat one.

He put me into a CORSET! to hold this spine of mine in place as he hadn’t any more than adjusted it than it went right back again to its own old way of slipping around. So he had to do it all over again and placed me in this straight-jacket thing. I seem to have most TOO flexible and movable a spine and [1861]‘s was just the opposite.

We were most fortunate in having a lovely, quiet and homey place to stay this time. In cold, gloomy, noisy N.Y. that was something!

Thank you, from the bottom of our hearts, for those feelings you have for us. Perhaps sometime we’ll be able to look back upon ALL ourselves and see all causes and effects and understand why we all feel as we do about one another. It all strikes a subconscious memory through heart chords, though. I, myself, feel so many things I seem to understand but cannot actually personally recall - as though it was all there and I know it but cannot see it clearly to speak it in words.

We certainly wish we could spend some time at the Beach this summer. If we came round for a talk every day with you would you mind? Wish we could! We’ll have to be good and see.

“Little Anna” [2072]

You told me in one letter that we liked “to play alone” - “others disturbed the playmates” we had. How true to me is that same feeling of wanting to be alone - how I hate social calls and the disturbing effect others bring into my playmate thoughts. If I could just look on to what people need but not have to enter their social life I could help them so much more. When I am in the midst of their vibrations I become so tired, but if I can sit aside - just hear and see without their seeing or talking to me - I can go and create for them in meditation with love if they do not sit and gnaw away my time and weary me with a million flitting thoughts.

I sometimes wish I could go to a secluded spot away from people and then go inward into myself until I could be satisfied; and then look out upon good and worthy thoughts only and help them grow - healing here, grouping good people together for an ideal there, etc.

Your work is lovely and beautiful. I wish I might do something like it. To get to the actual CAUSE and REMEDY for an ill condition is getting to the TRUTH itself. I loath this blind veil of falsity, superficiality and ignorance, fear, selfishness that seems to hang so heavily like a fog everywhere. I wish I could get inside and know causes and truths and help others by knowing these.

Do you remember, in my reading, telling me that in my French incarnation I “knew of, and turned oft in mind the influences which direct men and peoples in their courses of progress” - “and oft such may direct the aims and activities of a whole country or the whole activities of many, many people.” This knowledge came back to me in this incarnation and I love using it for good and constructive creating - IF people would not tire and weary me with other things so I can not have quietness and time to meditate.

That reading was so truly my soul - oh I wish more people could understand that it is not because I do not love them that I want quietness and aloneness, but that I saturate myself too much with too many non-important things that they carry about themselves when I must remain long in their presence. I love to work with thought in the causal realm and do not like to talk very much.

And now, if you can understand it, you know more of my heart than anybody. [1861] cannot QUITE understand that part of me yet.

R8. 12/31/40 EC’s ltr. to [2072] and [1861]:

Dear [2072] and [1861]:-

Wish I knew how to put into words the joy I experienced in reading your letter of the 29th - guess there is no way to tell it tho, as words do not fit into meditation - but can be still and listen to a something deep within and easily imagine am listening to little Anna again, as we played by the spring, or the hay rick or in the garden with the little playmates or walked through the fields of grain careful to walk with the rows so as not to disturb the growing and ripening grain - for each head of grain were alive to us and the little folk, with a message of thought and care of God for the children of men, in same, preparing food for bodily growth.

Just so was your letter, a message with love and thought, I do not find oft and thus you two come so close to me, I wonder and wonder.

Glad for you [1861] as well as Mother […] that you were home for Christmas. Hope you had the loveliest time ever - glad you had a nice visit to Dr. Dobbins, is fine that you speak so nice of him. Believe he is indeed a God fearing man, conscientious as they make them, desirous of doing good for good’s sake. Glad you met Miss [2348] she is such a lovely person - yet so conscious of her self - made so by the fear that has crept in from the pessimism of the worldly wise, am so glad some help has come to her. Do so hope she can hold on to what she has gained and go on to even better.

So you have to be put into a corset. Just hope that will do the trick and you will get the material benefits you should from same.

My what a cold gloomy place N.Y. can be even among the many one can be so lonesome for quiet they become homesick for the world outside, where they may go within for comfort and quiet.

Oh you must if at all practical spend some time here this Summer. Think can we have a few walks in the wood and pine get close to nature again each will be able to recall much - as said at the first - when read this portion of your letter can remain quiet, there are no words to express the emotions

• and if it is just pure imagination - I say as the old lady [[4277]?] said to her son a few years ago - when he told her the suggestions from the reading didn’t help it was all her imagination and her reply to him was - Son then may it please God to give me some more imagination. But can see and feel those days of yore - with all the sorrow and fear gone - just the PEACE that comes from being close to the LOVE of the CHRIST.

Thank you [2072] - wish I might be able to write even one person so as to bring as much assurance of the “PERSONAL LOVE OF GOD” as you have here in this letter - the assurance that each individual needs that their doubts may be turned in to sereneness - quiet and joy that all that and more you have brought me today - thanks to you and to HIM for through you speaking to me.

They sent you the package today that H. L. wrote you about [Duplicate readings which she offered to index] - would like to sit with you and [1861] some time as you read those - and gather the help that may be of an universal nature. Just hope it doesn’t grate on you too often but am sure it will help - and know constructive criticism is as helpful oft as a pat on the back. So make it severe if it should be.

Is so helpful or seems so to me, that one can see themselves described in some former experience - and almost get the glimpse of the actual happening.

Oh - how you recall so much of those days today - almost lose myself - can’t eve write, read a bit of your letter - then get lost in thought - and there is nothing to say. Words can, won’t express what you feel - O and do I know just what you mean yet - we have to live our lives with others - words

• have to be said now and then that we may not lose contact - and people - so many people - are voluble with words and say nothing. How to use such experiences - seem only for the few
• and know must not condemn others because they can’t see or feel that nearness to the Universal consciousness.

Thank you Anna - yes I understand and love you all over again for it.

Glad you received the booklet - will tell you the story of it and its Author some time - tell me just how you and [1861] respond to it won’t you?

R9. 1/10/41 (Friday) [2072]‘s ltr. to EC:

Dear Eddie, We were so sorry you were ill, but Hugh Lynn said you are better now and we are glad of that.

Will write more at length soon, but want to say thank you for letting us read your readings of ‘24 and ‘25. When one can understand the inward workings of the Universe as to why and what we are - or I should say when one can GLIMPSE them, for they are not always EASY to “UNDERSTAND” - one can only marvel and thank you and God for a “little light” on the Way.

I love working on these readings. There is much to be gained from them of an universal and even personal nature. “Grate on us too often”! No, indeed! We’re just thirsty enough we can’t get enough. And criticism - what criticism can one give you, when you are doing your best to show His Way to us.

How you make me hungry for the sweetness of those “sweetheart” days, when our minds and hearts seemed communicative, mindful, and understanding and respectful of God, nature and His All-Inclusive Love. Wish we could live them over. Up until 1938, when I visited an author of a philosophical book I loved, and then a little later heard of you through reading [1861]‘s physical reading in 1939, I had never known anyone personally who spoke of God and Jesus in the way I understood them or “felt” them. I want you sometime to read this book “Eneres, or the Questions of Reksa” (Eneres - “serene” backward; Reksa - “asker” backward). Enclosed is his “Great Prayer” from it. Eneres, as I have known, loved and called him since I read his book and visited him when he gave me the book for my own, passed from the earth plane October 23, 1940. We corresponded almost weekly and I adopted him as a sort of soul and spiritual father. Sometime I want to know in what other incarnation I’ve known him for I know I’ve been with him before just as I know I’ve been with you. His was a sweet, pure, child-like, innocent, blessing, gentle, and loving attitude toward everyone and everything - for everything was God’s. I know you have had countless books sent you to read but I truly think you’ll find a simplicity, sweetness, freshness, (above all) LOVE here, and a LOVE-RHYTHM, you will adore and marvel over as I do. It expresses the Ideal we both feel and long for in and throughout all peoples.

I’m sending it to you today. Thank you for a million sweet things you’ve said. Love, [2072]

Dear “little Anna”

Thanks for yours of the 10th - yes am thankful to say am feeling fine now - but Mrs. C. is quite ill - she was taken just like I was - she has had a lot of trouble with an eye injury she had some time ago and the cold seems to have settled in that eye and is giving her a lot of trouble - do hope she will be better soon.

Glad to have you read any of the information we have - to get a glimpse now and then of the way - is certainly encouraging

• and oft feel if didn’t have those from some source - would be hard indeed for me.

Glad you like working on the readings - how would like to walk in some time and discuss some of them with you and [1861].

What a revelation to me at times to think of you two - the personalities have known - and know, makes me want to know more and don’t know what it is that wish to know - for - for very definite reason both are etched so thoroughly on my mind

• that have to shake my head at times and wonder - how was it that I have been permitted to see so differently for some folks - and what should I do about it. Can’t separate either of you from the impressions of my boyhood days - and think were given to know you that might really know what real LOVE is, in a material world. Yes wish oft to talk about those times. And they are still in the now.

Just received the Book - will read and return soon as can - have to tell you tho am a slow reader - for such as this have to digest as I read it - from what you say must have been a wonderful Soul.

The Prayer is lovely - funny took the reading this morning before the mail came. That was when the book came. So hadn’t seen it or heard of it - but when I awoke from a physical reading [See note at end of 2426-1]. Had the feeling of having talked with some one didn’t know who but they had said to me - “You speak of others understanding ‘know the LORD THY GOD IS ONE’ - do you not see that is the greatest proof of the reality of what is called re-incarnation, ONE those you have known, do know you see them as one, don’t you, you see their personalities even as one - names confuse - some - but should never confuse you - words convey meaning yes - but no word conveys LOVE that is - as GOD is. Always was - always will be - use it never abuse it.” Funny isn’t it when you read the prayer. But tell me what would you call that??

Dear Eddie,

Your last letter [1/21/41 - See under 1861-6 Reports] was so very beautiful I am sorry I couldn’t sit down and reply and thank you for it immediately, as you always make me feel like doing - instantly I receive one. You are one segment of God so close to us that we want to say things right when our hearts feel deepest and not delay. But I didn’t reply immediately and went to bed with a cold and fevers and sweats for two or three days. I’m just now really and truly feeling like my old self again and can breathe naturally again. I didn’t suffer the weakness of body that is usual with the flu, after one gets up, but the “co’d in the ‘ead” hung ‘round a while so I just stayed in and had some opportunity to work on the readings.

I do hope Mrs. Cayce is perfectly well again now, too.

[1861]‘s recital went off well. He can certainly make me feel proud of him. How I wish I’d kept up my violin, but hope I can sometime pick it up again from him. His remarkable memory makes me wonder and marvel - to know note for note 300 to 400 compositions is almost breath-taking.

We do wish you could have come to the recital, but we can also understand how your appointments keep you busy.

We have the vibrator now and have been using it nightly in the manner given by the reading. We have asked Dr. Dobbins to get the Violet Ray as we were unable to get one in …

We are planning on getting an osteopathic treatment from Dr. Richardson on Monday, Feb. 17 and [1861] says we’re going to have to see you then. If everything works with us, we’re going to stay in Virginia Beach Saturday night and Sunday, 15th and 16th. We’d kind of like to walk into Sunday School as a surprise but guess we’d better really let you know because we want very much to see you and not miss you. Rather come some other time than do that.

I am glad you like the book, Eneres. It doesn’t matter how long it takes you to read it, if you enjoy it.

The Chinese incarnation was most interesting and we were glad to have authentic information on the use of Aluminum.

You know, Eddie, I would sometime soon like to have another reading - physical - to explain some particular conditions in my body - certain reactions from certain foods. There are so many things I can’t eat: either greens or sweets, or the combination of the two, cause a peculiar aching sensation at the thyroid gland. It’s like a lump in the throat. When it comes right down to it there are only about two things I can eat without any bad result; those two are orange juice with egg yolk and honey and chicken soup. I can’t eat the almonds suggested in my reading. Almonds, peas, beans fill me so full of heat they inflame me inside and my nerves and blood become prickly.

Too, I want to know if the sacral and lumbar regions are adjusted and if I might now carry a child and give it a HEALTHY body. I’d like to know if the orange juice, chicken soup and ice cream would be sufficient diet during pregnancy.

Could such questions as these be asked: What is the best time (month and year) for [1861] and I to conceive a child? What entity would we attract - i.e., who entity has been in past lives, briefly?

Do such questions seem unnecessary? They seem necessary to me for several reasons which, if answered, would harmonize a great many things. The food problem is made the more difficult for me because so many things disagree with me and mother worries me to eat things that do not agree with me fearing orange juice and chicken soup are not enough. I want to give body (a HEALTHY one) to an incoming entity and I want to allow it the best possible development we can give it. Knowing inner causes and laws as we do, there is no reason why all attention and care and wisdom could not be given by us to some little entity - To watch, guide and aid it through its developing years. [1861] says he doesn’t feel quite able to cope with a child at present, fears he isn’t making enough, etc.

I don’t think, then, my motives for such a reading will be anything but understood by you. I have wanted to get [1861]‘s eyes pretty well adjusted before thinking of motherhood - you see the question “when”, then, is rather important too. Now, there comes the feeling there should be some little child developing here with us. I want to know something, too, and I’m most afraid to ask for fear people will laugh or misconstrue, but I really want an answer from the plane from which you give the readings. It is answerable, I’m sure, and would be beautiful to know & understand; and it would be beautifully explained I’m certain. This: What is immaculate conception? Is it possible for the ordinary woman? Would the opening of the mind to such an ideal make it possible? Are there any entities now awaiting such a method of birth?

Seems like there are a million questions in me, I’ll bet, but the answers which come through you are TRUTH to me so I wouldn’t hesitate to ask anything and know it would be answered from the very source of Truth itself - God. And God would answer questions, where they are sincerely asked for spiritual betterment I’m sure, with perfect understanding of motive as a Father answering his children’s questions. Don’t you feel so?

Dear [2072] and [1861]:

Good to have yours of the 2nd, wish now could just walk in and have a good long talk with each of you, but so often wish that might be with you, that is nothing new. Do hope your cold is much better [2072] and that you are feeling your good self again. Mrs. Cayce is still quite ill not up to the standard for her at all. While she is trying to stay up as much as she can, trying to get her strength back, at times she says she makes a very poor out at it.

Don’t know of any thing would have been better than being able to be at the recital, am delighted that it went off so well. Know you are proud of [1861] and as his sight gets better and you take up your violin again, well the tie will just grow stronger and stronger. Am very much persuaded myself that people grow closer or away from each other as they interest themselves in that each is working at all the while.

Wish you could come down on Saturday and be here over Sunday

• would like to have you in our class again, don’t know as have so much to give but just to have you two present, is wonderful, among my first experiences of being in Church was going with [1861] when he was B. A. - so am sure he would have and does have an experience when he hears me trying to give any thing from the Scripture. But will be very glad to see you all, and let us know when you are to arrive and will see you if you haven’t your appointment with Dr. Richardson at the time. If so will send in and get you right afterward anyway. Know you will like to see the new Offices and H. L. will have a lot to say to you about the cards - they are fine and possibly you will have suggestions about the work. Hope so.

I like the book very much “Eneres” have read some of it many times and wish to again if I may, before returning it.

Think you will find a great deal of information of many kinds as you work over the reading - a most interesting Life reading for a little girl [2444] day or so ago. She is a Jewess now, and was a Sister superior in the last life here. Is the daughter of a Rabbi now - and says she will be very much interested in a young man who is Catholic. Interesting

• but guess will be somewhat confusing to some of the family.

Your reading would be most interesting, with certain individuals have given quite a bit on foods, and especially what they were allergic to and why. So, guess that would be right down your alley - as they say.

Possibly you take the Almonds with other things - try a bit of them alone some time, not much but just a little. There are food values in them that seldom found in any thing else. And should be good for you, but if they cause discomfort leave them off.

Sure all such questions are reasonable, and am sure you would get very direct answers and usually why. As to just what entity would come, don’t know that that would be answered, - we are having a series of readings now for the prayer group all about the preparation of the body and minds of perspective parents [See [281] series on glands]. Will try and have a series of these ready for you when you are down. Am sure they would be of interest to you, and might answer some of your questions. But of course what you wish is individual, and these might help you arrange such questions also.

You have the right attitude toward Motherhood, and am sure these readings will be just the thing in a general way for you at this time - then you can have your specific questions answered better am sure. Will be a real pleasure to at least undertake such a reading for you and [1861].

Why should any one laugh at such a question - has been asked by one or two already - you may be sure there are not many things that haven’t been asked at one time or another. It is always tho the approach one makes that causes the answer to be very definite or evasive. And feel sure you will be able to get many of your questions answered - don’t think you would have too many.

Yes - it is with the same sincerity of purpose that the answers come as with which they are asked. That is why some get so much fuller answers than others and too at times the explanation if asked with doubt or curiosity - is more complex than the questions themselves. But I like your questions - and your approach to them - but know you will be most interested in this series of readings. Was begun on Glands, that we might understand Revelation. I am deeply appreciative of the Readings on the Endocrine Glands that you sent. It seems like that whenever we need an answer to something and want very much to know Truths and First Causes you supply the means or give it yourself. Thank you. These seem to answer some of the many questions in my mind.

We were certainly glad to have your letter, too. We are sorry that Mrs. Cayce has had to suffer the illness and weakness. So many who have had flu here have had such a difficult time getting their strength back. I feel fortunate in not having had that resultant weakness.

We’ll be only too happy to accept your invitation to Sunday dinner. Sweet of you to think of the orange juice and chicken soup. I can make a meal on just chicken broth and love it! We’re going to love being with you again and having as much talk as we can with you while we’re there for that is our reason for coming.

[1861] has classes on Saturday morning, so we won’t be able to make an appointment with Dr. Richardson before Monday as we will not get in Norfolk Saturday until 4:30 P.M. He is cancelling his Monday classes so he may get the treatment on Monday. We’re coming down Saturday, though, arriving at Norfolk on the 4:30 train, so hope that we can see you Saturday evening, go to Sunday School Sunday, and then see you Sunday.

I’m happy you like Eneres so well, and indeed I don’t mind your keeping it as long as you want and enjoy reading it. That’s the way it took me - made me want to read it over and over and drink in its sweetness and cleanness and freshness.

Perhaps the suggestion on almonds was a good one. I’ve been eating them with apples and oranges and grapes and they seem a good and satisfying meal.

We’re wanting to see the offices and I’m anxious to talk to Hugh Lynn about the indexing. Seems like this visit works in just at the right time. As I haven’t heard from Hugh Lynn I’ve been going on with the readings, but I do need some more cards - small, both white and cherry.

Oh, it was hard coming away from you the other night - I felt like I wanted to stay always with you, to know and be beside you in your every experience. The things that you related ring over and over in my ears. How I have thought over those experiences that you related as the Chariot of God, the two beautiful experiences in which your mother materialized the peace dollars to prove it was unnecessary to worry and the morning vision “Who shall warn my people”.

It was GOOD to be near you. I cannot nearly say my feelings. And we want to thank you, Mrs. Cayce and Hugh Lynn, Edgar and everybody for their kindness.

We liked Dr. Richardson very much and the treatment given [1861] was excellent. He used a different technique from Dr. Dobbins, which was especially effective in relaxing nerve tensions in neck, head, and upper back. We can see how each of these doctors is and was best for the particular work to be done at the particular time.

As we haven’t yet received the double eye electrode we are using the single applicator one minute on each eye until you are able to get the information regarding length of time for treatment.

Couldn’t help but think of you very often since we’ve returned. For instance: I went to … with mother Tuesday and that evening after I returned [1861] and I were exchanging our thoughts and activities of the day to find we’d both been thinking of you between 3 and 4 in the afternoon, while I had also had you very strongly on my mind on the drive into … from 10 to 11 in the morning.

Well - it’s Saturday again. Wish was expecting you and [1861] again this afternoon, wouldn’t that be just lovely. But certainly did enjoy having you with us. Am more than pleased to know that [1861] was pleased with his treatment from Dr. Richardson. Think he is a fine man and an excellent osteopath I suppose it - the information - takes every thing into consideration, for it sent Miss [2348] back to Dr. Dobbins. And would be so much better for her if she could get what is needed right here.

Thank you, hated to see you leave so soon. Realized hadn’t said half what had thought would say, and talked little or none of many things wished to ask each of you about. Do hope you feel that I was not trying to impress you by telling you of the marvelous things that has been my privilege to experience. They have been periods to me that can’t tell every one about, and suppose when got started just couldn’t help but keep on. They are experiences that have taken the place of so much I feel at times have lost - yet not lost, but hope you know just what I mean, of course I was a child a little child, but when one comes first face to face with death as we know it. Of those they have and do love so very much, well something has gone, or lost or grown into something else. And such experiences seem to be an assurance, they have only changed relations, and make those loved ones just nearer and dearer to you - making one realize there is work to do, and one so oft feels not fitted for it. And without that assurance just couldn’t go on.

The Chariot was the most awe inspiring of possibly all my experiences yet. One doubts their own eyes and feel. But with Mother and the materialization one feels so little, for ever doubting anything God has promised - and about us there is so much earthy thought. One gets rubbed the wrong way so much as to feel unreal most of the time.

Wish you had suggested about the reading - you know some time wish you to take the reading, or make the suggestion when the reading is being given. Would have been more than glad to have had your reading - well when you come again will be sure and get your reading - am sure will be much better for you to be present when it is given.

Oh, if I could just wrap you up in my heart and keep you there! Eddie, that love is just as truly there for you now as it was when we were little sweethearts. Nor does it take any of my love for [1861]. I can love you both for you are both OF GOD and BEAUTIFUL souls.

You must not apologize for relating your experiences. We love it when we can be alone with you (almost selfishly so) and can sit and listen. They are golden treasures we carry back in our hearts to think over and become deeper and better by because of the relation of very deep love for you that both of us feel. No, there are not many people who could understand those experiences and know how much they mean to you, but when we listen to you we feel like we are for a time in the very heart and soul of you and God. These things are God and Love and Goodness and Beauty and are, then, the Real, not the false and superficial things of unrealness. We know them to be true - we feel them, again - when you relate them, to be as vibrant and filled with Love of God and the White Brotherhood as though they were experiences of our own. You, of all people we have known, have that true humbleness, awe, respect, spirituality within that we have looked for in others, who attempt to teach humanity, and find it hard to find. To [1861] and I that is the most beautiful thing we have ever felt or known in this lifetime.

Oh, I wish - and sincerely, from my heart - that I’d lived on then, in that life, for a richer development and expression of that love to you. But the feeling is still there, although my expression can not entirely be what I want to make it. Please may you draw upon my inner heart for whatever you need when you need it, - for we are in contact with each other again and Love can help in so many things in this sometimes unkind and trying, stumbling world.

My Dear Eddie,

So here we are with the sweetness and sanctity of the childhood pledge “full sweet” still traced upon our hearts and souls. The beauty and wonder of it! I could not understand what pulled and tugged at my heart and soul from the moment I heard of you and your work, until little by little you have told me of experiences that have helped me to understand. I often feel things intuitively but do not - can not - explain them by any facts of MATERIAL being. It seemed as though you were part of my heart and soul. Truly - how wishes and longings and love are invisible forces, bonds stronger and more powerful than any chains. And so, by them, we are woven together, again and again, in one little pattern of the universe. The beauty of this inner part of the universe that holds one so in wonder and exaltation - like the unseen mechanisms behind the face of the watch, which we cannot see unless we turn it over and look inside - how marvelous it is! Like you, it gives me great wonder. But it gives me great happiness to feel it working.

I want to know more sometime - we must MAKE that sometime - of little Eddie and Anna. That time has not been given us yet, but I pray that it may be. I feel as though I stand with the pledge on my lips even now.

God has been good to us in teaching and showing us in such a beautiful little experience so many things - of love, of life, of death, of the spiritual things.

Dearest Eddie,

Your letters are always so good to get. I guess I can most live on them like food. Each one adds something sweet and rich to the heart and soul of me. You give something spiritual to life that I find it hard to live without. I wish, ever so sincerely, that I could perform as great and helpful a work as that which you give to those who need help. I should be HAPPY if I could do so much.

Yes, we had snow March 1st and again the 7th. The one March 1st was the first snow storm I had seen since visiting Indiana in 1928 and the snowflakes and blanket of white thrilled and satisfied a hungry yearning to see and feel snow again. Today is warm and sunshiny and only tiny patches of snow have remained in the shady places. Perhaps you can’t understand why I loved seeing the snow - most people can’t - but there is something artistically satisfying in seeing it about once a year if it causes no harm - to me anyway. California has never been quite complete to me without the feeling that comes from Nature through seasonal changes. Each season has its own beauty and changes are invigorating to me. Spring wild flowers, birds, woods, autumn leaves, etc. - I love them all - even as I did as little Anna, I guess.

It is good to have you tell of little incidents from that time. They seem such full days - those days of nature, beauty, God, and Love.

Had a lovely letter from Mrs. [1770] a few days ago, from Palm Springs. Her letters are always vivid with beauty and joy from doing things. There is an emanation from both she and [1771] that makes one glad to say “I’m thankful for good friends - and they are two friends whom I am thankful for.” They give something spiritual and good from their soul to others souls.

We’re very glad Mrs. Cayce is better. I hope she will be able to have the work done in Kentucky soon, too. And she should have it done as soon as possible.

And if any or all of you drive through to Kentucky, please drive through … and stay a little with us if you possibly can. Please! If you can stay, or, if you can’t any more than say hello - either way.

Could you, sometime when you have time, tell me what has come through the readings on immaculate conception? I would appreciate it very much.

Eddie, as we don’t know just when we shall be able to get down there again and since we want to save to be sure we can come down for convention, I wonder if you would give me a physical reading soon. I’d like ever so much to be there when it is given, but think it might be best to have it now as there might be treatment or advice that I should be carrying out now. Thanks for yours of the 10th - always like sunshine to hear from you. Makes me feel all young again, feel as if might be the little boy you encouraged so, in the long long ago. And yet is new, now, for it hasn’t changed one bit. Am sure love never does. Had felt possibly such things were lost, forgotten but no, they are ever life giving, creative, God like. Live on and on to brighten the lives of all it touches. Could do, did you say you bring cheer, love and life into the lives of all you contact, and if am ever worth much to any one, will be part of your doing.

Bright here today - but cold and weather man promises more cold. But clear, we did not have snow this last storm just rain, but that is disagreeable enough for me. Yes, think I do understand about you and the snow - more than you realize. Remember our first snow together, and how you held your little face up and laughed and laughed as the snowflakes pelted your little face. And have never seen a snow that haven’t looked up into same, and thought of that time, with you. So think I know, it is those little things [2072], that get deep down under, and make my poor old heart beat a bit quicker, and am assured more and more, of the continuity of mind - heart and soul, as has been expressed here in this world of ours - how Good Oh how good God has been to us to let us find each other. No, to let know that is better. What a use we may make of such knowledge to others - possibly give hope, founded in HIM and HIS promises.

Had a letter from Mrs. [1770] & [1771] not so long ago - such beautiful descriptions of the trips they take in Cal. What beauty must be there, how near one must feel to God, as they view the majestic beauty all about - all nature speaking of HIM. As we have special company coming this week and think Gertrude has put off her trip for day or so, sorry, for am sure she should have had something done long ago. Do hope she will get lots of help from these treatments, when she does go, but am sure the trip will help also, for she will be home. And HOME is a very pleasing satisfying word carries - a spirituality, we seldom find in words. Don’t know as am able to tell you or to put into words, what has been given regards immaculate conception. To be sure several times questions have been asked. Think possibly, most and the best way will be from your question in the reading for you. Am making the period for the morning of the 18th 10.30 to 11.30 E.S.T. my birthday, can’t imagine any thing nicer than being with you on that day - hope you get just what is needed at this time. Thank you for your “birthday”. It was sweet of you to give me that day for a reading. Thank you for so many things said. I can also, from the bottom of my heart, say that I have been able more to “find” myself since I have found my “Little Eddie” again. I don’t feel nearly so lost since I’ve found you and [1861]. I felt lost in my own family - unable to express my true feelings regarding things the way I felt them.

When you told of the love of the snowflakes - how I envied little Anna in her freedom of her expressions. They’re the things that I feel, really, and can’t always say and do. It’s more than joy itself to have your understanding.

Sometime will you describe little Anna in appearance. I’ve often wondered if features, colorings, and build are similar in two different lives of one entity. Wish we could dig up a picture of Anna [2072] and [1861] Barney.

I am working on the reading of [161], paralytic in 1930. Can you tell us how that case came out? There is so much of human interest in each case - I feel like I wanted to know all about each one - want to see each one well and happy. You don’t know how the wonder and beauty in each reading makes me want to hug each reading tight in my arms. Funny way to express it, but I mean: they’re so filled with Good and God I love them, what they say, what they do for people.

B2. 6/6/40 Mr. [1861]‘s letter: “[2072] has what might be called an aesthetic appetite and it would be better that we either get our meals out or prepare something she would like in the apartment. She eats no meat and lives almost entirely on fruits and vegetables. So you can easily see why I am trying to do what is best for her [about living quarters while at the Beach]. I am going to try to get her to have you give her a physical reading and get her diet right, as meats and heavy foods make her sick.”
