-
MHB: Now you will have before you the Board of Trustees of Atlantic University, and the relationships in regard to this university. In giving the advice, or in my seeking advice on the university, I seek the advice of Him whom I serve - my Master, who in the flesh was known as Jesus of Nazareth. You will answer the questions, and from Him give me that counsel that His will in this respect may be done.
-
EC: Yes, we have those conditions as confront those that would minister through those channels, that will be known as Atlantic University.
-
In the administering of ideals, in the planning of policies, the great care should be had in that these are in keeping with those tenets as will make it possible for those forces, those vibrations, those elements of understanding and inner consciousness, to be made manifest to those that MINISTER and serve in the various capacities as ministers, or servants of mankind, in and through this channel. This done, the character, the characteristics of each that minister in their various phase of ministration, should be well-grounded in that understanding that their portion, their phase of ministry, is but a manifestation of the whole in its particular sphere of ministry. This done, little fear may be had respecting resources, or those of MATERIAL things necessary to carry on. Remembering that as of old, they labored one with another - for they all had a mind to work for the building up of an house to establish His name there. Then, let thine yeas be yea - thy nays be nay, but little by little, line upon line, MINISTER - even as it is given thee. Not in exaltation of self in ANY of those phases of desire as respecting the selfish exaltation, but rather in humbleness of spirit, serving the weaker, that the STRENGTH OF the Lord be made MANIFEST in and through those offices.
-
Each should, then, be made aware that they are but channels through which each trustee, each minister, each teacher, each interpreter, may assist those who present themselves for the study, that they may GLORIFY Him, and there will be added unto the number such as are called; for those whom He called did He predestine - that they might through SUCH offices be given the OPPORTUNITY to make manifest the experiences as are given them.
-
Ready for questions.
-
(Q) Would it be well, then, that each professor be interviewed and be presented with some of the ideal? (A) There should not be chosen even the MESSENGER or the janitor, nor the president, without instilling that those are the IDEALS.
-
(Q) With regard to Hibbins - (A) This presents rather a delicate situation in the present. Would not be well to be too RADICAL in the presentation. Not that one would be lukewarm, as the church that was such, and be spewed out even as spittle - but rather that thine good be not evil-spoken of, nor thine evil spoken well of. Remember that the MIND IS the BUILDER, and must be tempered with justice, mercy, peace, longsuffering, humbleness of heart, TRUENESS of purpose and BIGNESS of understanding. Then, there must be a training for such an one before such an one would minister - as yet. [See 2087-3 Reports, letter to Mr. Hibbins.]
-
(Q) It would be best, then, to have no individual one give a course in psychical research this first year? (A) Correct. Let each approach the subject, for MUCH will be had respecting same. BE not high-minded, nor be not condescending to men of high estate. Rather be in that position of giving the first principles of an understanding.
-
(Q) With regard to giving a written guarantee, or a written statement to those who seek some assurance of continued financial remuneration - (A) First, each that would serve should be presented with the IDEAL - and if such an one is not imbued with that of sufficient of the purport and purpose, such an one is not worthy, even were they GIVEN ALL in hand - see?
-
(Q) Would it be well to get a Life reading and let each professor HEAR the Life reading? (A) Going too far with this. Each will, in their OWN time, seek - for well it may be said, that will the basis of the policies of those ministering through these channels be kept as one, as has been given, those that do not fit CANNOT be fitted! See?
-
(Q) What would be a good symbol in the form of colors, of our ideal? (A) These, we find, are MANY - in the VARIOUS phases of expression. Those of purple and of gold present the highest of that as attained in COLOR vibration.
-
(Q) Are those professors we have already chosen fitted to carry out the work of this association of learning? (A) These should, before their formal acceptance - ONE AND ALL - should be presented, IN PERSON, as person to person, the ideal. Then, do they adhere to - do they give their WILLINGNESS - then accept same. Do not select even the janitor without such ministration.
-
(Q) Will you give, in a little dissertation here, the ideal and purpose? (A) This, as has been given here. This is as has been presented by the brother of the Lord. [137] This is has been presented - by the aid in these directions. See? [137-118?]
-
(Q) Is there any other advice now with respect to the foundation of this association of learning? (A) Keep true to that principle from within, and let not him that physically heads same veer from that. Not an expression of self as to laud, or as to be in any manner of presenting self as above another, but rather HUMBLING self - that the GLORY may shine through.
-
(Q) What part should each of us play, or are we fitted to play, in the ministration? (A) Ministering as to the policies that MUST BE followed by the faculty in ITS administering to the needs of those pupils that seek through this channel for the understanding of what life is all about; making life not only good, but good for something.

R1. 12/26/31 Hannah Miller’s letter to William Hibbins:
”…A group of folks of Norfolk, Va. and Virginia Beach, Va., U.S.A., under the auspices of the Association for Research & Enlightenment are studying and preparing a course of lessons given through the direction of the psychic powers of Mr. Edgar Cayce, Va. Beach, Va., U.S.A. [A.R E. Group #1, see [262] Series on A Search For God.]
“We understand that you know personally Mr. Cayce and of his work. Should it interest you, we would very much like to hear from you, and to know if similar work is being done in England, also how to get in touch with these groups, if such there are…”
R2. 1/19/32 William Hibbins’ reply to Hannah Miller:
”…In reply to your letter of December 26th, I do not know of any groups of people here who take lessons given through one special psychic like Mr. Cayce. We have psychical research societies and over five hundred spiritualist churches where psychic work is done, but usually several mediums are engaged during the year.
“I have personally had thirty-five years’ experience in psychic investigation and find considerable variability in the powers of psychics. If Mr. Cayce’s control is of exceptionally lofty mentality, I have no doubt that the course of lessons will be very valuable, and I shall be very interested to know how you get on. Most of our educational psychic classes here are held in connection with the spiritualist churches…
“P.S. Please note that your letter was somewhat delayed owing to being insufficiently stamped.”
