This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at his home on Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 31st day of January, 1941, in accordance with request made by the father - Mr. [2345], Associate Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc.

[Edgar Cayce; Hugh Lynn Cayce, Conductor; Gladys Davis, Steno.]

Time of Reading 3:55 to 4:10 P. M. Eastern Standard Time. …, West Va.

  1. HLC: You will give the physical condition of this body at the present time, with suggestions for further corrective measures; answering the questions, as I ask them:

  2. EC: Yes, we have the body here, [2153].

  3. As we find, conditions may at times appear as if retrogressing; yet the very nature and character of the conditions - from both the physical and the physiological angle - must be considered.

  4. For, until there is a full correction in the physical or pathological conditions, there will be at times the relapses, or periods of disturbance. But as the physical conditions are gradually corrected, and the physiological and pathological conditions change - as to better coordinate - we will find greater improvement.

  5. DO NOT grow weary at welldoing, or begin to slacken in the purpose, belief, desire and activity towards these conditions.

  6. As we find, these very minor changes - yet very definite ones - we would make here:

  7. Keep up those periods of the Castor Oil Packs; that is, at least once or twice a week; over the caecum and the whole of the lacteal duct area.

  8. When making the osteopathic adjustments, while not so deep as to cause disturbance or injury in any manner, DO give a deeper massage - and a kneading of the areas about the lacteal duct centers; just below the gall duct area, between that and the caecum; that we may break the adhesions which, as we have indicated, are causing a physical reaction to the body.

  9. There is very good reaction from the diets in the present.

While not giving way to appetites, DO have those suggestions and attitudes by the body - as well as those about the body - that the diets are of a purposeful nature and not something just to be endured.

  1. Do these, and as we find we should find greater, longer periods of less disturbance to the body.

  2. Ready for questions.

  3. (Q) Has any definite change taken place in the body since the return to … from New York, December 1, 1940, and if so state whether favorable or otherwise? (A) Just read what has been indicated, will you - please?

  4. (Q) Are the present treatments of Castor Oil Packs applied by the mother, and the osteopathic manipulations by Dr. Thomas, being properly done? (A) Will you just read what has been indicated, as to how the changes should be wrought in these?

  5. (Q) Small doses of Phenobarbital are given the body three times daily but does not seem to help to reduce the number of attacks which lately have been coming regularly every five days. Advise whether the doses should be increased or continued as at present, or discontinued entirely? (A) We would discontinue these entirely for the time being; using the Dilantin.

  6. (Q) You suggested on a previous occasion to give Dilantin in small doses. Since the doctor stated this medicine must be taken in regular doses three times daily, same was not used. Advise whether it will help the body if temporarily the doctor’s instructions are complied with? (A) We would change to this now, three times daily. Then we will find there there will be periods when we would change back to the other, see? But these are only as sedatives, and not as things that cure. The physiological changes, AND the attitudes and the psychological changes, must come about. These are merely palliatives to aid, or to prevent distresses - or injuries through periods of distresses, see?

  7. (Q) Are there any foods the body is now consuming that are proving a hindrance to its recovery and, if so, advise of what they consist? (A) As we have indicated, do not allow foods to become as a matter for disturbing conditions to the body. But by the attitudes, by the purposefulness, let these become as something that is needed. As given, we do not find any great disturbances from these, - save when at times there is the breaking over, or the attitudes of disturbance because she can’t do this, or couldn’t do that, see?

  8. (Q) Does the present condition of the body show any improvement over that of July 1940? (A) As has been given. Read that, please!

  9. (Q) From present indications is a cure in sight and if so approximately when? (A) This again, as just outlined, becomes rather disturbing or confusing or DOUBTING. DOUBTERS do not find relief. Fear only makes hardships.

  10. We are through with this Reading.
