This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at his home on Arctic Crescent, Va. Beach, Va., this 6th day of April, 1933, in accordance with request made by self - Mr. [228], Active Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc.
[Edgar Cayce; Gertrude Cayce, Conductor; Gladys Davis, Steno. Mildred Davis; Hugh Lynn and Leslie B. Cayce.]
Time of Reading … Industries, 11:00 to 11:20 A. M. Eastern Standard Time. …, Fla.
-
GC: You will have before you the body and the enquiring mind of [228], who is at the office of the … Industries, …, Fla. You will give suggestions for the continued improvement of the physical conditions of the body; also outline just what he should do in regard to the present existent conditions with … Industries, especially as related to the Income Tax Board. You will answer any questions that may be asked.
-
EC: Yes, we have the body, the enquiring mind, [228]; this we have had before; also those conditions physical, mental and material that surround the body at this time.
-
In the physical forces, these we find show a great deal of improvement from that as we have had here before; while there are still some better conditions to be desired in respect to the general building up on the system, with the eliminations and the general functioning of glands and organs, for the creation of the better physical resistance.
-
The carrying out of those suggestions given, with the character of those properties given, as we find, will continue to show for a better condition in this direction. [228-3]
-
Well, too, that there be sufficient of the exercise in the open and of the specific natures, nights and mornings, that there may be a general distribution throughout the system of the impulses that are created by the assistance of corrective influences in the physical forces of the body.
-
We would continue, then, with those properties that have been given for the body.
-
We would be somewhat more REGULAR with those setting-up exercises, head and neck exercises; one taken in the evening, the other in the morning; and be sure there is sufficient of the exercise in the open to keep the coordinating influences in the system.
-
These, as we find, would make for better physical conditions throughout the system.
-
As to those conditions which disturb the body mentally and materially, in the matter of the filing of those returns for the corporation - and corporations:
-
Inasmuch as there has been consideration given the body in its present connections with the organization, and that the hearing has been set at a period when it may be possible, plausible, for the body himself to present the conditions, this he should do - as we find - in person.
-
And the conditions should be presented, not as an attempt to shield anyone; nor as an attempt to make any form of statement other than that which has already been presented.
-
And the clarification necessary will be for the body to present the conditions that exist under the present situation.
-
While the outcome, as we find, would not in ALL directions be that which is most desirable (from some directions), as far as the BODY is concerned there will be the abilities for same to be worked OUT in a manner that will make for the better situation, the better connections, the better abilities for the organization to proceed in an equitable way and manner to meet the situations, to overcome those fines or those situations that may be presented against it. And the organization, THROUGH the efforts of the body, may RECEIVE that consideration which will allow this to be worked out and carried on.
-
This will then (if presented in this manner) turn to be a HELPFUL situation, and a healthful situation, for the whole organization. For, through the same channels there may be aid granted; not only in the local conditions. For, as intimated, it would then be possible for the financial institutions in the local territory to lend aid in a manner as to be the most helpful, and most healthful, as respecting the efforts of the body.
-
Then, go in person and PRESENT this; without any effort to cover, sidetrack or to blame ANYONE with the existent conditions. See?
-
Ready for questions.
-
(Q) What other action should the body take in connection with the business of the company which employs him? (A) As indicated, through this proper presentation there may be allowed the proper activities; and there may be gained the aid and help through the local financial institution, by the very activity of the Board - that presents such an obstacle at the present time.
-
We are through for the present.

Reports & Follow-up
R1. 4/8/33 He requested 313-5 for his wife.
R2. 4/10/33 He wrote: “You would send me to Washington! Just as glibly as saying to walk around the block. All right I’ll try to go…
You blame this trip entirely on your reading. I have already started the ball rolling to arrange it, and guess it will materialize. I hope that I may be able to put over the arrangement at Washington indicated in your reading. Verily it would be just short of a miracle if this organization could pull out of its difficulties. Believe it or not I’m growing more hopeful.”
R3. 4/17/33 He visited EC on his way to D.C.
R4. 4/21/33 He wrote details of his contacts at the Tax Appeals Office: “By a coincidence (or the natural working of things) I ran across Lt. Frank M. Thompson with whom I was fighting the war of Vin Rouge in France on Nov. 11, 1918. He has a similar job to the atty. [Allen] representing the Treasury Dept. in our case and introduced us.
“After I had a small conversation over opposite sides of the bench with His Honor the Board Member on the Bench, Thompson took me over and introduced me to the atty. who has charge of the section on all ‘offers in compromise’ submitted throughout the country. His name is H. H. Hart. I put on my best oratorical manner and spilled him a tale of woe, after which he said he would approve just about anything that the Florida Treasury Dept. officials would recommend…
“I arrived in Jacksonville this a.m. and decided I would see the Collector of the Internal Revenue. I contacted his righthand bower, Mr. Peace, who of course is the highest authority, who knows what it is all about. He recognized Hart as being the big cheese in DC okay. I poured into Peace a very comprehensive picture of the situation, and our conference lasted an hour and a half, slipping by pleasantly and like lightening. He indicated that Blodgett who lives at … would cooperate and give such assistance as I might ask for. Peace seemed to think one thousand dollars should go through as a basis of settlement, but that is a guess, and we did not commit ourselves to figure. If he’ll take a thousand dollars already, he might scale it down some more. He indicates no rushing attitude by U.S. this month…”
R5. He requested another rdg., submitting questions.
“How should I proceed in working out the affairs of the Company? Was my activity before the Board of Tax Appeals on April 19th satisfactory? Was my conference with Mr. Hart on the 19th satisfactory? With Mr. Peace in Jacksonville on the 21st? and what are the suggestions that should be carried out? Are there any other suggestions?
R6. 4/25/33 EC gave him Rdg. 228-6.
R7. See subsequent Business Rdgs.
R8. See subsequent health notations under 228-3 Reports.
