This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at his home on Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 29th day of July, 1938, in accordance with request made by the self - Mrs. [23], Associate Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc.
[Edgar Cayce; Gertrude Cayce, Conductor; Gladys Davis, Steno. Edmond and Gladys Mae Jones.]
Time of Reading 6:00 to 6:10 P. M. Eastern Standard Time. …, Ky. (Physical Suggestion)
-
EC: Yes, we have the body here - this we have had before.
-
As we find, developments are very well in many directions.
-
However, if there is the continued strain produced upon the system, as well as upon the foetus - through the drainages from the system through the Periods, there will not be allowed normal or nominal developments of same.
-
We find that there should be further tests as to the length of period, through X-Ray, to see the nature of the condition, and to determine as to whether or not it is to be allowed to continue nominally or normally.
-
For, these are not normal conditions - even for the body, under the strains that have existed.
-
As we find, these should be determined - and this very activity in the MAKING of the X-Ray for determining would be a beneficial treatment for the conditions themselves, see?
-
Necessarily, this should NOT be of such a long duration or exposure. It may be determined by the fluoroscope, but would be most SATISFACTORY if made by the shadowgraph.
-
Then, follow such determinations - as to HOW this should be carried on, or whether it should at all or not; and as to what to do about same may be best determined through SUCH measures.
-
The indications and the tests, from the very natures that have existed, would show that there are not normal conditions, not a normal pregnancy.
-
Ready for questions.
-
(Q) How far advanced is my condition? (A) The condition is advanced as has been indicated, but the DEVELOPMENT of same - as to the proportions and all - is less than a month in size or form, or not more than two months.
-
(Q) Would a trip to Virginia Beach be in any way harmful to me? (A) This would depend upon the manner in which same was taken! It would not be able to ride such a distance. Train might be very well, or plane.
-
(Q) Any further advice at this time? (A) Do these in these indicated manners, not only for the satisfaction of self but for the determining as to what course to pursue; for it MUST be under the supervision of those that may handle same in an institution.
-
We are through for the present.

R1. 8/8/38 Letter: “Thank you so much for the reading…
“Naturally I was completely taken back by the information and I immediately took the reading to Dr. Haynes. (It was the first one he’d ever read and the expression on his face as he read was an EXPERIENCE.)
“He has felt all along that I’m not pregnant - but allowed for the possibility that he might be wrong. He said he simply couldn’t say that I WAS pregnant until he could find symptoms - even one - that pointed to that conclusion and so far he can’t find any.
“He read it over and over and said finally - ‘I just don’t know what to make of it - it sounds logical but I can’t understand why I can’t locate this evidence if it’s there.’
“He seemed to think that the x-ray wouldn’t show anything at this early stage of development that the reading indicated. He is positively against the idea of a curettement. Unless, of course, anything comes up to indicate that such is necessary. Then in that event he says he’d be the first to propose such measures. [1005] talked to him the night my reading came and they seemed to reach an agreement.
“Frankly, I’m completely baffled by all this.
“I told him that I wanted to have the x-ray made anyway - that I was going to follow the reading. He was interested in what the picture would show but was thinking of the expense to us and the probability that it wouldn’t help us. However, he called Dr. Gary and as he said he would do explained our financial condition, etc., and ‘chiseled the price’ for us.
“I went in today and had the picture made and it didn’t show anything that we could use at that time. Dr. Gary said, though, that as the picture ‘set’ things often show up that aren’t apparent when the picture is just made. We looked at it while it was still wet. He had a call to make and so I couldn’t wait for it.
“He gave me a thorough examination, too, and he couldn’t find any symptoms of pregnancy. He said, though, that there was only one thing to do and that was to wait and see what developments took place. Said these conditions often fool a person. He thinks, though, that I’m not pregnant. And that is how the matter stands. Says he’ll be able to tell more about the picture in the morning. So, I’m just waiting. Don’t know anything else to do.
“Dr. Haynes asked me to have another reading and gave me the enclosed questions to ask. He admits the possibility of the foetus removing itself in a natural manner if it is not to develop in a normal manner. He says that he believes that is what will happen if I really am pregnant, if it hasn’t already.
“The above may sound complicated but that’s the way I have it from him.
“So when you have checks again will you add me? and ask the following questions please: Am I still pregnant? [See 23-13.]
“This is the strangest sort of experience. We never dream such things can happen to US. And I feel so good physically
- naturally I’m worried and I tire much quicker than usual but aside from that I still feel grand.”
