GC: You will give the physical condition of this body at the present time, with suggestions for the improvement and relief of same, and you will answer the questions regarding same that I will ask you.
-
EC: We have the body here - we have had this before, you see.
-
Now, we find while there are some changes in the physical forces of this body from that as we have had here before which have not been for the betterment, had those corrections in the adjustments for the body been carried out we would find quite a different reaction in the system.
-
Now, these are the conditions to be met at the present time:
-
Those corrections as were given as necessary for the betterment of the body, through the adjustments and manipulation along the cerebro-spinal system, SHOULD be carried out, for with these will come the better reaction to the whole system and the body will find that the tired dullness as appears often with the body would be relieved, also those conditions wherein congestion shows from time to time through the contraction of the action in the system that governs sympathetically the respiratory system. Hence the inclination for the body to apparently continue to feel irritation in the throat and bronchials, and the spittle from same is of the nature to show that it is the lack of proper eliminations through the normal channel, hindered by subligations in the cerebro-spinal system.
-
Well, too, for the body to add with this (if the adjustments are taken - be of little use if they are not, though would keep down irritation without it, but better with the corrections made) the inhalant as prepared in this manner - not taken internally, but inhaled when the body is ready to retire or when the body rises in the morning, or when irritation occurs during the night. To four (4) ounces of grain alcohol, add:
Eucalyptol…20 minims, Rectified Creosote…5 minims, Canadian Balsam…10 minims, Rectified Oil of Turp…10 minims, Benzoin…15 minims, Tincture of Tolu in Solution…30 minims.
-
Keep the solution in a container twice the size of the quantity, with a glass stopper. Shake solution before the deep inhalations are made from this container, excluding as much air as possible and inhaling only the fumes and gas as created by the stirring or the shaking up of solution.
-
For the condition as is seen in the mesenteric system, and the trouble as experienced with the body in this manner, well that that of the salve [Tim for hemorrhoids] be used, as the rectum shows irritation from the system showing congestion or laxness. This would remove irritation by the use of this, being injected in the rectum after each stool, see? a small quantity on finger or swab may be applied to these protruding parts, or in the mouth or end of rectum, see?
-
Also we would take OCCASIONALLY - once a day, or once every other day - a good swallow of a preparation of this:
-
Take six (6) ounces of horehound. To this add eight (8) ounces distilled water. Reduce by simmering (not boiling) to one-half the quantity. Then dissolve one (1) ounce of rock candy in two (2) ounces of eighty-five percent (85%) alcohol, see? adding solutions together. Then add to this - after this has been compounded together -
Oil of Sassafras…5 minims, Oil of Peppermint…5 minims, Senna…1 grain.
-
Shake this Solution together, and let the dose be taken of a teaspoonful, see, once a day or once every other day, whenever necessary for the system to complete digestion throughout the whole of the mesenteric system.
-
Have the adjustments made first. Then use the other properties as have been given. Do that.
-
(Q) How many adjustments should be made? (A) At least thirteen (13).
-
(Q) What caused pain just under left shoulder, and what will relieve same? (A) The pressure as is seen produced there from contraction in the nerve system, and the reaction to the cardiac central nerves, or secondary cardiac central nerves.
-
(Q) What causes cough? (A) This irritation produced in bronchials from secondary cardiac reflexes. Do as we have given here, and we will bring better conditions to this body of [244].
-
We are through with this reading.
Reports
Reports & Follow-up
R1. 10/5/27 EC wrote advising that he go to Dr. James E. Oldham, D.O., for the osteopathic adjustments.
R2. 10/14/27 EC wrote that if not Dr. Oldham, perhaps he could get the proper treatments from Dr. Andrew Sargent, D.C.
R3. 3/21/28 He wrote: “I have taken about eight treatments or adjustments but, as you know, Dr. Sargent’s office and equipment was entirely lost by the fire. I think he was doing me some good, in fact I felt better. He has never stopped the spittle from coming up in my mouth, something like a sugar tree in spring of year and mighty thick. Everybody had better move, for I am a spitter. Still have a cough. In fact, I have a dreadful cold at this time. My neck is very stiff. Dr. Sargent says that it will get better as I take the adjustments.”
R4. l0/4/28 He wrote: “Wife [3773] and I are enjoying kind of poor health. We are sure getting old and full of complaints.”
R5. 8/10/29 He wrote: “It is something of a task for me to write. My arm is just a little better. Three months of neuritis is too much for me. I want you to give me another rdg. I am anxious to have it. Dr. Caudle said to me, ‘I have tried the remedies we have for your case and they have yielded too slow; the medication hasn’t done what we think it ought to do.’ There is something wrong. They haven’t found it. Please go over my body from head to foot and see if you can relieve me of the suffering I am going through with. I have gotten so nervous, I spend many sleepless nights, and I must get relief now.”
R6. 8/15/29 EC wrote that due to appointments ahead it would be impossible - to get the rdg. until sometime in Oct. or November, as it was necessary to give preference to patients in the Cayce Hospital:
“The thing you should do is to get on the train and come up here and stay at the hospital - and get RID of this trouble. That would be the best way. Then, you know you will get the treatments as they are suggested.”
R7. 3/24/30 He wired: “Write me a reading of my throat, lungs and body and prescribe.”
R8. 3/26/30 He wrote: “I have been troubled with a thick mucous coming in my throat for about two years or more, and have suffered with neuritis in my shoulders about two years or more. My throat is very red and much inflamed. I have never been able to wear my teeth on account of the mucus coming in my mouth in such quantities continually spitting and coughing. Dr. Caudle said to me ‘I just can’t say the cause of this trouble and I don’t feel like giving something unless I know what it is for.’ He is anxious to know why it is I am having this trouble”
R9. 4/1/30 He obtained Ck. Physical Rdg. 244-4.

B2. 9/26/27 He wrote: “I thank you for the help you have given me in my illness in the past. I have been doing some better the last few days. You will see just what is the trouble with me. Please take note of pain just under my left shoulder, cough, and thick saliva all the time. I thank you for your trouble and interest you have always taken in me and the help you have given my body.”
