This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at the office of the Association, Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 20th day of March, 1942, in accordance with request made by the self - Mr. [2642], and by Dr. E. W. Hubbard, through Associate Membership of his sister, Mrs. […] in the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc. This is a sponsored Reading.
[Edgar Cayce; Gertrude Cayce, Conductor; Gladys Davis, Steno.]
Time of Reading 3:45 to 3:55 P. M. Eastern War Time. New York City.
-
GC: You will give the physical condition of this body at the present time, with suggestions for further corrective measures; answering the questions, as I ask them:
-
EC: Yes, we have the body here, [2642], this we have had before.
-
While there is not a great deal of change in the GENERAL physical conditions and in the mental reactions, we find that what change there has been is toward betterment.
-
But, until there can be the DETERMINATION in the body-mind of [2642] or such measures taken as to FORCE some consistency in the applications suggested, we find that no great help can come - as we have before outlined.
-
The use of the rubs, systematically and consistently given, WILL be the most helpful.
-
There may be added the Chloride of Gold treatments. These may be taken by mouth, under the supervision of a nurse or a physician. Prepare a Chloride of Gold Solution and a Bromide of Soda Solution; these to be kept separate until the dosage is to be taken.
-
The Gold Solution would be in the proportions of one grain Chloride of Gold to one ounce of Distilled Water.
-
The Soda Solution would be in the proportions of three grains Bromide of Soda to one ounce of Distilled Water.
-
When the dose is to be taken, which would be each evening, take one drop of the Gold Solution and two drops of the Soda Solution stirred together in a half a glass of water - and drink immediately; do not let it stand after being mixed.
-
This, now, will add to the activity of the nerve and mental forces, and will in the beginning cause those reactions that may produce more violent reflexes.
-
But if the rubs are consistently given, and there is the attempt on the body’s part to respond, we find that there may be help.
-
The body expresses the desire to do something. Then:
-
Read the 30th of Deuteronomy, the 14th, 15th, 16th and 17th of John. Learn them by heart. Make them thine own life. Make them thy relationships to others.
-
And these will aid in balancing the reflexes and the reactions mentally AND physically.
-
But be consistent, - don’t change from this or that. Give each treatment the opportunity to react.
-
And USE the abilities constructively; not in a manner as to cause more consternation in the minds of others. DON’T BLAME OTHERS! BLAME SELF FOR NOT taking those precautions, and for the abuse of self, and for self-indulgences!
-
Then meet self, and ye may yet accomplish much.
-
Ready for questions.
-
(Q) Can the proper treatment be secured at Woodscourt (Dr. Wadsworth’s Sanatarium), in South Norwalk, Conn.? (A) Be secured anywhere if they will give what is suggested!
But there MUST be consistency; not do it two or three days and then decide it doesn’t make you feel good and quit! It will require at least three to four weeks of consistency, and EACH day a study of self - and take the time to do it!
- We are through with this Reading.

Mr. Edgar Cayce, Virginia Beach, Virginia
Dear Mr. Cayce:
I am anxious to confide in you.
After I received your second reading last March, which you so kindly made for me, I finally persuaded my aunt to send seventy-five dollars to my mother so I could have some massages as you had advised but my sister, Mrs. […], got hold of the check and wouldn’t let me have it, so I couldn’t have the massages.
I put in several very trying and unhappy months up north, and finally, last August, my other sister paid my mother’s fare back here on the train, and I sold my watch and pawned some clothes and got a ticket to come back here on the bus.
I have been trying to do some work in a printing shop, but I still feel very miserable, and my aunt has been paying for my food for the most part.
I am deeply grateful for all you have done for me, and I am profoundly sorry that I didn’t seem to be able to carry out your program better - there have been so many complications.
I am very anxious to do some good with my life. I have struggled so long and I still feel I can do some good in the world if I can only improve in health. I should be out in the world making money to help support my mother. My aunt doesn’t have much and is quite worried, and really can’t afford to help me for long.
My sister meant well, I trust, but she is so excitable and erratic and undependable that she got my mother and me into a lot of commotion, and she did not cooperate at all to help me carry out your second reading.
Will you PLEASE HAVE MERCY ON ME, AND ON MY DEAR MOTHER, who is old and forgetful, but who is devoted to me and longs to see me well, - and please let me have ANOTHER reading, and see if some treatment will be advised which I can carry out better?
After I got down here to Lakeland, I started to have massage from a naturopath here, but he did not give it like Mrs. Townsend and it didn’t seem to have the same effect.
Dear Mr. Cayce - I am deeply repentant for whatever sins I have been responsible for in my life, - I feel I have been fundamentally idealistic and generous. Please have mercy on me once more and let me have another reading, to SEE if things can’t be worked out better this time. Maybe something will be proposed which will fit in better with my situation.
Please have mercy on me, - I’ll try to repay you as soon as possible and I know God will bless you.
This naturopath here in town will try to carry out what you suggest. His name is Dr. J. P. Massaia [Jos. C. Messea, N.D.], and he lives at 210 South Tennessee Ave.
It seems to me there is no need to send my sister anything about a reading because she feels that my troubles are all imaginary.
Dear Mr. Cayce, - please have mercy on me, in God’s name. I AM IN GREAT PHYSICAL DISTRESS AND MENTAL ANGUISH. Please help me to get out of the terrible strain I have been under.
I am deeply grateful for all you have done, and very humble too.
Please please help me in God’s name and for my mother’s sake.
If I can only get well I’LL SHOW YOU HOW GRATEFUL I AM AND WILL DEDICATE MY LIFE TO GOD.
PLEASE HAVE MERCY ON ME. I KNOW GOD WILL BLESS YOU.
Humbly and gratefully, [2642]
P.S.: If you will have mercy on me and set a date for a reading, I’ll be here whatever time you set. Will you please let me have one soon.

QUESTIONS.
1.) Are there not some special foods or preparations which would help my assimilation, and help me gain strength & energy? Will lecithin help, or in combination?
2.) Head feels tired and aches; some of the massages have seemed to make me very restless and nervously unstrung, and I get frightened for fear I might lose my wits or self-control. Is there some treatment other than massage which can be recommended, which would not seem to make me uneasy? I am in a state of anxiety as it is. Massage seems futile now, and I have had difficulty finding someone to give it properly.
3.) Can something be done to improve my coordination and concentration? It is difficult to apply myself to anything with my head so dull.
4.) Can something be done to relieve my eyes which were seriously strained in 1936? Is not this eye strain related to my poor metabolism? Would glasses help?
5.) I cannot help wondering how much my condition is due to falls I have had, how much to unwise medical treatment, and how much to various mental and nervous and emotional shocks and strains.
6.) Is it not true that chiropractic treatment is sometimes helpful for my neck and pelvis and sometimes for my back?
7.) I have been told I have wasted tissue and that my cerebellum is impaired. Is this true and how can it best be remedied?
8.) I am hoping I can get well here in Central Florida, as I lack the financial means to go elsewhere.
9.) Is there something I can do to foster my faith and to regain my self-confidence and spontaneity and poise? I have been tense and worried and without animation.
