This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at his home on Arctic Crescent, Va. Beach, Va., this 3rd day of Dec., 1932, in accordance with request made by self - Mrs. [272], Active Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc.

Time of Reading 4:00 to 4:15 P. M. Eastern Standard Time. …, Alabama. (Physical Suggestion)

1. EC: Yes, we have the body and those conditions that have disturbed and do disturb the body; these we have had before.

2. While there are still evidences of infections in the system, the general condition in many respects is somewhat better than when we had it before.

3. As we would find in the present, in meeting the conditions for the betterment of the body:

4. Curette the disturbances in and with the organs of gestation.

5. Keep the douches to care for the discharges, using an antiseptic solution of one teaspoonful of creolin to the gallon of lukewarm water.

6. Use the foods that do not carry proteins or fats of any nature.

7. At least twice each day take internally those properties of the Atomidine, that will aid in assisting the functioning of the organs to combat the inroads of these disturbing forces. Take from five to eight minims in half a glass of water at each dose.

8. Ready for questions.

9. These, we find, would bring about much better conditions for the body. With this eradication, when there has been sufficient of the eliminations and sufficient of the stimulation to certain portions of the system from the Atomidine, these will necessarily have to be changed, that the elements in the system be kept in sufficient balance to prevent there becoming too great a strain on the organs of elimination.

11. (Q) Where are the G.C. germs now? (A) As indicated from that given, they are affecting primarily the organs of gestation.

12. (Q) Would another electrical diathermacy treatment of the cervix get them? (A) As we find, this would not be as helpful as the curetting and the douches - that DESTROY the germ, preventing any of the effluvia or discharge from producing irritation; and the taking into the system of those properties given.

The other applications later would depend upon how effective the action of the properties given has been upon the organs of elimination. The activity of the Atomidine and the excess of iodine in system will so deaden the germ cells as to require the throwing off in elimination. This will so stimulate some of the other glands that it will be necessary for the changing in twenty to twenty-six days. See?

13. (Q) Would I get rid of these germs if I had the tubes and uterus taken out? (A) Better that, before the system is so overrun by the poisons, the manner as outlined be carried out; for these being localized they would become too much distributed through the system.

14. (Q) Please tell me what doctor in Birmingham, or in the U.S. for that matter, could give me entire relief? (A) That one who has given or will give the curettion, and that will make for the activities necessary. The other treatments can be taken by self, see?

15. (Q) Would the operation which the doctor spoke of for me to be able to have an orgasm at the proper time and way, be advisable; or would I be in a worse condition than I am now in? (A) Be in a worse condition; for, as we have outlined, it would be well to do as we have given - see? The curettion for those conditions in the organs of the pelvis, keeping the douches at least once a day, evenings preferably, that there be no infection and that there is allowed to be kept the reactions properly; taking into the system that which will destroy - and this is not too severe, neither will it be harmful to the body.

16. (Q) Will this treatment get rid of this condition entirely? (A) It will so PREPARE the body that in those applications which may be set for the BALANCING of the system it may be ridded entirely.

Dear Mr. Cayce,

I was disappointed in the indefinite way in which you answered my questions. Probably you had a reason for answering them in that manner. I can read two meanings in the answers and that meaning could almost be interpreted in any way. I am still at a loss to know what to do. I presume that I should continue just about as I have been doing.

As for my life reading, I was born May 3, 1898 in …

In my last letter I asked about all the questions I want to. You won’t answer only the ones you want to anyway. So why ask a lot of questions? There has been reported hidden money on my father’s farm, one and one-half miles west of Larkinsville, Ala. I would like for you to help me find it, but you will make some excuse and not tell me a thing about it.

I would have never written to you if it had not been for your friend, Mr. William E. Bohanan, who said that you were very capable in this kind of work, when you would do it.

As I said before, are you afraid that I will sue you? I will not do that if you wish me to assure you.

R2. 12/28/32 GD’s letter:

Mr. Cayce has had to be away for a few days, so I am answering your letter of the 10th.

Your last reading [272-3] seemed to me very definite, but I suppose I don’t understand all the circumstances as you do. Probably the curettion comes under the head of what you are already having done, but the other suggestions are very definite. Are you following the diet outlined (that is, without proteins and fats) and using the douches as described? Also, have you begun the Atomidine. I think you may obtain a bottle of Atomidine at your local druggist’s; if not, it is manufactured by Schieffelin and Co., New York, and he can obtain it there. Do not take as prescribed on the bottle, but as given in the reading - five to eight drops in half a glass of water twice a day. This has proven very helpful to all those who have taken it as suggested in readings.

I notice that after taking this for twenty-six days you are to have further suggestions through a reading. I am sure Mr. Cayce would be glad to make this reading without any further expense to you; so if you will let me know when the twenty-six days will be up I will be glad to make another appointment for you.

During the Christmas rush we have been unable to get to the other questions you submitted, but as we do not have to know the exact address at which you will be for this appointment, we can get them at the first opportunity - which we will do and mail the results direct to you.

By the way, I have a cousin in Birmingham who is a trained nurse. [Miss Elsie Swindall] She was here for several months and had direct contact with Mr. Cayce’s readings and their results. I feel that you might like to get in touch with her and have her go over your readings with you. If so, I shall be glad to give you her name and address.

R3. 12/30/32 She wrote to GD:

Miss Gladys Davis, Virginia Beach, Va.

Dear Miss Davis:-

Your letter was very much appreciated and it has cleared up some of the obscure places in the reading by Mr. Cayce. For this I am very grateful to you.

A local druggist is getting the Atomidine for me, and I shall take it as directed. I am glad that you told me to take it for twenty-six days, as I did not get this from the reading. I did not understand the meaning of the twenty-six days. I will be glad to write you at the expiration of this time.

I would be more than delighted to know your cousin in Birmingham. I would like to talk to her about the reading. If you will give me her name and address, I will get in touch with her.

R4. 1/12/33 She wrote to EC:

If you haven’t made my last rdg., the Life one, please do not make it until later.

The doctor told me today that my tubes were infected and that I would have to be operated on. I’m thinking of letting him take my tubes out right away or very soon. I wish you had told me that in my rdg.

I had rather my husband would not get [receive] my Life Rdg.

R5. 1/17/33 She wrote EC:

Let me thank Miss Davis for her kind letter of January 13, and also tell her that I enjoyed my visit with her cousin, Miss Swindall, last Saturday.

My last letter was rather sudden as I had just been advised to have my tubes taken out by Dr. Stabler. My first impulse was to have it done quickly. Then after deliberation I decided to wait. I had resolved to follow your suggestions of Dec. 3, but found that I was unable to do so. Dr. Stabler said that to curette the uterus would not get rid of the infection, but would probably scatter it, as the tubes were swollen and infected. So he will not give me the curettement. As to the douches, I am using an antiseptic Dr. Stabler prescribed. Should I stop it and get Creolin, as you suggested? As to the diet, I am trying to leave off fats and proteins; but that is hard to do as most foods contain a certain percent of both. However I am leaving off the meats, eggs, cheese and the like and trying to eat whole wheat, vegetables and fruits. It was difficult to obtain the Atomidine, but I have taken it as you suggested now ever since January 10.

I fear, I am not following the suggestions close enough. I wish I had a Dr. who would cooperate with your suggestions and one who believed in your work.

The answer to question 3 of your reading of Dec. 3 [272-3, Par. 13-A] gave me to understand that following your suggestion would be better than having the tubes and uterus taken out.

As I stated before, I am trying to follow your suggestions; but feel my inability to do so. I pray God that I may follow the right suggestions and with help that I may have complete relief.

I enjoyed reading and certainly appreciated Miss Davis sending the article on “Life Readings”. One’s life is so complex, I can’t, and don’t suppose I ever will understand all our impulses, doubts, fears, and desires. I agree with Miss Davis when she said that for several years I have had certain trials without any possibility of relief, seemingly. I have had others not of a physical nature too. My great sincere desire and prayer is that I may do the right thing and not make a complete wreck of my life, and be of the most service in the world of which I am capable. Thus it is to you I have been appealing for some hope of a suggestion as to how I should conduct myself under these circumstances. I had been very religious and faithful at church attendance until several years ago. I am still a devout believer, but my church duties have been neglected. My physical condition has been a part of the cause of this. Then, should I say this, my husband does not wish to take part in the church work, and talks about the Bible, church, and the church people in such a way that it hurts my feelings. Pardon this bit of personal reference.

I have told all this in order to try to explain the reason for my wishing for a Life Reading. It seemed to me, that I was out of harmony with my natural sphere and did not know how to re-adjust myself to my surroundings. Some definite suggestions would be more than appreciated.

I prefer the full Life Reading from my understanding of the work. I shall await it with the deepest anticipation. You may send it at your convenience, as I will be at home. That is so far as I know.

Let me say that I appreciate the delay and the correspondence I have had with you, and I hope it will help in obtaining a better understanding of the case both on my part and on yours too.

Could I tell you anything more that would be of help to you in obtaining a reading?

I would be simply delighted if you could make a trip to Birmingham and I could have a talk with you. Be sure to let me know when you expect to make the trip.

I will be glad to write you when my twenty-six days are up in the taking of the Atomidine.

R6. 1/21/33 EC’s letter:

Just a few days ago I wrote to you, but having rec’d yours of the 17th I would like to reply at once.

Both Miss Davis and I appreciate what you say about the information, and I am sure you enjoyed your visit with Miss Swindall. We all here think so much of her, and have always considered her such a lovely person. I have known her since she was a very small child.

Now, as to Dr. Stabler’s advice - I am sure you recognize the fact that more often than otherwise we find the medical profession disagreeing with the advice given through the readings. There are times when they agree, but more often not.

I would suggest that you talk to Dr. Percy Woodall (D.O.). While he is a medical man AND an osteopath, not a surgeon, I am sure he will know which man would be the proper one to follow the reading. Dr. Woodall is well thought of in B’ham, and knows considerable about the readings. He has treated quite a number of cases in accordance with suggestions made in the readings, and with most wonderful results. You might tell him you have had the reading, and that you wish to follow it. Possibly he doesn’t do that kind of treating, but he can refer you to one who will.

Then, I would advise that you follow out every suggestion in the reading as given - even to changing the antiseptic in the douche to creolin. The experience which I am giving below will give you an idea as to how important it is to follow each suggestion given, to the letter.

A couple came here from Johns Hopkins a few months ago. The lady [Mrs. [4125]] had been in hospitals in N.Y., Philadelphia, Baltimore and D.C. In every case the doctors came to the conclusion that nothing could be done; in fact, they told her husband to travel with her as long as his money lasted, then to leave her somewhere. As the husband said to me later, he didn’t know whether it was best to let her go in the ocean or to give her an overdose of the medicine which had been given for her. Someone induced them to have a rdg. They carried it to a physician in Norfolk [M. L. Richardson, D.O.] who had already had some experience with following the readings. When they asked him what he thought of her condition, he only said: ‘My report would be very much like the ones you have from Baltimore and D.C., but we will follow the reading exactly and see what happens.’ He treated her for two months. I saw him after that (when the lady was well again and back home). He said to me, ‘Cayce, I understand you don’t know what this is you do in the readings. I don’t know either, but I have eight to ten cases I am treating now according to your suggestions - and there’s not a single one of them that isn’t getting the results promised. Some of them, as the readings said, can be helped, others cured entirely. I am willing to stake what little reputation I have on the fact, that if a person comes sincerely seeking - and if any doctor will follow the outline given through the reading, to the letter, not adding one iota nor taking one iota from it - the results will be obtained.’

This man [M. L. Richardson, D.O.] is considered an authority in the osteopathic profession, as well as in the medical in certain types of surgery osteopathic finger surgery]; he was a teacher both in the osteopathic school and in the medical school [Philadelphia?].

That’s why I have been so anxious, Mrs. [272], through all this awful trial of yours, that you at least for a little period get ALL the readings give, JUST what they give and no more, no less; all they give - and then see what happens! Many reports are coming in from day to day, and have been through the years, from those who have gotten most marvellous results. You can, too!

Of course, just to use the Atomidine and not have the curetting done may localize the condition more and more. While, as Dr. Stabler said, the curetting might distribute the condition in your system, the Atomidine is for the very purpose of assisting every gland to secrete the necessary elements to eliminate that which would be destructive to any portion of the system! Now, if the condition isn’t distributed in the system through the curetting, and the glands - through the Atomidine attempt to create that which would eliminate destructive forces coming to them from some portion of the system that has been scattered - and it’s not there; then, can you expect to get exactly the results promised? That’s why I would advise that you consult with Dr. Woodall, because he knows the [our] work - and I am sure you will find him a wonderful man; I believe he would be glad to talk with you.

There are a number of medical men there who have contacted this work from time to time, but it has been so long since I have been in direct touch with them that I would hesitate to recommend them, not knowing now exactly how they feel.

Do you know Dr. Talley? [M.D.] He could advise with you, as he knows the readings - he studied them for several years. He is also a surgeon.

I would advise, then, that you see both of these men; preferably Dr. Woodall first.

Now, LET’S SEE if we can’t get results!

I certainly hope that we will be able to get something in the Life Rdg. that will be very much worth while to you. We hope to send this rdg. to you sometime during the early part of the coming week.

R7. 1/22/33 Miss Elsie Swindall’s letter to GD:

Mrs. [272] is all upset - said she is pulled in every direction…she doesn’t know whether to follow Mr. Cayce’s reading or go by the doctor’s advice. I told her of some of the wonderful things I have seen Mr. Cayce do for people and that I knew she would get results if she followed out the reading. I just hope she will make up her mind to follow it, and I believe she will. At least when she left me she seemed inclined that way. I am going to get in touch with you again if possible and find out just what she is doing, and if she has ever had the operation [curettment] as advised in the rdg. She seems to be a very lovely person and for the first meeting I liked her very much.

R9. 2/5/33 [272] wrote EC:

Mr. Edgar Cayce Virginia Beach, Va.

Dear Mr. Cayce:-

My taking of the Atomidine for 26 Days, twice a day, five to eight drops at a time was up yesterday, February 4. I am using the Creolin douches. I failed to be able to have the currettment carried out. I went to see Dr. Woodall, as you suggested. He was unfavorable toward the currettment, but talked very sympathetic and kind; speaking very complimentary of your work. I have not seen Dr. Talley. Since he is a surgeon, I thought that he would be more inclined toward the surgical field.

I am feeling better, but not entirely well. I still have a discharge and rhumatic pains in my fingers and knees.

Dr. Black read in the medical journal a report of the work of some doctors in Berlin who had vaccinated the patients with G.C. vaccine directly in the tissues of the cervix. He is thinking of trying this on me. Would it be advisible? He said that he might start it next Friday, February 10.

One is told so much until it is confusing. I am trying to improve myself and your suggestions will help me greatly. I am eagerly waiting your letter concerning my health and the one about my Life Reading.

R10. 2/9/33 EC’s letter:

Yours of the 5th has just been received. Miss Gladys, I think, has sent to you the interpretation she has made of the information given in your Life Reading. I hope this will be of help.

I do not feel that I am consciously qualified to give you the advice you ask for, though I assure you I would be very glad to give a check-physical reading at this time to see just what would be recommended. However, from the past information we have had, I do not consider it necessary for an operation; though it might be that the vaccine would be the very thing - or it might not be in this particular case.

We can make the appointment for the early part of the week - say Monday or Tuesday, if you will wire us the address at which you will be. But, of course, if you have already begun with the new treatment, a reading would not be advisable until later - when you have seen what results have been obtained.

I can well understand how confused you must be from time to time, with so many telling you different things; your anxiety and desire to be rid of all these conditions as quickly as possible makes it more confusing.

But let us know IF you desire that the check-reading be undertaken Monday or Tuesday, and if so tell us the address at which you will be.
