GC: You will have before you the body of [2744], at the Hartford Retreat, Hartford, Conn. You will answer the questions that have been submitted concerning her condition, as I ask them:
-
EC: Yes, we have the body here, [2744]; this we have had before.
-
There are many changes in the general physical and mental forces since last we had same here.
-
Ready for questions.
-
(Q) What caused the condition? (A) As we find, and as we have indicated for the body, there were and are pressures that exist from those happenings at the time of childbirth. This pressure upon the centers - the end of the spine and in the lumbar and sacral-ileum axis - has produced those tendencies for deterioration of nerve reflexes.
These conditions, as we find, will NOT respond to purely medical or drug reaction. There is the NECESSITY of the causes being removed, or the sources, if there would be any permanent help to the body.
Hence we find that if the body were changed from the present environs, gradually leaving off the sedatives and removing the pressures - which might be done in the osteopathic sanitarium at Macon, Missouri, there might be responses sufficient to regenerate and build the body back to near normalcy. Thus the body might have the abilities to resume many - or most - of its responsibilities, and it become as a helpful association with the family; rather than there being a constant question in their minds as well as in the body’s itself.
It is true that unless there is the ability to relieve this pressure soon, there may be the necessity to give the body the vibratory metals - or the metallic reaction from gold - to aid the system in responding, for the nerves to the plasm in nerve tissue itself, AND to prevent softening or deterioration to brain cells. It is NOT a condition of brain tumors, though some of these MAY arise unless there is an even circulation of nerve impulse AND blood supply builded in the body.
- (Q) If removed to Macon, is there any special direction to those in charge? (A) The pressures as we have indicated will be found to be existent. There should be the consideration of the first information we gave, for the corrections were never made properly. And this present information combined with same would indicate the condition existent through the pelvic, the coccyx AND the sacral and lumbar areas especially; though, to be sure, in the present there are lesions also in the upper portion of the spine.
Care, prayer, AND the better surroundings, would make for much quicker response for this body.
-
(Q) Approximately how long would it take to correct the pressures? (A) This depends entirely upon the response, you see, and as to how soon this would be begun.
-
(Q) Would it be advisable to take her home and try a method of cure? (A) This, as indicated, would not be safe for the body, and makes a hardship on those ABOUT the body. There’s as much necessary in the attitude and in the minds of those about the body, or this is a part of that necessary to bring about bettered conditions for the body, see?
WE would advise taking the body as soon as practical (and the sooner the better) to Macon, Missouri, and combine the suggestions here with those formerly indicated for correction; and later, if desired, further directions may be given from here - if there would be obtained better results.
- We are through for the present.

Reports & Follow-up
R1. 5/8/42 GD’s note: According to the Reading today, [2744-3], the instructions given in the 1928 Reading [2744-1] were not carried out; consequently the detrimental effects warned about eventually came.
After she is established at Still-Hildreth, the indication is given in the Reading today that Dr. Still - or the one in charge of her case there - could write for a Check Reading to give specific instructions as to the use of Gold vibratorially, to rebuild nerve cells.
R2. 6/6/42 Dr. Still’s letter to EC:
Mr. Edgar Cayce Virginia Beach, Va.
Dear Mr. Cayce:
I want to thank you for your recent letter. We have already had communications with Mr. [[2744]‘s husband] as well as Mr. [257] of New York City, and if Mr. […] brings his wife to Macon we will be glad to do everything we can for her.
There are several very competent osteopathic physicians in Chicago from Kirksville.
Dr. O. C. Foreman, 58 East Washington; Dr. S. V. Robuck, 25 East Washington; Dr. E. W. Reichert, 27 East Monroe.
All of these individuals are well qualified and have been in practice for a number of years.
I am interested in the machine you mentioned [for Miss [2721]] and if it is not asking too much I wish you would have the young man who makes these machines write us and explain the principles involved, as there is a possibility we may have already had some experience with something along a similar line.
Thanking you again for your many courtesies, I am
Sincerely, [signed] F. M. Still, D.O., Superintendent [fms;m]
R3. 6/10/42 EC’s letter:
Dr. F. M. Still Macon, Mo.
Dear Dr. Still;-
Thank you for yours of the 6th - hope Mrs. [2744] is sent to you, am sure you can be of a real help to her there, tho the condition dates back to the birth of the first child am sure, from the information we had.
Thank you also for the addresses of the Dr’s in Chicago, will pass this on and hope to have the people there taken care of by one of them.
Spoke to the young man who makes the Appliances last evening, he will send you what data he has and one of the appliances to try out if you see fit for Miss [2721].
The information presented these and others character of appliances years ago, and never in our experience has there one been used that the individual hasn’t gotten results from same, one was given several years ago for some child in Philadelphia, [4613] the parents had had the child abroad, such remarkable results were gotten with the appliance, the father wrote the Dr. in Vienna and he came to Amer. and carried the appliance home with him.
Think you will be interested in the results one can obtain with the crude but effective appliance.
Thanking you again,
Sincerely, Edgar Cayce
