This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at the office of the Association, Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 3rd day of July, 1942, in accordance with request made by the self Miss [2777], new Associate Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc.
[Edgar Cayce; Gertrude Cayce, Conductor; Gladys Davis, Steno.]
Time of Reading 3:50 to 4:05 P. M. Eastern War Time. New York City.
-
GC: You will go over this body carefully, examine it thoroughly, and tell me the conditions you find at the present time; giving the cause of the existing conditions, also suggestions for help and relief of this body; answering the questions, as I ask them.
-
EC: Yes, we have the body here.
-
As we find, there are those complications of disturbances that produce the greater reaction - from glandular forces.
-
These are a combination of those periods of activities, or changes in the body, as well as those disturbances arising partially (as may be allowable) in the meeting of self through karmic conditions.
-
Thus, with the periods AND the unbalance in the chemical forces of the body, we find in part a sclerosis condition in the activities through the system.
-
Thus the weakness experienced in limbs, the periods when there is utter exhaustion to the body, the inabilities for those activities that are desired at times.
-
Hence we find a very poor activity through the assimilating forces, lacking in the abilities of the glands to reproduce those vital forces that make for the reaction in the nerve forces themselves, - or the elasticity or strength or resistance in the nerve plasm.
-
So, the gray matter in nerve forces becomes more as the plasm, rather than the flow in same that produces energizing effects.
-
These, as we have indicated, arise from the combinations of, first, it might be said, karmic conditions, then an unbalanced chemical force, and then the period of change in the glandular forces.
-
Hence little response as yet has been made to the ordinary influences upon the body.
-
The blood becoming rather weak, then the organs of the system respond in the same way and manner; while the activities to the nerves of the sensory forces are not impaired yet may become a part of the disturbances, dependent upon the manner in which the body allows itself from the mental forces to react to same.
-
Those activities as related to the organs all become somewhat involved.
-
But primarily, as we find, those affected are the liver and the nervous systems of the body.
-
In making application for beneficial effects, first, we would purify the mind as to the sources of creative influences. If the body-mind and the body is kept in attune with helpful creative forces, it brings those activities within the self to better attunement to all; never condemning anyone, always hopeful, always optimistic; using the abilities the entity has in making the world, the associations better for the body being in same.
-
Then, in the physical or the pathological reactions, there are those hindrances from the 4th dorsal and the upper portion of the 9th dorsal, and the coordinant centers in the upper dorsal and the cervical area; that may be stimulated osteopathically.
-
In the adjustments, we would have such as Dobbins make same; the lumbar, the upper portion of the 9th dorsal, from the 3rd dorsal to the first cervical.
-
Also, in conjunction with the osteopathic treatments, we would apply the low electrical forces of the Wet Cell Appliance carrying Gold as a stimuli to the body forces, Camphor as a healing force.
-
And if these are kept consistently, we may bring better forces for the body.
-
The Appliance would be used one day with the Gold, the next day with the Camphor, for thirty minutes at each application; each being used every other day, you see.
-
When using the Gold, - the large nickel plate, through which the Gold Solution would pass vibratorially (in the proportions of one grain Chloride of Gold to each ounce of distilled water), would be attached to the umbilical and lacteal duct plexus; that is, three fingers from the navel center to the right, and two fingers up. The small copper plate would be attached to the 9th dorsal. These attachments would be made every other day, you see, for thirty minutes.
-
When using the Camphor, - (and use different connections for the different solutions, you see) the larger nickel plate would be attached in the same area, - that is, to the umbilical and lacteal duct plexus; carrying the commercial strength Spirits of Camphor. The small copper plate would be attached over the 4th lumbar center. These attachments would be made every other day for thirty minutes.
-
The charge for the Appliance should be double the ordinary strength; that is, in these proportions, rather than those usually given:
Copper Sulphate…2 1/2 pounds, Sulphuric Acid C.P…1 3/4 ounces, Zinc…60 grains, Willow Charcoal…1/2 pound.
-
Keep the attachment plates very clean or polished, before and after every application.
-
Change the Gold and Camphor Solutions every fifteen days. Change the charging solution every thirty days.
-
And use the Appliance for at least two charges (that is, sixty days) before we would give further instructions.
-
Do these, and - as we find - we may bring better forces for this body, [2777].
-
Ready for questions.
-
We are through for the present.
Two copies to Self (one for Dr. Frank P. Dobbins, …, N.Y.C.)

Reports
Reports & Follow-up
R1. 7/5/42 [2777]‘s letter to EC:
“I’m so very sorry about my mistake on appointment. I had in mind the fourth of July came on Monday and when you wrote the 3rd, I figured it was Sunday and wrote you for that appointment between 3:30 and 4:30. When I realized my mistake I wired you at once (Saturday) and requested return wire which I have not received, so I don’t know what has been done about the reading. Please let me know at once and if none has been made, set another appointment. I have sent twenty dollars to you. I was not in my room on Friday, the date you set, unless possibly last ten minutes of that time, thinking the appointment was for Sunday, so the contact would not be satisfactory if you tried it then, I am sure. Please correct this as best you can and let me hear from you at once, as I am suffering and need your help badly.
“More power to you and your work. I’m sure I can send others to you and please send on literature for distribution. Now with twenty dollars fee paid, this entitles me to monthly literature, does it not…”
R2. 7/9/42 [2777]‘s letter to EC:
“I have received your report and regret to state that due to my not being at that date at …, and my particular question not touched, the reading does not prove of help to me.
“Did you get my telegram after I noted misunderstanding regarding date? I wrote I’d be here at that hour on Sunday. You gave reading a few days previously, so I wasn’t here.
“I asked regarding the trouble for which I had seen twelve doctors and thought that would cover it when it came to the general reading or the question period. I note from report of no questions put to you then. I cried when I read this for I’ve so needed this help and I cannot afford another reading. I wish you had said the trouble for which I’ve seen so many doctors; specific trouble, not general weakness, etc. The trouble is a discharge from uterus, making me unable to earn my living. I covered it by saying trouble for which I’d seen twelve doctors.
“What can you do about this? Please try to give me even a brief reading and let me know the time, that I may get good out of this twenty dollars, so near to end of my savings. It means everything to me. I know you are working to help and where time was wrong and where my particular question and trouble not touched, I hope you will have a reading to correct this and to help me.
“I need this to work out with my doctor I am now with, who is working blindly while I steadily get worse.
“I can’t afford these special treatments for general glandular trouble. I’ve always had weakness and that, but I asked for reading for this discharge trouble.
“I do ask you help further…”
R3. 7/13/42 [2777]‘s letter to EC:
“Thank you for your letter and kindness in meeting my need with another reading. I do appreciate it, for I’ve treated for two years and doctors don’t even know the trouble, and I’ve been on the point of taking my life time and again.
“Please ask for reading regarding the discharge I have: What I can do for it in simple home treatment, if any, what it is and how I got it.
“I know my general health is low and all that, but I’ve had a lifetime of struggle with it and am adjusted to THAT. It is the special trouble for which I gave up my position; no help and money nearly all gone.
“I know you help many and I know you can me with the above lead. I shall so appreciate it and I shall surely tell others about it; even my last doctor, too, I think. You should be known for your work far and wide. I hope I get literature regularly.
“I will surely be at … Wednesday, July 15th, 3:30 to 4:30 and will await your report with all eagerness.
“Thanking you sincerely…”

B1. 6/17/42 [2777]‘s letter to EC:
“Please respond at once how I can have a reading; price, etc. What accommodations could be made if I went to Virginia Beach and is the trip far from New York? When will you be in New York?
“Can a reading be done from there as well as here? I feel as though I should not afford the trip, as I have been unequal to working for six months and no doctor can help me. So I come to you. My one hope now is here. I’m a working girl and alone and can’t work due to condition…”
B2. 7/2/42 [2777]‘s letter to EC:
“I enclose twenty dollars for reading on Sunday, July 3rd, at time you appointed, 3:30 to 4:30 P.M., EWT. I will be at …, New York City for that hour. Please withhold nothing in report. Please tell cause of trouble, how I got it and the cure. Please report on entire body and cure; and go into detail with my particular trouble for which I’ve seen twelve doctors in two years…”
