This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at the office of the Association, Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 15th day of July, 1942, in accordance with request made by the self - Miss [2777], Associate Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc.

Time of Reading 4:10 to 4:15 P. M. Eastern War Time. New York, N.Y. (Check Physical Suggestion)

1. EC: Yes - we have the body here.

2. As indicated, the disturbances arise with this body from weakness, coming from the general debilitation, - and are to be met in the manner we have outlined for the body.

3. That about which the body is most anxious is a part of the general disturbance. The discharge arises from infectious forces.

4. Now as we find, in addition to that we have suggested for getting at the seat of the general debilitation, we would find these precautions that may be taken by self will be most beneficial:

5. Each evening take a douche, using only a Fountain Syringe, - not a force or spiral syringe. To the first quart and a half of water used (body-temperature), put a teaspoonful of Atomidine, stirring thoroughly. Use this solution as the first douche. Then follow same with a second solution, - putting two tablespoonsful of Glyco-Thymoline to the quart and a half of water, body-temperature. That is, these would be alternated, see. For the first week use the Atomidine solution, then the next week the Glyco-Thymoline solution. Then the third week change back to the Atomidine, see?

6. After the third week, or the second series of the Atomidine douches, - begin using (not before) the Violet Ray Vaginal Applicator (the small tube, for the hand machine, you see). Insert the tube before the juice or the current is turned on. Use only for half a minute each evening for the first week, - then it may be increased to a minute, and then a minute and a half. Following each of the Violet Ray treatments, give a Glyco-Thymoline douche.

7. Do have the osteopathic treatments, and the other applications indicated, and we will find bettered conditions for this body.

8. (Q) How did I get this infection? (A) From those associations in the activities, - not as a detrimental condition to the body.

R1. 1/23/43 [2777]‘s letter to Mr. A. M. Godfrey:

“Will you please send me at once your Radio-Active Appliance, for which $18.75 is enclosed.

“Mr. Cayce has been here in New York and today I talked with him personally regarding my reading of last summer. I did not have it with me at the time and only recalled certain discs mentioned. He began telling me how all people improve under its use and, incidentally, mentioned how inducive to sleep it is. But when I came home and examined my reading, I thought it didn’t sound like the same thing.

“Therefore, I telephoned to Mr. Cayce and told him of this. He told me regardless of reading to send on to you for Radio-Active Appliance and to send my membership number which is [2777-1]; also to drop him a line upon his return.

“I am sending to you for this appliance therefore, and ask that I have it shipped at once, for I’m at a drastic place and can’t remain in New York longer than two more weeks at most, unless health is so improved that I can work and memory becomes active. In fact, I can’t live without vitality as I’m alone, haven’t worked for a year and now have gone through all my little savings. One HAS to have a measure of vitality, especially at forty-five years of age, with competition with youth. I don’t see HOW I’m going to work forty-eight hours, the new wage and time requirement, in my physical state. I had determined to take my life, as I mentioned to Mr. Cayce, as I saw no way out and won’t appeal for financial help. Then his expression of this machine brought the last ray of hope.

“I hope this will not work opposite to instructions given for gold and copper discs as you will note by referring to my case number.

“What is price of gold and copper disc? Please send me any and all literature you may have on the Radio-Active Appliance and on gold and copper disc form of treatment; also a card, letting me know when the appliance is shipped, and I’ll try to stay and hang on until this takes effect…”

R2. 1/23/43 [2777]‘s letter to EC:

“Your talk with me this morning may mean one person living who had one more week to go. I could only touch upon the predicament but I’m sure you’ll understand what a frightful experience it is to have been put under such hypnotic suggestion. How can I live if I can’t work. And he told me everything would fail me as it has - a period of three horrible years.

“You will see by enclosed, that I’ve sent on within the hour for the Radio-Active Appliance. To sleep will mean a bit of strength to fight. However, as you will refer to my case number, you’ll see something very different is suggested. It wouldn’t be destroying vibratory influences, would it? Do you suggest if I get better with the RADIO APPLIANCE THAT I THEN USE the gold and copper discs if I am able to get and hold a position so as to meet the expense?

“Would you be willing to give me a character reading if I meet the expense 5.00 at a time? That is, 5.00 every two weeks?

“In that reading I wish to ask specifically for the following:

Where can I get songs already written published; name of publisher, etc.; name of composer who would set my words to music so we could have these published.

“In other words, I have songs I’ve canvassed for one year and can’t get through, generally, to have them heard. I wish a name of a publisher or producer of a show who would be interested. Then I have lyrics awaiting musical settings and want a name of a composer. I understand even such things as this is done, as you said. Oh, WHAT it would mean. Then I could pay up debts and start over again with money it would bring and with health in measure to go on working in office.

“I will surely see that you are paid but it may take a little time. I got sick almost over putting out eighteen dollars today, as it is so near the end, but HEALTH comes first. If I sell my songs, I’ll get an advance royalty and get something in back of me once again.

“Oh, your work is SO wonderful. What peace you must know to be of such effective service to so many. Would that I could work in some office touching upon these things. I had twenty-five years at a typewriter and it just about destroyed spirit as well as body; no interest in fire insurance and like prison hours. But to work with men’s bodies and minds - and spiritual forces!

“I enjoyed the two meetings greatly and my personal chat with you this morning even more. God’s blessing on you…”

R3. 2/15/43 [2777]‘s letter to EC:

“Thank you for your letter personally giving me encouragement in this very dark hour. However, from it, I take you expected I had received report of my reading [2777-3] made a week ago today. I have not; the only thing arriving is your own personal note of good wishes. Can it be it has not been mailed or lost in the mail? I have waited anxiously and then your note, and as yet, no report. I thought I should let you know.

“Should it arrive I will drop you a card at once. But if you don’t hear, you will know it is lost, if sent. It may be it takes considerable time to write it up, so I am not impatient. I only thought that, in view of your letter, you spoke as though I had received it. And if you did mail it at the same time, or shortly thereafter, I’m afraid it is lost and I shall need a copy. So sorry; I’m so VERY anxious to read it.

“I have sold a song which will be published inside of a month. If the Petrillo ban on recordings lifts, I shall make money from it undoubtedly. If the ban persists there will be no money realized.

“I shall pay you, be assured, as soon as I begin to make any money, and I thank you for your interest and helpfulness.

“As to the machine: It leaves me the next day so utterly exhausted, I can’t lift my arms to my head to comb my hair. I’ve had to give it up. I feel nothing at the time, as you said, but the next day I am almost unable to move. Possibly I should have taken advice of the reading and used the Wet [Cell] Appliance with the other apparatus. I’ve been waiting to see what the report says. I’m so sorry, but hardly think I should continue. I think it would be splendid for high blood pressure person, but I am only sixty blood pressure, and so extremely low anyway. This seems to finish it off and I stagger with weakness. I wonder if I could exchange for the other. I hate to ask this, but I only used the instrument a few times and it is in perfect shape. My report specifically mentioned the other Appliance. That is, the report made last summer. Not a gland is functioning and in my neck, the glands are all swollen like hard marbles. Possibly the Wet [Cell] Appliance would meet that as it diagnosed in the report the glandular trouble which has stumped doctors.

“I am anxiously awaiting the character reading report…”

R5. 4/3/43 EC’s letter to [2777]:

“In going about to have the Appliance prepared for you, I went over your reading. The Appliance, as I see it, will not do much good unless you have certain adjustments made. Now, if you will let me, I will have it arranged that this will not cost you one penny, only the time to have it done.

Then the Appliance will be of some real help, but I am sure it will not be much unless you have this done, and you haven’t had this done, have you? But it should be in conjunction with the use of the Appliance.

“Can I arrange this for you? Of course, I wouldn’t do such without your saying so.

“Let me hear from you about this, won’t you…”

R6. 4/11/43 [2777]‘s letter to EC:

“I have your letters and do so appreciate your efforts on my behalf. I hated to put you to any trouble in having special arrangements on the Appliance given in the reading and hesitated to give consent for this reason. Then your letter came saying that you were having it done. Be sure I await the Appliance with all hope and anticipation, such as I can gather these black days. Physicians just can’t raise sixty blood pressure or take away many strange and difficult symptoms, though the best have been faithful in every effort. Each day it seems the time has come for the long jump out; then kindness such as you exhibit and that hope that possibly something can be done, not tried, keeps me going another week. I work three hours daily; all I can do.

“I am writing to Dr. Gibson today [J.H. Gibson, Dayton, Ohio, M.D. ? Ph.D?] and thank you for his address.

“Confusion reigns and this cloud of depression!

“Be assured I recognize great indebtedness to you and only hope for health in a measure to repay you as I wish.

“I will let you know when the Appliance arrives and of course of any improvement…”

R7. 4/19/43 [2777]‘s letter to EC:

“Thank you for your letter and it is so kind of you, so very kind.

“Yes, I will be glad to avail myself of both the Appliance and treatments, for something must be done without delay. It is the thought of indebtedness that is hard. But when the recording ban lifts, then I’ll make some money on the published song and another one the publishers are considering. And what joy then to show my appreciation, as soon as I am able. So I will await the Appliance and name and address of the osteopath. And thank you so very much.

“I wrote to the doctor in Ohio a week ago, but have not heard from him as yet. I probably will next week.

“Please let me know whenever you are in New York. I shall keep in touch with you as to progress, of course…”

R8. 4/22/43 EC’s letter to [2777]:

“Thanks for yours of the 19th. I really think you have a mission at this time in the earth and am anxious that you take advantage of it this time, and not some ages hence. That is my only interest.

“Now will you take your physical reading and go see Dr. George N. Coulter, … Street and he will make arrangements for you to have your treatments. Then when the time comes for the use of the Appliance, I will send that to you.

“Now do this right away and write me and let me know what he has to say.

“Thanking you and hoping to be the means of a service…”

R9. 5/8/43 [2777]‘s letter to EC:

“I’ve postponed writing until I had something definite to say. Things are going badly. The doctor whom I see every other day now believes an operation must be made and yet holds out little hope with it.

“And I can’t swing one and can’t go on like this, and realize as helpful as osteopathic treatments would be later, that possibly I shouldn’t start until I know what is to happen. I don’t see how I can stay in New York and yet feel I must. Oh, it is all so awful. Health - that is wealth. I don’t know how to fight in this condition.

“I heard from Dr. Gibson. He sent me a splendid song that he wrote but said too busy to write with another now. I sent him mine, now published, and he replied he liked it. If you get June’s issue of Radio Mirror you will see my song there as hit of the month, and yet not a cent from it; two page spread; ironical, I think.

“I’m so very grateful for your very, very kind suggestion and arrangement that I see this doctor. I’ve been headed there several times and then feel it is not right to start and leave, and I just go on marking time. It kills me to run this type; back aching so, no glands working and inflammation setting up throughout my body. Could osteopathy help that? I’ll keep in touch with you…”

R10. 5/11/43 EC’s letter to [2777]:

“I have yours of the 8th. I’m sorry things are not so good with you. Of course, I may be entirely wrong, but I still think, had you taken the advice given you, you might have even prevented having to have had the operation. But it is your choice, for as I told you I had arranged that it would not have cost you one penny and among the best there is in New York.

“But you know what you like; that is, what you like.

“Thanks a lot. I do hope you get along all right…”

R11. 5/18/43 [2777]‘s letter to EC:

“Thank you for your letter. At the turning point with utter discouragement any way, I decided to follow your advice and see the osteopathic doctor and I did yesterday. He is splendid and I’m trying to gather hope that help may be forthcoming. I am so grateful to you. I hate to be in position of inability to pay him at present and that was one reason I hesitated until your letter came.

“If the ban lifts on music, the picture will change but feeling as I do, I wonder if I can have courage to outlive the ban. It’s a terrific battle, mentally and physically. Another hypnotist said he could undo that work and tried hours on end, but couldn’t get me into the slightest stage. YOU can appreciate more than others, then, just what I’m laboring with in addition to physical enervation as described in the reading.

R12. 5/21/43 EC’s letter to [2777]:

“Thanks for yours of the 18th. I do hope you keep on in the way that I believe promises help. Why should you worry about the doctor? He was glad to take you, wasn’t he? If not, let me know.

“And will you ask him to drop me a line, please? And I would appreciate it if you will let me know how you feel after, say, six to ten treatments.

“Thanking you…”

R13. 1/3/44 [2777]‘s letter to EC:

“You will remember our meeting nearly a year ago when you were in New York, of my purchase of machine we spoke about then; although my reading of the year previous to that called for another.

“Things went very bad with me and I disposed of everything and finally took gas. (You will recall the trouble of negative thoughts I had as the result of work of an unscrupulous hypnotist) but was discovered by smell of gas and rushed to hospital and revived, having to remain nine days.

“It has been a black time. And staring through last night, it suddenly came to me to write to you again and to ask if you would be willing to send on the machine which was first prescribed. You said you would do this when I returned the other machine, but anticipating the drastic measure I took, I never sent for it. That machine was paid for fully and returned.

“Also, could you give me the name and address of someone in New York who is a good hypnotist who would help to undo the damage done? I SO need this help, as YOU can understand.

“Recalling your former helpfulness, I am impelled to write…”

R14. 1/7/44 EC’s letter to [2777]:

“I have yours of the third. I have often wondered about you and wondered just how everything is going.

“I was very afraid that you were going to do something rather drastic. I will get Mr. Godfrey to send you the Appliance. But where is it to be sent? Is there an express office at …? Let me know right away.

“Do get in touch with Dr. Thomas Garrett, … Corner of … Street, New York City. I think you will find that he will be able to help you. But let me know where to send the Appliances. We would love very much to try and be the means of a help, if at all possible…”

R15. 1/44 [2777]‘s letter to EC:

“Thank you for your letter and its spirit. I am so very grateful. You can send the Appliance right on to the above address. (There is an express office here). If it requires ice, as did the other, that will be impossible to use; anyway for the present. I take it this one doesn’t, and hope so.

“Regarding Dr. Garrett: I saw him when going through my trouble just before trying to ‘take off’ as it were. He is really a wonderful man. I appreciated him greatly and feel the real good of hypnotism will march forward under his able grasp and administration of it. But he was working with men, training them for flying and doing a wonderful piece of work, engaging his every minute. Despite this, I did wonder if he could crowd me in at any odd moment, but he couldn’t. He knew of the situation of the suggestion being made and realized that it would take some time. It was a keen disappointment as I have all the confidence in the world in him and admire his wonderful approach to it. We had one or two splendid talks and he was all I could hope for and more. But to take treatments just appears impossible. Therefore, I wonder if you know of someone who is not doing such important work (I read a newspaper article about Dr. Garrett’s work with the Air Corps) and yet who has success against odds such as mine? Oh, to have this one thing removed; this inability to suggest to myself or receive suggestion constructively. It seems I can’t build a life again, starting from less than nothing, without this one help…”

R16. 2/5/44 EC’s letter to [2777]:

“I am in hopes you have received the Wet Cell Appliance, and that you are very, very careful to follow the suggestions in the combination of the ingredients which goes to make up the solution for the Appliance; that you do keep the plates that are attached to the body very clean; that you do disconnect the solution from the Appliance when you have finished with it; each time you have used this, taking the little wire out of the bottle; each after taking treatment cleaning it off, putting together about twenty or thirty minutes before it is to be attached to the body. I believe you will get real help.

R17. 2/44 [2777]‘s letter to EC:

“I am so very sorry. I thought you would probably know of the delay through Mr. Godfrey. I surely would have written and given you a report by this time if I had received the Appliance. He found difficulty in getting a two gallon crock. So he wrote to me and asked if I could find one here. I tried to, but couldn’t. It just was impossible. I wrote this to him. Recently I received a letter stating that he hoped to locate something shortly and would send it on if he does.

“This accounts for no word. I did write some time ago, however. I wonder if that letter was received? It was in response to your letter suggesting that I try to contact Dr. Garrett. I replied how I had seen him a year or so ago, how very kind he was, but how tied up he is with doing his strikingly marvelous work for the Air Corps. He could not take on a private case.

“Therefore, I inquired if you know of some beginner in and about New York who would take such a peculiar case as mine, making that initial break of getting me asleep and wiping out these diabolical suggestions so effectively made some time ago.

“Surely others should be going on in this wide and discarded, or rather undeveloped field. I am so very anxious to receive this help. It seems an endurance test until that time.

“Thank you so very kindly for your interest and your letter. I will let you know when the Appliance is received…”

R18. 3/7/44 [2777]‘s card to EC:

“I have just received from Mr. Godfrey the Appliance and will charge it tonight and then inform you of results. I so appreciate receiving this. Have you received my former letters (2) asking who is doing some work in New York as Dr. Garrett? I’m so anxious to contact SOMEONE. I will write again shortly…”

R19. 3/11/44 EC’s letter to [2777]:

“Thank you for your recent card. I hope as you make the approach to those things suggested, you will get real results. If I had the address of some other doctor along the line of Dr. Garrett I would give it to you, but I don’t know one. There are many channels through which you might learn this.

“I am sure if you would telephone Mr. David E. Kahn’s office at … and ask for Mrs. Brown and tell her you would like to know the address of this physician who is the hypnotist, she will be able to give it to you. They keep those things on file and she is the special secretary.

“Hoping to hear from you and that you are better…”

R20. 3/14/44 EC’s letter to [2777]:

“I have your letter of the 9th. It seems to me you are all mixed up with the Appliance; how to put it together and everything of the kind.

“I am going to ask Mr. Godfrey tonight to write you full, complete instructions as to how to put this together. Of course, if you haven’t it fixed right, it will not be worth one penny to you. If you are not very mechanically inclined, you had better get someone else to do this for you, because it is one of those delicate things. You can’t feel any life from the machine at all, but where it is used properly, it will do good. Where it isn’t, of course, it won’t do any good. That it has been crudely made, is true, but it has been so helpful in so many hundreds of cases for so many years, I know it would help you if you can get the idea on just how to use it.

“I hope you will get this from Mr. Godfrey very soon. If you don’t, let me know and I will try to help out if I can.

“With every good wish…”

R21. 3/16/44 [2777]‘s letter to EC:

“Thank you for your letter. Yes, I wrote to Mr. Godfrey as it wasn’t plain and I didn’t want to touch it until I knew definitely what to do. I wasn’t complaining about it being roughly made at all. I just didn’t understand the instructions sent and the reading, as from the instructions, I thought everything went into the crock. The reading calls for alternate days with the Gold Solution and camphor and the instructions didn’t mention camphor.

“So my question was as to these alternate days, how to change, and if Gold Solution went into the small bottle with the wire and the rest of the preparation into the crock.

“I haven’t heard as yet, but I am anxiously awaiting. I realize it must be done just right to get results.

“I do so appreciate your assistance and regret this was not clear. All is okay but that, and I am sure this, which I understand to be a radio charge, will be of help.

“I am also writing Mrs. Brown to see if I can contact Dr. Kahn, following your kind suggestion. This has been a nightmare of an experience and I am so grateful for what you’ve done.

“I will let you know of my condition as I take the treatments, which will be as soon as I hear from Mr. Godfrey…”

R22. 3/21/44 EC’s letter to [2777]:

“Thanks for your letter of the 16th. I saw Mr. Godfrey Sunday and spoke to him about writing you and giving you very detailed instructions as to how to prepare your Appliance.

“He said he was writing you and I hope that you have this before this time and have it all up and using it.

“Be sure and let us hear from you from time to time.

“Hoping to indeed be the means of a real help…”

R23. 5/3/44 [2777]‘s letter to EC:

“This is to let you know that I am using my Appliance faithfully. I am watching for improvement which hasn’t come as yet. It is so discouraging to ‘live’ this way.

“I so appreciate your interest and help.

“I have to renew the Gold Solution and the druggist here wishes more information as to formula. Can you tell me? Just Gold Solution was too vague for him. I got a new bottle of Spirits of Camphor last night.

“I do wish your work might grow and grow. Oh, for doctors to seek your help in diagnosis of disease. I haven’t received any papers as to the work for some time. Always eager to read anything…”

R24. 5/5/44 EC’s letter to [2777]:

“I have yours of the 3rd. I don’t get it - your not seeing some results. But keep it up. I am sure there will come help. Be sure and use the Appliance just as suggested. Do keep the plates that you attach to the body clean with emery paper. Be sure to take the connections in the bottle out when not using them and wipe them off when taking out and before putting back into the solutions. This is all very necessary if you would get the results desired. And attach the connections to the Appliance about twenty minutes before you attach to the body. The formula for the gold is 15 grains of sodium Gold Chloride in 15 ounces of distilled water. Use about three ounces in the bottle for Appliance.

“Do keep on the constructive attitude and I am sure you will get help.

“Do let us hear from you every now and then and can we help, know I am glad to do so…”
