This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at the office of the Association, Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 4th day of November, 1942, in accordance with request made by the self - Mrs. [2845], new Associate Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc., recommended by Mrs. [3914].
[Edgar Cayce; Gertrude Cayce, Conductor; Gladys Davis, Steno.]
Time of Reading 3:45 to 4:10 P. M. Eastern War Time. …, Mass.
-
GC: You will have before you the entity, [2845], …, Mass., born [2845], July 1, 1901, in Vinalhaven, Maine, who seeks information, advice and guidance, in a Mental and Spiritual Reading, concerning the direction of her life in order to be of the greater service and to develop her soul faculties. The entity desires to know just how she is progressing along spiritual lines, and - if possible - what she can do to help her spiritual progress, to be of service to mankind, to prove the love she has for Jesus. Also advice will be appreciated on the meeting of her everyday problems in the home. You will answer any questions that may be asked.
-
EC: Yes, we have the entity here, [2845].
-
In giving advice or counsel for the greater unfoldment in a life of usefulness in its associations with others, and in meeting the everyday problems in the home, - the basis for the reasoning would be indicated for the entity, or the basis for contemplation of such advice or counsel.
-
The entity finds itself a body, - with all the faculties and desires of a material manifestation; also a mind, - that gives expressions to the emotions of the body as well as the emotions of the soul, or expressions indicated through the activity of the entity in varied earthly experiences - hence there are latent spiritual urges. Then there is the expression of the soul, - the real, though latent self - the entity, the soul. Thus in this three-dimensional circumstance the entity finds itself corresponding to the three-dimensional expression of the Father, the Son, the Holy Spirit. This, as we find, is the ideal expression of the Godhead in the experience of man, and that which has been termed the Holy Bible as the light to those who seek to know the way to the better interpreting of the relationships of the entity to the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
-
As individual experiences are manifested through sacred as well as profane history, one is given an insight into the experiences of individuals who sought to know their relations, and who in varied times or portions of their experience adhered to, or acted in such contradictory manners as to bring destructive forces in their experience.
-
Also the promises are seen from the beginning, as to the thoughts and the attitude of the Father-God to man, to His creation, and how that there would come into the world, into the experience of man, the spirit, the mind of God.
-
Hence as one reads or sees the interpretations of these in the life of Jesus of Nazareth, who became the Christ, the Savior, through fulfilling those purposes, one realizes that indeed He has become the way, the truth and the light.
-
Thus the individual entity finds that the body, or that first creation of God, the mind, is the way; or the way through which light may come to the entity of the Father. For, as are the pronouncements in the law by Moses, “Today there is set before thee good and evil, life and death. And say not who will descend from heaven to bring a message, or who may come from over the sea, for Lo, it is within thine own heart.”
-
And how WELL this is completed in that promise, that pronouncement, that admonition given by Him as He led the way to fulfill in the garden and on the Cross the law itself, - to demonstrate that separation from God might indeed be broken away forever. As He gave, “In my Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so I would have told you. I go to prepare a place, that where I am, there ye may be also.”
-
Thus we see the relationship each soul bears to the Father, as to the way, the Christ, - by wholly trusting in Him day by day. As He said, “I stand continually at the door of thy heart. Open and I will enter.”
-
How do ye open? Through searching, seeking, humbling thyself before the throne of grace and mercy, as was manifested in Him; acknowledging Him as thy Lord, thy Master, yea thy elder brother.
-
He has given also, “If ye open I will come and abide with thee.”
-
This, then, is the manner, the way, the truth, the light, through which this entity may find its true relationships to the Creative Forces.
-
As indicated, there have been varied experiences of the entity in the earth, varied applications of truths, of its concept and of its ideals. Thus the entity has fitted itself in some channels for a more direct or intense manner in which there may be the manifesting of these powers that are thine, THROUGH that thou hast done ABOUT such - and through the promises in the Christ NOW.
-
Thus, as we find, the entity has fitted itself as a speaker, as a teacher; especially in relationships to those that are ill in body or in mind, those who have lost their hold upon the light and the way.
-
So, through such channels may the entity aid others; knowing that as ye do so, as He has given, “Inasmuch as ye do it unto the least of these, my children, ye do it unto me.”
-
Thus in those offices of instructing, of directing, of speaking to those ill at ease, in body or in mind, those afflicted in the various manners, there are those channels offered through which the entity may make manifest His love in the earth. Not unto justifying of thyself, but in thy labors glorify ever - daily - that love thou hast felt, as thou givest expression of the thankfulness for that love manifested.
-
Thus in patience with such do ye become aware of thy soul, and of the love the Father hath bestowed upon thee through the Son.
-
In the home, - daily, - do as ye would be done by; not as an overlord, but even as He - who thought it not robbery to make Himself equal with God, yet suffered that YOU might have an advocate with the Father-eternal.
-
Know, then, - as ye call He will hear.
-
Study, then, to show thyself approved unto God, a workman not ashamed, but rightly stressing those phases of helpfulness that glorify the Christ in thy life, as well as His love in the lives of others.
-
Condemn no one. Or, as He gave, “Forgive as ye would be forgiven.”
-
Keep self unspotted from condemnation of any soul. Thus may ye find the greater concept of the Christ life in thy experience; taking Him in partnership with thee; letting Him be treated in thy daily activities with others as ye would have thy Lord, thy Savior, treat thee. For this is the pattern; that ye mete thy friends, thy foes, thy loved ones, and all who would call on His name.
-
Thus ye may bring healing to others, to thyself, and glory to the Father - who will speak with thee, if ye seek His face, in the manner He has indicated.
-
We are through for the present.

Mr. Edgar Cayce
Dear Mr. Cayce,
I received the reading on Wednesday of this week and I am very grateful to you for all it contains. The more I read it the greater value it has and I’m sure I shall greatly benefit by it and shall daily try to be worthy of all that the Master would have me be.
May I thank you again for your labor of love in service to Him.
Yours In Faith, [2845]
R2. 1/11/43 [2845]‘s letter:
Dear Mr. Cayce,
I have intended writing to you so many times but this holiday season has kept me so very busy that I truly have neglected much of my correspondence.
I received your book “There Is A River” on Dec. 3rd and it is a prized possession for many reasons. The first night I read 145 pages and I just sat and cried through most of it, as it certainly touched my heart. So much of what was in that book was what has been in my heart all my life. It would be impossible to tell you all that I have found in that beautiful book.
When I read of Dwight L. Moody, it thrilled me as my father loved him and had some of his books and years ago when Mother disposed of things, I chose those books amongst others and kept them as no one else wanted them. Yes, so much that touched me, your great love for your Sunday school class. I could go on and on, citing many things that seemed so close to me. As I became lost in the reading of those words, as it spoke of Hudson’s “Law of Psychic Phenomena,” I smiled for that book has lain on my table for the past four months lent to me by a friend that figured I would lose some of my faith in Spirit after reading it. I still haven’t finished it but will eventually.
Well, I must say that I shall often read your book and shall each time feel I know you better. Some day I pray it will be possible for me to come to Virginia Beach to talk with you on many things. God Bless You.
Yours Sincerely, [2845]
R3. 1/28/43 (Thursday) [2845]‘s letter:
Dear Mr. Cayce,
It is with a greater joy that I write to you today, after having met you and your wonderful son. As I told you in New York, it was the greatest thrill of my life, for then I realized my search for the real people was ended. I thought of how much I would like to remain in that vibration forever, but of course, I do know that we must mix with all the trials of the earth and master them in order to prove the value of spiritual development. I can only say that my short trip was well worth my efforts. So happy to have really met you, and enjoyed talking with you, more than words can express. I have felt that I have climbed another step toward the great heights.
I must also say to you that I certainly enjoyed your son. We had a grand talk and I would liked to have spoken with him for hours, for I have never contacted a young man of such knowledge on spiritual things. I shall always be grateful to him for his lovely words to me.
I have already started “propaganda”??? about you here in the city of … I shall spread the news around of all the joy that you have brought to me, since my contact with you and the Association, and already I have quite a few interested listeners, so some day I hope … will be honored with your presence and those that work with you, for there is a great field here and many honest seekers need more spiritual understanding.
I shall soon write for a life-reading as I want to know my rightful place and fulfill the plan set down for me.
God Bless you in Everything.
Your Grateful Friend, [2845]
R4. 2/21/43 Questions (for Life Reading):
- What course should I follow in order to do the greatest amount of good through the spiritual power I possess?
- Why do I have such an urge to preach of Jesus’ love?
- Please explain the reasons for the strange dreams in which I find myself either demonstrating to others a phase of mediumship, or listening to speakers whose knowledge of spiritual things seems far beyond this earth.
- How can I best help to fulfill what Jesus taught in regard to helping people understand that we must love all races, colors and creeds?
- How may I meet my opportunities and recognize them as they come?
- Am I in my rightful place; if not, what change should I make?
- How, when and where have I been formerly associated with Edgar Cayce; and how may I best aid his work in the present?
- What have been my past associations with Mr. […] and Englishman, who seems sincere in his desire to advise and help me; yet I try to weigh everything and think for myself.
- Tell me whatever I need to know to further my development along spiritual lines.

B1. 10/11/42 [2845]‘s letter to EC:
Mr. Edgar Cayce;
Dear Sir:
Your friend Mrs. [3914] has told me so much of your beautiful work, while she was here in Boston and asked me to write you concerning a course on the Bible which you give, which would help me so much. I had been thinking of trying to get into some Bible School, but she says it would not be necessary if I took the course you give.
If it is convenient for you - I would appreciate a little information about the course and anything about it which I should know.
I have never had any study of the Bible other than being brought up in a religious home and attending church most of my life, but I am searching for greater knowledge of Spiritual things and of a greater development of the soul.
I would appreciate hearing about your course.
Thanking you and God Bless you and your beautiful work.
Yours in Jesus name, Mrs. [2845]
B2. 10/14/42 EC’s letter to [2845]:
Mrs. [2845] …, Mass.
Dear Mrs. [2845]:-
Have yours of the 11th - and trust we may be the means of being of a service, I feel more than interested in any one who wishes to make a study of the Bible. While I do not pretend to be an authority on the subject have given near sixty years of my life to its study and have been a S.S. Teacher for 50 years, still am.
We have a group who have for the past two years been studying and reading the Bible together, notes are taken on the discussion and these are available for those who wish them, can have prepared for you the entire series thus far given from Genesis to II Chron. [II Chronicles], as was given last chapters of I Chron. last night - we meet each Tuesday evening. The papers are about 10 cents each week. Will be less for the back papers if you wish them.
Am sending you under separate cover for your study a book “A Search for God” prepared by one of the study groups of the Assn. This will give you some idea of the type of the work, however the Bible study is confined to the Book itself.
Will also have the Secy of the Bible study send you a sample lesson leaflet.
Thank you for your inquiry, and trust we may help
Sincerely, [signed] Edgar Cayce
B3. 10/30/42 [2845]‘s letter to EC:
Mr. Edgar Cayce,
Dear Sir:
I was very pleased to receive your prompt reply and thank you so much.
Yes, I shall receive many hours of helpfulness as well as enjoyment in reading “A Search For God.” How lovely it is and how clearly it explains all of the things in my heart. Money cannot buy the benefits that I shall derive from its constant usage. Again, I thank you for it.
I am also overjoyed to learn I can procure “There Is A River,” for I’m sure it will be well worth its price.
The appointment for my reading is convenient for me and I shall try to cooperate with you to the best of my ability for I do desire to know just how I am progressing along spiritual lines. If possible I would also like to know if there is anything more that I can do to help my spiritual progress. To be of service to mankind, to prove the love I have for the Master Jesus is my only ambition. I pray that Spirit will make clear to you what is necessary for me to do, to reach my desired goal. Any criticisms will be welcome, for it is the only way we can be sure we are on the right track at all times. All I ever ask is for the truth, so I’m very sure I’ll be more than happy with the results of my reading.
Thank you so much,
Yours In Faith, [2845]
P.S. Any advice on the meeting of my every day problems in the home will be greatly appreciated as well, for Spirit alone helps me and I’m sure through your organism, they could tell me all I need to know. Thank you. [2845]
