This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at his office, 115 West 35th Street, Virginia Beach, Va., this 27th day of January, 1926, in accordance with request made by her mother, Mrs. [979]. Involuntary reading.

Time of Reading 11:00 A. M. Eastern Standard Time. …, Alabama.

1. EC: Now, we have the condition here, [286], office …, … Street, …, Alabama.

2. Now, we find that condition as has been given in this system, that prevented the full eliminations in body, have become accentuated in those conditions of elimination in the pelvic organs of the body, and while the condition has become accentuated, this, as we see, with care, with attention in the proper way and manner, may be relieved without an operation; yet will need local treatment, for with the exercising of those conditions as go with the condition of life at present, we will find this will be assisted in NATURAL means, yet will cause, with other conditions arising, the inability of conception, and with the action of the menstrual forces, cause more distress, more of the abrasions as will be carried in circulation to capillary circulation.

3. Then, the treatment would be through packs of that as is necessary to remove that inflammation as is seen centered and accentuated in the womb, or on edge of same, and on ovary, see? for with this pack, [womb packing - 286-3, Par. R3] of that of the antiseptics that cleanse same, [uterine local packs - see 286-4, Par. R1] the system will be, then, assisted in taking properties that eliminate the condition from the system, as would be found in this:

4. To one gallon of rain water, add:

Sarsaparilla Root…4 ounces, Yellow Dock Root…2 ounces, Burdock Root…2 ounces, Calisaya Bark…1 ounce, Wild Cherry Bark…2 ounces, Elder Flower…4 ounces, Black Root…1 ounce.

5. Reduce this by simmering (not boiling) (be sure these are prepared from the herbs in their original state) to one quart. Strain, and while warm add 4 ounces pure grain alcohol, with 3 drams of Balsam of Tolu cut in same. The dose of this would be (shaking well together before taken) two teaspoonsful before each meal, see? We will find this will bring the body to its normal condition.

6. We are through for the present.

R1. 2/18/26 Mother’s ltr.: “The rdg. for [286] and your ltr. rec’d, and was indeed glad it gave something to prevent an operation. She is going to Dr. Jones [Lee Jones, M.D.] to see about getting the local treatments. Am just wondering if he will give them as you directed without telling him or would he do it at all according to your directions. You know how most doctors are about those things. [286] said she would go to him and have him examine her and see what he suggested best for her to do, and it may be he would give the tr. you spoke of without her saying anything, then if he did not, or suggested an operation, she would tell him and see if he would give what you said. Dr. Furniss was the one who told her she would have to be operated on. Dr. Jones is her doctor but he was out of town for a few weeks, is why she went to the other doctor, and I expect will have some trouble getting the herbs and roots in the medicine. Most of them are simple, I know part of them, but getting them this time of year is another thing. Wish it had told in the rdg. where to get them. Do you know of any place they could be secured? I sure am going to try my very best, if it be possible, to get for her what is needed.”

R2. 2/24/26 EC’s ltr.: “I have yours of the 18th, and note what you have to say regarding Miss [286] and her reading. I’m sure you already know what Dr. Jones has to say about her condition, so what I have to say may be superflous. However, I’m glad to know that Dr. Jones has the case, and I believe, though I have no idea what he will say, that whatever has been his decision that I would show the reading to him. Perhaps, if I may offer the suggestion, it would be well were you to take it to him yourself. Since he has made his examinations and knows what he thinks and believes, for Dr. Jones is to my mind one of the best physicians to be found any where, one of the most conscientious, most consecrated man to the service of humanity, that it has ever been my pleasure to know, and I am sure he will never suggest an operation unless it is a last resort, and I’ll certainly be very glad to know what he has to say to you concerning same. As for the herbs, you will be able to obtain these from the Sellers Drug company, Fourth Avenue & Twentieth St., Birmingham. This company has made a speciality for several years of obtaining all herbs in their state for the compounding of prescriptions that have been given in these readings, so you can see from this there are a few people who have gained something of the good that may be obtained through this work.”

R3. 4/15/26 Mother’s ltr.: “[286] went to the hospital and has taken her local treatments [womb packing] and has now started on her medicine. Dr. Jones in his examination said about what your rdg. gave, only he did not give the medicine. He said an operation would not do at all in her present condition. She did not want me to tell Dr. Jones about your rdg. for fear he would not want her to take the medicine and as he gave her the treatments required she thought best not to say anything to him, did not know how he may take it. He is out of town now for two weeks. [286] is back to work and seems better. I am so in hopes this medicine now will be all she will need. They charged eight dollars for the medicine. I thought that pretty high but if it helps her it will be cheap.”

R4. 5/8/26 Mother’s ltr.: “[286] had an unfortunate thing happen to her. We had a collie pup Mr. Lamar gave her 3 yrs. ago. We raised it from a puppy. It took sick and we doctored it as we had often done before; it got worse and [286] sent for the doctor (we have a dog hospital here now). When he saw the dog he said he thought it had rabies. He took him to the hospital, in 2 days he died. They sent the head to Montgomery and they pronounced it rabies. [286] had a cut on her finger and is now having to take the Pasteur tr. She did not know if it would be best to take the medicine you gave her while taking these shots. She has continued it, however, but has felt uncertain if it would make any difference. She has not had any more pain in her side like she had before, but does not think she is just all right yet. I wonder if you would give her another rdg. to make sure about her condition under the present conditions and to know if she is alright or if there has been something left undone. We have followed out your tr. as near as we could just to the letter, and are anxious to know if she is alright or not. Could you do this for her?”

B2. 1/18/26 Mother’s letter: “[286] was married Dec. 26th and it is about her I am writing you. You remember you gave her a rdg. several yrs. ago, and you told her then the condition of the blood causing the trouble with her head, and that with the exercise you gave would be easily cured, but as you know with all my trying could not get her to take the exercise regularly, and her office work sitting all day, she has gradually grown worse. In Dec. she went to the Dr. as she was suffering with her side. He gave her an examination, said she has a growth on her right ovary about the size of an egg, and would have to have an operation. She is sorry now she did not do as you told her in the rdg., and says if she could avoid an operation would gladly do anything you would tell her. She does not know I am writing you for this rdg., for I did not know what it might tell and would not want her to know if it was anything that would worry her. Dr. told her it would be alright for her to go on and get married as it had been announced and in Feb. or March she had better have the operation. I feel very anxious about her, so if you will, please give her a rdg. at your earliest convenience. She is still working for … on … St., and is there on week days from 8 A.M. to 5-6 P.M. …Is it wise for her to continue working in an office? What kind of work should she do for a life work?”
