This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at his home on Arctic Crescent, Va. Beach, Va., this 25th day of May, 1933, in accordance with request made by her husband, Mr. [2056], Active Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc.
[Edgar Cayce; Gertrude Cayce, Conductor; Gladys Davis, Steno. Mildred Davis and L. B. Cayce.]
Time of Reading 3:55 to 4:05 P. M. Eastern Standard Time. …, N.Y.
-
GC: You will answer the questions which have been submitted by her husband, as I ask them.
-
EC: Yes, we have the body here; this we have had before.
-
Conditions in some respects are satisfactory; in others not so good as when we last had the body here, for - as we find - there is the tendency for the spread of the effect of those lesions (by clottings) on the brain centers proper. While these in the present show for relief, and will for the time being show greater improvement, the condition has assumed those proportions as of a consuming fire in the brain cells themselves.
-
In meeting the conditions for the betterment and for the greater ease of the body in the present, we would find that a more sympathetic attendant or nurse would be preferable under the existent conditions - one that may, with the activity and associations, make magnetic applications for the body that will bring greater ease than too much of that which is - under the present conditions - as forced issues with the mental abilities of the existent body; one that will, with the oil massage that has been given, sit for a period and use the left hand as the negative pole and the right hand as the positive pole. Placing, then, the right hand on the solar plexus center (or the 9th dorsal vertebra) and the left hand on the forehead, with a gentle pressure of each (and this, to be sure, should be directly to the body itself) carry those strong influences of the low electrical forces that come from an animated activity of the body itself, making for soothing effects to the body and for an easing of the general disintegrations that are occurring.
-
If the response may be had to this, we may find that in another two weeks we may reach the point where there may be a change for the better - and for the application of other mechanical or medicinal properties that may bring recuperations.
-
If the response is negative, as in some cases we have had in the last few weeks, then this segregation and separation will continue - for a period.
-
(Q) Please advise me where I can obtain such a nurse as suggested. (A) We would advise there be an association or connection with someone who may be suggested through the associations of the doctor who has applied the corrective forces, or the osteopath.
-
(Q) Is the body going to get well? (A) That will depend, as we have indicated, upon whether there is the ability to obtain response through the magnetic influence, or the activity of the vital forces or power through the electrical vibrations that occur through the application of the hands in the manner indicated. This, as we find, is the only means of arousing now the response to overcome, that there may be set again coordination in the circulatory system.
-
(Q) Would it be advisable to move body to different location? (A) Not in the present, not under at least three weeks; for then it may be determined - in the next three weeks, if these changes and applications are made - just when, how, and the manner in which the present experience may be extended, or the close will come.
-
(Q) If the body does not respond to this magnetic treatment, how long would it continue in present condition? (A) As indicated, at the end of three weeks we may see a definite, decided change for disintegration to be permanent.
-
(Q) Any other advice at this time? (A) Make these changes. Set self in that attitude wherein self may meet the emergencies, for there has been builded in self - [husband 2056] - that which may make for the use of that known to the advancement of self and associates in all manners at this particular time, now.
-
We are through for the present.

R1. 5/27/33 EC’s ltr.:
My dear Mr. [2056]:
“We have already mailed to you the information received for Mrs. [298]. I don’t know that I can say I feel overly optimistic from this information, unless you are able to obtain an attendant or nurse for Mrs. [298] that seemingly - will be a great deal more in sympathy with what you are attempting to do. I don’t know whether I gathered this from your conversation, or from this last reading, but it appears to me that there must be some cross purposes with the nurse. I don’t mean to indicate that she is not efficient, yet she is not in sympathy - evidently - with some of the suggestions that have been given in the readings, either from her attitude or from that she has gathered from the physician with whom she works. I do hope you will be able to get this straightened out, without a great deal of trouble. And I am hoping you will see real results from this change.
“Be assured that it is our desire to be of help, and I feel very sure that the information through the readings has always had something that we have not yet gotten entirely hold of. I don’t know how to explain this, but I’m sure you must have felt something of it also. There seems to have been really an opportunity for decided, definite results; and we do not know whether the lack of such has been the fault of any individual or the fault of our not comprehending exactly the information given; but I do hope things will be just as helpful as I believe you have every right to expect from this information.
“I trust you will let me hear from you at every chance. I know how busy you are kept, and how very anxious you are at all times; but rest assured we are very vitally interested and desire to keep in touch with you, and if possible to be of some help all along the line.
“With all good wishes and kindest regards to you and yours, I am”
Sincerely, Edgar Cayce [EC:GD]
R2. 6/6/33 Husband [2056] wrote of his trials in trying to secure another nurse: “To cap it all, Mrs. [298] in the meantime began to get upset thinking of a change, so for the present we’re going along ‘as was.’ I think, however, the general atmosphere has cleared and that conditions are much more congenial. There is more of that sympathetic understanding on the nurse’s part.”
R3. 6/19/33 He wrote: “Her condition remains about the same. I really think she is improving mentally, for she has less difficulty in talking. That is, she can express herself and make you understand where formerly she couldn’t.”
R4. 12/3/39 Mr. [2056] in requesting Life Rdg. 2060-1 for their son, stated on the application that Mrs. [298] was deceased. [GD’s note: I think she died not very long after her last reading, in 1933. Apparently the treatment in 298-3 was not followed.]
