TEXT OF READING 302-10 F 41 (Saleswoman (in brokerage firm)

Christian (?)) This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at his home on Arctic Crescent, Va. Beach, Va., this 17th day of March, 1933, in accordance with request made by self - Miss [302], new Active Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc.
[Edgar Cayce; Gertrude Cayce, Conductor; Gladys Davis, Steno. Mildred Davis and L. B. Cayce.]
…, Avenue, Time of Reading Apt. 17-G Penthouse, 4:40 to 5:00 P.M. Eastern Standard Time. New York City.
-
GC: You will have before you the body and enquiring mind of [302], who is at home, … Ave., Apt. 17-G (Penthouse), N.Y.C., in regard to her mental and material affairs. You will give any advice counsel or guidance that would be beneficial to her along these lines, and answer the questions which she has submitted as I ask them.
-
EC: Yes, we have the body, the enquiring mind, [302]; this we have had before.
-
Now, as we find, in the general physical forces of the body there are many changes since we last had same here. Most of these have been and are for the betterment of the general physical forces.
-
And while there are those resuscitations gradually taking place from the renewed activity of the general system, and with the reduction of those forces or elements that made for destructive influences, with the physical and mental activities under which the body goes - or is strained even at times - the use of the Radio-Active Appliance would prove most helpful and beneficial to the general physical conditions of the body.
-
We would suggest that this be used each evening when the body is resting, or when the body returns from the activities or labors and rests; preparing and attaching it to the body for an hour to an hour and a half. It would be found that this would rest the body much easier, and there would be more vitality and more resistive forces gradually builded. To be sure, this is not a corrective measure or application other than through assisting the general circulation of the body. And the therapeutic effects obtained by the use of such an appliance would be the revivifying and resuscitating influences that are created by a more equalized and more coordinated circulation.
-
When the anodes are attached, these regulations should be adhered to rather severely:
-
In the first treatment we would attach the first anode to the right wrist and the other anode to the left ankle. The next day attach the first anode to the right ankle and the other to the left wrist. The next day to the left ankle and right wrist. The next day to the right wrist and to the opposite ankle again.
-
Making these changes in this manner makes for the increasing of the circulation by creating the positive or negative pole to the extremities in varied portions of the system, as indicated.
-
For the general health, those conditions to which the body adheres are well; in diet, in activity, in outside exercise and the like; and, as we will find, the body should - with the proper precautions - continue to improve in the general and specific health, or healthy welfare.
-
Ready for questions.
-
(Q) Shall I make a change in my business at this time? (A) When there is the consideration of changes in associations and connections, as understood by self, there should be careful consideration given as to the needs, as to the desires, as to those conditions that are as necessary elements in the make-up of the associations for and of the body-mental.
There are certain, specific requirements for the body, in its mental attitude, as to the character or kind of remuneration that is necessary from the activities of the body; yet - under the existent strain (as the body has been warned oft) - there is too great an expenditure of self for the ends that to the present have been obtained through the effort expended.
As we find, there are some associations rather in line and in keeping with former interests (and present interests also), in the manufacturing end, where as much effort expended (were the proper associations or connections made for the body) would gain or maintain a great deal more pleasant, more worth while activities - and more remunerative in many ways and manners. While leaving less channel for the purely speculative interest, intents or inclinations, such associations [with Mr. [257]?] would bring for the body mentally and materially much more satisfactory experiences.
So, if there can be made the proper associations or connections at this time, such changes we would advise - or in the near future; for, as we find, general conditions, general expansions - especially in the fields that offer opportunities for the activities of the body in that direction (that is, in the manufacture, sale, distribution, of either household furnitures or household products) will be bettered. In this connection we would find a much more pleasant, a much more remunerative activity - in this field.
-
(Q) Would you advise that I go into the selling of merchandise? (A) In the selling of ANYTHING may the body succeed, but ESPECIALLY in this field.
-
(Q) Along what specific lines? (A) These are very specific that we have given here! Household furniture, or the special interests - of course - are in the manufacture, sale or distribution of a certain type of couch, or studio couch, or the like; also those of every class of household furniture, especially those lines in refrigeration that are opening and which are worthy of the best efforts of anyone with the abilities in this line, offer an opportunity, if the connections and associations are made properly.
-
(Q) Would my contemplated and desired connection be a satisfactory one for the parties concerned? (A) Be very satisfactory for ALL concerned, as we find; for this includes refrigeration, and through the efforts of the body may be extended into much broader fields than is being enacted through this connection at the present time - though the channels are being opened for such connections.
-
(Q) Would it be profitable? (A) As we have given.
-
(Q) Will my present financial condition ease up this year? (A) That depends a great deal upon the speculative interest and many associations, and upon the abilities of the body to keep nearer in the better - or the developing rather than retardment in - the general physical health.
-
(Q) Will money be any easier with me and worries less? (A) If the associations or connections are carried in the direction indicated, we would find that it would be so.
-
(Q) Do you see any change in my residence? (A) Not in the immediate future.
-
(Q) Would you advise a change in residence? (A) No.
-
(Q) Are my affections placed right, [with Mr. S. A.? See 302-2 & 302-5] and shall I keep on this same path? (A) As we find, these are well from many an angle or standpoint. Associations, connections and relations, are well.
-
(Q) As I have several matters in the hands of lawyers, please advise if I have chosen the right lawyers. (A) These, as we find, are beyond the ken of experimentations; and have reached the stages, in most conditions - as to whether the right or the wrong, has been chosen! You must abide by what’s to be the result!
-
(Q) Do they look fairly successful for me and my affairs? (A) In most instances, very good.
-
(Q) Any further advice? (A) Weigh well those things that have been given. Show forth self in that way and manner, that in meting out to others - that which is meted will be returned to thee in the same measure.
-
We are through.

R1. 3/20/33 EC’s ltr. [in reply to hers of 3/14th under 302-9, Par. R4]:
I was very glad to have yours of the 14th, and hope that our efforts in trying to be of service, through the reading obtained Friday afternoon (a copy of which has been sent to you), will really prove of value to you.
It was a real pleasure to see and talk with you again. Isn’t it strange how we can be swayed by others’ thoughts, without attempting to know why they are swaying us or why we allow ourselves to be swayed? If you will read over your Life reading I am sure you can see that we have always been attracted toward the abilities that are innately yours, which no one can take from you no matter what one might say or do. For, I believe this is one thing that is an absolute law: That which is our very own, no one can ever take from us - unless we, of ourselves, dispose of it or dismiss it from our experience. But, I was led much in the same way possibly as you were, to feel that you had never had any special interest in what I was undertaking save from the motives of aiding those who were fostering the Work at the time. Peculiar situation now, when we think of it. It is unreasonable, I am sure, from either of our viewpoints or angles. But, we are all so busy with the matters of the present that we forget much that is really important in our experience, that is so much more worth while passing on around us, and never do anything about it.
I don’t know that I can attempt to explain the information. You have had sufficient insight into work of this nature to no doubt be a better interpreter of it than most of us who have made some pretense of studying such information for a long time. I’ll be anxious to know your reaction. I would gather (and I am asking, rather than telling) that it is time for you to make a change from what may be termed an office job to a broader scope, as directing of sales or something of that nature. It is indicated also, I believe, that an association in some capacity with [257] and many of his connections would be most wonderful or worth while just at the present time. As to what the reference is concerning some manufacturing end, I don’t know - because I don’t know of your connections, or whether you have any in this direction; but it seems indicated that you do have an association - if not a direct connection - with some manufacturing proposition. Also I understand that an association with [257] (should this come about) would require that he connect himself in some capacity with a manufacturing organization; perhaps in the same manner as he is now connected with the refrigeration - and it seems that your association with that organization would be well; for the readings have indicated that in this field will be big operations in the next year or so.
But, all of this is just surmise - and, as I say, I am asking you. You can enlighten me a great deal as to just what is referred to (if you know). I’ll be more than anxious to hear from you, and certainly do hope that during my next visit to New York I may have the opportunity to talk with you at some length.
Thank you for writing the letter. We have entered you as an Active Member, so I am asking that you please sign and fill out the lower righthand portion of the enclosed blank and return for our files - so that our records may be complete. This will also insure that you receive the little Bulletin which we are getting out each month, and any other data from time to time that may be of interest to you. Should there be any special data mentioned that you would like to have, don’t hesitate to say so.
With all good wishes and kindest personal regards, I am
Sincerely, ASS’N FOR RESEARCH & ENLIGHTENMENT, INC. EC:GD
R2. 3/22/33 She wrote: “My rdg. and lovely letter came. Both are a great source of joy and appreciation to me. I am truly deeply grateful to you.
“Now to try to enlighten you on the subject. I do very much want change from my present position. I feel I am giving out a terrible lot for the very little I am receiving in return, and that I’d now like to change and go into the selling line again. I of course can’t at this time give up what I have until I am assured of something else. I have been for a great many years connected with a manufacturing concern who make bedding, day beds, studio couches, etc., but there’s never been field enough to really give me what I want. I would, however, now like to go in with [257] on his several propositions, as I feel sure he and I could work out some quite successful deals together and I think this just the best minute to strike out, as I feel we are now definitely on the turn and that this is the time to set one’s self for the future. Your rdg. just confirms my ideas and I am pretty well convinced it’s the thing to do.
In the rdg., you spoke of the electric treatment. Well, Dr. Albert D. Mayer [M.D.] is giving me that very treatment starting with Thurs. eve. March 23rd, and every other night thereafter at 5 to 6 in the evenings.
“I knew you had been led to believe much different about me and my thoughts of your work, just as my mind had been tried to be poisoned [by Mr. [900]]. Truth to tell, I have always been deeply and keenly interested in you and your work, but through no fault of my own was always kept from you lest I steal the spotlight from someone else who figured his mind bigger and much more able to grasp everything than I was.
“I do hope you will be here again soon and that you’ll let me know so I can plan to have just YOU, Mr. [S.A.], who is also deeply interested in you, and myself here alone where we can a enjoy and evening to the fullest.
“I am not at this time able to donate or give as much to the society [your work] as I want to, but over a period of a year I’ll do all I can to make up for lost time at the beginning. I will sign the enclosed slip and mail next week with just a remittance.”
R3. 3/25/33 EC’s ltr.:
My dear Miss [302]:
I was indeed very glad to have yours of the 22nd. It is always not only gratifying but helpful to us all here to know that the information through the readings has been interesting; also that it has in all probability opened a channel for a great deal of thought and meditation, as well as helpful justifications to the individuals seeking such information. To be sure, the information on such questions as yours either confirms or rejects positions taken by individuals. Usually, as I think it did very well in this, it gives a plausible reason for the position presented. I certainly do hope it proves very beneficial to you.
More than I can tell you I appreciate your invitation to spend an evening with you and Mr. [S.A.]. I would love very much to have an opportunity to go over with you both many of the varying experiences that have prompted me to carry on in the way and manner that I have done. No doubt there have been and will ever be many things in such an experience that may cause questions, but I do not believe they will ever be questions that would not present a basis or justification for the activities of this individual group. I realize that the work basically is educational. I do not think for one moment there is anything super human about it, merely a question of individuals being used by divine influences or forces; yet realizing they themselves are but human, very weak, and very prone to err in judgement when it is paralleled with decisions of great mental abilities along certain lines or fields of endeavor. Yet, for the basis of the ability to be of practical service is simple - and may be used by anyone who is true to self.
Yes, I feel that very soon you should be able to work out with [257] and some of his associates a connection that will be not only a gratifying return on the effort expended, but will make for congenial association; that is always very much worth while and brings a great deal of contentment to the mind of an individual.
Also I appreciate your suggestions of aid and help as the circumstances permit. I assure you it will certainly be very gratefully received. Owing to the circumstances with the financial situation throughout the country, these conditions have been made rather desperate for us at the present time. So, we would appreciate anything that can be done, be it ever so little, in this direction.
Thank you again for your letter. I hope it will not be such a great while before I will have the opportunity to see and talk with you again.
All here send our kindest personal regards and best wishes,
Sincerely, Edgar Cayce [EC:GD]
R4. 4/13/33 She wrote: “I’ve been trying for the last ten days to answer your nice letter of the 26th of March but have been so busy I did not get one minute to myself. I have been busy trying to get my affairs straightened out but they don’t seem to mend very much. Every day seems to see them get in a worse muddle. I was put in bankruptcy on the 7th of April at 10:30 in the forenoon - it was published in the papers on the morning of April 8th. The lawyers I asked you about are handling the case. I pray it works out o.k. It’s plenty of worry now, believe me. My business is just about the same and does not seem to get any better anywhere.
“I started with [257] and feel it’s going to work out o.k. I will, however, stay in the street until such times as things are definitely set for me to go into [257]‘s firm. I feel it in my bones that we are going to make out extremely well together, as we both know and understand each other pretty well and the association will, I’m sure, be a most congenial one. If I could just get my business of bankruptcy adjusted and straightened out, I’d feel so much better. Then my mind would feel easier to get right down to the bottom of things.
“If this letter is uninteresting, please excuse it, as my mind is not functioning properly tonight. I am weary, I guess.
“My fondest to you all, and do write when you get a chance again. I am truly feeling better getting your nice letters. It’s great.”
R5. 4/19/33 EC’s ltr.: “I was very glad to have yours of last Thursday. I am quite sure the details of the proceedings through which you are going at this time have been quite aggravating and disturbing; besides keeping you pretty busy. Having experienced just such proceedings myself, I think I can realize just what it means. Often I have thought, and do feel, that we do not know just how to appreciate another’s position unless we have experienced the same thing ourselves. I trust everything will be settled in a satisfactory way and manner, with as little disturbance as possible.
I hope that the association and connections you are making will prove most satisfactory. I believe sincerely that there is not a TRUER man than [257]. As all of us, at some times his judgement may not be as well as some people’s, but the intents and purposes of the man are sincere and true - and worth while. I’m sure you have chosen the proper way, in staying on in the street until conditions DO open up that would justify you in making definite changes. However, I’m sure you realize that you can overdo yourself physically, and this you should be very mindful of, that you do not aggravate some of the old conditions that have bothered you from time to time. And I know you recognize the fact that mental worry, added to physical strain, is a hard thing to deal with.
Mr. [257], with several other members of our organization, has been and is forming a group of Active Members in New York. I hope that you will get in touch with them and be able to give a little bit of your time, and a great deal of your counsel and advice, to these men. I know that each and every one of them, who are really sincere in trying to be of a service to their fellow man, would profit a great deal by the advice you would be able to give them.
I don’t know yet just how soon I’ll be able to be in New York again. I hope that by the time they are able to begin making plans for the group activities I will be able to meet with them, to know what has been planned - at least.”
R6. 4/30/33 She wrote: “I’ve started a dozen times to write you and each time something has come up and prevented me.
“Well, so many things have happened lately I just don’t know where to begin first to relate the events. Business has been much better down town lately but it will take a great many such weeks to put me on my feet again.
“I am getting the Infra-Red lamp on my entire body every other night for 30 minutes each side. Then the diathermy on my feet, ankles, knees and forehead. It’s all helped me wonderfully and I am grateful to you for starting me on this treatment.
“When the group is formed in N.Y. I’ll be on the job, rest assured. I talked for an hour about you on Tuesday night last, and I feel convinced I’ve finished selling ‘our Edgar’ to one man. This I’ll tell you when I see you. [257] started the job, I finished it.
“It’s still cold and gloomy here, most unlike April. My law matters are still unsettled but feel sure they’ll come through fairly well. I never build false hopes.
“With fondest to you all, I am as ever, [302]. Write soon again.”
R7. 5/25/33 EC’s ltr.:
“I was indeed very glad to hear from you again. I know how hard it is for one who keeps as busy as you do to keep up with the correspondence, but you may be very sure that I am always happy and glad to hear from you. I hope that with the improvements that have come from time to time, in the market, conditions are more promising to you and that you are getting many things straightened out.
I certainly hope that the suggestions made for the various applications will prove as helpful to you as they have in so many other instances. The general reports we have from everywhere are most satisfactory. Whenever people adhere consistently to the information, the results are most pleasing.
Also I hope that you will be able to get the matter in the courts all settled up real soon.
I’m wondering if you heard anything about the group meeting there Monday night, and whether you were able to attend. I believe there is to be a get-together meeting or dinner sometime this month, and I certainly do hope it will be plausible and possible for you to be present. I’m sure that you could be of a great deal of help and assistance to any of those undertaking to carry on or further the work in New York, through the suggestions that you may give to individuals as to how this should be done; as well as through suggestions you may give to those whom we may help through the readings.
Conditions have been rather strenuous with us, but we are getting along - and having some wonderful reports.
Hoping I may have the opportunity to see you in the near future, trusting you will let us hear from you whenever you can, and with all good wishes from all here, I am”
Ever the same, Edgar Cayce [EC:GD]
R8. 5/7/33 A.R.E. Regional Representative Robert N. Ladd’s ltr. from NY:
“I met Miss [302] on Friday afternoon, having an appointment at her office, and I found her a wonderful business woman and a great booster for Edgar Cayce. She wants to become really active in the work again and she says that she will be 100% with me in anything I want to do where you are concerned.”
R9. 5/10/33 She wrote: “I understand you are to be here on May 18th…
“I shall be most happy to see you.
“Things are not going as smoothly with my law affairs as I’d hoped they might, but I guess I must just smile and say nothing until May 18th.”
R10. 5/13/33 EC’s to Mr. Ladd: “I don’t suppose there is a single individual who has been any more helpful to the MATERIAL organizations that have assisted this Work than Miss [302]. And I am sure the New York Group, if it can get her to work, will have the material things forthcoming from some of the plans that she would set in motion from time to time. And I will say this for her, she has never sought self-exaltation in any of it.”
R11. 6/5/33 She wrote: “Enclosed please find my membership…
“I have been very ill the past week. Had a tooth and 1/4 inch of jaw bone (right side) removed last Monday. It’s been most painful but Saturday they took the packings and stitches out and since then it’s been some easier. I hope it will soon be o.k. so I can again feel myself.
“Business here does not seem to pick up much. I expected much more long ere this, but I’ll use more patience and perhaps all will come out o.k.
“It’s very hot here which fags me out completely. I’ve just never been right since my illness of last year. I surely do wish you were closer at hand, as I’d so often love to run in and chat with you and yours.”
