Protestant, Rosicrucian) This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at his office, 115 West 35th Street, Virginia Beach, Va., this 22nd day of November, 1930, in accordance with request made by self - Mr. [311], through Mr. [779].

1. EC: Yes, we have the entity, [311], known in the present, and those relations between the universe and universal forces as are latent and exhibited in the present entity as individualities and personalities.

2. In entering, we find the entity entering under many of the southern constellations. Few have we had in this clime.

3. In the astrological influence - which, to the entity, would only mean a PORTION of that as has been and is to be experienced by the entity, for changes in those environs, those influences, have been accomplished through the experience of the entity in the earth’s experiences.

4. In this present experience, astrologically, we find Uranus and Neptune influencing - with Mercury and Venus and Jupiter. Hence we find some extraordinary experiences have come to the entity in the present experience through those influences of the occult and the mysterious forces in nature; some influences that in an astrological manner are in keeping with the influences of the planetary in-dwelling; others contrariwise with same, through the application of self with material environs. Few are given to reckon with using occult influences in a material world as the entity is given.

5. In those influences in Mercury brings for a studious, as well as a mental ability; while those influences in Venus make for an affable, pleasing, even tempered; yet a HIGH tempered individual - but one controlling temper; for well may it be said, one without a temper is as lacking as one without a pilot, but one that does not control same had best been without one.

6. In the influences in Jupiter, as seen, brings for the wide experience, the varied fields of study, observation and experience of the entity. These in the present may be expanded upon, either for an application of self towards knowledge in an UNDERSTANDING manner, or may be turned in those of knowledge without the ideals for their application.

7. In the experiences then, as we find, as are made in personalities of the entity in the present experience:

8. In Uranian AND Neptune, those influences of an innate longing for an understanding of unseen, unknown forces in nature, in mental force, in man’s experience.

Those in the Jupiterian, as seen, makes for the application of knowledge used, understood, applicable, in a commercial manner; while those in Venus make for an influence of affability, of pleasing personality in speech, manner, approach, and in THESE - THROUGH the occult forces - may be made either for a gaining in a commercial or material manner or gaining in a spiritual and mental manner, or may be attempted to be made a COMBINATION - that would be BETTER, PROVIDED same is not made in an aggrandizement of selfish influences or motives.

10. In those things builded as personalities:

11. One that, even under stress and strain - either physical or mental, can call upon unseen forces, apparently, to the other.

12. One that is in sympathy with those conditions that influence individuals in acting in this or that manner UNDER given circumstances. Hence one that is a very good CHARACTER reader of individuals by facial expressions. Study the hands a little more and it will make more of an EVEN understanding of MOVEMENTS as influence individuals also.

13. One that is interested particularly in commercial values, but never under rating the mental and spiritual expenditures for such commercial values.

14. One interested in the peoples as are influenced by things, rather than things’ influence upon peoples. One, then, that reasons from WITHIN, rather than from without. Then, a spiritual-MINDED entity. Well guided, and with an ideal - may go far in self’s development, and in aid to others. One WITHOUT an ideal may easily be lost in the fog of many mysteries; for Uranian influences MUST bring periods of depression to every child of its habitation, as does also an exultation hard to be combated with. The ascendency of the Uranian influences during the coming years, especially beginning in thirty-five to thirty-nine, will bring those periods for the entity of the greatest AFFLUENCE among men. As to whether this will be wholly of a MATERIAL nature, or a mental and spiritual ALSO, will be with the ENTITY’S own application of the knowledge as is in self’s own experience.

15. In the appearances and their influence in the present experience, [311] as known in the present:

In the one before this we find in that period known as the French Revolution, and during those periods when there was the storming of those prisons, and during the first of the attempts of the royalty to escape. The entity then among those that were of the soldiery; not that as TURNED from the king, but as FORCED - through the power of assuasion, and through the circumstances as about same - to APPEAR to be on both sides. In the name Eliod. The entity gained and lost through this experience, for the days were long, even under the troublesome times, and many were the changes wrought in the minds and thoughts of men during that period. The entity then, in the latter period, gave much to peoples through that given in publications of those that wrote to the peoples, gathering together the outposts under a COMMON purpose. In the period of oppression and in the period of the rebellion, the entity suffered in body AND in mind. Hence in the present, turmoils and strifes - whether of an internal or of a greater degree in state or nation, in home or abroad - mean as a TREMBLING to purposes, to understandings of the entity; yet when the entity steadies self in that of a contemplative influence and is once set, FEW may change his views - though he may appear to often agree! [See 311-3, Par. 16-A mentioning an American incarnation between 1607-1682. Also 311-10, Par. 34-A.]

17. In the one before this we find during that period when there was the return to the land of promise. The entity then of those in favor with Xerxes [Ahasuerus] [Ezra 4:6], the king, and of the Persian or Syrian peoples, yet in sympathy with those returning to their promised land; not wholly accepting all of their laws, or their version of man’s relation to man or man’s relation to the Creative forces, yet in SYMPATHY with same, and a contender and an aider to those peoples; in favor with the king, in favor with the peoples returning. A friend, then, both to Xerxes and Zerubbabel.

18. In this experience the entity gained, though the entity suffered in body during the latter portion of the experience, becoming a student of nature, of peoples, of histories, of travel - and the entity known in that period as a compiler of data of the nations round about. In the name Zenzol. In the present, those books as pertain to the lost tribes, the lost arts, and particularly of travel, are of interest to the entity.

19. In the one before this we find in that land known as Egyptian (in the present), and during that period when there were divisions in the land through the banishment of the priest Ra-Ta - 10,500 B.C.?] as gave much understanding to the peoples, both before and upon the return. The ENTITY in SYMPATHY with the banished priest, yet REMAINING in the service of the king as one that piloted many peoples through the land that gathered in the storehouse of the king, either as tithes, or taxes; not a tax gatherer, but rather a representative of the king among the nations round about. In the re-establishment of the priest, and the beginning of the distribution of the lore gathered by the various channels in the period, the entity became the student of the spiritual advisor’s lore, and aided in the interpretation of same to the native, to the wayfarer, to the stranger, and the entity gained through this period. Particularly from this experience do hieroglyphics, symbols, and such, have a peculiar interest to the entity, as do the varying effects of religious influence, or the various philosophies of different peoples - and these are applicable in the entity’s best development in the present. In the name Ich-Il-En.

20. In the one before this we find in that land known as Od [?], or in those of now called Indian land, during those periods when the peoples from the plains and the peoples from the hills - through the changes wrought - strove one with another. [About 30,000 B.C.? See 311-3, Par. 15-A.] The entity then that one who was set as the ruler of an united people that grew UP from a remnant of the destruction wrought among both. Mighty became the entity in his efforts during this period and this experience. In the latter days many were the exchanges of ideas and of manner of caring for the peoples of the land with those, both to the East and to the West of the land, and there may yet - in this land - be found the residue of this entity’s experiences, the entity’s efforts for his peoples, for others, in THIS land, DURING this experience. In the name AHI-Mni. In the present we find this influence of travel, of knowledge sought of other lands. This combined with those in the experience later brings a doublefold influence in the entity’s INNATE desire to see much of the world, and the determination to - sooner or later - see it, either in person or visualize through the study of customs, of peoples, of languages, of the various peoples of the earth.

21. In the one before this we find in that land now known as American, and during that period when the nations or the peoples were in the acts of gaining the knowledge of one to another. The entity among those that went as an emissary to that meeting when they came together for the gathering of beneficent ideals for the peoples of the period. The entity gained and lost through this experience; gaining in the aid lent; losing in the turning of selfish motives through those round about; influenced by those that would RULE, rather than aid the entity. In the name Omumo. In the present, those of a peculiar influence and feeling towards filial or home life is innate in the entity, which seldom finds expression - but is often felt, and RILES at times. [See 311-10, Par. 39-A.]

22. In the abilities of the entity in the present, and that to which it may attain, and how:

As is seen, first there must - for development - be an ideal set for the entity; for three fields lie before the entity in development in the present - either as a material and commercial success, or as a mental and a teaching success, or the combined efforts in both to make for self that of a ONENESS of the purposes in the present experience and aid others in an understanding of same. The entity has lost through experiences through the loss of his ideal. In the present HOLD to an ideal, not to an idea. In this may MUCH be accomplished; for, as has been seen through the experiences of the entity in the earth, the divine has oft spoken through those in the various periods for an understanding of man’s relationship to man and man’s relationship to the Creator. Let the ideal be in that which was given, and not in man! Ready for questions.

24. (Q) What is meant by using occult power for material uses? (A) In application of occult as an INFLUENCE one may gain for secular or personal interests, or influence over another’s mind or actions.

25. (Q) In what business will the entity make the best success combining the spiritual with the material? (A) In that as is of an EXCHANGE of commodities, ideals, or of such relationships as the entity maintains in a SOLICITING of interests for interests. Get the difference! Not interests for material, but interests for interests; that is, let a service for a peoples or a community be in proportion to that as is rendered by self to those peoples. We are through.

It has been a long time since I have written you but I want you to know my heart is still with you. The only excuse I can offer for not writing is laziness.

The world has changed considerably for me since we last met. Have gotten married, have a son three months old and have moved to …, N.C. Want to get a life reading for him just as soon as I can afford it. Right now is impossible as I have just finished buying him from the Doctor who had a heavy financial interest in the mite.

Am still with the … R.R., and will thank you to change my address on your records to P.O. Box …, N.C. It is a pleasure to receive the various bulletins from you as this is the only contact I now have with work of this type - and I miss the contact.

As time goes on the original life reading gets clearer and the meaning more apparent to me. I wish everyone who has had a life reading would get it out about every three months and carefully check up on the statements made and events as they unfold. It is a revelation.

I hope to be able to come to Virginia Beach this summer and renew the friendship with you and your family that has meant more to me than any single thing in my life.

What a nice letter from you to me!

46 years ago in the month of March, in Montegomery, Alabama a young man said good-bye to a friend.

“Well now, when you get to Norfolk, Virginia I want you to meet my friend Edgar Cayce.” Casually. No explanation.

Following W. L. Jones’ request a call WAS made on Edgar Cayce. And what new worlds were discovered. The horizons are continuing to expand.

The Life Reading. Studied and re-read over the years with better understanding each time. An urgent desire kindled for service to humanity and the individual - without any self-aggrandizement.

Some small measure of success in helping others. And how I would like to be with you for the long awaited dedication ceremony. One that Edgar Cayce foresaw and mentioned.

To again be part of congenial friends in pursuit of understanding. To tell of the beginnings. Of the Zentgrafs. Of Dave Kahn. Edgar Evans as a child. Hugh Lynn and Tom Sugrue. (What a story that is). And there is dedicated Gladys Davis and Grandfather Cayce. Your mother, sweet and understanding. A picture of most of these hangs on the wall here.

I regret that 46 years later, in the month of March, it will be impossible to be with you. Am continuing to help all possible.

Dear Harold:

It was good to have your letter of February 16, even though you are saying that you cannot be with us for the dedication. I sincerely hoped that you could.

Hopefully some of those you mentioned will be here. Mr. and Mrs. Zentgraf have passed on of course, but some of the Zentgraf children may be here for the dedication. Eleanor and her husband (Ostwald’s) stop here on their way back and forth to Florida now and then. Mrs. David E. Kahn (Dave is dead) will handle the narration for the historical statement we will make from film and slides. Edgar Evans has grown up as an engineer for Virginia Electric and Power and gives us a great deal of help as a member of the A.R.E. Board, etc. We are hoping that Mary Sugrue will be here. Of course Tom passed on in the ‘50’s. Gladys is still with us and you will be interested in knowing, has just recently married for the second time. She married Al Turner, who died and just recently married Les Wilmore. She is keeping her original name for so many in A.R.E. know her by it.
